chapter one

Teenage Mind

AS A TEENAGER, THE MALL IS USUALLY THE place to be. Well, for most teens anyways. Sabrina, CJ, Claudia, and Aisha thought of it more like a trap for teen bullying and peer pressure. Yet, here they were because Mrs. LaRusso had to run errands and figured they'd have some fun there.

"This is hell, I repeat, we are in hell." Claudia said, blowing a strand of hair away from her face.

"If this is hell, where are all the creepy little demons?" CJ asked, amused by the topic at hand.

As if on cue, Yasmine passed by cackling about something that was probably incredibly stupid. No doubt she was on the phone with either Sam or Moon who probably didn't want to listen to what she was talking about.

"Well, that one kinda speaks for itself." Sabrina chuckled slightly.

"All she needs is a broom." Aisha commented, still looking at Yasmine walk around.

"...and a pointy hat, and ugly shoes, and some green face paint." CJ added.

"If only we could drop a house on her." Claudia shook her head and folded her arms over her chest. "That would be ideal."

"Okay, that's enough making fun of the wicked witch for one day, my friends. Let's do something like, I don't know. Get ice cream?" Sabrina had no idea what to suggest, she knew all her friends hated the mall.

"I suggest the music store." Claudia smiled, knowing that Sabrina would never be able to reject.

"Is that okay with you guys?" The LaRusso girl looked between Aisha and CJ, she hadn't thought about going before but now she was literally itching to do so.

"Sure." Aisha shrugged, and CJ did the same making Sabrina's eyes light up.

Ever since she was little the LaRusso girl had loved music. The way it made her feel, how it sounded, it was the one thing that ever came close to her love of karate. The two hobbies consumed most of her life, even when her dad stopped practicing, she continued alone and loved every minute of it.

She combined karate and music into one, it was her passion.

"Do you think Al got any new records?" Claudia asked as they walked into the store.

"I hope, it's always cool to see the really old ones." Sabrina laughed up until she noticed a familiar face towards the back of the store. "Hey, guys. I'll be back in a minute."

The LaRusso girl walked over, a mischievous smile plastered on her face.

"Hello, Herman. Up to your old tricks again?" She asked the blue eyed boy in the aisle next to her as she leaned up against the shelf.

"I told you it's not Herm-"

"Seriously, don't tell me your name or else I can't use the joke anymore." Sabrina said, cutting him off but making him smile slightly.

"Fine, Herman it is. Do I get to know your name? Or should I continue with my joke and keep calling you rich girl that made me fall on my ass." The teen who's name was not Herman asked.

"Well, it's flattering that you even think about me at all." The LaRusso girl laughed as she rested her chin on her hand.

"I never said that I think about you." The boy started to get slightly flustered by her comment and avoided her gaze.

"I like to put two and two together." Sabrina held up four fingers. "That makes four by the way."

She didn't know what the sudden burst of confidence was but, apparently she was a natural flirter. She was never interested in that many boys, in fact, her dating record was pretty spotless except for the month that her and Claudia tried to date.

"Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up." The blue eyed boy shook his head.

"So, how long has it been since you stole my wallet? Months right?" Sabrina asked with an eyebrow raised.

"It's flattering that you cared enough to remember." Herman smirked. "So, do I get your name yet or do I have to wait another couple of months to run into you again."

"Sabrina! Come check out this Nirvana record!" Claudia yelled from across the store.

"Sabrina, hm?" The blue eyed teen chuckled. "Guess I have a real name to call you now."

"So, you have talked about me." The LaRusso girl leaned forward.

"Maybe once or twice." The boy shrugged his shoulders before looking over Sabrina's shoulders, his friends were calling him over and that meant he needed to leave.

"I've gotta go but, i'll see you around, Sabrina." He sent one last smile to the girl before running off towards his friends.

"Who was muscles?" Aisha asked as her, CJ, and Claudia approached.

"How do you know he has muscles?" The LaRusso girl asked, laughing at how blunt Aisha was. She honestly loved that girl to death.

"Even I noticed he has muscles and, he's not exactly my type." CJ shrugged his shoulders.

"So, who was he?" Claudia asked, she was the most curious about the answer. Aisha only asked because Claudia practically begged her to do it.

"He's just an old friend I haven't seen in awhile." Sabrina shrugged her shoulders. "Let's check out all these records."

About thirty minutes later, Mrs. LaRusso was ready to leave. For once the group actually had a good time at the mall and they all found something to buy. Before long each of Sabrina's friends were dropped off and it was just her and her mom in the car.

"So, sweetie. We haven't had the chance to catch up lately. What is new with you? Boyfriends? New friends? What did you buy at the store?" She asked.

Amanda had been acting like this ever since Sabrina voiced that she had been feeling left out a few days prior. The LaRusso woman was taking her to all her errands, to dinners, and even to the dealership just so her daughter wouldn't feel left out.

"Honestly? Nothing much. My life isn't that interesting." Sabrina laughed slightly, she wondered if all that time her parents never asked her about anything was because she simply had nothing to say.

"Well, I used to say the same thing before I met your father. Life only gets interesting when you make it that way." The LaRusso woman said, making Sab nod her head.

"Thanks mom, I needed that." That was all the assurance Sabrina LaRusso needed to start doing something for her life. She wasn't going to be quiet, she wasn't going to let anyone bully her or her friends, and she sure as hell wasn't going to let the boy of her dreams walk away anymore.

Or so she thought.
