'Everyone has scars that they don't want to talk about.
Hers are just on her body as well as in her head.'

The rays of the sun blazing through the glass windows woke Nicholas from his sleep. He looked at his side of the bed only to find it empty. Waking up to an empty bed was not Nicholas Rodriguez's style. Everytime he spent the night with a willing women he made sure that he walked away first. But nothing happened last night. You just cuddled with her and watched her asleep. Seriously cuddling?
Pushing back the duvet from around his torso, he slid out of the bed and made his way towards the en-suite bathroom. He stopped dead on his tracks when he heard someone singing aloud.
Put your make up on
Get your nails done
Curl your hair
Run the extra mile
Keep it slim
So they like you. Do they like you?...
"What the hell! Get out!" Vivienne stopped singing and screamed at a high pitched voice. Wrapping the towel around her body as fast as she could she glared up at him. He shouldn't see them. No, he shouldn't. Those scars...
He didn't leave though. Folding his arms and crossing his legs at his ankles he leaned against the door frame, giving away a stance of a relaxed sexy man.
"There's a lock on the door, see," he said pointing towards the bolt and continued with his snide remark, "and you're supposed to lock the door when you're showering or were you waiting for me to join you in the shower?" He smirked.
"Get out of here, you swine!"
"I think I should make a note of the words you use against me and make you pay for every offensive word you use, right? Afterall I'm paying a hell lot of money for you and you are not even dedicated to your work," he said while striding closer to her.
"Do not come near me. Just go away, damn you!" She exclaimed and held up a hand in front of her as if protecting herself.
"You made yourself at home, I see," he said while glowering down the unpacked toiletries.
"Wasn't I supposed to?"
"No, you weren't supposed to. You were to ask me first. I bought you or did you forget that too? You will do as I say. Do not mess with me cara, I'm warning you," he said threateningly.
"No need to pass onto your empty threats. I'm not scared of you," plucking up her courage she replied audaciously. Where did you go, my courage?
"You are in great need of a lesson, cara," he said mordaciously. Advancing towards her in unfaltering steps he invaded her personal space. She held the towel more firmly and awaited his next move.
She moved back from him to create some distance between them but regrettably found herself pressed against the wall; the wall blocking her retreat. Cramming up her neck she loured at him defiantly when she saw him devouring her with his eyes.
"Stop right there. Do not come any closer to me!"
"Why cara? Do I unnerve you?"
"No, you don't." She flustered and high colour bloomed and settled onto her cheeks.
He stood closer and pressed his palms flat on the shower walls on either side of her. He stared down at her fixedly and took in every facial contours of hers.
"You are getting yourself wet."
"So? You're too."
"I'm, because I was showering until you showed up with your uninvited presence!"
"I'm also showering."
"Argh... It's meaningless to argue with you!"
"Don't argue then."
"Just get out of here and let me shower in peace!"
"I won't."
"Fine, I'll go then!" She huffed and moved from under his arms but he was too quick. Taking her hand in a tenacious grip he hauled her closer to him.
"Why do you have to look so beautiful all the time?"
"I am not-" She didn't even get a chance to complete her sentence because as soon as she parted her lips to speak, he pressed his lips to hers. In a battle between her subconscious and temptation, temptation won and she finally gave into the mind-altering kiss.
Tilting up her chin he angled her mouth so that he could deepen the kiss.
Kissing her had become his drug. Her alluring sweet smell tingled his nostrils and he couldn't resist himself from breathing in her lavender scent.
Her grip on the towel slackened and it slid down, revealing her shoulders. She forgot about everything, even that scar on her shoulder but it didn't go unnoticed from Nicholas's watchful gaze.
He broke the kiss and stared down at her intently. Pushing away the strands of hairs from her shoulders he looked down at the angry looking scar peeking out of the piece of cloth. Running his coarse wide thumb across it he asked, "What happened here cara?"
Damn! She had forgotten about that scar. Where did that plastic skin go? Oh God! What was she going to tell him now?
"Nothing happened," she said without meeting his eyes.
"Do not lie to me." He pushed up her chin and forced her to meet his eyes.
"I'm not lying. Its just-"
"Tell me, please," he whispered softly.
She closed her eyes and sighed. "I can't, I'm sorry. It's too personal and I just don't want to talk about it."
"Does it hurt anymore?"
She glanced up at him surprised with his question. Why wasn't he running away already? Every other man who had seen that scar had ran away as fast as they could. If he saw all of them, he would surely run away too.
"Why aren't you running away from me?" She blurted out.
"Why would I do that?"
"Because it doesn't look good and men don't like scars on a woman's body," she reasoned more to herself than to him.
"I don't think so. A scar is a badge of honour which should be worn with pride because it shows that you have undergone some harsh or rough set of circumstances but you didn't let those situations break you down. I think you are brave woman, cara! You are stronger, you defeated them and became the conquerer; don't you see?" he said ardently.
"What if I say I'm already vanquished?" she asked softly. Oh no! Don't even think of crying again.
"I'll help you out from whatever that scares you. I want to help you cara from whatever it is you're fighting." So now you are getting involved in her personal matters too? What do you think you are doing?
"So now you turned into a psychologist. Dammit! I don't need healing. I do not want to be fixed or mended! I'm not a 'thing' to be put together! I'm not! No need to act like the knight in a shining armour because I'm not a damsel in distress! I don't need rescuing, I don't!" she said furiously.
Pushing him away with all her might she stormed out of the shower room and Nicholas stood there under the shower head with only one thought in his mind and determined to unravel her every secret. What had really happened to her?
