Chapter 5
"She had the courage
to walk into the fire,
and the wisdom
not to get burned."

Nicholas paced in his bedroom. It was three in the morning but he hadn't been able to sleep a wink. His libido had kept him awake the whole night. That kiss he had shared with Vivienne was making him behave like a horny teenager. She was playing with his thoughts, making him disoriented. He had never felt like that before. What was it about her? First she intrigued him, then fascinated him and now she was even making him aroused without even being here!
She was going to be with him for the next 1 month and he would take the full advantage of her presence. The thought of her lying naked in his bed, waiting for him was enough to send his libido into charge once again. She was a temptation he couldn't resist, and he was soon going to indulge in every fantasy he had of her.
Settling down on the soft cushioned sofa he took the papers in his hand. Turning the pages his gaze zeroed on her signature. Something was not right about it. Though it was a stylishly cursive handwriting he felt something was amiss. He was no handwriting specialist so no way could he judge her handwriting. Irritated with himself he placed the papers back on the table and rose from the sofa.
He had noticed that she wore full sleeves and trousers. While other women were busy showing off their body to men, it was as if she tried to save herself from their attention.
The way she had kissed him back with passion seemed innocent in some way. How can a woman of her age be innocent? She was no innocent, she was just another woman and he was in lust with her. Once he satiated his libido he would eventually forget her, he thought to himself. But at the back of his mind a small voice was asking What if 1 month was not enough?

Vivienne never slept at night, and it was nothing new. But never had she felt so disoriented. The reason was that man and his manipulative deal.
He was a manipulative and arrogant man who always got what he wanted. If she refused to follow to the terms she would lose everything she had. She couldn't do that.
There were too many employees and she couldn't jeopardise their jobs. She hadn't even told Marissa. Oh God ! She would have to handle this on her own. 1 month with that conniving man?
It was already five in the morning. She moved the curtains and pushed open the window. The first ray of sunshine was peeking through the horizon. The sky was clear and the birds were happily chirping perched on the branches. The leaves had turned yellow and soon they were going to fall.
Vivienne's penthouse was enormous but it looked cold and detached. The walls were painted grey and her bedroom looked gloomy. There was an absence of colour and she liked it that way.
There were no excess furniture. Just a queen sized bed, a four seater sofa in the drawing room, a 6 seater dining table and a modular kitchen. The liked space and she was a minimalist. Too much of furnitures, designs and textures made her claustrophobic.
She had slept with other men before and Nicholas would be just another number, she assured herself. As long as she didn't let her emotions come into the deal everything would be alright. She would definitely make him guilty of his choice.

Nicholas called his driver Simmon and informed him that he was to drive Vivienne from her office to his place. He knew she would be angry but he would make sure she had no choice but to follow his orders.
Vivienne's phone rang and she noticed that it was an unknown number.
"Hello," she said in her usual cool brusque tone.
"Hello beautiful. How are you doing this morning?" Nicholas's mocking tone came through the receiver.
"You!!!". She was no longer her cool and controlled self.
"Yeah, so you still remember me!" She could practically see him smirking. That nasty man!
"So you got me checked, eh? How dare you sneek information about me behind my back?"
"Now sweetie, you did the same thing didn't you? I was just returning the favors."
Dammit! That bastard knew. "Look, I am busy right now. You can call some other time."
"That's where you are wrong cara. Since you are my mistress, you must be available any time I want you. Don't you know how to be a mistress? I think you need prepping up for the role. I shall show you how to be an obedient, complient mistress tonight. My driver Simmon shall pick you up at exactly six pm and you will do so without any arguments." His voice had once again turned cold and bitter.
"I don't need prepping up. I am not a chicken! What if I don't follow your orders?"
"Too much is at stake cara and you know it." The line went dead and she sat there with her phone in her hand. He was right, too much was at stake. She had no choice but to follow what he said. But soon, very soon she was going to turn the tables around.
