Broken Pieces
A/n: How's my story so far??? Vote and comment, okay? I'm thinking of a Akira x Kousei ship and Kousei x Kaori ship Is it fine? I also am thinking the right time when Kaori would return.
Yeah... a love triangle... haha.
...
I hate it that my uncle took me back in my apartment. I still feel like a broken puzzle.
Kaori... If only you're here, you could pick up the pieces and make me whole again!
"How long will you coop up yourself lying down on your bed and drown your spirit in your water world, Kousei?" I heard someone call me. I felt like someone lifted me up in my water world and I could see a little light. I opened my eyes and I saw Mado Akira in front of me.
"I have no life anymore," I told her.
She went closer to me and snapped my forehead. "You may be a half-ghoul but don't forget that you were once human. You became a ghoul to survive. Living as a ghoul and weapon of your uncle... I know it sounds hard but that is the new you. You can't forget that you are still you. That's the reason why your uncle returned you here."
I stood up and hugged her. I realized that I'm actually taller than her even she's older than me. I can sense that she also blushed. "Kousei?" she called me. "You have to go to school."
"Do my school know that I'm a ghoul?" I asked her as I release her from my hold.
"No. They only know that you became a ghoul investigator and partnered with Arima Kishou. Most of all," she opened my window. "I sensed that someone is watching you from far away."
"What?" I asked.
"You have to be careful, understood? You're still a new born if we compare you to those pure ghouls," she informed me.
...
I quickly went at the bathroom that day and cleansed myself. While cleaning myself, I had this weird cuts and wounds all over my head, arms, hands, belly, torso and legs. All of those were cuts that I received when I was fighting the target ghouls. I'm already used that whenever my uncle needs me, he pulls me out in the facility and brings me at the target place where I would fight and battle. For now, I have been fighting S-class ghouls.
I have always won, thanks to the training my uncle gives me. It still disgusts me that I got used in eating human flesh and kagune since the day my life changed.
A knock from my door awakened me, "Are you alright? You're taking long in the bath."
"Oh, yeah! I'm about to get finished," I told her. I finished soaping my body and brushing my teeth. After that, I opened the shower to cleanse my whole body.
...
"Why are you coming with me if you trust me that I won't attack anyone? More on, I'm not hungry. The flesh my uncle gave me just turned to ash soon," I told her while I get out of her car.
"Let's say you are my mission?" she told me.
I stared back at her in surprise. "Me?"
"You're dangerous. Your training with your uncle turned you as dangerous as you can imagine," she answered me.
I walked out of the car and she followed me. "Just follow me anywhere I go. Don't interrupt me."
I went through school as normal as it would have been. My professors welcomed me back as if I never got missing and disappeared. Apparently, they received the message that I was attacked by a ghoul and I survived after I was rescued by a CCG officer. They never knew about the surgery that transformed me into a ghoul that I looked at Mado Akira who introduced herself as my bodyguard. She just smiled at me.
When lunch came, she began eating at the canteen while I have no appetite to eat anything even if she gave me a little amount of RC suppressants that could allow me to eat human food.
"Not eating?" she asked me.
"No. I'm still full," I answered her while we are sitting together side by side near a table while she's eating pasta.
"You sure? Don't you miss eating one?" she asked me.
Her purple eyes truly make my heart glow. I looked at her and she blushed. When I noticed that, she looked away that I began to laugh. "You make me remember the girl that made my life colorful."
She laughed at me as well. "Are you saying I'm giving you the same thing?"
I blushed red more. "I guess so. My cold, stone heart is beginning to soften up and be what I am before."
She finished eating her lunch and she stood up. "What's the name of the girl that made you happy before?"
I also stood up and answered, "Miyazono Kaori. She's a wonderful violinist. The bad thing is... she died."
She looked at me pitifully. "I'm sorry to hear that."
I looked at my schedule and I found out that my classes are actually all finished. I just have a scheduled tutorial with Seto Hiroko... my old mentor. Does she also know what I have become?
While we are walking to go to her inside the building, Aiza Takeshi saw me with Mado Akira.
He approached us and held my shoulders from my back. "Kousei!"
Both of us stopped walking and faced him. He took off his hands and put it back on his sides.
"Who are you?" asked Mado Akira.
"Me? He knows me!" he answered her.
"Aiza Takeshi, one of my old childhood piano rivals," I explained to her.
Akira smiled. "It seems you're popular, Kousei. Is this really how people see you as a musician?"
I chuckled. "I don't know."
"Where have you been? You went missing at the start of Spring!!!" he told me. My eyes were on the floor and so, it was just Akira who explained to him everything that happened to him without revealing that I have become a ghoul.
He looked back at me and said, "That seems horrible."
"He's slowly moving on," she said.
I held her right hand and said, "Yeah, right. Let's just go, okay?"
Akira smiled back at me and she said good bye to him. "He seemed a good boy."
"A bodyguard... More like a prison guard," I said to her which she seemed insulted by my own words.
When she said that, she pulled me inside an empty classroom and threw me inside. She pinned me on a wall and my heart beat incredulously.
"What are you on?" I asked.
Her purple eyes stared strikingly at me. "I'm not a prison guard!" she exclaimed.
I breathed out as I try to get away from her but she just grabbed my collar. In my surprise, her lips began to get closer to me until her tongue slid in inside my mouth. I hugged her at the same time and I kissed back. She's different from all the humans that I have met. If there's a human I can never eat, it's her. We were like that for who knows until there was a knock. We separated together and she held my collar. "This is wrong."
"You like me, do you?" she asked me.
I blushed. "Yes... Even so, we can never be together, Akira-san. Our worlds are too far way back. You're close but you're far away."
After that, she lead me on the room where I would meet Seto Hiroko. When I finally got in, I saw the black piano and her, inside the room already. Her arms were also folded and she seemed furious. "I have been waiting for an hour!"
I held Akira and she also held me. She looked at the two of us. "Who is she?" she asked me. Her eyes tell me that she never received any news that I went missing for weeks.
She bowed at her as I bow down, too. When I sat on my chair facing the piano, I quickly opened the lid. "She's Associate Special Class Mado Akira from CCG."
She was definitely surprised. "What? How did you meet her?"
I don't know what to answer her and so, I'm glad enough that she was the one that answered her, "His uncle approached him and asked if he would want to become an investigator and he agreed."
She looked at me suspiciously. "Uncle? Your father has only three brothers including an illegitimate one."
"Uncle Kishou approached me," I answered her.
She was shocked. "When it comes to that man, I don't trust him. I can't believe you agreed."
After a while, she finally gave me lessons. She let me play pieces by Chopin, Beethoven and other popular classical music for hours. I played just the way I had always been but I guess, she also noticed that there was a bit of a change in the way I am playing.
"You seemed more emotional and most of all, it seems you matured more in just the two months that we didn't meet," she explained to me.
"Thank you, Hiroko-san," I told her.
The door of my tutorial room opened and while I felt like my world finally returned to what it was before even for a little bit, Uncle Kishou came into view. Both of them looked at each other intensely. Hiroko-san held my shoulders and asked, "Why are you in his school?"
Uncle Arima snickered. "I need my strongest weapon."
I stood up and told her, "I guess my other job is calling me again."
She grabbed me back before I could reach my uncle. "What do you want from him?"
Mado Akira bowed at her and said, "This is urgent, ma'am. We need him to help us."
I stood up and assured her, "I will come back alive, I promise." I joined the two of them after I hugged her.
My life now have two faces. I'm wearing a happy mask that hides the tears inside me...
