A Great Leader
Chrom panted as he fell back. He was badly wounded and Lissa was too far off on the battlefield, to heal him in time before another attack befalls him. The break of dusk hit his eyes. Perhaps it will be the last thing that he would see. Trying to get up he latched onto his sword and pushed it into the ground heaving himself up, but failing. The risen didn't hesitate to attack and sliced at Chrom. Blood splattered everywhere and a sharp cry could be heard. The Prince's eyes dilated and he screamed...
"Chrom!" Robin called for her commander. She raced throughout the camp searching for Chrom. "CHROM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She hollered again. Nothing but dead silence, except for the nature that was around. Where is he? Robin thought to herself. She then heard some rustling from a bush and quickly spun around. "Who's there!?" She grabbed the hilt of her blade. The wind howled as a response. Nothing. Robin let out a sigh of relief.
"Robin?" Came a voice. The tactician screamed and spun around to face the person. It was Chrom.
"CHROM!?" She then was breathing heavily her heart pounded. Suddenly soft laughter was heard from him then he bursted. Robin glared at him then rolled her eyes.
"Pshahahaha! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to frighten you Robin! It was just, your reaction was so funny!" He said through spaces of laughter.
"YOU IDIOT!" She then punched Chrom's arm lightly. "Don't do that!"
"I said I'm sorry. Anyway, the whole entire camp could hear you calling me. What did you need?" Chrom said with his chuckles dying down. A smile was still cutting his face in half.
"I was hoping we could discuss our next travel route." Robin said calming down. She then took out a map for both of them to look at."See. I think it would be best if we had Sumia and Cordelia go ahead to scout the plain field for any brigand camps." The commander nodded.
"That might be best. But that could put them in grave danger. Maybe I should accompany them." Chrom said. Robin gave him a poker face.
"Do you know how to ride a Pegasus?" She asked sarcastically. The Prince sweat dropped and shook his head.
"So that's why you want them to scout? Because they can ride flying horseys?" He asks annoyed.
"It'll make things easier for us." Robin said looking at the map.
"But it makes them a very seeable target!" The commander argued. Robin looked at him with wide eyes. She didn't understand why he was so upset. She was the tactician why disagree with her judgement? (Idk why... it took me over ten tries to spell that word XD) she herself knew the risks of doing a scouting in the air, but it's a risk to even let your guard down. She thought that maybe it would be easy for him to understand but she was wrong. Chrom was upset.
"Chrom. Why are you so upset?" Robin asked with worry. "You should know that this is war. We can't always take the safe route. We are risking two units over many. Face the facts. Even so they aren't alone. They have each other. Cordelia and Sumia are capable fighters."
"I know... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout.its just stress has been clawing at my mind. I want to be a good leader." The Prince put his hand to his face and covered a half of it. His head drooped. Robin looked at him then dropped the maps. They hit the ground with a soft thump and she cupped his face and made him look into her eyes.
"Chrom... you are an amazing leader. I couldn't ask for anymore more worthy than you." She smiled and hugged him. Chrom wrapped his arms around Robin gently and the two were a soft and warm embrace.
Robin walked slowly into her tent with a lot on her mind. She couldn't decide whether to go out on patrol or be at the war meeting. Although that's not the only thing. She also couldn't help but wonder about Chrom. He has been acting a little less, like himself around Robin. He seems a bit nervous. Robin wondered why and thought deeply if she had done anything wrong to him. Nothing came to mind though. Is it perhaps he no longer cares for her company? So many thoughts came into her mind.
"Robin? We need to talk." Came a deep voice. It was Chrom's. She could tell just by voice it was him. Robin jolted up and looked at the blue haired man a bit nervous. "I uh... look... um... people around camp are... saying we are a cute couple..." He said nervously with some slight blush tinting his face. Robin's face flushed madly. She thought of him as no one else but he commander and friend.
"Is this the reason why you've been avoiding me lately?" She asks him. A simple nod was her answer. Robin let out a sigh and she shook her head. "Chrom are you nervous about our relationship turning into something more? And if so why?"
"Well for one thing yes I am. If I fell in love with you then that could effect my judgement on the battlefield and that wouldn't be good for our troops. Being in love during a war is horrible and could lead to many hurt." He then turned his head away from her.
"You think that loving me would change our judgement?"
"I believe so. If I were to choose you over an army I would choose you. If I did have those feelings. I'm afraid of losing thiswar because of my mistakes." Chrom's face was now covered by his bangs. All he wanted to do was be a good leader. Robin had no clue why he felt this way. She slowly brushed her hand in his hair and looked into his eyes. Her gaze was soft and calming.
"Chrom... something to fight for makes someone strong. And even if I loved you and you loved me... we'd be a stronger team than before. Even so you feel how you feel. Don't let others cloud your judgement and depth of our friendship. We are nothing more than friends and comrades."
"You know just what I want to hear... thank you... Robin..."
"Of course... you mean so much to me Chrom... you're my best friend..."
