I was back in Opelucid City with new gear. I was wearing a red and white jacket with a black shirt underneath, athletic tights, shorts, running shoes and a new hat.

I had to get a change of gear after what happened on Ember Island a week ago. Word spread around fast as people were talking about how Riolu Kid stepped up to the plate and fought Entei. I still had bandages on my arms because they would occasionally hurt from the burns I got.

I would've challenged Drayden earlier but my new girlfriends kept me from doing so. I had to stay in Roxie's house as they took turns taking care of me.

They also entered the bedroom at the same time wearing sexy nurse outfits. It was pretty damn awesome but now I had to get back on the grind. While doing a bit more training, Rubble saw a Growlithe using Outrage and Flare Blitz. So through sheer force of will, he himself learned how to use those two moves.

But now I was ready. I slipped on my gloves and balled my fists and got off my ass and did some stretches. I slid my finger across the brim of my hat and stepped out of the Pokemon Center and made my way to the gym. The outside was designed two resemble two dragon heads on a castle. One side was black and the other was white. I walked inside and saw the two large life like dragon statues.

The head of the dragon had a d-pad panel on it. The panels lit up to show which direction the head would move. I battled each of the gym trainers and made my way up to Drayden.

Drayden:"Welcome. Thank you for coming. I am the Opelucid City gym leader, Drayden."

When Iris mentioned this guy was her grandpa I expected a wise old man. What I got instead was Joseph Joestar himself.

Drayden:"As the mayor, I've given everything to developing the city. As a trainer, I've simply been pursuing greater strength. But what I'm searching for now is a young trainer who can show me a bright future. Perhaps you can show me that future, the way Iris has?"

He sent out a Druddigon first and I sent out Toph.

"Use Dragon Claw!"

Toph:"Flygon!"

She cried out ready for battle and flew straight at Druddigon as dust kicked up beneath the flapping of her wings. Her right claw started to glow a purple color as she cut Druddigon across the chest and made him crash into a wall.

Drayden:"Hm. You beat it one hit. Impressive. Altaria!"

This buff, dragon type trainer, sent out a fluffy cloud Pokemon. I mean it's a dragon but it's like seeing a gangster with a poodle. Wait poodle? The hell am I talking about? I've never even heard of such a thing.

I shook my head and told Toph to use Dragon Claw. She knocked out Altaria in one blow.

But poodle? What even is that? Do I mean Furfrou? That thing back in Kalos?

I was too distracted by my own thoughts to realize he sent out his own Flygon.

Drayden:"You okay over there?"

"Huh? Oh! Sorry. I was just having a little crisis. I'm ready now! Dragon Claw!"

Toph roared and flew at Drayden's Flygon and scratched it across the face and made it crash into the ground.

Drayden:"Hmph. Your Flygon packs quite a punch. I like that! My blood burns with more fire even at this age! I've never been pushed to a corner in so long! I'll turn this around! Go Haxorus!"

Drayden then sent out a Pokemon with blades on the sides of its face which made it look so deadly and badass.

"Dragon Claw!"

Drayden:"Use Dragon Tail!"

Flygon flew at full speed at Haxorus with her claw glowing. Haxorus roared as its tail glowed brightly. It spun around and swung it at her. Their attacks clashed and cracked the dragon heads we were standing on.

Flygon flew back as Haxorus slapped his tail on the ground.

"Damn Drayden, you got quite a beast of a Pokemon!"

Drayden:"HAHAHA! Indeed! Bring it! Shadow Claw!"

"Dragon Claw!"

The two dragons tried to scratch the over but their claws connected which caused a small explosion. We had a back and forth exchange until finally I got the last hit in.

"End it Toph!"

Toph:"Flygon!"

She flew at Haxorus, spun in the air and crashed into his chest with her claws glowing. She kept spinning and launched Haxorus into a wall to get me the victory. Drayden stroked his beard and bowed slightly.

Drayden:"(Y/n), my boy, you have the makings of an amazing trainer. I haven't been beaten this badly since two years ago. I'm grateful that we had a chance to meet and battle. It reminded me that Pokemon battles are about working with others to meet our challenges together."

He returned Haxorus and gave me the Legend Badge.

And also TM82 Dragon Tail.

Drayden:"Prof. Juniper asked me to tell you about the legendary Dragon type Pokemon that created Unova. Please wait outside."

"You got it, boss."

So I went back to the dragon and made it lower itself so I could walk out the exit. I exited and stretched before Drayden exited the gym as well.

Drayden:"I'll show you the way. Follow me."

I followed him as he lead me to a house near the Pokemon Center. I entered his house and sat on a couch across from him as he told the story of the Legendary Dragon Pokemon.

The two dragons, Reshiram and Zekrom, were awakened two years ago and he told me of their past. They were once one unified dragon as two brothers controlled it but had different views. One sought ideals and the other sought truth. They fought and scarred the Unova region with the dragon's great power then it split.

He then said a third one came into existence. Its name was Kyurem. He also held something important called the DNA Splicers. He himself guards it because it might fall into the wrong hands. As he kept talking, a rumble was felt throughout the city.

BOOOOOOMMMM!!!!

Drayden:"What the hell was that?!"

We rushed outside and looked to the sky and gasped.

It was flying overhead and the front part of it opened up to show a cannon. It then began to charge something.

It then shot a blue beam straight down at the city as Drayden and I stared at it in awe.

When it hit the ground the entire atmosphere became colder than anything.

The flying ship kept freezing the city over as we stood there in anger.

It finally stopped as there was a large ice crystal in our path.

Drayden:"This world of ice..."

He then sent out his Haxorus.

Drayden:"Haxorus! Use Dragon Tail!"

Haxorus:"Haxorus!"

Its tail glowed purple as it ran to the large ice crystal and smacked it full power with the tail. Haxorus stumbled back as it didn't even leave a scratch.

Drayden:"That's enough, Haxorus!"

"Holy shit. The ice is completely intact. Not even a scratch!"

Drayden:"What's going on?"

?:"I don't think that's going to work."

We heard footsteps and I saw two grunts alongside Zinzolin.

Drayden:"I remember you from N's castle."

"Hey! It's you! That one guy that spouted nonsense!"

He just scowled at me.

Zinzolin:"It's bitter cold. I'm shivering. I'm suffering, but I'm alive! It's what the essence of life feels like! It's proof of my existence! But that's enough of philosophy. Here are the facts for your admiration: This ice was specially created by Team Plasma's technology. As long as we have our secret weapon, you'll never be able to melt or break this ice! Let me explain our purpose here. Drayden, hand over the DNA Splicers!"

"That doesn't explain anything at all."

Zinzolin:"Shut it boy! Opelucid is a city where the past and the future are entwined. Could there be a more perfect place for the splicers that connect the separated Pokemon?"

Drayden:"Do you think someone who knows what you did two years ago will just hand them over quietly?"

"Yeah! Tell 'em Drayden!"

Zinzolin:"Humph! That's what I thought you'd say. At this point, I'd like to threaten you with another volley of ice, but we can't use it for a moment..."

He sighed as we looked a little relieved.

Zinzolin:"It won't be enjoyable in this cold, but I guess we'll just search for them."

They then walked away.

Drayden:"Those damn villains! (Y/n)! I want you to help me! We're going to drive Team Plasma out of Opelucid City!"

"Hell yeah, Drayden! Let's do this!"

We quickly ran and split up. Anubis and I skated around the icy ground of Opelucid City and took down the grunts with ease. We beat one last grunt and found ourselves at the gym where Zinzolin was standing.

Zinzolin:"Blast it all to hell! I didn't expect to have to fight hampered by cold like this. Well, no matter! The fact that I'm shivering means I'm truly alive!"

"Not for long, jackass!"

He just growled before sending a Cryogonal. Anubis jumped out of his Pokeball and shot an Aura Sphere at it. It nearly took it down but it used Confuse Ray on him.

"Come on Anubis! You can do this!"

He closed his eyes and breathed in.

Anubis: Master, you and I shall take down this fiends!

Zinzolin:"Ice Beam!"

Cryogonal shot an Ice Beam at Anubis who was still standing still with his eyes closed. Anubis then dodged the attack and shot another Aura Sphere to take down Cryogonal.

Zinzolin:"No way!"

"That's my boy!"

Anubis smiled as Zinzolin sent out another Cryogonal. Anubis hit another Aura Sphere that wasn't able to bring it down as it set up a Light Screen.

"Shadow Claw!"

Anubis kept his eyes closed as she raised his left paw as purple energy surrounded it. He swiped it down and finished off the Cryogonal.

Zinzolin:"Weavile!"

He sent out a Weavile as Anubis took in a deep breath.

Zinzolin:"Use Slash!"

Weavile ran and scratched Anubis across the chest as he slid back.

Zinzolin:"Heh heh heh.

"Close Combat!"

Anubis opened his eyes quickly as a gust of wind was released that made Weavile looked scared.

"Seems he snapped out of his confusion!"

Anubis ran right at the Weavile and delivered a barrage of powerful punches before taking it down.

Zinzolin:"You're a strong trainer. You definitely are adept at handling Pokemon. I believe I'll take my leave, simply because I can't stand this cold. But...imagine this... A Unova region... completely...covered...in...ice."

"I don't think I'd want that."

Zinzolin:"Oh but it will. We'll do whatever it takes to obtain the DNA Splicers."

With that, he took his leave as Drayden met up with me.

Drayden:"You're even better than I hoped. Thanks to you, we drove them off."

"I have to give my thanks to Anubis here."

Anubis bowed at Drayden who nodded his head. I then returned Anubis to his ball.

Drayden:"Wait here a moment. I'll be right back."

He ran inside his gym and came back out shortly after with something in his hand.

Drayden:"Look, (Y/n). These are the DNA Splicers!"

Drayden:"This is what they were after!"

"Looks kind of weird."

Drayden:"Yes. It certainly is strange but we're really fortunate Team Plasma didn't get their hands on them! I don't know what their goal is, but I'm sure they're planning something wicked."

"That weirdo said he wanted to freeze the entire Unova region."

Drayden:"What?! Is he insane?!"

"I like to think he is."

Suddenly, we heard someone speak and I turned around to see one of the members from the Shadow Triad.

S. Triad:"As we suspected... The hiding place was in the gym. Well thought out. If Drayden isn't there, we can't get in. If he is there, he's the strongest guard we could possibly face. It also explains why the Pokemon gym was remodeled. Whatever. The DNA Splicers are in our hands now."

Drayden:"It's beyond my imagination to think you'd use one of the Seven Sages to find out where the splicers were!"

S. Triad:"Now you know, then. We will accomplish our goals, no matter what the cost. We don't have the ability to captivate the hearts of others like Lady N does. Instead, we will bend people to our will with brute force. Two years was a surprisingly long wait."

Suddenly, the other two members appeared and one snatched the splicers and they passed it around before all splitting up.

I found one close to the gate that reached out to Route 11. He sent out a Pawniard and Anubis popped out.

"Aura Sphere!"

He ran quickly and slammed an Aura Sphere into Pawniard and knocked it out. He sent an Absol next as Anubis shot another Aura Sphere at it. He sent another Pawniard that quickly went down.

S. Triad:"It seems I have to give back the splicers... Or at least that would be the case if I was the one to have it. Goodbye."

With that, he disappeared as Drayden ran over to me and looked beyond pissed off.

Drayden:"Damnit! No! Ah! NO!"

He took in a deep breath and calmed himself down.

"I'm sorry, Drayden."

Drayden:"No, no, it's not your fault, (Y/n). You were impressive! You're a powerful trainer and I couldn't have asked for a better partner. It's me who's let everybody down."

My Xtransceiver then started ringing. I picked it up and saw Hugh and Cheren were in a call and I joined.

Hugh:"(Y/n)! A strange ship was flying toward Opelucid City, right?!"

"Yeah! That shit blasted a strange beam and froze most of the city over!"

Cheren:"No! That can't be! Well, I'm en route!"

Hugh:"Cheren! That's Team Plasma's ship, isn't it?"

Cheren:"Yes. No doubt about it..."

"The one that was at the docks at the PWT?! Damnit!"

Cheren:"Take it easy, (Y/n). We'll figure something out soon enough. I'll meet up with you soon."

Hugh:"(Y/n), if any trouble occurs give me a call."

"Right. See ya."

We ended the call as Drayden kept putting himself down.

Drayden:"Augh! If there were only two of me! Then I could protect the town and chase after them, too!"

Cheren then entered the city through the gate and looked at us.

Cheren:"(Y/n). Drayden, glad to.see you're safe as well."

Drayden:"Hello, Cheren. You have certainly grown. I hear you filled in for Lenora by becoming the gym leader in Aspertia City."

Cheren:"Thanks. We should save the catching up for later. I have a good idea of where Team Plasma is hiding. The place with the lowest temperature in the Unova region right now is an area close to Humilau City. Drayden, please protect Opelucid City. Hugh and I will find Team Plasma!"

Drayden:"Very well. I'll do my part, and thanks. The chase I'll leave to you! But...don't do anything reckless."

"Yeah Cheren, that's my job!"

Cheren and Drayden looked at me and both chuckled.

Cheren:"So you're going to help?"

"Obviously! Those assholes tried to freeze an entire city and the plan to freeze the entire region next! Someone has to stop them! If I find that ship, I'll bring it down no matter what. I'll tear it apart board by board if I have to!"

Drayden: Hmm, his tenacity reminds me of my youthful days.

Cheren:"I'm glad to hear it. You're a skilled trainer who can go toe-to-toe with Team Plasma and you've beaten the leaders with ease. Hugh told me you moved in from Kalos and this is your first adventure as a trainer. I'm honestly quite impressed. Drayden, I'm off!"

He nodded as Cheren ran off.

Drayden:"Humilau City, huh... Is there anything north of Undella Town? (Y/n), protect Pokemon from Team Plasma! All people should think for themselves about the nature of the relationship between people and Pokemon. It's not something Team Plasma gets to decide for everyone!"

"Damn right! See you Drayden. It's been an honor fighting by your side."

I outstretched my hand as he shook it and nodded his head in approval before I called out Patriot to fly back to Undella Town.

Drayden looked at Patriot fly off and spoke to himself.

Drayden:"That boy is something else. I wouldn't mind him taking Iris's hand in marriage."
