"You..." he said it, and there was no going back. Midorima looked down a bit regretfully and Takao knew what was going to happen. He bit his lip as he braced for those words that would hurt more than under normal circumstances.  He heard nothing as Midorima continued to walk.  Takao had tensed up. Why wasn't Midorima saying anything?

"Oh, I see," a low sort of whisper escaped his lips as Takao turned around to face him. 

"What? That's it?"  Midorima looked back at him.

"What do you mean?"  Takao opened and closed his mouth as he tried to find his words.

"Um, I mean I just confessed to you.  Me, a guy, to you.  Aren't you supposed to hate me? Be disgusted? Reject me?"  Takao started to ramble as the bit of insecurity began to consume him, a bit he thought he never had.  "You looked so regretful earlier.  Your words, are they just a lie? A facade to hide your real feelings for me? Someone who-"

"Takao!" He stopped.  He stifled a response as he looked down. 

"I'm sorry.  That was unlike me." He bit his lip again as he tried to make things right. "I-"

"I only looked that way because I didn't know what to do.  We shouldn't date because it doesn't seem right, my parents, my family..." His grasp on his lucky item tightened.  "The only thing that came to mind was that response.  To be honest, I already knew how you felt about me." Takao clenched his jaw.  "I decided to ignore it, hoping it wouldn't come out like this."

"Well, it did.  If it bothers you that much then I take it back." It was now the other's turn to clench his jaw as he felt his heart drop. 

"Wait no, I don't mean-"

"I don't like you, I don't love you.  I'm," he grinned "your teammate, I'm your friend.  So let's go home."  He turned away and started to walk.  Midorima grabbed his arm.

"Takao."

"Let's just go home."

"Listen to me!" He shouted to get his attention. "I never said I didn't like you back." The boy shook off his grip.

"Don't lie." 

"I'm not lying."  The boy with the hawk eye looked up desperately.

"Then why, why did you say that?  Why are you afraid like I am?  Why did I make a fool of myself?" Midorima pulled the boy in for a hug.

"You never made a fool of yourself."  He couldn't help but think how warm he got all of a sudden.  Midorima backed off to look at the boy.   "You're right, I'm afraid.   But I also don't want to lose someone precious to me.  I want to say that I'm willing to charge in despite the consequences but I can't seem to will myself to do that." It took a moment, but Takao smiled much to his surprise.

"How about this.  We can try and if anything goes wrong we'll run away.  We'll take a train and keep going all the way until it reaches its last stop, to the ends of the earth" he grinned.  "So," his grin slowly dropped, "even if it's not right now or today, say that you'll take that chance with me?" There was a silence, forcing his subconscious thinking that he had imagined everything.  He saw the other getting close, but not enough to steal a kiss. Takao closed his eyes as he expected something, but when it never came, he opened them.   

Midorma cleared his throat as he backed away, pushing his glasses up to hide his face.  The other could feel himself heat up as he replayed that moment once again in his head. 

The taller male quietly hummed a yes and Takao laughed as he shouted a 'hurray', knowing it was best not to rush these things. 

"Hey! Shh, you're too loud nanodayo."  The boy couldn't stop laughing as he grabbed his hand.

"Come on, let's go home!"  

The following week, Scorpio was first place.

A/n whew I finished!! Finally! That took forever.  It wasn't very long.... and it was kind of rushed...  Hope it was an okay chapter! I hope you guys enjoyed it!
