After finding out that Zarkon was terminal, Elara has been by his side constantly. She didn't want to be clingy but who could blame her? She had limited time with her husband left and didn't really know how to cope.
Some thought she should start detaching from Zarkon now to save her some pain for when his time comes.
The ones closest to her knew that she wasn't going to take this turn of events. She cares about Zarkon so deeply that many thought the woman wouldn't live too long without him.
The two were in bed together one night and she was anxious and alert, uncomfortably alert.
Zarkon let out a single groan as he turned over to face her and she sat up in the blink of an eye.
"What's wrong?" She asked nervously.
"Nothing is wrong. I'm not that fragile woman." He huffed.
"I'm sorry Zarkon... Ever since you told me about your condition I'm scared to fall asleep because -"
"You think I'll fall asleep and wake up, or you think I'll have some sort of heart attack, stroke, seizure. I know." He said, cutting her off.
"Yeah..." She mumbled.
"I'm ok. I'm in good shape for now. Don't worry so much or you'll give yourself a headache." He said.
"Do me a favor?" She asked.
"Of course." Zarkon said.
"Let me hold you please. I won't cry I swear." She said.
"But you already are?" He said seeing that she was very obviously tearing up.
"Happy wife happy life,." She said, wiping away w tear only for more tears to come down.
"Angel... You're still going to be sad." He said.
She then gave him a teary eyed death stare.
"Ok." He squeaked after gulping.
"Mhm..." She mumbled as he laid his head on her shoulder while she wrapped her arms around him and sighed heavily.
One thought circled her head over and over again
'It's not fair'
