"How do you know my name?" Her voice is hesitant as the words spill from her lips. I watch as they move for a moment, not responding.
"Oh yeah!" I remember, running back to my car. I open up the back seat door and pull out the apron. I rush back to her and hand it to her gently. "I think you forgot this..." I press my finger against her name tag. "And there's your name." I grin.
She looks at me in surprise. "But you left before me, how'd you find it?" She laughs nervously, gripping the fabric between her fingers.
"Well, I had to get my blueberry muffin, so I went back." I exclude the part where I wanted to see her again. I add a chuckle to not sound too suspicious.
She nods and smiles. "I see." For a moment, it becomes quiet. Only the sounds of the New York streets fill the air. She looks over my shoulder and frowns.
"What?" I ask, turning around. On the ground, I see her bike tire rims had bent. I hear her sigh and I turn back to her. The sad expression looked so wrong on her face.
"Look, thank you so much for the tip and my apron, but I should head home." She explains lightly.
She pushes past me and picks up her bike, inspecting the damage. I hear her curse under her breath as she looks at the side of my car. "Is it bad?" I ask, rushing to her side. I see a small dent in the metal and just laugh. "It's fine."
"Im so sorry, this is my fault." She apologizes, standing up straight with her hands on her head.
"Don't apologi-" Down the road I hear a faint "Harry!" I look around and spot a few girls a couple blocks away, rushing towards me.
"Hey, do you need a ride?" I ask her quickly, bouncing back and forth on my feet. I want to see my fans but I don't want this girl to change her views on me. Hell, to her I'm just a normal guy. People that know who I am want to be around me because I have money.
She smiles and stands up, pulling her bike up with her. "No. But thanks. I think I'll just get an Uber."
I turn back and see one of the girls waiting for her friend to catch up with her. I chuckle shakily, I turn back to her. "Are you sure?"
She nods slowly, eyeing me. "I'm completely sure."
"C-come on," I rush. "It's the least I could do."
She looks me up and down until her eyes land on mine. Her clear blue eyes spill into my soul. Her shoulders slump and a slight smile plants itself on her face. "It's very kind of you but I can get home myself."
I nod slowly and chew the inside of my cheek. "Well it was very nice to see you again, Emery."
I slide into my car and speed off.
