Chapter 2

Miya walks outside and approaches Sunjaya. He is equipped with a somewhat small black backpack, his hair up in a small bun, and his high and mighty sword hanging on his left side. Miya wolf whistles at the sight of him, laughing when Sunjaya turns towards her in surprise. He laughs too and poses a silly pose. "Ready to go Miya? I'm lucky enough that Boss has let me go, said that getting fresh air and some exercise will be good for me." Sunjaya says, sighing. Miya elbows Sunjaya lightly. "See? I told you that he cares for you, deep down." That only made Sunjaya sigh more loudly. "Until afterwards he threw me my sword, almost hitting my face. Couldn't he be more careful with that? It could've killed me! After that he also threw me my backpack and practically kicked me out of the diner." Sunjaya proclaims, putting his hands on his hips. Miya rolls her eyes, "I still think that he cares for you." "You're alone on that." Sunjaya says back.

The pair starts to walk in the direction of the entrance gate of the town. While they walk, Miya looks around to see all of the somewhat familiar faces of her former classmates, or customers that her parents helped. She smiles at all of the memories that's coming to her head and grows more confident. When they approach the gate, two guards stand by it. "Miya! Leaving the town are you?" One of the guards ask. Miya nods and reaches into her bag, pulling out the letter from the king. She hands it to the guard and the two guards read the letter together. The other guard claps her hands together and smiles, but something was off.

"A letter from the king himself? That's wonderful Miya!" The female guard says. Sunjaya takes note of the fake smile that the female guard seems to have on. The male guard hands back the letter and walks toward the bell by the gate. "You two can pass through, but be careful on the way there you hear? It's not an easy journey." Miya bows politely and Sunjaya nods. The male guard rings the bell and the gate starts to open. The nearby villagers turn towards the gate and shout goodbye to the two. The gate rarely opens in the town, so it catches everyone's attention whenever it does open.

Miya and Sunjaya walk backward as they wave goodbye at the crowd starting to form. Miya sees the group of girls who squeal when Sunjaya waves to them. She laughs and jabs Sunjaya in the side. "You've always been popular with the girls huh? I bet they are going to miss you dearly." Sunjaya blushes and shakes his head. "Uh, maybe? I don't really think so." Miya only laughs harder. The two start to walk on the path outside of the town. Miya looks up and stares at the blue, bright sky above her. "I'm going to miss home. I mean, it's my first time outside of the town in my life." Sunjaya looks at the sky as well. "Don't worry, I haven't been outside the town either. The King sent you a map along with the letter right?" Miya looks in her bag and searches for a good 5 minutes. Afterwards she looks at Sunjaya and shakes her head. Sunjaya makes a confused noise and runs his hand through his hair.

"You're kidding right? He's the King, but he can't even help two citizens he considers to be great help in the war, one that he INVITED no less, find their way to his castle?" Miya snorts and looks at the sign that's nearby. "I guess we'll just have to find the way there by ourselves."
