Chapter 1

A little girl named Miya Chifumi, about 5 years old, runs through a door leading to the garden of her home. Two adults are waiting around the rose bushes. Miya reaches the parents and the male adult, AKA her father, sweeps her off the ground.

"Ready to start learning magic for the first time?" Says Tadashi Chifumi, Miya's father. Miya nods eagerly, Tadashi laughs and nods to the female adult, Ayumi, also Miya's mother. She starts to form her hands into a position like she is holding a small ball. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Ayumi opens her eyes and opens her hands to show Miya the glowing ball of light inside. Miya gasps and reaches out to touch the light. Ayumi smiles and pulls away.

"Why don't you try it yourself Miya? It's a very simple spell to begin with." Ayumi says. The light disappears from Ayumi's hands and she reaches out to grab Miya's hands. "Just form your hands like this, like you are trying to hold a ball inside your hands. Now, keep your hands still, and think of that ball forming in your hands."

Ayumi holds Miya's hands in place as Miya closes her eyes, trying to copy her mother. A small light starting to form inside of Miya's cupped hands. Miya feels the warmth inside of her hands and she opens her hands a bit, taking a peak of the light inside of her hands. She gasps and looks at her parents excitedly. Her parents smiles and hugs her tighter, the three of them laughing together.

Miya is now 7 years old, and she is sitting at the table in the middle of the kitchen at the dining table. She clutches her cup of hot chocolate tight. An old woman walks in the kitchen, she also holding a cup as well. She sits across of Miya at the table. The old woman looks at the window behind Miya and starts to speak in Japanese. "Tadashi and Ayumi were always so kind, many villagers who were sick or their animals would come to them. Tadashi would also help build new buildings with his strong and powerful magic, lifting up the heavy wood. All they ever wanted was to help more and more people, so they left Belgur to go to incoming war. They are brave aren't they?"

Miya nods, looking up from her cup. She loves the old woman, also known as Grandma Chifumi. Miya didn't exactly mind being left at Grandma Chifumi's house, but sometimes she wonders when they are coming back. Grandma Chifumi continues to talk about Miya's parents, while Miya stares back into her cup, the chocolate instead spinning in a slow circle. Miya closes her eyes and sighs deeply.

~TIME SKIP~

The kitchen is empty. The lights off and paint starting to peel off the walls. Miya walks into the kitchen, turning on the lights as she walks inside. She waves her hand and gives a lamp light. Miya finishes tying her hair into a ponytail and start to make breakfast. Miya looks over at the piece of paper in the middle of the dining table. "I still can't believe I actually got a letter from the King himself! I still wonder how he knows about my work here in this village though...maybe the guards at the gate?" Miya thinks to herself as she sits herself at the table and begins to eat breakfast.

Miya gets dressed and grabs her bag, strapping it over her shoulder. She walks out the door, looking at her house one last time before running over to the nearby tavern that she is so very familiar with. She stands outside the tavern, staring at the old sign that was longed due for a new one. Miya walks inside, with very little people inside. She walks over to the guy working at the bar, takes a sit and looks at the guy. He's tall, dark red hair that was clearly dyed, glistening brown skin. He tucks a piece of loose hair behind his ear, which has a scar on it. He looks at Miya, and smiles.

"Sorry, I think you're a bit too young to be sitting here." The man says, leaning against one arm on the bar. Miya laughs with the man. The man picks up a cup and starts to wipe it clean. "So? What was the really important news that you had to barge in here so early?" Miya nods, reaches into her bag and pulls out the letter. She slides the letter over for the man to read. He gasps.

"You actually got requested to go over to the castle? Miya, you're a hero now!" The man exclaims, making a few people look over at him. He blushes a little and slides the letter back to Miya. His face looks a little sad, and he turns around, back facing Miya, to put the cleaned dishes away. "What's wrong Sunjaya? Should I just not go? I mean, I'm aware of the dangers ahead and-" Sunjaya turns back around, a smile back on his face. It stops Miya's rambling.

"No, I really think you should go. I mean, it's such a great opportunity for you and I'm super glad for you. I'm just going to miss you, that's all. Isn't that why you came here? To say goodbye?" Miya looks at the letter in her bag and she looks back to Sunjaya, smiling widely. "Actually, I came here because I wanted you to come with me! In the letter, the King recommended that I didn't go alone, because it was going to be tough. I know how powerful you are with that sword of yours, I think it could really help me out! Als-" Sunjaya stops her rambling yet again by laughing and patting Miya's hands. "Okay okay! You had me with the very first sentence!" The two laugh, and Sunjaya goes into the backroom.

Sunjaya pops his head out from the backroom. "Uh...I guess you should wait here until I'm done with my shift for today. I gotta break the news out to Boss." Miya nods and stands up, giving Sunjaya a thumbs up as a good luck sign. Sunjaya gives a small nervous smile and disappears back to the room. Miya walks over to a table and sits down. "I guess since I'm here, I'll order something." Miya thinks to herself. She waves to a waiter, calling them.

Author's Note: Hi there, this is an original story that I had to write in one of my classes, and since I liked it so much, I decided to put it here! As of right now, the book doesn't have a cover and an description, but that'll be fixed later. Thank you for reading this bad first chapter and I hope you stick around for the rest of the story!
