Chapter 49 - Grief
Erica was laid on her bed, she'd gotten up early again. Although, it doesn't exactly count if you don't go to sleep.
"Erica? Dear?" Molly chapped on her door.
"Yes mum?"
"Are you up?"
"I'm up." Erica nodded, walking up to the door.
"Come down for breakfast."
"Right." Erica opened the door, rubbing her eyes.
Molly walked downstairs and sat with the rest of the Weasleys. Erica followed after her, sitting at her usual spot at the table. She wanted to sit there and pretend it was all fine but it wasn't the same.
"Well- I'd like to dedicate this meal to Fred." Molly smiled.
"I'm sure he'd appreciate it, dear." Arthur looked up at her.
Molly nodded slowly,"Would anyone like to say anything?"
Erica shook her head, looking down at the table.
"I think Fred would really like this mum, epecially since it's his favourite breakfast." Percy nodded.
"Thank you, Percy."
The Weasleys all then began to eat their breakfast, George turning to Erica,"How about you come with me to the shop?"
"That would be nice." Erica nodded.
"Good, I need help." He hummed.
"I like helping, I'll help." Erica smiled.
George nudged his sister, giving a small smile back. Erica leaned against George, actually eating some of her breakfast.
George rubbed her back. Erica needed to eat more. Erica hugged George before letting go soon after. Her plate was empty but she hadn't taken much in the first place.
"I'll come up and grab you soon, yeah?" George looked at Erica
"Yeah." Erica nodded and got up from the table, going to get dressed.
Erica then walked upstairs, going past the twins room. It felt empty, having only George in it. Erica shook her head as she walked into her room, she had to try and stop thinking about it. At least she had Percy back, although she hadn't been in a very talkative mood. After ten minutes, George knocked on her door.
"You can come in." Erica told him as she tied her shoes.
George walked in, closing the door,"There's my favourite sister... Don't tell Ginny."
"Ginny doesn't mind." Erica shook her head.
George chuckled and sat next to her,"Ready to be my helper?"
"I'm ready."
"How would you like to get there?" George hummed.
"I'm not fussed." Erica shook her head.
"Apparating?"
"That'll be the quickest."
George held out his hand,"Then let us leave." He smiled.
Erica smiled back, closing her eyes as she took his hand.
"Off to Neverland." George joked as they apparted.
They soon landed in the middle of the joke shop. It felt so... Bittersweet being back again.
"How are you feeling, really?" George sat down.
"I can't sleep, Georgie." Erica shook her head,"I'm tired."
George sighed,"I'm sorry Er... I am."
"You don't need to be, it's not your fault." Erica shook her head.
"And it's not yours either, so don't feel like it is." George rubbed her arm.
Erica leaned against him,"Everytime I close my eyes I see them, the bodies.."
George hugged his sister's arm,"They shouldn't have died. No one should have."
"I miss them."
"I miss them too... I miss Fred."
"I know you do." Erica held George closer to her,"But we're going to keep this business alive, for him."
"He'll be watching from the skies, proud of us."
Erica looked up, she really hoped Fred was proud of her.
"He's proud of you, I know it." He nodded.
Erica smiled softly, slowly letting go of George,"Right, how can I help?"
"You can start with those boxes, they just need unboxed."
"Anywhere in particular that I should put the stuff?" Erica asked.
"Just on the shelves where they're marked."
"Got it." Erica gave him a thumbs up as she walked off.
"Be careful!"
"I will be!"
George pointed at her as he went in the till. Erica sighed as she headed towards the boxes and began to unpack.
So many memories of Fred in this shop... He was everywhere. They built up this business together... And now he was gone. But she knew Fred was watching down on her, smiling down. And she was going to stay strong for him, stay alive.
Throughout the day, the shop was getting busy. It was one of the busiest days they had had since the war. As the shop got busier, Erica had resigned herself to hiding in the back room, cleaning it up a bit. It was too crowded.
"Hey, everything okay?" George walked inside.
"I'm fine, it just got a bit too... Crowded in there for my liking."
"That's okay. If you need anything just let me know." George nodded,"I can make it quieter if its too loud."
"No, it's fine. I can cope." Erica shook her head.
"I don't want you getting overwhelmed."
"I'm not overwhelmed."
"You're fidgeting."
"Am not." Erica put her hands behind her back.
"Are too." He chuckled.
Erica sighed and walked up to George, hugging him. George hugged back, stroking her hair.
"I'll be okay, honest." Erica told him.
"Do you want another couple minutes in here?"
"Mhm." Erica nodded.
"Take as long as you need." George kissed her head, leaving the room.
Once out, he turned around and lifted his wand, soundproofing the room for Erica. Erica smiled softly and sat down, resting her hesd against a shelf.
The room then became silent, none of the customers loud chattering was getting in the room. It was safe there, a peaceful place compared to the chaos beyond the door.
Erica knew she could come here whenever she was upset or overwhelmed. She didn't want to have a meltdown in front of customers. It was her little area, like a cool down room. A room to breath and calm down.
It was perfect for her. Once she was calm enough, she could go back outside and finish helping George. Which she wanted to do, she didn't want to go home and let him down.
After a few more minutes, George came back into the room,"Alright?"
"I'm alright now." Erica nodded as she stood up.
"You sure?"
"I'm sure."
George nodded, holding the door open for her. Erica smiled at him as she walked back into the main part of the shop.
George closed the door and walked beside her,"Look, there's Hermione."
"Why's she here?" Erica asked.
"Doing some afternoon shopping?" George shrugged.
"Afternoon shopping here?"
"She's your friend." George hummed.
"I know."
"Go and see her." George nudged her.
"I'm going." Erica nodded as she walked over.
"Erica." Hermione smiled, turning to her.
"Mione." Erica smiled back.
"How have you been?"
"Coping." Erica nodded,"What about you?"
"Me too." She sighed,"I gave my parents their memories back."
"That's good."
"I miss you, we should all hang out again." Hermione nodded.
"We should." Erica nodded slowly.
"You haven't been writing." Hermione leaned against the counter.
"Neither have you." Erica pointed,"Besides, I haven't been doing much of anything."
"Well, doing this will pass time." Hermione nodded,"Do you think you'll go back to school for the last year?"
"No, no, I don't think I will." Erica shook her head.
"I think I will... I want to get my final grades." Hermione sighed.
"Well, I'm sure you'll get them." Erica hummed.
"I hope so. I was even thinking about running for Minister one day." Hermione smiled.
"Oh, you totally should. You'd be great." Erica told ber.
"You think?"
"I do think."
"I'll have your vote then." Hermione nodded.
"Obviously."
"I'll send you a letter on when we should hang out."
"Of course, I'll tell Ron." Erica smiled.
"Good. I have to go, but I'll see you again soon, okay?" Hermione hummed.
"I'll hold you to it."
"Bye Erica." Hermione waved and left the shop.
Erica smiled after her before walking back to George.
"She okay?" George placed an item in front of her.
"She's okay." Erica picked it up.
"Can you give this to the lady over there?" George pointed.
"Of course." Erica spun around.
"In the blue sweater." George whispered.
"Thanks." Erica whispered as she walked upbto her.
"Oh! Just in time." The witch turned around.
"Here you go, Ma'am." Erica handed it to her.
"Tell Fred I said thank you." The witch nodded, taking the gift and leaving the store.
"I... I will."Erica nodded slowly.
It wasn't the witch's fault... She didn't know about Fred passing away. It was an easy mistake to make with the twins. Erica shook her head, walking back to George and hugging him.
"You okay?" George rubbed her back.
"Mhm, she said thank you."
"I think that's all I need you for." George nodded,"You think you wanna head home now?"
"Yes please."
"I'll see you when I'm home, yeah?" He rubbed her back.
"Of course." Erica smiled softly.
George pulled away,"I won't be home for dinner."
"I can save you some if you want."
"I'll be okay, you eat it." George assured her.
"Whatever you say." Erica shook her head before apparating back.
"Woah- Erica." Percy jumped.
"Percy." Erica smiled.
"Where were you?"
"At the shop, with George."
"Right." Percy nodded,"So... I wanted to show you something."
"What is it?" Erica raised a brow.
"I've been doing some research, about your autism." Percy told her.
"My- Hang on, you... Believe me?" Erica blinked.
Percy sighed,"Yeah... And I'm so sorry that I never believed you in the first place."
"It's... Okay." Erica smiled,"I'm just glad that you believe me now."
"If there's anything you need- I'm willing to help."
"I appreciate that Percy."
"I'm sorry for not being a good big brother."
"Percy, you were a good brother." Erica shook her head.
"I wasn't there for you. Any of our family."
"I-I know but... But you came back." Erica hugged him.
Percy sighed and hugged back, stroking her hair.
"And sure, I was upset, but I just missed you."
"I hurt you."
"I know... But I forgive you. "
Percy looked at her,"Thank you."
"I love you." Erica held onto him tighter.
"I love you too, Erica." Percy smiled.

Parker looked off in a daze, sitting in the living room of her Aunt's house. It was where she was hiding for a few months.
"Parker? Can you come help me for a minute?" Andromeda called to her.
"Yeah, coming." Parker blinked and got up, going over to find Andromeda.
Andromeda was stood in the nursery, holding Teddy,"There you are. Someone won't go down for his nap."
Parker chuckled,"He knows how to stay up."
"Can you help? He loves you."
"Course." Parker hummed, holding her arms out.
Andromeda smiled and handed Parker the young boy.
"Hi Tedster." Parker smiled softly,"You gotta get some sleep or else you'll get cranky... Then I'll get cranky."
"No cranky." Teddy huffed.
"If we don't wanna be cranky, then we get some sleep." She poked his nose.
"Not tired." Teddy held onto her finger.
Parker sighed,"What if I sit with you?"
"Yes, yes!" Teddy smiled.
"I already started dinner." Parker nodded to her aunt.
"Thank you, darling." Andromeda smiled, rubbing her back,"Should I check on it while you put Teddy to sleep?"
"Yeah." Parker nodded again.
Andromeda smiled at Parker before she walked out, heading for the kitchen.
"Okay, lay down." Parker put Teddy back in his bed, sitting beside him.
"Sit." Teddy patted beside him.
Parker did as she was told,"Yes sir."
Teddy smiled and hugged her.
"Hi Teds." Parker smiled and hugged back.
"If I nap, you nap." Teddy looked up at her.
"I don't need sleep right now." She stroked his hair, he had gotten his brightly coloured hair from his mother.
"Then I no nap." Teddy crossed his arms.
"Teddy." Parker copied him.
"Hmph."
"Don't hmph me." Parker gasped.
"I hphm." Teddy looked up at her.
Parker hummed, closing her eyes. Teddy yawned, cuddling into her side. Parker opened her eyes and looked down at him. Teddy was fast asleep, his little hands holding onto her arm.
Parker smiled softly, she wanted a future with kids in it. But right now? It wasn't the time.
"Managed to get him to sleep?" Andromeda asked quietly as she walked back in.
"You know it." Parker smiled.
"Worked your little spell, hm?" Andromeda chuckled.
"I'm the best." Parker hummed.
Andromeda knelt beside Teddy's bed,"You ever thought about having kids?"
Parker looked at Andromeda,"All the time." She nodded.
"With anyone in particular?"
"There's... This boy."
"A boy, huh?" Andromeda raised a brow.
"His name's Blaise." Parker smiled.
"Oh, that's a lovely name."
"He's really nice and- God, Andy he's amazing." Parker sighed,"But I said no when he asked me to be his girlfriend."
"It was because you had to lay low, wasn't it?" Andromeda shook his head,"He could've come stay here."
"I couldn't risk him getting hurt." Parker gently stroked Teddy's hair.
"I know, dear." Andromeda sighed.
"I doubt he'd wait that long for me."
"If it's true love, he will." Andromeda hummed.
Parker looked at Andromeda,"Teddy should be glad to have a grandmother like you."
"And I bet he's glad to have a cousin like you."
Parker smiled softly,"I'm just the best to be around."
"Of course you are." Andromeda nodded as she stood up,"Dinner's nearly ready though."
"I'll be there in a minute."
"Alright." Andromeda smiled before she headed back to the kitchen.
"You're gonna be a good kid." Parker kissed Teddy's head, getting up slowly.
Teddy stirred slightly but he just rolled over, staying fast asleep. Parker chuckled, pulling the blankets over him before going out to her Aunt. Andromeda was in the kitchen, just setting the food onto plates for them.
"Has Harry been round to see him yet?" Parker asked.
"A few times." Andromeda nodded,"I didn't expect him to be good with kids."
"I'm gonna write to them all, see if we can arrange a date we can hang out."
"I'm sure you're friends would love that." Andromeda told her, setting the two plates on the table.
"You'd love Erica. She's always wanted to meet you." Parker hummed.
"I'm glad to hear that."
Parker sat down,"Is your owl here?"
"He's in my room."
"Then I'll send a letter after dinner." Parker nodded.
"That sounds like a good idea."
"Anyway, let's dig in." Parker picked up her fork.
With that, the pair started to eat. It was nice, having dinner togther. Just the two of them, not by themselves, not gathered round by people they didn't know. Just family together. It may have taken nearly seven years but now Parker got to have that, she got to enjoy a meal without being stressed about what evil scheme was being plotted.
"Andy?" Parker looked at her.
"Yes dear?" Andromeda tilted her head.
"Thank you." Parker smiled softly.
