Chapter 15 - The Chamber of Secrets
"So... Many... Stairs." Erica leaned against a wall after stepping out of the portrait.
"Who's there?" She heard her brother speak.
"I'm there."
"Erica?" Percy looked at the portrait.
"Me." She nodded, opening it
"What are you doing?' He sighed,"I've told you not to use those portraits."
"I came to see you." Erica pointed, stepping out.
"It's getting late." Percy pointed.
"So? One of my friends just got petrified."
"They- Who?"
"Hermione." Erica sighed,"But that's not all! She had Ollie's mirror."
"Oliver's mirror? Why?"
Erica shrugged,"Come on."
Percy sighed and let her come in properly. Luckily, when you're a Head Boy, you get a room to yourself.
"Can I have a hug now?" Erica asked.
"I-I guess so." Percy sighed and hugged her.
"Thank you." Erica looked down.
"We'll find out who's doing this Erica." Percy assured her.
"I'm scared, Percy.."
"Because of the petrifying?"
Erica nodded
"Hey... I won't let anything happen to you." Percy smiled softly.
"Promise?" Erica looked up at him.
"I promise." Percy nodded.
Erica smiled up at him,"I love you, Percy."
"Love you too, Er." Percy rubbed her arm,"Now, as I was saying-"
He began to scold her for being out so late but he heard a knock at his door.
"I'm not here." Erica shook her head, hiding underneath his bed.
"Quiet.' Percy pointed before he opened his door.
McGonagall was stood there,"Mr Weasley, can come in?"
"Oh- Yes, of course, Professor." Percy stepped out the way.
McGonagall stepped in and let out a sigh,"I have some unfortunate news, Mr Weasley."
"I'm listening..' Percy nodded slowly.
"I discovered another petrified student... It's Wood."
"What?... Oliver?"
"Yes, unfortunately." McGonagall sighed.
"Oh... When did this happen?" Percy looked at her.
"Early this evening." McGonagall shook her head.
"Can I see him?"
"I'll take you to see him tomorrow morning, it's not safe right now."
"Alright... Thank you for informing me, Professor."
Professor McGonagall gave him a nod before leaving. That's when Erica crawled out from under the bed. Percy just stood there for a second in shock before slowly sitting on his bed. Erica sat beside him, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"He can't... Erica." Percy turned to her.
"I'm sorry, Percy." Erica shook her head.
"I have to see him tomorrow."
"Or... We can go see him now."
"Are you crazy?" Percy gasped.
"Probably." Erica nodded as she got up,"C'mon."
"But the restrictions-"
"Screw the restrictions, we're going to see your boyfriend." Erica pointed.
Percy nodded,"We're going to see him."
"I know a shortcut."
"Those tunnels are creepy."
"They're helpful."
Percy hesitated before he nodded slowly. Erica smiled and took his hand, leading him out of the room and into a portrait hole, closing it behind them before continuing to walk.
"I swear there was a spider there." Percy pointed as they walked.
"Just don't tell Ron, it's fine." Erica stopped in front of a portrait, peeking through but deciding to keep going.
Percy looked around, why had he never thought to use these before?
Erica lead him along, stopping in front of another portrait,"This one is close to the hospital wing."
"You're coming with me, right?"
"I'd never make you do this alone." Erica assured him, hopping out.
"Thank you, Erica." Percy sighed and walked out behind her.
Erica smiled up at him before creeping into the silent hospital wing, not even Madame Pomfrey was there.
"Which one.." Percy looked around before he recognised the Gryffindor robes and walked to the bed.
Erica was hesitant. She'd been scared before, this wasn't it. She didn't know what she was feeling but she didn't want to see Oliver anymore.
"You don't need to come all the way." Percy assured her.
Erica didn't look at Oliver but she stepped forward and hugged Percy. Percy looked down and hugged her slowly.
"Percy, what do we do..? What's doing this?"
"I don't know Erica... I don't know." Percy sighed and rubbed her back.
"I'm gonna find it and- and stop it." Erica held Percy tighter.
"I want you to be careful." Percy warned.
"I still don't know what it is." She sighed.
"None of us do. Which is why you're going to be careful in case you end up like this... I'm not losing you too."
"You're never going to lose me, Percy." She leaned against him.
"I better not... You're my favourite sister. Don't tell Ginny." He pointed.
"I won't."
Percy chuckled before pulling away and turned to Oliver. Erica sighed and looked towards the door, she'd keep watch.
Percy hesitated and walked forward,"You must be freezing."
He grabbed a blanket and put it over Oliver. Erica turned slightly to watch the pair. It hurt. She could tell how upset Percy was.
"We're gonna get you free of this... I'll be here everyday visiting you."
"That's a promise."
"Even Erica will come say hi." Percy smiled at Oliver.
"Someone has to be the responsible one." Erica nodded.
"I'm very responsible." Percy pointed to his Head Boy badge.
"That shiny thing means nothing to me."
"It means a lot to me."
"I know." Erica sighed softly.
"He'll... He'll pull through." Percy nodded.
"Of course he will." Erica told him,"He has to."
Percy sighed and kissed Oliver on the head before he turned to Erica,"Can... Can we go back?"
Erica nodded and took Percy's hand. She paused though when she heard footsteps.
"Careful." Percy whispered.
"Someone's coming."
"Hide." Percy nudged her.
Erica looked around and bent down, hiding underneath Hermione's bed. Percy fixed his robes before he walked out to see who was there.
Professors. Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape and Madame Pomfrey were all hurrying towards the hospital wing.
"Professors?"
"Mr Weasley? What on earth are you doing here?" Professor McGonagall questioned.
"I... I got too worried about Oliver, I had to visit him... I know it's after hours, I'm sorry." Percy admitted.
Professor McGonagall sighed,"I'm afraid there's more worrying news at hand here."
"There's more?" Percy raised a brow.
"A student has been taken by the monster."
"You- Who?"
"Ginny Weasley."
"My- My sister?"
McGonagall nodded slowly and Erica froze up. Ginny?
"Where is she?"
"We don't-"
"Sorry I'm late- Oh- Hello everyone." Lockhart smiled,"What seems to be the trouble?"
Percy rolled his eyes before he tapped his foot, he needed to find Ginny.
"Ginny Weasley was taken by the monster." Professor McGonagall told him.
"Well, I do recall you saying you knew where the monster was hidden, Gilderoy." Snape spoke up,"Perhaps we leave this to you?"
"Oh- Yes, of course. Of course." Lockhart's smile dropped.
"That settles it. We'll let you deal with the monster, Gilderoy." McGonagall shook her head.
"Yes, yes. Thank you." Lockhart nodded slowly.
"You'd best hurry. After all, your skills are legendary." McGonagall hummed.
"Of course, Professor." Lockhart mentally cursed and ran out the room.
The other professors exchanged looks before walking off. That's when Erica crawled out.
"It's... It's a Basilisk." Percy whispered.
"What?" Erica hurried over to him.
"A Basilisk. That's what has done this... Which has our sister."
"There's no way Lockhart can save her... So I'll do it." Erica shook her head.
"Don't even think about it." Percy pointed.
"Not myself." Erica crossed her arms,"Who's gonna save Ginny if me and my friends dont?"
"The professors will, I'm not having you hurt."
"Percy, I have to-"
"Erica, please."
"Percy."
"I can't lose you too."
"You won't."
Percy cursed and sat down beside Oliver, taking his hand,"..I never saw you." He gestured for her to go.
"I love you." Erica whispered before running off.
"I love you too, Er." Percy sighed.
Erica hurried down the corridor and down the stairs, heading for the Slytherin dorms. Only to get who else? Her best friend.
Erica jumped into a portrait and ran some more before tumbling out in the Slytherin Common Room. That's where she saw Parker, putting a book away on the bookcase.
"Parker! Emergency!" Erica scrambled to her feet.
"Whoa- What are you doing here?" Parker asked.
"Getting help!"
"Okay! Explain the emergency." Parker held Erica by the shoulders.
"Sister- Basilisk!" Erica pointed to the door.
Parker looked at Erica,"Erica, deep breath in... And out."
"Right- Right.." Erica nodded slowly,"My sister has been taken by a basilisk."
"Ginny?' Parker's eyes widened,"And the Basilisk?'
"Yeah, the monster in the chamber." Erica nodded.
"Oh my god." Parker realised.
"Hurry, they put Lockhart in charge of saving her."
"Oh no." Parker sighed,"Let's get the boys and Hermione.'
"Just- Just the boys Parker." Erica shook her head.
Parker looked down,"Yeah... Sorry."
"Its okay... Lets just go."
"We're gonna get her back." Parker held Erica's hand.
"I know." Erica nodded quickly.
"Lead the way through the tunnels." Parker opened the portrait.
Erica nodded and started running. Soon enough they got to the Gryffindor common room, the lights out.
"Should I go get them?" Erica asked quietly.
"I'll wait down here." Parker answered.
Erica nodded and used her usual method to get into the boys dorm. When she arrived, she saw the boys already getting changed.
"Guys- We need to go now." She told them.
"We were there. Invisibility cloak." Harry held it up.
"Me too, I was under Hermione's bed." Erica sighed.
"Oh Merlin." He sighed.
"What? I had to help Percy." Erica shrugged.
"We saw, Oliver was petrified." Ron shook his head.
"Well, come on. We have to go before Lockhart does anything stupid!"
"To his office." Ron clapped.
Erica nodded and ran out in front of them to Parker.
"Hi boys." Parker waved.
"Oh- hi Parker." Harry waved back.
"Didn't think I was missing the fun, did you?" Parker hummed.
"I never would."
"Come on. We're going to Lockhart's office." Parker nodded for them to come.
"I'm so excited." Harry sighed as they all ran out.
Soon enough they got to Lockhart's office, bursting in only to see Lockhart... Packing his bags?
"Oi, you!" Erica pointed.
"You all should not be here!' Lockhart pointed.
"Too late, we are here. Besides, you need to save my sister." Erica told him.
"No, no. You see, I have a meeting to attend-"
"We don't believe you." Harry pointed,"Its all been lies, hasn't it?"
"You've been taking credit for other wizard's achievements." Parker walked closer.
Lockhart backed up,"Now listen here-"
"Is there anything you can do?" Erica questioned.
After a moment, he spoke,"I'm very skilled in memory charms."
"That's how you stole all those other people's work, isn't it?" Ron crossed his arms.
"Don't go accusing me, young man." Lockhart pointed.
"I'll accuse you because it's true." Ron got out his wand.
"Ron, your wand.' Parker reminded him.
"I'm not gonna use it, just scare him with it." Ron whispered.
"Hey, his wand actually looks quite nice." Erica picked up Lockhart's wand from the desk.
"Let go." Lockhart warned.
"Or what? We have wands, you don't." Erica pointed it at him.
"You're going to help us save Ginny." Parker told him.
"Dont let him run." Harry pointed as he slowly began to back out of the room.
They finally arrived at the girl's bathroom, Parker circling the sink.
"So it's here... Somewhere?" Erica raised a brow.
"Somewhere." Ron sighed.
"So helpful."
"Maybe you can speak Parsleytongue?" Parker suggested.
"Its always worth a shot." Harry agreed and turned to the sink, starting to speak parsletongue.
The sink made a few creaking noises before it began to open.
"Woah.." Erica gasped.
"Go." Harry pushed Ron in quickly before he jumped after him.
"Aw, I wanted to do that." Erica sighed before shoving in Lockhart,"Oh well."
"You got to do it to someone." Parker hummed.
"I know." Erica nodded, turning to Parker.
"Do not even think about it-"
"Push!" Erica shoved Parker's shoulder.
"Erica!' Parker groaned as landed in the rubble.
"It's fun." Erica told her as she landed beside her.
"Not falling to my possible death."
"Eh, it's fun." Erica shrugged.
"For you." Parker nudged her.
"You lived."
"Barley." She smiled.
"Aha!" Lockhart snatched Ron's wand from him, pointing it at the Herd.
"Go on, shoot me." Erica raised her hands.
"What are you doing?" Ron looked at her.
"Just let her." Parker whispered.
Ron nodded slowly as Lockhart raised his wand,"Obliviate!"
Lockhart then flew back into the rubble and knocked himself out.
"Ha! What an idiot!" Erica chuckled.
"Is he dead?" Parker tilted her head.
"Hopefully." Ron sighed.
That's when the walls around them began to shake, rubble falling in between them all.
"Look out!" Ron pulled Erica back.
"Erica!" Parker's hand slipped out of her best friends as the rubble fell between them.
"Parker?" Erica hurried forward although her and Ron were separated from Parker and Harry,"No! Why do we have Lockhart?"
"He's the best." Parker joked as she looked around,"We'll continue on!"
"Save my sister, we'll- We'll deal with him." Erica sighed.
"We'll find her, promise." Harry nodded as they turned walking off.
"Now... What do we do with you?" Ron looked down at Lockhart.
"Over there." Parker pointed to the metal door which had snaked on it.
"Should I speak to it again?" Harry turned to her.
"Unfortunately I can't speak it Harry, so yeah." Parker hummed.
Harry nodded and again, began speaking parseltongue to the door. One by one, the snakes slithered away and it opened.
"I'm not letting you push me like Erica did." Parker quickly climbed down the ladder.
"I wasn't planning on that, don't worry." Harry assured her, climbing down as well.
Parker then looked around, taking in the surroundings. A large... Chamber. There were strange statue heads around and the floor was wet.
Parker then looked ahead and saw a young, ginger laying unconscious with a black book beside her,"Ginny!"
Harry hurried over to her and crouched down, placing a hand on her wrist,"She's freezing."
"Merlin knows how long she's been down here for." Parker sighed.
"Well, let's get out of here."
"Come on, Gin." Parker went to pick her up.
"Not so fast."
Parker stopped, looking at Harry to see if he just spoke. Harry seemed just as shocked as he looked at Parker before an older boy walked over from the shadows.
"Harry." Parker stood up.
"Tom? What are youd oing here?" Harry asked him.
"Oh, so we're on first name bases with the guy who just emerged from the shadows?" Parker nodded.
"Well I had to come and see you both save Ginny, didn't I?" Tom chuckled.
"Well, now that you're here, how about you help us?" Harry sighed.
"Oh no... No. I don't think I will." Tom hummed.
Harry raised a brow in confusion,"Tom?"
Ton lifted his wand in the air, writing 'Tom Marvolo Riddle' before he changed it to 'I am Lord Voldemort'.
"Right- Parker, we have to go." Harry hurried to his feet.
"We need Ginny-"
That's when Tom raised his hand and began speaking parseltongue.
"Oh fuck." Parker grabbed Harry's hand and ran.
That's when something slithered out of a gateway... The Basilisk!
"Oh no." Parker backed up.
"Don't look it in the eyes!" Harry shook his head.
Parker covered her eyes as she ran... Only to trip over a crack in the stone.
"Parker!" Harry turned back and ran to her.
Parker looked back as she heard a cawing noise,"Duck!" She pulled him down.
Harry fell to his knees as Fawkes flew overhead, dropping something near them before attacking the Basilisk.
"He's attacking its eyes so we don't get petrified." Parker smiled, looking over to the object that was dropped.
"The Sorting Hat?" Harry raised a brow.
"What the.." Parker pulled it over.
Harry went inside of it and pulled out... Gryffindor's sword?
"Parker, stay here." Harry turned.
"I'll try keep Tom distracted." Parker nodded.
Harry nodded to her as he ran off with the sword. Parker looked around before she grabbed a rock and threw it at Riddle.
"Rude." He scoffed.
"Asshole." Parker muttered and threw more, distracting him from Harry.
"You are such a nuisance." Tom spat.
Meanwhile, Harry had climbed on top of a pillar as the Basilisk tried to attack him.
"And you are so ugly." Parker hummed, throwing another.
Tom went to retort but that's when Harry stabbed the Basilisk, right through its head. Parker stepped back and her eyes widened as the Basilisk fell to the ground in front of them.
Harry staggered down from the pillar and over to Parker where the diary lay on the ground.
"Stab it." Parker pointed.
Harry nodded and crouched by the diary, raising the Basilisk fang that he pulled from his arm and stabbed the book.
"No-!"
That's when Tom began meeting the same fate as his Basilisk. Slowing melting into nothing. Harry let out a sigh of relief, dropping the basilisk fang on the ground.
"Harry, you're hurt." Parker leaned over.
"I'll be alright." He shook his head.
Parker looked down at Ginny on the floor as she began to wake up
Harry smiled softly,"Hey Gin, its good to see you're okay."
"Hi Harry." Ginny blinked at him, smiling,"And- Hi Parker."
Fawkes then landed by Harry and began... Crying onto his arm.
"Phoenix tears... They have healing powers." Parker realised.
"You're a good boy, Fawkes." Harry smiled at the bird.
"Harry! Parker!"
They both turned around, Parker smiling before she ran up and hugged her best friend who had made it to them.
"You're both okay!" Erica smiled.
"You're okay too." Parker hummed.
"Ginny!" Ron ran over to her.
"Hi Ron." Ginny chuckled
"Never do anything like that again." He pointed.
"It wasn't my bloody fault." Ginny crossed her arms.
"We were both worried about you- And Erica broke Lockhart!" Ron crossed his arms.
"Did not!" Erica shot back.
"How did you break him?" Harry sighed.
"I threw a rock at his head." Erica shrugged,"He asked if I lived here."
"I threw rocks at Voldemort." Parker nodded.
"I'm sorry- What?" Ron blinked.
"Oh! Yeah- We saw Tom Riddle, who was controlling the Basilisk. And Tom turned out to be a younger version of Voldemort." Parker explained.
"But he's gone now." Harry stood up, holding the diary,"Destroying this seemed to get rid of him."
"Woah... Voldemort put himself in a book?" Erica glanced at it, picking it up.
"He's a weirdo." Parker nodded.
"I'd put myself in something harder to destroy, like a rock at the bottom of the sea." Erica told them.
"That's a good idea." Parker pointed.
Erica smiled before sighing,"Well, let's go."
Ginny ran up to Erica and took her hand,"Promise nothing will happen?"
"Of course nothing will happen. I will fight anything that tries to take you again."
Ginny smiled and squeezed Erica's hand.
*********************************
"This is boring." Erica whispered to Parker.
"Tell me about it." Parker leaned back.
"When can we leave?"
"As soon as we find out how everyone is." Harry told them.
Parker looked back as she saw the door to Dumbledore's office open before she quickly turned around.
"Ew, why is he here?" Erica muttered as she watched Lucius enter.
"I don't want to talk to him." Parker sighed.
"You requested to see me, Professor?" Lucius raised a brow.
"Yes... Curiously Lucius, several members of the Ministry were under the impression that you had cursed the Weasleys to suspend me as Headmaster." Dumbledore spoke.
"I would never dream of harming the children." Lucius shook his head.
Parker looked at Erica with a 'Bullshit' look on her face. Erica nodded and glared at Lucius.
"Well I'm assuming then the culprit of all these killings has been stopped." Lucius held his cane
"Correct." Dumbledore nodded,"The former self of Lord Voldemort was destroyed by Harry Potter."
"You Know Who?" Lucius looked at the Herd and rolled his eyes,"Well... Well done, Potter."
Harry nodded briefly but he looked over at the others, they all knew it was Lucius' fault.
"Come on Dobby, we're leaving." Lucius pushed Dobby down the stairs.
"Oh, we can't have that." Erica shook her head
Parker stood up and looked at Erica,"Gimme your sock."
"My sock?"
"Your fluffy, yellow sock."
"Uhm, okay." Erica took off her shoe and gave Parker her sock.
"Harry, book." Parker npointed.
"Book." He lifted it off the desk and handed it to her.
"Bye." Parker ran after her father, putting the sock in the book,"Father?"
"Parker?" Lucius turned to her.
"You forgot your book... I know what you did." Parker handed it to him.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Lucius scoffed.
"You put this book in Ginny Weasley's cauldron before school started."
"I did no such thing."
"Liar."
Lucius rolled his eyes,"So what if I did?"
"You nearly killed my friend."
"You have no proof."
"I'll get it eventually." She handed the book to Lucius, giving a small smile to Dobby.
Lucius scoffed, handed the book to Dobby and turned, starting to walk,"Come Dobby."
Dobby looked inside the book, gasping,"Master has presented Dobby a sock!"
"What? I did no such-" Lucius spun around and drew his wand, eyes widely,"You lost me my servant!"
"I did no such thing." Parker smirked,"You handed Dobby the book."
Lucius pointed his wand at Parker,"Avada-"
Dobby quickly moved in front of Lucius and threw him back. Lucius flew backwards and landed at the end of the hall. He grumbled as he got up and marched off.
"Thank you, Dobby." Parker looked down at him.
"Dobby must protect Parker and her friends." Dobby nodded.
"Go." Parker patted his head before she ran off.
Dobby nodded and disappeared.
*********************************
"I should really have given Erica another sock." Parker sighed as she walked to the boys.
"I'm sure she'll be fine with just one." Ron shrugged.
"Speaking of, where is she?"
"Oh-" Ron looked around.
"She went to see Percy." Harry told them.
"Aw." Parker smiled.
"I feel like you know something I don't." Ron sighed.
"I'm her best friend, of course I know things you don't."
"But I'm her brother."
"So?"
"Nevermind." Ron sighed.
"I'm gonna go see Blaise." Parker grabbed an apple and ran off.
"Alright." Harry nodded.
*********************************
"He should be out by now." Percy tapped his foot.
"He'll be here soon." Erica told him.
"Are you sure?"
"Very sure."
Percy bit his cheek and looked around. That's when something caught Erica's eye, a certain Quiddich Captain.
"I think I'm gonna go and see if they're awake." Percy decided.
"No, wait." Erica grabbed his hand.
"What?" Percy sighed.
"You have to stay."
"For what particular reason?"
"B-because!"
"You're stuttering." He crossed his arms.
"Am not!"
"Erica."
"Shh, stay." She pointed.
"What's behind me? Honestly-" Percy turned around.
"Boo." Oliver grabbed his shoulders.
"Oli." Percy smiled and quickly hugged him.
"I missed you." Oliver sighed softly,"I missed this."
"I missed you too." Percy sighed.
"Why are you both so cute?" Erica crossed her arms,"I want to be that cute."
"Get a relationship then." Oliver joked.
"Maybe I will." She hummed.
"I have to meet them first."
"Fine." Erica sighed
"And approve of them." Oliver pointed.
"Babe." Percy sighed.
"I expected this from Percy, not you."
"Oh no, I'm the mother." Oliver nodded.
"I don't need another one, the one I have is already gonna be mad about what I d- I mean, what the twins did."
"What did the twins do?" Percy raised a brow.
"Absolutely nothing that you should be concerned with!" Erica pointed.
"Erica Maria Weasley." Percy crossed his arms.
"Percy Ignatius Weasley." Erica crossed her arms as well.
"Don't copy me." Percy warned.
'I'll copy you if I want to." Erica shook her head.
"Quoting us the most sincere form of flattery." Oliver hummed.
"Alright you two." Percy nudged them,"I'm gonna spend some time with Oliver before the train."
"Alright, I'll leave you to it. Be responsible." Erica pointed.
"Bye." Percy waved.
"I've got my eyes on you." Erica shook her head at Oliver and walked off.
*********************************
"Another year of hell gone." Parker leaned on Erica as they walked.
"But now it's summer and we can have some fun, no near death experiences!" Erica reminded her.
"Hopefully." Parker hummed.
"Stay out of trouble."
"Me? You need to as well." Parker pointed.
"I will." Erica sighed.
"Promise?" Parker held up her pinky.
"Promise!" Erica locked their pinkies.
"I'm gonna sit with Blaise on the way back, but I'll come say bye before I get off." Parker smiled.
"Okay, I'll see if I can sit with Percy. I need to keep an eye on him and Oliver."
"You're such a good sister." Parker hummed,"Bye Erica!"
"I know I am." She giggled,"Bye Parker!"
