Chapter 34 - What if Cedric survived AU?

Cedric let out a sigh of relief as he and Harry landed back outside of the maze, Triwizard Cup in hand.

"My boy! Yes my boy!" Amos laughed and jumped up.

Cedric smiled, patting Harry on the back.

"You did good, Harry."

"Thanks Cedric." Harry smiled.

"Come on, let's go celebrate."

Harry nodded and took his hand. Cedric smiled as the pair headed towards the cheering students

"Well done boys." Parker laughed.

"You did it!" Erica hugged Cedric.

"Told I could, didn't I?" Cedric hummed.

"You did, but was still worried, okay?"

"Come on, let's go in and eat. I'm starving." He sighed.

"Alright, you deserve it." She nodded.

"I'm thinking roast dinner." Cedric nodded.

"Sounds like a plan." Ron agreed.

"Who said it involved you?" Cedric smirked.

"I did." Ron stated I, turning to Harry,"Right?"

"I'm in the mood for a roast." Harry nodded.

"And I'm your best friend, so I'm coming." Ron pointed.

"Can he come, Ced? Can Parker and Hermione come too?" Harry asked him.

"I don't know- Oh, who am I kidding? Of course they can." Cedric chuckled.

"Thanks Cedric." Parker smiled.

"Not a problem. Now let's go."

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"I have been dying for this." Cedric ate some chicken.

"Not literally, I hope." Erica poked him.

"I'm obviously not dying." Cedric laughed.

"Are you definitely sure?"

"Do you trust me?" Cedric turned to her.

"Of course I do, I just don't trust many other things anymore."

"I'm a thing you can trust." Cedric assured her.

"That's a good point." Erica sighed

Cedric hummed and handed her a drink,"I'm always there, Er."

"And I'm very glad you are."

Cedric smiled, "How does it feel being friends with a Champion?... Champions." He looked at Harry.

"Pretty cool." Erica nodded.

"I'll miss you more." She leaned against him.

"And hey, if that boy messes with you. What do you do?" Cedric asked.

"Set him on fire?"

"Y'know what? Sure."

"Yes!" She smiled.

"Just be careful, don't get caught."

"I won't, I never have."

"You've gotten caught by Percy." He pointed out.

"He doesn't count."

"Many, many times." Cedric added.

"Oh, hush." Erica nudged him.

"Hey, remember that time when-"

"Ced!" Erica whined, covering his mouth.

"Remember what?" Parker leaned forward.

"Nothing!"

"Cedric?" Parker hummed.

"Don't. You. Dare."

"Cedric, I'm like her other best friend. Please?" Parker blinked.

"Oh don't know Erica.." Cedric smirked.

"Cedric, I swear-"

"What will you do?" Cedric laughed.

Erica crossed her arms,"I... I don't know yet."

"So, one time-" Cedric began.

"Stop!" She pushed him over.

Cedric laughed and shook his head.

"I know all, Erica." Parker winked.

"You know nothing!"

"Oh, I could tell Cedric things he doesn't know."

"I'm honestly not that bad." Erica pouted.

"Remember that time you snuck into his roo-" Parker began.

"Parker, shut up!"

Parker laughed and high fived Cedric.

"I'm going to stop telling you things." Erica shook her head.

"You know we love you." Cedric hummed.

"I know." She sighed.

That's when McGonagall came around and began telling the students to head to their beds.

"Well, good night you lot." Erica got up and walked off.

"Goodnight Erica." The Gryffindor trio waved before they walked off.

"Night Erica. Don't let her fight anyone, Cedric." Parker pointed.

"Trust me, if anyone wants a fight with her, they'll have to go through me." Cedric nodded as he followed Erica

Parker hummed and nodded,"Good lad."

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"Don't be there, don't be there, don't be there-" Erica muttered as she walked.

"Erica!" Hannah smiled.

"Fuck." She cursed under her breath.

"Good morning." Hannah hummed.

"Morning." Erica nodded slowly.

"What are you doing up so early?" Hannah crossed her arms.

"Just, y'know, going on a walk."

"At this time?"

"Is there a problem with me going at this time?"

"It's 5am."

"So?"

"I don't see why you feel the need to be up at this time." Hannah took a step forward to her.

Erica took a step back,"Look, I don't want any trouble.

"I'm only taking a step towards you." Hannah scoffed.

"Hannah, just let me go."

Hannah smirked and went to grab her wand but that's when an arm went around Erica's shoulder.

"Morning Er, was just coming to look for you." Cedric hummed.

"Morning, Ced." Erica held onto his arm.

"Cedric... Good morning." Hannah smiled.

"Go."

Hannah glared at Erica before she walked off.

"Everything okay?" Cedric asked.

"Yeah, everything's okay now." Erica nodded.

"What happened?" Cedric looked down at her.

"You stopped her before she could do anything." Erica sighed, She was just waiting here for me."

"Nothing but trouble. Her and Max." Cedric sighed.

"I mean, she used to be nice to me."

"Until Max?"

"Mhm." Erica nodded.

"Asshole." Cedric muttered.

"We already knew that though." Erica patted his arm.

"I just like stating it." Cedric nodded.

"Does it make you feel good?"

"Oh yeah." Cedric smiled at her.

"As long as it makes you feel good." Erica chuckled.

"Now... How about before breakfast we go do some Quiddich?" Cedric suggested.

"Yes!" Erica smiled.

"Don't tell anyone." Cedric pointed.

"Cedric, it's been what, four years and I've told no body."

"Hmmm... Okay, okay... Race you." Cedric smirked.

"You're on!" Eric dashed along.

"Come back!" Cedric chased after her.

"No!"

Cedric smiled, knowing she was okay was all he needed,"I can see you!"

"No, you can't" Erica skidded around the corner.

That's when Cedric grabbed her arms. She jumped, turning around.

"Got ya."

"Lemme go." Erica crossed her arms.

"Will you let me win the race?"

"I will not be defeated by you."

"Oh my- Parker what are you doing up?" Cedric turned to the other side, waiting for Eric's to look.

"Parker isn't there, silly-" Erica turned.

That's when Cedric bolted away, down the hallway.

Erica gasped and ran after him,"How dare you!"

"You always fall for it!"

"Because I trust you!"

"Bad choice!" Cedric laughed and ran outside.

"You... You are the worst." Erica sighed, still chasing him.

Soon enough, the two were outside in the Quidditch pitch.

Erica had grabbed two brooms and tossed one to Cedric.

"That's my move Weasley." Cedric smirked.

"Mine now, I stole it."

"I'll name one after you, how about that?"

"Wouldn't that be interesting?" Erica chuckled.

"The Erica." Cedric hummed before he jumped on his broom.

"You probably have one named after you." Erica shrugged, putting the other broom away.

"I'm not that good." Cedric sighed.

"Stop being so humble."

"What? I'm not."

"You are. Ask anybody, they'll say you're one of the best." Erica pointed.

"At Hogwarts, possibly." Cedric shrugged.

"Just admit it, you're a good player." Erica sighed.

"Alright, alright. I'm a good player." Cedric smiled.

"That's much better." Erica smiled back, And you always tell me how need more confidence."

"Oh, you do." Cedric nodded, "Now hop on."

Erica sighed and jumped, landing on his broom.

"How fast do you want?"

"Zoom!"

"Zoom it is." Cedric laughed before he sped off.

Erica held on tightly as they flew over the pitches.

"Anywhere you wanna go?"

"Not really, what about you?"

"Nope. Just our normal route then?"

"Alrighty, Ced!"

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"They'll be excited to see their favourite uncle." Cedric hummed.

"Who wouldn't be excited to see you?" Erica asked.

"Blaise's cats." Cedric shivered.

"They don't count." Erica pointed.

"They wouldn't be excited to see me though." Cedric shrugged.

"Just get in." Erica tried to pull him inside.

"I want to suprise them."

"Well, you can surprise them inside the house. I'm cold."

Cedric groaned and walked into the house.

"Thank you." Erica closed the door.

"Where are they?" Cedric put his bags down.

"Upstairs." Erica pointed.

"I'll be back." Cedric nodded before he ran upstairs.

"Good luck." Erica called to him

Cedric walked to the girls rooms and put his ear against Cedar's door.

"I'm telling you Ced, Matteo's not trying to steal your girl." Phoenix sighed

"It's Matteo." Cedar gave her a look.

"He already stole Frank's."

"This man can have many girlfriends."

Phoenix rolled her eyes,"Would taping Frank to the ceiling make you feel better?"

"Mhm."

"You heard her, get out from under there."

"No!" Frank shook his head.

"Frank, do need to drag you out? Because I will."

"I'm hiding."

"You're coming out, that's what you're doing."

"What the heck is going on?" Cedric walked in.

"Nothing, Uncle Ced." Phoenix pushed Frank's face back under the bed.

"Ow!" Frank groaned.

"Not even a hello?"

"You've been stood outside the door for ages, you don't need a hello." Phoenix shook her head.

"You heard?" Cedric chuckled.

"You aren't very sneaky."

"I am so."

"You're really not." Phoenix shook her head.

"Well can the favourite uncle get a hug?"

"Hm, can you?"

Cedric opened his arms and Cedar immediately got up to hug him

Cedric laughed and hugged Cedar,"Thank you."

"I don't like him." Frank pointed.

"What have I done?" Cedric raised a brow to Frank.

"You exist."

"Everyone exists."

"Your existence irritates me though."

"Why Frankie?" Cedric sighed.

"You're too close with my mum."

"I'm her best friend."

"And I'm her son."

"You have a point." Cedric hummed as he pulled away from Cedar.

"I always do."

"Well I brought gifts for everyone. But...If you don't like me Frank then guess I'll just keep it." Cedric sighed.

"This is bribery." Frank groaned.

"It's a shame, they're really good gifts." Cedric shrugged and handed the girls theirs.

Frank sighed and crawled out from under the bed,"I'm sorry."

"Hm?" Cedric turned to him.

"I said I'm sorry."

Cedric smiled and handed him his gift,"Thank you for saying sorry."

"Appreciate it because it's not happening again."

"Oh, come on, Frank."

"No."

"Fine. Enjoy your gift." Cedric hummed.

"I will try."

"I'll be downstairs with your mum." Cedric told them all before he went down.

"I still don't like him."

"Frank!" Phoenix turned to him.

"He's my favourite." Cedar shrugged.

"And I bet you're his." Frank rolled his eyes.

"You could be if you acted nicer."

"You're literally named after him." Frank reminded him.

"So?"

"You are clearly each other's favourites."

"Well... You could be his second favourite." Cedar shrugged.

"But why would I want that?" Frank asked.

"Because he's a great uncle."

"Whatever." He scoffed.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"I feel like Frank is warming up to me." Cedric nodded as he walked downstairs.

"See? It only takes him a bit of time to get used to people." Erica told him, sipping on her coffee.

"I'm getting somewhere with him." Cedric shrugged.

"That's good."

"Alright, let's get food on." Cedric nodded and clapped his hands.

"Anything you want in particular?" Erica asked him.

"I'm good with anything." Cedric shook his head.

"You're so helpful." Erica sighed.

"Pasta."

"I can do pasta." Erica nodded.

"Pasta it is." Cedric nodded,"I'll help out."

"Thanks, Ced." Erica hummed.
