Chapter 30 - Animal whisperer
"So are we still going to Parkers later?" Harry asked the others.
"Of course." Hermione nodded
"I wonder if she's alive. Haven't heard from her in a while." Ron ate his cookie.
"Of course she's alive, she's just busy." Erica rolled her eyes, sipping on her coffee.
"Doing?"
"Working, looking after the twins, her animals." Erica began listing things.
"She only has the cat and dog." Ron shrugged.
"And the owl... And the donkey." Erica pointed.
"Donkey?" Hermione blinked.
"You guys didn't know about the donkey?" Erica looked at them.
"No we didn't know about a donkey." Harry shook his head.
"Oh, I did." Erica nodded, sitting down her cup.
"Why the... Why does she have a donkey?" Ron asked.
Erica was silent, she actually didn't know why Parker had a donkey.
"Right... So we'll see the donkey when we go." Hermione spoke slowly.
"I, uh, suppose we will." Harry nodded.
"Right. What time is it?' Hermione clasped her hands together.
"Eh, half twelve, give or take." Erica shrugged.
"Let's start heading." Ron nodded for them to move.
"Right." Harry stood up, holding the door for them.
"Thank you.' Hermione hummed before they left.
**
"Parker come to the door!' Ron banged on it.
"Ron!" Hermione nudged him
"What?" He sighed.
"You don't need to bang on the door, you could break it." Hermione crossed her arms
"It's been five minutes." Ron pointed out.
"She'll answer soon." Erica told him.
That's when the door opened and they saw... Young Matteo.
"Oh, Matteo. Where's your mummy?" Harry bent down.
"Why are you here?"
"To see your mum." Harry answered.
Matteo nodded, turning around in a 360° turn.
"Mum's busy." He closed the door in their faces.
"We're breaking in." Erica pointed.
"Wh- Erica!" Hermione gasped.
Erica already had her wand out.
"Erica." Hermione smacked her arm.
Erica winced and slowly put her wand away,"Watch the burns, 'Mione."
"Sorry." She sighed.
"It's fine."
"Right. Just be careful." Harry nodded.
"I'm always careful." Erica began to walk around the house.
"Sometimes."
"Quiet." Erica called, moving away some leaves and hopping over the fence.
That's when they saw Parker in the barn.
"Parker!" Erica called to her.
Parker turned and quickly ran out, closing the barn doors, "Hey guys."
"Can you believe that they didn't know about your donkey?" Erica asked as the others hopped over as well.
"She never told us." Ron sighed.
"You don't know about Harold?" Parker gasped.
Hermione blinked,"You called him Harold?"
Parker nodded.
"It's a perfect name." Erica stated.
"Thank you, Erica." Parker hummed.
"Lemme see." She walked towards the barn.
"No! No. Wait, why don't... We go get some food?" Parker asked them.
"Why can't I see the donkey?" Erica turned around.
"Harold is sleeping."
Just as she said that, they heard... A belt.
"Sleeping, huh?" Erica raised a brow.
And another belt, followed by another... She didn't have that many donkeys, did she?
"Parker, what's in the barn?" Hermione inquired.
"So... I may have gotten a fee more animals." Parker spoke slowly.
"Bitch, do you have goats?" Erica had her ear against the door.
"Mommy! Duffy bit me!' Trixie ran out the barn, following her was a bunch of goats.
"Jesus- Parker, how many are there?" Ron jumped back in surprise.
"Six." Parker replied as she checked Trixie's finger.
"I love them." Erica bent down.
"They're still getting trained, Harold is teaching them." Trixie spoke as she wiped her tears.
"Erica, don't get too attached." Harry sighed.
"Wanna name one?" Parker smirked to Erica.
"Brian." Erica pointed.
"Brian it is."
"You are both very strange." Ron nodded.
"So these guys were gonna get killed by this other farmer, a bloody mean muggle. So... I stole them." Parker shrugged.
"Of course you did." Hermione sighed,"You can't keep stealing animals, you promised to stop after the cat."
"The cat was abandoned." Parker kissed Trixie's head.
"Let the woman be." Erica stroked Brian,"If she wants to save all the animals, let her."
"This is Dewey." Trixie pointed to the dark coloured goat.
"I see." Harry nodded.
"And then over there is his brother Louie."
"Is the next one Huey?" Ron asked jokingly.
"How did you know? Uncle Ron you are magic!" Trixie laughed.
"In more ways than one, apparently." Hermione chuckled.
"She named them." Parker sighed.
"They're very good names, Trix." Harry told her.
"Thank you." Trixie smiled.
"That's us with four names, what about the other two?" Hermione asked.
"Matteo! What did you name the other goats?" Parker shouted to the treehouse.
"I named one Billy!" He yelled back.
"And the other is Avery." Parker spoke.
"Very beautiful." Hermione nodded.
"I don't steal them, I look out for them." Parker explained.
"By stealing them." Harry added.
"So what?" Parker rolled her eyes.
"It's illegal." He pointed.
"So?" Trixie copied her mother.
Harry sighed,"Your mummy could get in trouble."
"But mummy helps them."
"I know, Trix." Harry gave in.
Trixie smiled and ran after the goats only to find Erica.
"Come hither my children." Erica was leading them around.
"What are you doing?" Trixie tilted her head.
"Having some fun." Erica hummed.
"Can I join?"
"Of course."
Trixie skipped over, "That's Billy, he's Theo's goat."
"He acts like him, he's stubborn." Erica nodded.
Trixie giggled and nodded in agreement.
"Ain't that right, Billy?" Erica turned to him.
Billy belted and ran off.
"The triplets are mine." Trixie told her.
"And Brian is mine."
Trixie smiled and petted the goats, "Will mummy get in trouble?"
"Not if she doesn't get caught." Erica shook her head,"Which she won't."
"Cause she's smart."
"Yeah." Erica nodded, stroking Brian.
"I'm smart."
"Very smart." Erica smiled.
"Matteo says I'm not."
"He's just being rude." Erica patted her head.
"Yeah, rude.' Trixie crossed her arms.
"I was told I wasn't smart when I was little too." Erica sat down.
"Really? But you're like- mega smart."
"Well, nobody else really thought that." Erica sighed.
"That's mean."
"You just have to ignore it." Erica told her.
"I'll try, I wanna be like you as well." Trixie laid back in the grass.
"You'll have to be more careful." Erica reminded her,"You don't wanna look like me."
"I like the way you look, like a warrior." Trixie shrugged and grabbed a few daisies.
"It comes at a price, Trix."
"I know." Trixie hummed.
"Sit with me." Erica patted the ground.
Trixie took her daisies and crawled over to Erica, sitting beside her. Erica smiled and began playing with Trixie's hair.
"That tickles." Trixie giggled.
"Good." Erica hummed.
"My mummy told me a story about you and her with hair."
"Did she?" Erica raised a brow.
"Mhm, with Uncle Dray."
"Ah, now I remember." She smirked.
"She said... You dyed his hair pink." Trixie laughed.
"Of course I did, he needed me to do it." Erica nodded,"Y'know, to make him stop being rude."
"Then he cried like a baby." Trixie bounced slightly.
"And then I helped fix it to make him be quiet." Erica laid back.
"That was nice." Trixie chuckled and laid back with her.
"I know." Erica hummed.
"Trixie? Erica?" Parker looked around for them.
"Over her." Erica answered.
"You stole the goats?" Parker chuckled.
"Not stealing, borrowing." Erica corrected her.
"Ah yes, borrowed."
"Aren't we, Trix?" She turned to her.
"Mhm. We borrowed them like you did." Trixie nodded.
"Goats just like me." Erica shrugged.
"Goat talker." Trixie spoke.
"Goat whisperer." Parker corrected as she lifted Trixie up.
"Close enough." Erica shrugged.
"How was Romania, Erica?" Parker hummed.
"Eh, the usual." Eirca shrugged,"That... Jerk has been bothering me again."
"Still?" Parker sighed.
"Yeah.." She nodded.
"What did he do now?"
"He keeps looking at me and I don't like it." Erica shook her head.
"Bring me to him, I'll bloody teach him."
"Don't say such things in front of the child." Erica pointed.
"I'll teach him too!" Trixie pointed back.
"I'm not letting you near him, Trixie." Erica sighed.
"I'll fight him."
"No."
"Alright, go hop and check Harold. He's probably missed you." Parker let Trixie down and nudged her.
"I'm coming, Harold!' Trixie began running.
Parker turned to Erica, "Has he said anything to you?"
"Not much." Erica got up,"It's like Charlie can sense him."
"Thank Merlin for Charlie." Parker nodded.
"I honestly don't know what I would've done without Charlie."
"I'm glad you get to spend time with him." Parker rubbed her arm.
"I'm bringing over here for a few weeks, mum misses him." Erica told her.
"That will be good." Parker nodded, "Come on, help me get these kids back to the barn."
"Already on it." Erica scooped up two of them.
"Thank you." Parker lifted the other two before she lead the others.
The rest of the herd were watching Trixie and Harold.
"She been okay?" Parker turned to them.
"She hasn't been injured, if that's what you mean." Ron shrugged.
"That works.'
"In that case, she's fine." Hermione nodded.
"And Theo?"
"Is still inside." Harry pointed.
"Not ran away?"
"Nope." Ron shook his head,"He slammed the door on us earlier."
"He did what?' Parker looked at him.
"Slammed the door in our faces." Ron stated.
"Oh for- Sorry." Parker sighed.
"I only took little offence to it." Erica shrugged.
"I took a lot of offence." Ron crossed his arms.
"Nobody asked for your opinion." Erica nudged him.
"I asked for it."
"Be shush."
"No." Ron crossed his arms.
"Oh, we're playing that game?" Erica walked up to him.
"Uh-huh."
"Hands up, let's go." Erica looked him up and down.
That's when Harold, the donkey made a noise and walked towards them.
"He says no fighting." Matteo walked out from behind the hay.
"What if I want to fight, Harold?" Erica asked.
Harold made another noise and turned to her.
"Guess that's us told." She chuckled.
"Well, are you guys staying for dinner?" Parker asked.
"If that's not a bother." Harry answered.
"Not a bother at all. Shift it." Parker hurried them out.
"Okay, we're going." Hermione smiled.
"Now." Trixie pointed, like a commander.
"Yes ma'am." Harry gave her a salute.
Trixie laughed and ran after them, Matteo running after her.
"Ah, children." Erica sighed.
"You're really good with them, especially Trix." Parker nudged her, "...So you and Nev-"
Erica quickly covered Parker's mouth,"Married man, Parker. Married man."
"Sleeping with him." Parker mumbled against her hand.
"Nobody else needs to know that." Erica muttered through her teeth.
"Well, if you can't with Neville." Parker hummed, "Why not adopt?"
"Maybe in the future, I'm doing work stuff now."
"They could be older."
"Obviously."
"You'd be a great mother, Erica." Parker put her arm around her shoulder.
"Thanks." She smiled softly.
"Anytime." Parker smiled back, "Now hurry up, I need to feed you."
"Whatever you say." Erica walked off.
