Chapter 8 - Rogue Bludger
"It's strange, isn't it?" Parker asked while they walked.
"What's strange?" Hermione asked,"The petrification, how we found it first or Snape?"
"How Harry heard a voice, only he can hear and then Mrs Norris turns up petrified?" Parker wondered.
"Maybe the mystery voice did it." Erica suggested, looking out the window as it started to rain.
"I think we should all just go back to our common rooms." Ron sighed, "We can talk about it in the morning."
"That is if the mystery voice doesn't get us." Erica teased, walking down the stairs and thinking aloud,"We did see spiders just before it though..."
"What do you think that means?" Parker asked, the golden trio went upstairs as that's where their common rooms were but Parker and Erica's were downstairs.
"Either the spiders did it or they were like us and just came across it." Erica stated.
"But a trail of them? That's a bit suspicious." Parker crossed her arms.
"Maybe there's a colony of spider's outside the school?" Erica suggested.
"They're planning to take over the school." Parker giggled.
"Don't tell Ron that." Erica stated,"He'll freak out."
"We'll keep it between us." Parker nudged her.
"Well, here's my stop. Bye!" Erica waved running to the Hufflepuff common room.
"Bye Erica!" Parker waved before she walked to her own common room.
**
"Do you think Mrs Norris has been.. Fixed yet?" Parker asked Erica while they walked to class.
"No, the only way to cure someone that's been petrified is to use essence of mandrake and out mandrakes aren't done yet." Erica explained, holding open the classroom door.
"Do you think it'll happen to anyone else?" Parker asked while they walked in, nodding her head and as a thanks.
"Knowing our luck, yes." Erica answered, sitting at her desk beside Ron.
Parker sat next to Hermione that was behind Erica.
Ron and Harry and pushed her chair in, "Have we missed much?"
"Nope." Erica said plainly.
"Attention. Today, we will be transforming animals into water goblets. Like so, one.. two, three. Veraverto." McGonagall did a spell and her bird turned into a goblet.
Erica looked at her brother beside her,"Can you do this?"
"Of course I can." Ron nodded.
"Mr Weasley, on you go. One, two, three. Veraverto." McGonagall walked over to the Weasley siblings.
"Show me how it's done then, Ron." Erica told him, crossing her arms.
"Veraverto." Ron said as he waved his wand.
It only went halfway as the rat he used to demonstrate became goblet shaped but kept it's fur and tail. Parker sniggered and covered her mouth.
"That wand needs replacing, Mr Weasley." McGonagall pointed at him.
Once the laughter calmed down, Parker stuck her hand up.
"Yes, Miss Malfoy?" McGonagall acknowledged her.
"Professor. I was wondering if you could tell us about.. The Chamber of Secrets." Parker asked, hopefully.
"Very well then, as you know, Hogwarts was founded over one thousand years ago by four people. Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Salazar Slytherin. Three founders got along peacefully while one did not." McGonagall began.
"Three guesses on who." Erica jokingly said, leaning back in her chair.
"Salazar Slytherin wished to be more selective about the students admitted to Hogwarts. He believed, magical learning should be kept in all magic families. In other words.. Pure bloods. Unable to sway the others, he decided to leave the school. Now according to legend.. Slytherin had built a hidden chamber in this castle, known as the Chamber of Secrets. Although he sealed it until the time when his own true heir comes to the school." McGonagall explained.
"Has it ever been opened before?" Ron questioned.
"No. It has remained closed since Salazar Slytherin left. The heir will be able to open and control what is said to be a monster." McGonagall sighed.
"Let's hope that doesn't happen." Erica added.
"I heard it killed Myrtle." Parker whispered to Erica.
Erica nodded as McGonagall went back to her lesson.
**
"So.. Salazer was a bit of a prick." Parker sighed while they all walked out of the class.
"Seems so, what's next?" Erica asked Hermione.
"Free period." Hermione shrugged.
"Wait.. If the Chamber has been opened, that means that the heir of Slytherin has returned to Hogwarts. But who is it?" Parker wondered.
"Maybe that's who the mystery voice was! Do you remember what is said to you?" Erica questioned Harry.
"Something to do with.. Kill?" Harry tried to remember.
"Well let's see. Who do we know that thinks all muggleborns are scums?" Ron asked.
"My brother." Parker sighed.
"Of course! You even heard him, 'You'll be next Mudbloods'." Ron explained.
"But are you guys even related to that Salazar guy? Just because his family is all Slytherin and he hates mu... Muggle borns doesn't mean he is a murderous psycho." Erica stated, confident in herself.
"I would tell you if I could. I don't know my family history much, I really only know what my mothers told me about her side of the family." Parker shrugged.
"Crabbe and Goyle might know. Draco tells them everything." Ron nodded, "Maybe we can trick them into telling."
"Cupcakes." Hermione replied.
"What are you o-" Ron began before Hermione stopped him.
"We can bribe them with cupcakes." Hermione finished.
Hermione then thought about her idea before having another revelation.
"..We'll be breaking about 50 school rules just come with me to the library." She told them all while they walked.
"What are we doing?" Erica asked, following close behind.
"I've seen something that can help us out with this. It'll be perfect." Hermione walked into the library. "Sit."
She then walked over to a bookshelf quite far from the table. Erica sat down and immediately started looking around.
"You okay?" Parker asked Erica.
"Huh? Oh, I have a low attention span." Erica told her.
"She struggles to do things like sitting still." Ron explained further.
"Theres a thing for that.. ADHD?" Parker tried to remember.
Erica shrugged,"It doesn't really bother me, I can still get things done."
"Most of the time." Ron added on.
"It's good. You get to see things others might not." Parker shrugged while Hermione came back.
"Here it is. The Polyjuice Potion." Hermione read from the book, "Properly brewed. The Polyjuice Potion allows the drinker to transform themselves temporarily into the physical from of another."
"Not it!" Erica yelled, touching her nose.
"Not it!" Parker copied her and touched her nose.
"Guess its you two then." Hermione looked at the boys.
"Sucks to be you, now we have to figure out a way to remove the real Crabbe and Goyle from the equation." Erica stated, starting to think.
"We're not using fire." Ron warned his sister.
"I never said I would kill them, I mean hide them so you can impersonate them." Erica explained.
"It takes a month to brew, so we can think about it during then. For now, Harry has quidditch, with Draco." Hermione sighed.
"Is there a way to knock him of his broom without getting caught?" Erica questioned.
"No, even if he kinda deserves it, we're not cheating." Harry told her.
"I'll look for a way." Parker whispered to Erica.
"Go on Harry. We'll see you out there." Ron told him.
Erica pulled out a red and gold hat and out it on,"Moral support!"
Parker pointed at the hat, "Yeah no, I'm not wearing that. But I'm rooting for you Harry. Go beat my brothers ass."
**
"I so want Draco to fall off his broom." Parker hummed while she leaned over the bars.
"Does he even know how to play or does he just think he can?" Ron asked from beside her.
"He can play." Parker nodded, "We learned when we were little. I personally wouldn't like to play quidditch, but flying is fun."
"Well this time, there isn't an evil teacher rigging it so everything should be fine." Erica reminded them.
"That's true." Hermione nodded before she looked over at one of the stands, "Why is he here?"
"Who?" Ron asked.
"Lucius." Hermione sighed.
"Because his son is playing and he likes to show his wealth." Erica stated.
"I swear, he forgets I'm his daughter too. It's always Draco this, Draco that." Parker rolled her eyes.
"It's because you don't share his supremacist beliefs." Erica explained.
"That's a big word, where did you learn that?" Ron asked her.
"Percy, he taught me some big words over the summer when he wasn't wr-" Erica bit her lip, stopping herself from spilling his secret.
Parker raised a brow, glancing over at Percy in the prefect section, who was looking at Oliver as he flew. She nodded slowly, understanding slightly.
They then seen a bludger, chasing after Harry. "We don't have a evil teacher rigging it this time. But the bludger is going awol." Parker pointed out.
"It's rogue! Fred, hit it! It's evil!" Erica stood up, yelling at her brother on his broom.
The buldger began going through the stands, before going after Harry and Draco while they chased after the Snitch. Draco ended up playing unfair, pushing Harry away before soon going under the stands, no one can see them.
"What the... Uh, personal foul!" Erica yelled at Draco.
"What are you on about? That isn't a thing in quidditch." Ron told her.
"The buldger could do anything to them." Parker sighed.
They then seen Draco flying up and falling to the floor of the quidditch pitch.
"Is he ok?!" Erica shouted, looking to see if Draco was standing.
Draco flew back onto the pitch and Parker nodded, "Unfortunately yes."
The buldger, then hit Harry's arm. He soon fell to the ground, the buldger still trying to hit him.
"Come on!" Parker ran down the stands,"Finite Incantatem!"
She pointed her wand at the buldger when they got to the bottom and it exploded into pieces.
Erica took one look at Harry's arm,"That's broken."
Everyone sighed as Lockhart ran over with his wand out.
"This appears to be broken." Lockhart stated.
"No worries, Harry. I shall fix it." Lockhart said a spell and picked up Harry's arm. It immediately just flopped to the side as if there was no bone.
"What have you done?" Ron questioned.
"It'll be fine!" Lockhart told him.
"Eh, no. We're taking him to the infirmary." Hagrid picked up Harry.
Erica followed with the group, containing her friends and the Gryffindor quidditch team, still confused that Lockhart could mess this up this badly. After a bit of being in the infirmary, Madame Pomfrey came back to Harry and his friends.
"Quit moaning, Draco. You're fine." Parker told him while Madame Pomfrey poured a drink for Harry.
Harry took the drink before spitting some of it out.
"Relax, I never said it would taste good." Madame Pomfrey stated.
"You all need to let your friend rest. You can see him in the morning." Madame Pomfrey told everyone.
"Well, see you in the morning." Erica said, walking away.
"Night Harry." Parker waved before they all left.
**
The next day, Harry walked into the third floor girls bathroom the others were waiting.
"How's your arm Harry?" Parker asked while he walked in.
"Better." Harry nodded,"Have you heard the news?"
"What news?" Ron asked.
"Colin Creevey, the first year with the camera, they brought him in last night. Petrified." Harry told them.
"Oh, this is interesting." Erica stated, reading a leaflet that blew in after Harry.
"What is it?" Parker moved next to Erica and read the leaflet.
"Professor Lockhart is holding a dueling club at lunch! It'll fun to watch him fail." Erica exclaimed.
"And it'll be fun to be in it." Parker tilted her head, "If we get the chance."
"Can someone answer me this? Why are we brewing a potion in the girls toilets?" Ron asked.
"Nobody ever comes in here." Erica explained,"It's haunted by Myrtle, Moaning Myrtle."
"Who?" Harry asked.
"Myrtle." Parker pointed at the ghost behind Ron with a small shrug.
"Who's Moaning Myrtle?" Ron asked.
"I'm Moaning Myrtle!" Myrtle shouted in Rons face.
"Bloody hell!" Ron yelled, falling backwards.
"I wouldn't expect you to know me! Who would ever talk about ugly, miserable, Moaning Myrtle?" Myrtle squealed before she flew past them and down into the toilet.
"Well, now she's upset with you." Erica stated.
"Let's get back to work, shall we?" Hermione asked, pouring something into the potion.
"She's a little sensitive as well." Parker added.
**
"I didn't relaise how many people would actually come to this." Ron said in shock.
"It's because it's fun Ron!" Erica explained, pushing up her glasses.
"Or because half the girls here are in love with him." Parker shrugged while Lockhart threw his cape into the crowd.
Erica dodged the cape, not wanting it to touch her as some girls crowded to get it. Snape walked across the long table, as did Lockhart.
"Snape looks so sassy here." Parker giggled quietly when Snape walked up.
"It's because he hates Lockhart, he spoke about it in potions." Erica whispered back.
"Now Snape, let us duel!" Lockhart announced, taking out his wand,"Do not worry, I won't harm your dear potions master."
Snape shook his head and rolled his eyes as he took out his wand.
"One.. Two.. Three." Lockhart counted.
"Expelliarmus!" Snape yelled and cast the spell, throwing Lockhart back.
Erica and a few others clapped as Lockhart fell to the ground before putting her hands behind her back when Lockhart got up, walking back to the centre.
"Good one, Professor Snape but I think it was pretty obvious what you were trying to do. If i-" Lockhart began but Snape cut him off.
"Wouldn't it be wise to show the students how to block unfriendly spells?" Snape asked, giving a little shrug.
"..An excellent suggestion! Potter, Mr Weasley, up you come." Lockhart nodded for them to get up.
"No, Weasley's wand will mess up the most basic spell and most likely harm Potter. What about one of my students, Mr Malfoy perhaps?" Snape informed him.
"He's right though." Erica whispered to Ron.
Draco quickly got up and already had his wand out.
"This could either end great, or terrible. Harry better beat his ass." Parker muttered.
"I couldn't care less, it'll be funny whoever wins." Erica replied, crossing her arms.
"True." Parker shrugged.
The two got into position. Draco used a spell before the countdown had ended, causing Harry to fly to the end of the walkway, "Everte Statum!"
Harry sat up and pointed his wand at Draco,"Rictusempra!"
This caused Draco to fall back due to the effect of this charm, the tickling charm. Snape grabbed Draco, pulling him up and pushing him forward.
Just by the look on Dracos face, she knew the spell. "No, no, no. Dr-"
"Serpensortia!" Draco used the spell and a snake came flying out of his wand.
"Hey look, a snake." Erica pointed out before realising it,"Wait, snake?"
"Don't worry, I'll get rid of it." Lockhart threw it up in the air.
"That did nothing." Ron sighed, putting his head in his hands.
The snake then slithered forward towards Justin Finch-Fletchley. Harry moved forward to the snake, speaking in a hushed whisper.
"Since when can he speak Parselmouth?" Parker asked.
"I think it's cool, I have no clue what he's saying but it looks like it's working." Erica told them as the snake turned away from Justin.
"It looks like he's controlling it. They might accuse him of that." Hermione sighed.
"Vipera Evanasca!" Snape pointed his wand at the snake, causing it to disappear in a small fire.
"There's a spell just for making snakes disappear?" Erica questioned, ignoring most of the situation.
"Theres a spell for everything." Parker nodded.
"What are you playing at?" Justin asked Harry.
"I just told that snake to leave you alone, what do you mean?" Harry wondered, putting his wand away.
"Harry. Come on, we need to go." Ron began to move to the doors, everyone was glaring at Harry.
Harry jumped off the table while Lockhart started giving a speech that they couldn't care less about. The quintet ran off into the corridors.
"Since when were you a Parslemouth?" Ron asked Harry.
"I found out last year when I went to the zoo with my family, I spoke to the boa constrictor and trapped my cousin in the enclosure." Harry admitted.
After a few minutes of walking and talking Erica turned her head and grabbed Ron's shoulder.
"Ow, what is it?" Ron asked his sister.
Erica pointed down the corridor to their right. Nearly-Headless Nick was floating unresponsive just in front of the petrified body of Justin Finch-Fletchley.
"Oh no.." Ron muttered while the others looked.
"Why must we always be in the wrong place?" Parker groaned.
Erica walked over to Justin and knelt down,"You could be annoying at times but you are a fellow Hufflepuff so... I'm sorry?"
"How can Nearly-Headless Nick he petrified?" Parker asked.
"Well, they might've been trying to kill Justin but Nick got in the way and as we all know, ghosts can't die." Hermione explained.
Before anyone else could reply, they heard Filch.
"You did this again? I'll have you all done for this. Mark my words." Filch warned them before he walked off.
Parker looked to the window, "Ron, cover your eyes."
Erica covered Ron's eyes for him,"Code S!"
"Everytime someone gets petrified.. These come along." Parker tilted her head.
"Are they gone?" Ron asked her, a little scared.
"Now they are." Hermione nodded.
Erica removed her hands and looked behind her,"We're going to be in trouble~"
"Professor, it wasn't us." Harry looked up at McGonagall.
"Whether it was you or not you need to head to the headmaster's office." McGonagall told them.
"Fine." They all sighed before they followed McGonagall to Dumbledores office.
"Sherbet lemon." McGonagall stated, causing the statue in front of them to sink down and reveal a spiral staircase.
Harry was first to get on, then Erica and Parker then Hermione and Ron.
"This is a very tall staircase." Hermione pointed out.
"Nevermind tall, it's making me dizzy." Parker closed her eyes.
"Look! A door!" Erica pointed at it.
"That must be the door to Dumbledores room." Harry nodded before he opened it.
