Chapter 5 - The Philosopher's Stone

"How did you even get in here? How did you find out the password?" Parker asked while she got up.

"Magicians never reveal their secrets~" Erica reminded her.

"Oh c'mon, I'm your best friend." Parker poked Erica's arm while she put on her jumper.

"You already know the password, why should I tell you another way in?" Erica asked, crossing her arms.

"I'm a very sneaky person. I know about the tunnels here and I want to find them."

"Nope, I swore that I wouldn't. Wesley's Honour." Erica stated, taking out her wand.

"Do I have to get on my knees and beg?" Parker raised a brow.

"Whatever you do, I'm not telling. I'm not like Snaco." Erica joked,"Come on, it's time to stop Snape."

"I'll find out one day." Parker fixed her hair before her and Erica snuck out of the Slytherin common room.

Both of them ran up the stairs and all the way to Gryffindor tower.

The Golden Trio had just ran out, running into the girls.

"I have my cloak." Harry held it up.

"Good for you, now Fluffy?" Erica questioned.

"Fluffy." They all nodded before they went to the 3rd floor.

"Y'know, I never thought I'd ever really be scared of a dog." Erica stated, pushing open  the door.

A harp was already playing music causing Fluffy to sleep. Snape was already here.

"We have to hurry." Ron said.

"Agreed." Harry stated holding the trapdoor open.

They all looked down into the trapdoor.

"I've seen this before." Parker tilted her head.

Erica looked at Ron then back at the trapdoor and then back at Ron smirking.

"Why is she smirking?" Harry asked.

"No Erica, you cannot push your brother down the trapdoor!" Hermione reprimanded the girl.

"Darn it!" Erica sighed.

"Uh.. Guys?" Parker asked, looking up.

Ron's eyes widened,"The music's stopped which can only mean one thing..."

Everyone looked up and saw Fluffy looking down at them, growling.

"Jump!" Hermione yelled before she jumped down.

"I believe I can fly!" Erica yelled, jumping down after her.

The boys and Parker jumped next.

"What is this?!" Harry turned, trying to get out of the Devils Snare.

"You just need to relax." Erica explained, she paid attention to Professor Sprout.

"It's Devil Snare." Hermione said while she slowly moved down.

"If you relax, you'll get out of it quicker." Parker added. Clearly the girls listened.

Ron continued struggling as the girls slid through.

"Guys!" Harry yelled, looking down.

"We're fine!" Parker called up. "Just stay still and don't panic!"

Harry slid down with them, leaving a panicked Ron up there.

"Ron! Please, try to relax. Everything is ok." Erica yelled up, trying to calm her brother.

"I'm going to die! Oh Merlin! Erica, I want to let you know that it was me who ate your cake when you were 8!" Ron panicked.

Erica was speechless.

She then took a breath before yelling, "You asshole! If we're admitting secrets, I'm the one that stole your broom pen set six years ago and I still have them in my pocket! If you want them, come get them!

"I can't! I'm going to die! Oh god!" Ron began struggling again.

"Lumos!" Hermione yelled, pointing her wand up at the plant, causing it to retract a bit.

"Do it together?" Parker asked, gesturing to the girls and Harry since the plant didn't move that much.

The rest of them nodded, all of them pointing their wands at the plant and yelling,"Lumos!"

Soon enough, Ron fell through and to the ground. He groaned and looked up to see a pissed off Erica staring down at him.

"Good thing we were all here Ronald. I wouldn't want to write to mum saying how you couldn't chill. Besides, we're too broke to afford your funeral." Erica joked, pulling Ron off the floor,"But if you eat my food again, especially my cake, I will not hesitate!"

"I won't be eating anything after that." Ron muttered,  glancing at the Devils Snare.

Erica smiled and handed him the pencil case that contained his broom pens,"I even got you a Chudley Cannons pen."

Ron eagerly took the pencil case and put it in his pocket, "Let's go."

The group continued forwards into a room with what appeared to be birds flying about near the roof, a broom in the middle and a locked door.

Ron and Hermione went and tried to open the locked door but they failed.

"We need to find the key." Harry sighed.

"That one, with the broken wing!" Parker pointed to the larger key floating about.

Erica squinted her eyes,"Parker's right, those aren't birds. Harry, your turn."

"Me?" Harry snapped his head towards Erica.

"You're the only one who can fly a broomstick." Erica stated.

"I can f-" Ron began before getting cut off.

"I meant fly well, without crashing into the wall." Erica added on.

"Plus, Harry. You're the youngest Seeker in a century. If anyone can do this, it's you." Parker added.

Harry hesitated before he got on the broomstick. The keys all flying down and attacking him.

"You've got this!" Erica told him supportively.

"I've got it!" Harry yelled and threw down the key to them.

The key smacked against Erica's face and landed in her hands.

"You need to work on your aim." Erica pointed out, walking towards the door.

"Maybe he's best at Seeker and only Seeker." Parker joked.

"Hurry!" Harry yelled while he flew aboutm

"Harry, this is why you aren't a Hufflepuff. You have no patience." Erica stated, unlocking the door,"Tada!"

"They're violent keys Erica." Ron reminded her while they ran in the door, the four of them running in and Harry following after.

They could hear the keys stabbing the door behind them. The next room they entered was a giant chessboard complete with chess pieces with a few missing.

"It's a.. Chessboard?" Parker thought aloud while they walked in.

"And there's the door." Harry pointed at the door.

They went to walk to it, only to be stopped by the chess pieces moving and put swords up to stop them.

"Oh God, we need to play chess." Erica sighed before turning to her brother,"Ron, you're in charge."

"Alright. Harry and Erica, you take the empty bishop's square. Hermione and Parker, you'll be the queen side castle. As for me? I'll be the Knight." Ron crossed his arms, proud of himself.

"I have no clue what that means but I guess we have to." Erica joked pulling Harry onto the square with her.

"What happens now?" Hermione asked once they were all on their squares.

"Well, white moves first. Then.. We'll play." Ron said, rather dramatically.

"And he says I'm the dramatic one." Erica said to the side, watching her brother mount the chess horse.

The white side then moved forward it's pawn, one square.

"Ron, you don't suppose this is going to be like.. Real wizard chess?" Parker asked, knowing what happens in wizard chess.

"Well, lifesize chess board and pieces, sentient chess pieces. I reckon it's going to be exactly like it." Harry stated, looking nervously at the large chess pieces.

"You there, D5!" Ron pointed at a chess piece before it moved to D5.

"Who do you think made this?" Erica whispered to Harry.

"I have no idea." Harry shook his head, "It seems to look centuries old."

The chess game continued going back and forth, multiple pieces being destroyed until Ron saw his opportunity.

"You have to understand guys, once I make my move.. The Queen will take me. Then Harry and Erica are free to check the King." Ron explained.

"We shall do what must be done." Erica stated, pushing her glasses up her nose

"You're willing to sacrifice your brother?" Harry looked at Erica.

"No but I know he'll be ok. I-it would be a funny tombstone.." Erica joked, her head down.

Erica could hear Parker giggle quietly before she covered it up when Hermione nudged her.

"..Knight to H3." Ron closed his eyes while his piece moved

The queen moved forward, cutting down Ron's piece and he fell to the ground, leaving a space open near the King.

"Come on, let's go!" Erica grabbed onto Harry and ran up to the King,"Checkmate!"

The sword that the King was holding soon fell down, just missing the two of them.

"That's the game ended." Hermione quickly told them before she ran over to Ron.

"Ron, are you dead?!" Erica questioned, running over to him.

"I think he's dead." Parker poked him.

"Well, shit!" Erica shouted,"How am I supposed to explain this? Hey mum, sorry about this but Ron is dead. He was killed by a giant freaking chess piece!"

Parker checked his pulse, "Nope, not dead. Just knocked out."

"You need to get to the owlery and get Dumbledore. I need to go on alone." Harry stood up.

"How're we going to get up though?" Hermione asked,"Besides, there's still another challenge because I can smell it."

Parker looked ahead,"It's potions."

"Snape." They all said at the same time.

"Wait, these were all set up by the teachers!" Erica realised,"Snape's might actually kill us though. You never know."

"Lets just hope not." Harry sighed.

"Look, a plaque!" Erica pointed out, walking into the other room,"It says,'Danger lies before you, while safety lies behind. Two of us would help you, whichever you would find. One among us seven will let you move ahead, another will transport the drink back instead. Two among our number hold only nettle wine. Three of us are killers, waiting hidden in line. Choose, unless you wish to stay here for evermore."

Hermione had stayed with Ron while Parker, Erica and Harry went to the next room.

"So.. Basically, drink the right potion or we die?" Harry asked.

"Seems like it, seems like Snape." Parker remarked.

Erica looked up again and started to read,"To help you in your choice, we give you these clues four. Firstly, however slyly the poison tries to hide there will always be some nettle wine on the left side. Secondly, different are those who stand on either end but if you move onward, neither is your friend. Third, as you see clearly, are all different sized, neither giant nor dwarf holds death inside. Fourth, the second left and second on the right are twins once you taste them though different at sight."

"That makes no sense.." Harry shook his head.

"It actually does, just read it and look at the potions. It's rather helpful." Parker told him while she looked at the potions.

"Well I'm not good at riddles." Erica told them.

Parker grazed her fingers over the bottles before lifting the second and sixth bottle.

"These two are the nettle wine." She said, putting them to the side.

"That leaves three poisons, right?" Erica double checked.

Parker nodded before turning back to the potions.

"Now, to the left of those bottles are.. first and the fifth bottle." She lifted them up, "Two poisons."

"So, one poison, one that takes us back and one that takes us forward." Harry stated, more sure of his answer.

"Indeed it does." Parker nodded. "The 7th bottle takes us back. So thats a no."

Erica pushed the 7th one over to the nettle wine bottles.

"We have the third and fourth bottle left." Parker moved them next to each other. "Dwarf isn't a poison, right? That's what it said?"

"Yep, the short one is safe." Erica said, looking at the colourful potions.

"So we move ahead." Harry stated.

"Leaving this one as the third poison." Parker held the bottle.

Erica grabbed the potion from Parker and chucked it through at the chess board.

"Erica!" Harry shouted.

"That chessboard deserved it." Erica shrugged nonchalantly,"Now, time to stop Snape!"

"I think you two should stay here and keep watch incase anyone comes down here." Harry told the girls.

"I mean, we have poison. Does it need to be ingested?" Erica began muttering to herself.

Parker gently slapped Erica's arm, "Bad."

Erica took out her wand,"Are we staying or not?"

"Staying." Parker replied. "Shout us if you need us Harry."

Harry nodded before taking the potion and running to the last room.

Parker took out her wand and sat on the table, "This has been.. Fun."

"Adrenaline does that, it makes risks more fun." Erica stated before picking up a potion.

"Please don't ingest any of these." Parker looked at her friend.

"I wasn't going to I was just... Thinking." Erica said, sitting it down.

Parker slowly took the poisons and moved them to the side. "God, I'm going to miss you guys during the summer."

"It's only a few months but... If Snape took so much effort in doing this, why would he throw it all away? It seems strange saying this but he looks almost... Happy here if you get him on a good day." Erica questioned.

"Hogwarts is everyone's second home." Parker shrugged.

"It doesn't make sense. Sure, we saw him doing shady stuff but... What if it isn't him?" Erica asked, trying to remember if she saw anything else.

"..At the Quidditch match. We saw Snape muttering a hex but I also noticed.. Professor Quirrel muttering something as well. Harry only stopped spazzing out when Quirrel fell off of his seat." Parker remembered.

"It's Quirrel! He's a wolf in sheep's clothing! Every time Harry goes near him, he flinches and holds the back of his turban!" Erica yelled, the pieces falling into place.

"I knew he was suspicious!" Parker jumped off of the table.

Parker ran over and tried to open the door but it was locked. She then tried Alohamora, but that didn't work either.

"We need the potion, did Harry finish it?" Erica reminded her.

"I.. I don't know." Parker shook her head.

Erica picked up the glass Harry dropped that surprisingly didn't break, there was still a bit left.

"Will this be enough?" Erica wondered.

"We can always try it." Parker stood to the side

"You first." Erica said, handing Parker the glass.

"You picked it up first!" Parker crossed her arms, "I'm not dying."

"Welp, you only live once." Erica sipped the potion and gave it to Parker,"See?"

"If you start choking, I swear to god." Parker pointed at her while she took a sip of the potion.

Erica ran straight into the door, pushing it open.

"We're here to save you!" Erica yelled, falling to the ground.

When they ran in, they saw Quirrel becoming ash and falling to the ground.

Erica let out a high pitched scream before snapping back,"Can we get sentenced for this?"

"Harry killed him, not us." Parker pointed to Quirrel. "Speaking of.. Where is Harry?"

Erica pointed forward as the spirit that left Quirrel's ashes shot forward, pushing Harry to the ground before disappearing.

"Harry!" Parker ran towards him, crouching down to check his pulse before groaning, "Why are all the boys just knocked out?"

"Because they're weak." Erica answered, walking over and picking up the stone that Harry dropped,"Woah, look!"

"Is that the Philosopher's stone?" Parker tilted her head.

"Must be." Erica stated before looking up,"The mirror!"

"Hm?" Parker looked up.

That's when she saw the Mirror of Erised standing in the middle of the room.

"Maybe that's where it was hidden." Erica suggested.

"We had been with it the full time?" Parker asked, walking over to the mirror.

"Yeah, I think it's time to go back now." Erica told her, putting Harry on her back.

"We need to take him to the infirmary." Parker pointed out.

"Really?" Erica asked sarcastically,"I thought we should take him to the Black Lake."

"I mean, the merm-" Parker began, "You're joking.."

"No shit!" Erica shouted,"Sorry, this happens when I'm stressed."

"It's okay." Parker nodded, "Come on."

**

Erica sat poking Harry of his hospital bed.

"I don't think that's going to wake him up anytime soon." Parker stated, crossing her arms.

"It will, trust me." Erica giggled, still poking him.

"You've been at it for 3 hours." Parker pointed out.

"That's the thing, Hufflepuff's are patient. Besides, who's been watching me do it for three hours?" Erica stated.

"All of us, you knob." Ron pointed out.

"I don't think Madame Pomfrey would take it kind that you've been poking a patient for three hours." Hermione added.

"He's fine." Erica pointed out,"He just murdered his teacher, no mental scarring there.

"Have any of you guys seen Dumbledore yet?" Parker asked, she hadn't seen him.

"Not me, have you?" Dumbledore asked, holding a box of Bertie Botts.

"Hello Professor." They all greeted him.

Harry woke up,"Stop poking me."

"See? He woke up." Erica said, looking down at Harry.

"Eventually." Ron muttered.

"Ron, do you want to have to replace your sheets?" Erica asked grimly.

Ron crossed his arms and glared at Erica.

"You all were incredibly foolish going and doing what you did. But also incredibly brave." Dumbledore spoke.

"It was quite fun, having an adventure." Hermione admitted.

"What happened to the stone?" Harry asked Dumbledore.

Erica mimicked various actions of destruction, including sound effects.

"That." Parker pointed at Erica.

"It got destroyed. Thank you Miss Weasley." Dumbledore nodded.

"What did you do?" Ron questioned, not sure if he wanted to know.

"Don't you worry about it Mr Weasley." Dumbledore told him. "We won't be seeing it again soon."

Ron shot confused glances at the innocent looking Erica, wondering what she did.

"I would usually, be taking away points. But..  You all did a heroic thing. So.. 50 points to each house." Dumbledore smiled, well.. They swear they saw him smile.

Erica began trying to calculate numbers in her head.

"Just don't." Ron told her,"We'll figure it out later."

"It's the last day, children. Go have fun. I'll see you all later in the Great Hall." Dumbledore told them while he stood up, taking a Bertie Bott bean, "Alas, earwax."

"You heard the man, it's fun time!" Erica yelled.

"We'll let you have time to get dressed, Harry." Parker nodded.

Erica let of another party popper in Ron's ear before running.

"Erica!" Ron groaned while Parker ran after Erica.
