Chapter 49 - Sneaking into Gringotts
They slowly approached Gringotts. Diagon Alley was cold and empty. It was mostly abandoned.
"I've gotten six looks from people already." Parker told the others.
"Because you're one of the most feared Death Eaters, remember?" Erica reminded her.
"Shit, right." Parker nodded when she realised, "Are you all ready?"
"Ready as we'll ever be." Ron sighed as he pushed open the door.
Parker and the others walked forward, stopping infront of the goblin that would give her the key.
She coughed to get his attention but he didn't look, she crossed her arms before speaking, "I wish to enter my vault."
Still not looking up from his work, he asked,"Identification?"
"Are you really asking me that? It's hardly nesassary." Parker scoffed.
That's when he looked up and started to leave his seat,"Madame Lestrange."
"I don't like to be kept waiting." Parker rolled her eyes.
"They know she's an imposter, they've been warned." Griphook muttered under the cloak.
This caused Erica and Ron to look at each other. Then they heard a security guard walking, the sound of his shoes.
"Erica? What do we do?" Ron asked her quietly.
Erica thought for a second before slowly sliding her wand out her sleeve,"I have an idea."
That's when the goblin came back, bringing another goblin, "Madame Lestrange. Would you mind presenting your wand?"
"Why must I do that?" Parker asked.
"Well it's our bank policy, especially with all the stuff going around." The goblin answered.
"Imperio." Erica muttered.
"Well I don't believe I should show my wand." Parker told him.
The goblin blinked a few times, "Very well Madame Lestrange, if you'd follow me."
Soon enough, they were on the speedy cart down to the vault. They had passed some water, but didn't touch it. Water wasn't supposed to be near the tracks.
"Griphook, what is that?" Harry asked him.
Griphook didn't answer as they continued down the tracks.
"Griphook!" Parker at him but they drove through water.
The cart slowly stopped before they were all knocked off the cart.
"Arresto Momentum!" Hermione shouted before they hit the ground.
Instead, they just hovered for a second before it dropped them.
"Wasn't this a fun experience." Erica muttered, lying flat on the ground.
"You look like yourselves again." Harry told Erica, Ron and Parker.
Erica and Ron just looked like themselves, their disguises had washed away. Parker's hair had just went back to being wavey since the water got rid of the curls.
"You look better without a beard." Erica shook her head.
"I think so myself." Ron nodded.
That's when the goblin who was originally cursed, turned back to normal, "What are you all doing down here? Theives! I mi-"
"Imperio." Erica cursed him again, standing up.
The goblin went back to his smiling daze.
But then they all heard something they least expected, a roar.
"That didn't sound good." Parker looked around.
They all slowly approached the sound and saw an albino dragon that was chained up in a large hall.
"Bloody hell, that's a Ukrainian Ironbelly." Erica told them, looking at the dragon.
Griphook handed Ron something before he began shaking his own object, filling the room with noise to get the dragon to back down.
"It's trained to expect pain when it hears the noise." Griphook informed them.
"That's barbaric." Parker shook her head.
They all traversed the room, the dragon backed into a corner. Erica shook her head the entire time, clearly not happy about the situation.
"I would gladly like the dragon to set Griphook on fire." Parker muttered to Erica.
Griphook then placed the other Goblin's hand on the door, causing it to open. That's when they all walked in. The door then locked once everyone was inside, leaving the room in complete darkness.
"Lumos." Everyone lit up their wands.
They all began looking around carefully. The room was neatly puled up high with galleons and other golden objects.
"Blimey." Ron looked at the galleons.
"Accio Horcrux." Hermione tried.
"Really?" Ron tilted his head.
"That sort of magic won't work in here." Griphook stated.
"Is it in here Harry? Do you feel it?" Parker asked him.
Harry scanned the room as Hermione brushed against something, causing it to start multiplying.
"That's it! Up there." Harry nodded, "Give me the sword."
He turned to Hermione while everything began to multiply quickly.
"Uh, we might have a problem." Erica told him as something multiplied, hitting her hand,"Ow, that hurt."
Harry then began to climb up to get the cup, the horcrux.
"Stop moving." Parker stopped moving herself.
Hermione chucked the sword to Harry as he continued to climb. Everyone had stopped moving and the golden objects were now pretty high up. The others couldn't see Harry, the objects had practically devoured him. That's when he ran out of the objects, falling down the hill with the cup in his hands.
"Got it!" He yelled before he fell face first into the objects and ended up dropping the cup.
Griphook picked it up, turning it in his hands.
"We had a deal Griphook." Harry reminded him.
"The cup for the sword." Griphook stated.
Harry then passed the sword to Griphook who took it and tossed the cup at Hermione, who luckily caught it.
"I said I'd get you in. I never said anything about getting you out." Griphook smirked, taking the goblins hand and putting it on the door.
Griphook left with the other goblin as the others struggled for a few minutes, eventually running out of the door.
"Griphook!" Harry yelled after him as the ran over to a metal fence.
That's when they saw the goblin that they cursed, standing in front of the dragon. It soon breathed fire and burned him alive.
Parker winced, "That's unfortunate."
That's when other goblins began slinging spells at them, causing them to hide behind the wall.
"We can't just stand here!" Parker told the others.
"I have an idea." Erica told them, pulling her sleeves up,"Cover me."
Then she started running, spells being fired at her from below. Parker and Hermione then started firing some spells to the goblins and guards, covering Erica. Erica then jumped the fence and landed on the dragon's back as it breathed fire, causing the other goblins to hide.
"Well, come on!" Erica called to her friends.
The four of them looked at each other before jumping on the dragon, holding into it's spikes. Erica broke the chain connecting the dragon to the floor. Then it looked up, knocked over the oncoming cart and burst through the floor above them. All the goblins and guards that were in the main part of the building ran out while the dragon climbed out through the roof. Once outside, the dragon crawled across the roof and started flying. Not very well, mind you, but flying none the less.
"That's a good boy." Erica lightly patted the dragon.
"This could be his first time out in decades." Parker smiled, "I'm kinda glad you had this idea."
Erica smiled, she'd always wanted to ride a dragon but Charlie always told her they were too dangerous whenever she went to visit him. She used to watch him training with them in Romania though and would always listen whenever he talked about them.
After a while of flying, Harry realised something, "We're dropping!"
"Yeah, I recommend we jump." Erica told them.
"When?" Hermione asked her.
"Now." Erica stated, jumping off the dragon.
The remaining four on the dragon jumped down and into the water. They all swam to land before Harry turned to them.
"He knows. You know who. He knows that we broke into Gringotts, he knows what we took and he knows we're hunting Horcruxes." Harry stated.
"How d-" Erica began before she was cut off.
"I saw it." He told them.
"You let him in?" Parker asked.
"Harry, you can't do that." Hermione stated, following him.
"Well guys, I can't always help it. Well, maybe I can, I don't know." Harry reminded them.
"Never mind what happened." Ron sighed.
"Well, he's angry and scared too. He knows if we find and destroy all the horcruxes, we'll be able to kill him. We need to find the rest, but there's more. There's one at Hogwarts." Harry began changing as Hermione gave everyone new clothes.
"What? You saw it?" Hermione questioned.
"I saw the castle and Rowena Ravenclaw. It must have something to do with her, we have to go there now." Harry told her.
"We can't. We have to plan and figure it out." Hermione stated.
"Hermione, when have any of our plans actually worked?" Erica asked, pulling a beige jumper on,"We plan, we get there and all Hell breaks loose."
"She's right but there's one problem, Snape's headmaster now. We can't just walk though the front door." Parker sighed.
"What about the secret passages. We can take the one in Honeydukes." Erica told them,"I know them better than anyone."
They all nodded in agreement.
"There's something wrong with him. Like in the past, I've always been able to follow his thoughts. And now everything just feels disconnected." Harry told them as he put his glasses on.
"Maybe it's the Horcruxes, maybe he's dying." Ron suggested.
"No, no. It's more like he's wounded. If anything, he feels more dangerous." Harry shook his head.
That's when an owl flew over their heads and dropped a letter, Parker catching it.
"What is it? What is it?" Erica asked her.
Parker opened the letter and read out, "Draco. They're all at Gringotts. Voldemorts killed everyone, talking to Nagini. But the sword, it was in Griphooks hand before it disappeared."
"Guess he wasn't worthy, was he?" Erica tried to make light of the situation.
They all looked at Erica and laughed slightly. Parker took out her wand and wrote something back, giving it to the owl before it flew off.
"Why are you telling him?" Harry asked.
"Because he's my brother. We don't want either of us getting hurt." Parker replied.
"Right. Let's go." Hermione held out her hand.
They all joined hands and apparated, landing in Hogsmeade which was a total ghost town. Then an alarm started going off and dementors began approaching. Not to mention the Death Eaters following them.
"Come on." Parker quickly ran up some stairs with the others and hid.
The dementors got closer until Harry used his patronus to get them away. Hermione grabbed Harry once the dementors were away before they ran a bit more, only to be stopped by a locked gate. They thought they were goners until a door opened and someone pulled them inside. The person hurried them down the stairs, closing the door behind them all.
Erica then gasped,"Snack buddy, you saved us!"
"Snack buddy?" Parker asked.
"Well, they started locking the Hogwarts kitchens at night because food kept going missing so I came here for snacks instead." Erica explained, sitting on a barrel.
"You're all bloody fools." Aberforth stated, "You have no idea how dangerous it is."
"It's not our fault everyone wants to kill us." Erica told him.
"You're Aberforth, Dumbledore's brother. It's you who I've been seeing in here. You're the one who sent Dobby." Harry pointed at Aberforth.
"That is correct. I haven't been hearing from him though, is he alright?" Aberforth asked them.
"He didn't make it." Parker answered.
"Shame that, I'll get you something to drink." Aberforth told them.
"Who gave you that? The mirror." Harry asked.
"A man named Mundungus sold it to me." Aberforth informed him, returning with a tray of drinks.
"Dung had no right selling that to you, it belonged to-" Parker began.
"Sirius Black, I am aware." Aberforth cut her off,"Pretty sure Mundungus is dead anyway."
Everyone took a drink off of the tray, they hadn't had anything in a while. Since they left the cottage, actually.
"Do you hear much from the others at the Order?" Hermione asked.
"It all depends, sometimes I do but sometimes I don't." Aberforth shrugged, taking a glass for himself.
"We need to get into Hogwarts, tonight." Harry stated.
Honeydukes was quite a while away from where they were in Hogsmeade.
Erica began looking at a portrait of a young girl,"Who is that Aberforth?"
Aberforth sighed, looking at the portrait, "That was my sister."
He nodded to the portrait before she walked off.
"Was?" Erica tilted her head,"You don't have to but would you mind sharing?"
It took Aberforth a few seconds before he explained, "At the age of six, Ariana was attacked by Muggle boys who saw her practising underage magic. Ever since that day, her magical abilities were uncontrollable. When she was fourteen, she died when she was accidentally struck by a curse in a duel."
"I'm sorry for bringing it up." Erica apologized, looking at him sadly.
Aberforth shook his head, "No worries. It was a long time ago."
He nodded to them before he left the room. That's when they saw Ariana coming back, with someone behind her.
"Who's that?" Ron asked, squinting at the portrait.
The portrait soon opened and out came.. Neville!
"Neville, don't you look-" Harry began.
"Like hell, I reckon." Neville joked, "This is nothing, Seamus is worse."
"You're alive!" Erica yelled, running over and hugging him.
Neville chuckled, hugging Erica, "All of us are. Don't worry."
"So will this passage take us to Hogwarts?" Hermione asked him.
"Yeah. We better hurry." Neville nodded, letting go of Erica and stepping back so everyone could get in the passage.
They traveled through the passage and could see Gryffindor common room through the peep hole.
"I'm going to make and entrance." Erica told them before bursting through teh portrait,"Boo!"
Everyone who was in the room, turned and looked at them all, they began cheering and clapping.
"They're back!"
Erica was stood frozen as the others walked through,"Y'know I wasn't expecting this."
"Neither was I." Parker shook her head while they climbed down a ladder.
"So, what's the plan?" Neville asked.
"Ok, there's something we need to find. Something we need to find hidden in the castle and it may help us defeat You-Know-Who." Harry explained.
"Right, what is it?" Neville tilted his head.
"We don't know." Harry admitted.
"Where is it?" Dean asked.
"We don't know where it is either." Parker added.
"Aren't we so helpful?" Erica sighed, crossing her arms.
"We think it has something to do with Ravenclaw." Harry rubbed his chin, "It'll be uh, small, easily concealed. Anyone have any ideas?"
Everyone looked around before Luna spoke up,"Well, there's Rowena Ravenclaw's lost diadem."
"Oh bloody hell, here we go." Ron muttered.
Erica nudged her brother and gave him a look.
"Lost diadem of Ravenclaw? Hasn't anyone heard of it?" Luna asked them all.
"Yes, but Luna, it's lost. For centuries now. There isn't a person alive today that's seen it." Cho sighed.
"Excuse me, can someone tell me what a bloody diadem is?" Ron questioned.
"It's like a crown thingie." Erica told him.
"Like a tiara." Parker added.
That's when Ginny ran in and smiled, "Harry."
"Hi Ginny." Erica waved but she paid little attention to her,"Six months she hasn't seen me and it's like I'm a total stranger."
"We're like Frankie the first year." Ron added.
"She has loads of family though. There's only one Harry." Seamus joked.
"Shut up, Seamus. Don't forget who got you and Dean together." Erica reminded him, looking at the pair.
Seamus and Dean looked at each other with a small chuckle.
"What is it Ginny?" Neville asked.
"Snape knows. He knows that Harry was spotted in Hogsmeade." Ginny sighed.
"That's never a good thing." Hermione shook her head.
"He wants us all in the Great Hall." Ginny added.
"Better think of a plan quickly." Cho stated.
"I work well under pressure." Erica shrugged as they all began walking to the Great Hall.
