Chapter 21 - Dragons
A few weeks had passed since the announcement and almost everyone was against Harry. Including Ron.
"Got any closer to finding out the truth?" Parker asked while she and Erica walked.
"Nah but that Karkaroff guy seems a bit fishy." Erica told her as they saw Harry and Ron accidentally come face to face.
"Oh shit." Parker muttered when she seen the two talk to each other.
"And three... Two... One..." Erica counted down as Ron stormed off, leaving Harry alone.
Thats when they heard Draco shout Harry.
"Could this get any worse?" Parker groaned.
"Probably." Erica told her, turning to look at Draco on the tree.
Draco jumped down from the tree, "My father and I have a bet you see. I don't think you're going to last ten minutes in this. He disagrees."
"He doesn't think he'll last five." Parker and Draco spoke at the same time, athough Parker was telling Erica and Draco was telling Harry.
That's what caused Harry and Draco to notice the girls.
"How long have you been standing there?" Harry asked them.
"Well, since you and Ron had another disagreement." Erica answered.
Harry sighed before he turned back to Draco,"I don't care what your father thinks. He's vile and disgusting. And you're pathetic."
Harry then turned his back and began to walk away. Draco took out his wand and was about to cast a spell on Harry but Moody caught him.
"Were you just about to curse him behind his back?!" Moody questioned him, walking over.
"None of your business what I do and don't do." Draco spat.
"Shits about to go down." Erica muttered to Parker.
"I'm all here for it." Parker crossed her arms.
"I'll teach you to curse someone behind their back!" Moody used a spell and Draco was now a ferret.
"Fuck yes! The day has come." Parker bounced in excitement.
The ferret tried hiding behind them after running away from Moody but Erica just picked him up and sighed.
"He'll bite you." Parker warned her.
"If you bite me, I'll chuck you." Erica told the ferret.
"Hey, Draco. I'm never letting this go, I'm going to remind you about this all summer." Parker smirked while McGonagall ran over.
"Look Draco, it's your saviour." Erica whispered, still holding him.
"Where did you get that ferret?" McGonagall asked, looking at the girls before back over at Moody who was holding back a laugh.
"Professor Moody turned Draco into a ferret." Erica told her.
McGonagall quickly took Draco and turned him back to his normal self.
"Aw, he's better as a ferret." Parker pouted.
Erica nudged Parker in the ribs before looking at Draco,"Did you learn your lesson?"
"Shut it Weasley." Draco crossed his arms before he ran off, Moody chasing after him.
"That was the best moment in my life. I'm never letting that slide." Parker smiled.
Erica handed Parker a picture of the ferret Draco.
"How did you get that?" Parker asked.
"Magic." Erica answered.
Parker shook her head with a small smile before he put the photo in her pocket, "If he pisses me off, I'll shove this in his face. Thank you."
"Oh, Harry." Erica walked over to him,"Did you figure out the first task?"
"Dragons." Harry sighed.
"Right, I'm officially excited now." Erica stated,"I can help with this one."
"We're all getting a dragon on the day of the first challenge. We don't know what one we're getting." Harry explained.
"Do you know what types they are?" Erica asked him.
"I know one is a.. Hungarian Horntail." Harry nodded.
"Give me five minutes, I'll be right back." Erica told him, running back to the common room.
"Where is she going?" Harry asked.
"Beats me." Parker shrugged.
After around five minutes, Erica came back with a book with scales drawn on the front.
"What's that?" Harry questioned her.
"I took notes from Charles, remember." Erica reminded him, sitting on a nearby bench.
"My guess is, it's to help you with the first task." Parker sat down, as did Harry.
"For starters, I'm assuming they'll use female dragons as they are much larger and aggressive than the males. It'll make a grander event." Erica started off, flipping through the book of notes and images of hand drawn dragons.
"More chance of dying." Parker muttered.
"That doesn't help." Harry sighed.
"Now, there are ten breeds of purebred dragons, that I'm also assuming are being used, what shall we look at first?" Erica asked him.
"What ones do you think they'll use?" Harry asked.
"Obviously the Hungarian Horntail as it's the most dangerous of all so let's look at that first." Erica told them, flipping to the page it was at.
"It doesn't exactly sound too exciting." Harry told her.
"So, aside from being the most dangerous it also has the longest fire-breathing ranges." Erica began, looking at the book.
"So, don't get too close to it?" Harry questioned.
"I'd say so, it also has great control it's tail spikes." Erica added on.
"Don't get too close to its tail either then." Parker shrugged.
"I suggest using something that can get you around extremely quickly, running might not work." Erica suggested, looking up from the book.
"Like what?" Harry asked.
"Your broom?" Parker suggested.
"That would work." Erica nodded before turning to Harry,"What next?"
"There was this.. Green one, I believe." Harry replied.
"Green... There's the Common Welsh Green." Erica informed him, flipping back a few pages.
"Is that worse or better than the Horntail?" Parker asked.
"Definitely, it's one of the least troublesome." Erica assured them.
"Let's hope I get that one." Harry sighed.
"Knowing our luck? Probably not." Parker looked at the page.
"It usually doesn't attack unless provoked and shoots fire in thin jets." Erica told them, listing off ways that it's probably better.
"Whoever gets that one will be lucky." Harry nodded.
"Do you know what you're doing with the dragons?" Erica asked him.
"Not yet, no." Harry shook his head.
"Hmm, any others that you know about?" Erica asked again.
"Not that I can remember." Harry shook his head again.
Erica flipped through and landed on a random page. Chinese Fireball.
"They sound.. Dangerous." Parker nodded slowly.
"When angry, a mushroom shaped flame will burst from it's nostrils, it's aggressive but it's not as bad as the Horntail." Erica explained.
"So Horntail is the most dangerous?" Harry asked.
"Yeah, if you don't have your broom you are royally screwed." Erica simplified it.
"I won't be able to bring it in with me." Harry shook his head.
"I'll steal it from the Quidditch Stadium. I'll bring it with us, all you need to do is use your wand and say, 'Accio Firebolt'. It should come straight to you." Parker explained.
"Spells are legal." Erica stated, still flipping through,"Hey, my drawings aren't half bad."
"Only use it if you're really in need of it." Parker whispered to Harry before looking at the drawings, "I like them."
"Charles taught me how." Erica stated, closing the book.
"You must pick up a lot from your brothers." Parker nodded.
"I mean, when you're the second youngest, you get to spend time with them and they can't complain." Erica shrugged.
Harry was about to say something but Moody came up to them.
"Harry, can I see you in my office for a few?" He asked.
Harry nodded before leaving, Erica then left to return the book to her common room.
**
"Erica, remember when we were helping Harry with the dragons?" Parker asked while Fleur went to the winners spot.
It was only Harry left.
"Yeah, why?" Erica looked at her.
"Every dragon has been, except the Hungarian Horntail." Parker sighed.
"So? I taught him well, he just needs to fly." Erica shrugged.
"Let's see how this plays out then." Parker leaned over the barrier while Harry walked out into the arena.
The dragon turned to face him, roaring and shooting fire at him. Harry quickly dove behind a rock to avoid it.
Parker looked down at her feet, seeing Harry's broom moving, "He called it."
The broom left the stands and flew down to Harry, him getting on it. As Harry flew back towards the castle the dragon followed him. The students couldn't see them, they were that far. The chase came to a close as Harry jumped off his broom and grabbed the egg they were supposed to take from the dragon. Everyone cheered, that was everyone through to the next challenge. Soon enough, all the Gryffindors were in the common room, plus Parker and Erica. Fred and George had Harry on their shoulders.
"See, I told you it would be fine." Erica called up to Harry.
Harry nodded with a small smile, "Who wants to see me open it?!"
The whole common room cheered for yes. Harry twisted open the egg and all that came out was a horrendous screech. Harry quickly closed it, locking it and the screech stopped.
"What the bloody hell was that?" Ron asked while he walked in.
"The egg." Erica told him, uncovering her ears.
"Alright everyone, go back to your knitting." George said while they let Harry and Ron talk.
Erica kept an eye on them from her corner, making sure they didn't get heated.
"Think they'll argue?" Hermione asked while she walked up to Erica and Parker.
"I hope not, I'm already not going to get sleep so dealing with a fight won't be good." Erica stated, sitting with her feet on the chair.
The girls then saw Ron and Harry gave each other a small hug.
"Finally, they've made up." Parker sighed of relief.
"Thank god, I really didn't want to have to become a parent tonight." Erica let out a breath of relief, her shoulders relaxing.
