Chapter 20 - Four Champions?
"What do you think he'll be teaching?" Ron asked while the Herd walked to DADA.
"Defence Against the Dark Arts." Erica joked, rolling her eyes at Ron.
"No shit." Ron rolled his own eyes, "I mean, Lupin did bogarts first last year. So what will Mad Eye do?"
"Ron, I was joking. If you ask a stupid question, you get a stupid answer." Erica told him, taking a seat next to him.
"Something completely different, my guess is." Parker shrugged, sitting down next to Hermione. Harry sitting next to Neville.
"New year, new teacher." Erica chuckled,"Is this position cursed or something?"
"Most probably." Harry nodded while Mad Eye came forward.
The classroom went dead silent as Moody walked up to the chalkboard and started writing.
Moody then wrote his name up on the board, "I am your new Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher. I'm here because Dumbledore asked me to be. End of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?"
Erica nudged Ron and up his hand went.
"Yes, Mr.. Weasley?" Moody asked.
"So, what will you be teaching us exactly?" Ron asked his professor.
Moody looked at Ron before stepping back, "Who can tell me how many Unforgivable Curses there are?"
"Three sir." Parker spoke up.
"Eager one here. Now, who can name one of them for me?" Moody asked the class and surprisingly Neville raised his hand.
"Theres the.. Cruciatus Curse." Neville told Moody.
"Very good Longbottom. Would you mind coming to the front of the class?" Moody asked the nervous boy.
Neville was hesitant but he got up and walked to the front of the class. That's when Moody took out a small enclosure that contained a spider. He removed the spider and sat it on the desk as he took out his wand.
"He's not going to use the spell on the spider, is he?" Parker whispered.
"My guess is yes, he will." Hermione whispered back.
As expected he did. As the spider squirmed, in clear unimaginable pain, Neville was growing increasingly uncomfortable until Erica snapped.
"Stop! Can't you see it's bothering him, stop it!" Erica yelled before covering her mouth, not expecting that to happen.
Moody looked at Erica before he lifted the spider up and brought it over to her and Ron's desk, "Miss Weasley.. Would you mind telling me what the last unforgivable curse is?"
"The killing curse." Erica stated, looking down slightly.
Moody put it down on the desk before pointing his wand at the spider, "Avada Kedavra!"
The spider let it one last squeal before it fell to the ground. Dead. Ron just stared at the dead spider on the table as Erica looked up at their professor.
"The killing curse. Only one person has been known to survive it. And he's in this room." Moody walked over to Harry and just looked at him before taking a drink out of his flask.
That's when Seamus Finnigan decided to stick his chewing gum under his desk, when Moody wasn't even looking at him.
"You need to find another place to hide your chewing gum, other than under your desk, Mr Finnigan!" Moody shouted before he walked up to his board.
"The old codger can see out the back of his head." Seamus muttered as Moody reached the board.
"And hear across classrooms!" Moody threw his chalk at Seamus.
Seamus ducked to avoid the chalk, looking around to see if that just happened. Everyone looked at each other in confusion. But soon enough, class ended.

"He murdered it in front of me." Erica stated, still kind of in shock.
"They don't call him mad for nothing." Harry sighed.
"Would you like some tea? It always helps with this type of thing. Gets you out of shock." Parker asked Erica.
"I'm good, the thing that usually brings me out of shock is w-" Erica began as she walked into a wall,"That."
"You've to stop doing that." Hermione sighed.
"I mean, I feel fine now." Erica told her.
"You sure?" Parker asked.
Erica nodded,"I don't know why, my body works in a strange way."
"Well if you're fine, come on. We're watching everyone put their name in the Goblet." Hermione told her.
Erica shrugged as the Herd made their way to the great hall. Once there for a little bit, Cedric Diggory got pushed into the age line, right next to the cup before he put his name in. Erica sat down and watched as Fred and George ran up to her.
"No, you aren't seventeen yet. You can't." Erica told them, crossing her arms.
"Well, look here." Fred held up a vial.
As did George, "Brewed it this morning. Should get us over the line."
"It won't work." Erica told them, taking out her notebook.
"Oh yeah?" George asked.
"Why not?" Fred titled his head.
"For starters, that age line stops anyone under the age of seventeen from getting past and secondly, it was drawn by Dumbledore himself." Erica explained.
"So?" They both asked.
"Something as dim-witted as an aging potion couldn't possibly fool it." Erica finished.
"You sound like Percy, besides, that's why it'll work." Fred stated.
"Because it's so incredibly dim-witted." George added.
The twins gave Erica a look before they stood up.
"Ready Fred?" George asked.
"Ready George." Fred nodded before they both linked their arms and drank their vial, "Bottoms up."
Erica sighed, knowing something bad will probably happen.
"He has a point about you sounding like Percy." Ron told her before going back to watching the twins.
Everyone cheered once they were in the circle, soon enough they both put their names in the Goblet. Nothing happened. George looked at Erica as if to say, 'See?'. That's when the Goblet started spouting out orbs of fire that began swarming the hall.
"Not good!" Parker yelped.
The twins were soon flung out of the ring, they now had white hair and a white beard. This is when Erica held up the page in her notebook that she'd been writing on. It read, 'I told you so'. The boys then began to fight each other, by fight, they really just kept pushing one another to the ground.
A crowd gathered around changing, 'Fight!'
Hermione rolled her eyes and sat by Erica as her brother's fought.
"Honestly, they never listen to any of us." Hermione sighed.
Parker nodded while she sat beside both of them, "That's boys for you."
Then, the crowd went silent as Viktor Krum walked in. Viktor walked up to the Goblet and put in his name. He walked off with a crowd of Durmstrang boys who clapped and cheered for him.
Parker looked at Hermiones face, tilting her head, "Is Hermione crushing on Ron's true love?"
Erica shrugged,"Who knows, are they still at it?"
"No, they stopped." Hermione nodded, nudging Parker for her comment.
"If Percy was here that probably wouldn't have happened." Erica remarked, looking at the boys who were now back to normal.
"How is he, by the way?" Parker asked.
Erica sighed and put her notebook away,"He's so busy with his ministry work that if he isn't at work, he's in his room. He's also a complete suck-up but he's also my brother."
"I'm sure he'll take a break at one point." Hermione assured her.
Erica nodded, not entirely convinced by Hermione's words.
**
Everyone soon gathered in the Great Hall. Everyone just sitting anywhere to be honest.
"Everyone sit! The moment you've all been waiting for! The champion selection!" Dumbledore announced.
"Well, it's definitely not one of the twins." Erica joked, looking at them from across the hall.
"You think?" Parker sat down and looked at Dumbledore.
Erica nodded as the first paper flew out and landed in Dumbledore's hand.
"The Drumstrang champion is, Viktor Krum!" Dumbledore read out his name.
That's when all of the Durmstrang students began cheering as Krum walked off to where the room the champions were supposed to go.
The next piece of paper flew out and Dumbledore read it out, "The champion for Beauxbatons is.. Fleur Delacour!"
All the Beauxbatons students cheered as Fleur got up and walked off to the room as well.
"Who do you think the Hogwarts champion will be?" Hermione asked.
"Whoever it is, I'm sure they'll do great." Erica stated, watching as the last piece of paper flew out.
"The Hogwarts champion, Cedric Diggory!" Dumbledore announced, causing all the Hogwarts students to cheer.
Erica clapped,"Good on you Cedric."
"That's it!" Dumbledore threw his hands to the side, "We now have our three champions!"
That's when the Goblet lit up again and another piece of paper flew out.
"That's.. Unusual." Parker muttered.
"Harry Potter." Dumbledore spoke quite quietly at first before he yelled, "Harry Potter!"
Erica looked at Harry over Ron's shoulder, then back at the Goblet and Dumbledore.
"Something tells me that this isn't supposed to be happening." Erica kept looking around awkwardly.
"Harry, go!" Hermione whispered and pushed him up.
"He's only 14, how could he put his name in the Goblet?" Parker asked.
"We've been with him the whole time, he can't have." Erica answered, the gears starting to turn.
"Well he obviously did, didn't he?" Ron told them.
"Detective Erica is on the case." Erica informed them, taking out her notebook.
"This isn't going to be good for Harry." Hermione sighed.
"Can I be your sidekick?" Parker asked.
Erica watched as Harry left, most people booing him. When she turned to her left and saw Ron, he clearly wasn't happy.
"How come he got in?" Ron wondered.
"Give me a few weeks and I might figure it out." Erica stated as Dumbledore ran to follow the champions.
"Dumbledore isn't too happy." Parker sighed.
"Nobody is happy." Hermione added.
"True." Parker nodded.
"The next time a Hufflepuff sees Harry, might be the last time Harry is seen." Erica told them, knowing they'd probably be extremely unhappy.
"I would have the same reaction. Hufflepuffs don't get enough recognition. This could've been their chance of showing what you guys can do." Parker sighed.
"It's too late now, the Goblet is binding. You can't not compete once you've been selected." Hermione told them as Ron rolled his eyes.
"Well, there's only meant to be one champion from each school so that means Harry can back out." Ron shrugged.
"It's not about the tournament, it's the Goblet itself. Now that he's been chosen he has to compete or he'll die." Hermione explained.
"Come on, we've got to head back to our rooms." Parker sighed, "We can find out what the heck went on tomorrow."
Erica nodded before walking in the direction of the Hufflepuff common room, waiting for the anger to hit her as soon as she walked in.
"Weasley!" A fifth year boy, Max shouted her, "How come your Potter friend got into the Tournament?"
"I don't know, why are you asking me? If you're so concerned, ask him yourself." Erica replied, looking up at him slightly.
"Well you're his friend. You would know, wouldn't you?"
"We both know I have the memory of a dead goldfish. Even if he did tell me, I would've forgotten." Erica reminded him, she didn't really like Max that much.
"We'll just ask your other friends. I'm sure they'll remember." Max rolled his eyes.
"Can I go now? I'm really not enjoying this conversation." Erica stated as Cedric walked over.
"Max, she has nothing to do with this. Leave her alone." Cedric ordered.
"I'm just asking her a question, Cedric." Max sighed.
"That I said I don't know the answer to." Erica added.
Max rolled his eyes before he left.
"Thanks for that Cedric." Erica thanked him, having to look up further.
Cedric nodded, "You're welcome. Don't listen to whatever he says, alright?"
"I won't, I'll have to warn Harry not to come around this corridor." Erica joked.
Cedric nodded, "Make sure you do. He'll literally interrogate him."
Erica chuckled before walking away,"Night Cedric."
"Night Erica." Cedric waved.
