"Voilà!" Draco Malfoy announced gleefully as he finally finished setting up the dinner they were going to have. Hermione meanwhile had watched the entire three minutes he took to set up a pizza box and butterbeer. He also went the extra mile to bring two pillows and a picnic blanket. She sarcastically clapped for him as she stopped leaning against the tree the kids at school called the Whomping Willow.
"Congratulations Malfoy, you know how to take things out of a basket. Gold star." She said, causing him to pout.
"I'd like to see you try to do that in three minutes."
"I could do it in one."
"Don't really want to see that happen all over, so how about dinner?" He asked, causing her to nod. The two of them sat down comfortably on the blanket while Draco opened the two cans of butterbeer. She thanked him and they clinked their cans together as a way to start the meal.
"Did you buy the pizza at the Leaky Cauldron?"
"Of course, best pizza in town. But mother does think that anything that doesn't have caviar or truffles is just middle class food." Draco said, laughing at the end.
"You know, I never really got to know your parents. What are they like?"
That's how the night started. The two talked about anything and everything they could. For the both of them, it felt nice to see the face that they vented to and talked to for... a month or two? They found out stuff that they never would've if Hermione paid attention to the numbers she was typing in.
Draco and Hermione, the two realised that they're so different but so alike. Their families, their love of some school subjects and their hate for just school in general, the nerdy and geeky side of them, it was fun to relax and let go. When the night got a little late, they laid down and stared at the stars. Hermione rattled on about Astronomy and how Professor Sinistra taught her a few things, like constellations and myths, and Draco just stared. He listened to her of course and was impressed by her knowledge - as always - but he noticed some things he usually didn't.
The way her eyes seem to light up when she talked about something she was really interested in, but the way her nose scrunched up when she talked about something she absolutely hated like Professor Trelawney's love for talking about Divination during class and also the way she blushed whenever she stuttered or got something wrong. Whenever he chimed in, half the time she would roll her eyes and the other half she would laugh with him with a witty comeback ready.
"Hey Mya?"
"Yes Draco?"
"Wanna go play on the swings?"
"Sure, race you th- hey! You bastard, you cheated!" She yelled as she chased after him. His laughter was loud and boisterous but the two were having the time of their lives.
