Unknown
The glistening snow looks up at the man
Who gloomily strides nowhere definite.
The long, lonely road his only comfort,
When the rest of his life has disappeared.
A tragic accident of human fool,
Turned his life into a raging whirlpool.
'Be careful, darling, there's ice on the road.'
Those are the words that echo in his mind.
Why didn't he listen? Why didn't he?
His wife was his life, but he wanted fun,
And little did he know their fate was doomed.
The sorrow, like salt on an open wound.
Now, trudging slowly along the dark road,
With snow like icing sugar on a cake,
And trees staring down at him with green leaves
Rustling, like a prestigious courtroom case.
He has time to reflect on his actions,
Oh, the deep regret of those distractions.
She had warned him over and over, yet,
Why on earth did he think not to listen?
Since he did not listen, he lost control,
And now she's gone. She's gone somewhere unknown.
The regret sends shivers up his backbone,
But now she's gone. She's gone somewhere unknown.
