Chapter 12

"Wow. That ending was completely inaccurate." Loki remarked as the credits for the Avengers rolled.

"No, I think they really captured exactly what happened. You got your ass kicked, and we went for shawarma because we could care less about you." Tony replied, throwing a piece of popcorn at him and hitting him square in the forehead.

Loki glared at him and stared down at his popcorn for a moment before leaning across the couch and dumping it on the billionaire's head.

Tony squeezed his eyes shut as salt poured down on his head, spitting out pieces of popcorn and shaking his head wildly back and forth like a wet dog, sending popcorn shrapnel flying across the room.

"Really?! My poor hair!" He whined, running off to take a shower.

A girlish scream was heard from the bathroom upstairs a few minutes later.

Loki smirked.

"I....adjusted the water temperature in the shower earlier today. If he walks out covered in burns, you'll know why."

Thor glared at the trickster, but made no moves to reprimand him, for he also secretly found it hilarious.

By the time Tony had managed to fix the shower and get back to the living room, Clint had already started Iron Man 3.

Loki threw his head back and let out an agonizing sigh.

"Why must they make movies to feed Stark's already huge ego?!"

Thor raised an eyebrow at him.

"I really don't think you have any room to talk, brother."

The younger asgardian chose not to respond, and instead busied himself with his refilled popcorn. He took a sip of the drink in front of him and immediately regretted it, wrinkling his nose in distaste.

"What in the nine realms is this?!"

Brunnhilde took a sip of his drink as well and had the same reaction.

Natasha sucked the fizzy liquid through her straw and chuckled.

"It's called Pepsi. Try some more, it's really good."

Bruce sloshed his ice water around in his cup.

"I don't like it because of the carbonation, but you might as well give it another chance."

Clint lost his hatred for Loki for a moment to gesture to his glass.

"Yeah, it's got these fizzy little bubbles in it that makes your mouth tingle! Plus, it's super sweet, like carbonated liquid candy!"

Stark picked up his own glass and chugged half of it, his eyes never leaving Loki's, inviting a challenge.

Loki stared at his Pepsi with suspicion. The Valkyrie backed away slowly with her hands raised, indicating that she wanted no part of it.

"Go ahead, brother. It is quite delicious!" Thor said.

Finally, the trickster took a tentative sip of his drink again, trying to be optimistic. His eyes lit up.

"This is actually quite good!" He announced, taking another drink.

After the Pepsi buzz died down, they settled down enough to enjoy what was left of the movie. It ended too soon, to Tony's dismay, and the next thing they knew, Barton was getting Thor: The Dark World ready to play.

"I can't wait to see your reactions on this one!" He said to the brothers.

"What is this one about?" Loki questioned.

Clint shrugged.

"Oh, nothing too...dramatic. It's basically just an overly detailed recap of your little adventure after what happened in the Avengers."

Both Asgardians went pale, and Brunnhilde smirked from her place next to Loki, snaking an arm around his neck and pulling him close to her.

"This'll be such fun." She whispered in his ear.

"I'm afraid I have to disagree." He mumbled.

The movie started, and Brunnhilde and the Avengers were in fits of laughter by the second scene.

"You look pathetic!" Tony exclaimed.

"Shut up or you'll see what happens when hot pink glitter bombs end up inside of the room you keep your suits in. I've got magic, Stark. Try me."

Tony gave him a dirty look and turned his attention back to the movie.

"Would it surprise you to know that I've seen this movie before?" Brunnhilde asked.

Loki shook his head with a sigh.

"Nothing surprises me anymore, love."

He was proven wrong, however, when the "stairs to the left" scene came. She knew how it upset him, so right before his actor spoke, Brunnhilde put one hand on either side of his face and pulled him into a kiss. His eyes drifted towards the screen, but she returned his focus to him when the kiss heated up. The Avengers looked away, pretending not to notice, but Thor couldn't help but marvel at the fact that the mysterious warrior goddess really would do anything for her lover.

Tears were shed during Frigga's death scene, mainly by Thor and Loki, though Tony surprised everyone by getting slightly emotional at this. Several "I hate you"s were thrown around, once again mainly by Thor and Loki, during their individual least favorite parts.

Towards the end of the movie, Stark spit out his drink, Pepsi spraying everywhere and soaking Bruce. His eyes were fixed on the plasma TV screen, where Loki had just died.

"This little shit just got stabbed to death and he's still alive?!" He yelled at Thor.

The thunderer didn't answer his question, but instead turned to Loki.

"How did you survive?"

The trickster looked away, focusing on his Pepsi instead of his brother.

"Magic. Duh."

Thor was not satisfied with this response.

"I'm serious, Loki. How did you do it?! You've cheated death once before, but I cannot understand how you managed to escape it a second time."

The room had fallen silent, and the movie had been paused. All eyes were on Loki.

He shifted uncomfortably, the leather couch squeaking slightly from the sudden movement. When he realized that this was not something he could weasel out of, he fixed his eyes on the blank wall in front of him and began to speak.

"I knew that Mo- Frigga's death was my fault, but I also knew that Kurse was to blame. The only way to exact my revenge was to take the lives of the two people to blame, one of them being me. I saw the opportunity to destroy Kurse, and knew that it would most likely be my last victory, but I did it anyway. I vanquished the monster and in doing so, received a fatal stab wound. I thought I was dead, but after Thor left, I was healed by a woman named Sigyn....my ex wife...."

All of a sudden, his attention was on Brunnhilde.

"We need to talk." He said, getting up and walking down the hall, the Valkyrie following suit.

"What is it? What's wrong?" She asked.

He found that he couldn't take his eyes off of her once she captured his attention.

"It's about Sigyn. Have you met her?"

Brunnhilde nodded slowly.

"Yes. It was ages ago. She was in training to become a Valkyrie, but dropped out to become a sorceress and devote her life to the practice of magic."

Loki took this in, silently relieved that this might help the news go over smoother.

"Well...."

She put a hand on either of his shoulders and gave him a sincere smile.

"Whatever you have to say, feel free to just tell me. I swear I'll listen and love you no less for it."

The god of mischief realized that he could put this off no longer.

"Brunnhilde....when she came to see me yesterday....she told me that I have a son."

Brunnhilde's lips parted in shock and her eyes narrowed. Without a word, she turned on her heel and walked off, her boots stomping against the stairs as she marched off to her room and slammed her door shut with a loud crash.

Loki walked back into the living room to see eyebrows raised.

"I think she needs some time alone."

They finished the movies in silence, and afterwards parted ways without a single word spoken, heading to their separate rooms for the night.
