The World of Terra
Ryuji POV:
Terra, the very world we can refer to as our home. It is quite vibrant, different and rather strange at times due to I guess evolutions. To start off, some things do need to be explained as I have a feeling that this might be a long story altogether.
To start off, there isn't just Terra that we know, as there are also possibly other realities we aren't fully aware of just yet. The different linkages that exists are very vast that it's hard to tell if they are part of our very world or not. The Heavens, the Underworld, and Terra are somewhat connected in their various ways. Yet while I may know nothing about the Console Continent to the East, and the Continent known as Teyvat to the South, but I am well versed within the formation of Union, the very Nation and Continent that we reside on.
In truth, there are two species that originated from this Continent. The Humans and the Faunus, but later on it was discovered that many other various species that aren't well known except amongst the Supernatural side are rare exceptions and don't appear all too often. Originally, Humans and Faunus have what we could say, a bad blood relationship. Both sides were in a conflict as Humans didn't see them as equals, deciding to send them off to the Island of Menagerie, a reference to keeping them in like wild animals.
Yet as Humanity continued to improve things, advancements in technology and Magical aspects, there came an issue that we can all agree on. The creatures of Grimm, a ravenous, destructive force that covers the majority of Union. While often referred to simply as Grimm in the common vernacular, these creatures serve as the greatest foe to all of Humankind and other species that choose to reside on the Continent of Union. As far back as Humans can recall exploring the Continent as a whole, so do they remember these wicked abominations.
Many of the ancient cultures believed that the creatures of Grimm to be animals possessed by evil spirits, or perhaps the tortured spirits of animals themselves. However, further studies have much to say otherwise after discovering more horrific forms of Grimm, supporting against this form of hypothesis. Everyday, newer creatures of Grimm were discovered as years pass, the scientists perpetually find themselves with more questions than actual answers.
While very little is known about the origins of these wicked abominations, key facts were observed amongst their wild habitable nature. First off, the Grimm exclusively attack Humans, or those who resemble Humanity. While skirmishes between wild animals and Grimm have occurred before, it was mostly based around territorial behaviours rather than needing to feast to sustain themselves. In fact, the most common belief, is that the Grimm aren't obligated to feed, that they simply choose to feast when they want to.
Yet what is quite unsettling to most about these wicked abominations, is the basis of their attraction. The creatures of Grimm are lured towards negative emotions. In rare instances when towns and villages are capable of defending against a wave of Grimm, their survival isn't one hundred percent guaranteed. As when widespread panic occurs, it would only lead to further complications when even more Grimm attacks occur. Unfortunately, little is known about these abominations, as keeping them in captivity has understandably been quite a difficult task, so it is rarely done as they either die or kill those who captured them in the first place.
As further complications that is left furtherly unexplained, the corpse of a Grimm will only remain for a short period of time before completely evaporating. Those who have tried hunting these wicked abominations for sport, usually find this particularly upsetting. However, the ones who hunt them manage to get by through purchasing cheap recreations and perhaps some fairy tales they could come up with.
Although these abominations appear mindless, more further studies have proven that is rather contradictory. It was noted that while younger Grimm tend to be more reckless, older Grimm who have managed to survive their battles, have the tendency to learn from their experiences, and will exercise caution in the future. This perverse form of self preservation, allows these creatures to become more effective killers. In the end, killing is all that matters to these creatures.
However as Humanity continued their advancements, things began to take different shifts in their progressions as things became more confusing than anything else. While cities were built and protected behind closed walls and became secure sanctuaries, the towns and villages were the opposite for when Grimm came to mind. Humanity even began to experience slight changes in their approaches, as not only was there different forms of Magics, there were also different forms of powers forming within Humanity, a form that became known as Quirks.
While the different forms of Magics remain a mystery on how they were created or formed throughout history, Quirks are proven to be nothing like Magic. Quirks are known as forms of mutations within the Human genetics that sometimes grant strange but unique powers of their own. While I am not versed in such mutations, they had their own share of problems.
Humans who began developing these Quirks began to make changes throughout our understandings on how we should've been handling things. It is where the concepts behind Heroes and Villains come from after all.
Hero, a term used to define someone who is willing to save others and protect the weak, putting their own lives on the line for the greater good. Villain, a term used to define someone who was willing to cause harm and bring forth pain and suffering for their own selfish goals and desires. These very core definitions is what formed the profession within the Continent of Union known as Heroes, while the ones who do harm to others are just referred to as Villains who break the laws that were provided.
Yet even amongst that, before their time, there was another thing that was utilized since the beginning. The very understanding of your soul, which could be projected in the form of Aura. Aura, a protective barrier that can protect you from damage, which every living being can utilize if they understood what their souls were truly like. Yet even amongst that, Aura turns into what is to be known as Semblances. A unique form of power that is unique to any person, having their own capabilities. So in a way, I would say that Semblances and Quirks are on the same levels of being further apart from Magic.
Yet if there was one thing I found confusing at one point, was the creation of these weapons known as Imperial Arms. A set of unique weapons created by using materials or parts of legendary beasts that were slain all those years ago. Each of them are powerful in their own regards, and has helped Humanity prosper even during the time when even certain Huntsmen and Huntresses hunted Grimm. However, at one point, way before my time, the Imperial Arms were supposedly stolen and scattered amongst the Continent of Union.
Yet there was one special quality to them, the Imperial Arms choose their wielders, whether they are strong enough to wield such levels of power, is up to the weapons themselves. I in truth haven't encountered such weapons yet, but with them being scattered amongst this very Continent, I can imagine why.
Now, the Magics. There are different ways of utilizing Magic as not everyone can use the same form amongst Humanity. The commonly seen amongst Humanity are two different variations as they fall under two different categories as they utilize their Magics under particular circumstances.
The first is the ones that learn Magic and is able to utilize it in different ways, are the ones that prefer to form Guilds to take on jobs and form communities. They usually prefer to stick to smaller towns or settlements as they all have their own Guilds. Yet those who fall under this Magic category have some strong opponents, some referring to themselves as Dragon Slayers.
The Dragon Slayers are a unique type of people that who utilize a form of Lost Magic known as Dragon Slayer Magic. Each and every Dragon Slayer technically have their own unique forms of control, similar to particular Dragons who utilize their own Element specialties. What makes them harder to fight, at least for most people who uses Magic, if you use an Element that they specialize in, they can consume that Element and replenish themselves or become even stronger. They aren't your average Humans either, though I haven't met any Dragon Slayers yet.
Then you get the second variation, the Magic Grimoires. Books that contain special forms of Magic that Humans can use from the knowledge gained along the many users of these Grimoires. However, what is fascinating is that the Magic doesn't necessarily come from just within themselves, but from the Grimoires as well. Yet what differentiates them is the fact that they contain Clovers, each with a certain set of leaves, representing certain things about the Grimoires they have. The strongest is said to be the Four Leaf Clover because of the knowledge originally coming from the First Wizard King.
The Wizard King initially came to be because of an intense fight against a supposed large Demon, but not many could confirm about it at the time. Yet what they specialize in is the fact that they had formed what is to be known as Magic Knight Squads. These Magic Knight Squads contain individuals who would become Magic Knights, under a particular Exam that they end up joining one of the Squads to fight for Union.
While they do many things, they mostly focus on preserving the peace, similar to what the Heroes do in a sense. However, they take on jobs similar to Guilds as well, which makes them out of the ordinary. However, there are now a few rare exceptions to Humanity as of lately that is yet to be fully explained as this is more of a higher rarity than anything else.
There is what is known as Sacred Gears. Supposedly, they are gifted to Humanity to fend off against threats, given by the Biblical God. There are certain Humans that were born with the unique prowess of Sacred Gears, but the situation doesn't explain why these Sacred Gears are so different, but yet linked to Magic. You could say that they are Magical items or weapons given to them by an old force.
But then you get what is known as the Cardinal Weapons. As the legends say, when the world is in peril, from what is known as the Waves of Catastrophe, four legendary heroes known as the Cardinal Heroes will appear and assist against these Waves. These Cardinal Weapons are what I could consider as like a mixture between Sacred Gears and even Imperial Arms. These weapons apparently choose their wielders, but contain Magic qualities. So these weapons are more adaptive than the Imperial Arms in general.
Though these four Cardinal Weapons are a strange bunch. One would wield a Bow, one would wield a Sword, one would wield a Spear, and one would wield a Shield. While the Waves of Catastrophe aren't linked to the creatures of Grimm, they do cause as much damage and become as highly of a threat, or even more than the Grimm at times. All we can really hope for is that these Cardinal Heroes know what they're doing if these Waves do occur, but then again, they have started recently.
They so happened to have attacked within the Demi-Human regions as Union has done all they could to fend the Wave off, but if I were to guess, they will most likely appear soon, given that these Waves appear through each month according to the legends. Yet one thing that would also be kept in mind, these Four Cardinal Heroes would also be worshipped due to their incredible strengths and feats, but then again, you get the Three Heroes Church, which only worships three of the four Cardinal Heroes. We've had our eyes on them for a little while, but they aren't of main concern yet.
Yet with all the inclusions that is yet to uncover, there's too much history to cover for this Continent in the first place. Yet with my Rebellion, I need to explore the Console Continent and the Continent of Teyvat in order to figure out some things. However, there is actually a reason to why I intend on doing so. You see, these three Continents make up most of Terra, and I intend on seeking out a myth. As of recently, I've heard about the legends of these mystical Dragon Balls.
Apparently people claim that these things can grant the wish of any desire one chooses to wish for. Some may have seen it, some may have not. However, if the wrong people get their hands on them completely, it might become an issue. I can't allow Union, or anyone else get their hands on these things if it can grant any wish....
So for now, I will do what I can for the Phoenix Rebellion, and find a true equilibrium and bring peace to the citizens of Union. A form of peace where there is no abuse of power, no one living in fear anymore, where no one has to hide. That much I can promise, but we are too small of a group right now. Start off small, then work our way up. We'll find a way, we have to... No, we must...
A/N:
That's it for the explanation of the world so far from the perspective of the leader of the Phoenix Rebellion, Ryuji Kaida, or better known by Union as the Dragon of Liberation. We will now get into the Bios for the OCs before we begin the main story, but if you can't tell so far, I am combining the following series together:
Highschool DXD
My Hero Academia
RWBY
Dragon Ball
Akame Ga Kill
Fairy Tail
Hyperdimension Neptunia
Genshin Impact
Black Clover
The Rising of the Shield Hero
While I am combining these things together for this Union story, I am also going to include Vtubers into this story as well since I am more of a Vtuber fanfiction writer. So with that out of the way, time for the Bios, even though I will have to finish them first before beginning the story. So until then, I'll see you in the future updates!
