Chapter 9: Harsh reality check
Just before anyone could leave the gate entrance, the marines heard a familiar voice.
"They're over here!" Looking in the direction of the voice, the marines saw Teams RWBY, JNPR, and CFVY running towards them with their weapons at the ready.
"There you guys are! We've been looking all over... for..." Weiss spoke but slowly stopped. Now that they were up close, they saw that there were dozens of bodies everywhere, with the marines absolutely drenched in blood and their eyes bloodshot red. "Did you guys do all this?"
Much to their relief, their eyes began turning back to normal, though they still did not look very happy to see them. "Yes. Though what are you guys doing here? It's not safe." Pavel asked, his tone cold but eerie calm.
"We came here to help. Ozpin told us to go looking for you when he saw you leaving your small base a few hours ago." Coco responded getting annoyed and angered looks from the marines.
"We appreciate the gesture guys, but as you can see, we've already handled it. The situation is completely under control." Pavel said hiding his annoyance very well.
Ruby tho, spoke her mind looking behind them, "Under control?! You killed all these people!!!"
David looked at a corpse with her brain matter on the ground, "So we did. Shame really."
"Why did you guys kill them!? They're just misguided!" Blake yelled at them.
Anthony and David tired of this bullshit with Blake and her views on the White Fang. Forcefully drags her to a certain location. The rest followed.
The two dragged her over to the bodies of the kids that were executed. Everyone's eyes widened at what they were seeing.
"Does this look misguided to you? Because from we're seeing this is far from misguided. Hell, different from misguided." David said.
Blake started tearing up at the sight in front of her, "Wha-What is this?"
"A harsh reality. This is the true reality of the White Fang under Adam's leadership. Or would our special asswipe tell her the truth." Anthony said grabbing the White Fang Officer who was bleeding from his knees.
"I killed them." He said with fear and pain.
Blake was a sobbing mess, "WHY?!"
So was Ruby, "How could you do this to innocent children?!"
"Because you human scum are responsible for all our suffering!!! We Faunus are the superior species of this planet, not you!!! Humanity should be serving us, and if we have to kill anyone that gets in our way to see that goal come true, so be-!" Anthony stomped on his leg breaking it, "AAAHHH!! MY LEG!!"
Blake just couldn't take it anymore. Faced with some reality of the situation, she fell to her knees and started crying, all while being comforted by her team. "How? How could the White Fang have fallen THIS far?"
David answered for her, "Sienna Khan, when she toke over the White Fang, she should have been tough on the "no killing without a very good reason", instead she has done more harm to not only the White Fang, but to the Faunus, by allowing the extremists like Adam to have a free hand to do whatever they wanted. But in her defense, I don't think she was fully aware of all the things Adam was doing. If she did, I'm sure she would have put a stop to it, one way or another."
The atmosphere was heavy with tension and grief as Team RWBY, JNPR, and CFVY absorbed the harsh reality laid bare before them. The sight of the lifeless children hit them hard, shattering any illusions they might have held about the White Fang's current state.
Weiss looked away, her face pale with shock and disgust. Yang clenched her fists, a mix of anger and sadness flickering in her eyes. Jaune, Ren, and Nora stood in stunned silence, unable to process the brutality before them. Coco's usual confident demeanor faltered as she stared at the bodies, her fists tightening around her weapons.
Blake was inconsolable, sobbing uncontrollably as Ruby tried to comfort her. The betrayal by her former organization and the realization of its monstrous actions left her shattered. Ruby, too, was overwhelmed, her eyes brimming with tears as she held her friend tightly.
Anthony and David, despite their frustration, felt a pang of sympathy for Blake. They understood her pain but knew the reality needed to be faced.
Pavel, observing the scene, sighed deeply. "This is what we're up against. Adam Taurus and his extremists have turned the White Fang into a terrorist organization, willing to kill anyone who stands in their way, even children."
Mari, her voice gentle but firm, added, "We can't afford to let our guard down. We have to stay vigilant and strong, not just for ourselves but for those who can't protect themselves."
Igor, his anger still simmering, looked at Blake. "This isn't about Faunus versus humans. It's about stopping extremists who have lost sight of their cause. If we don't, more innocent lives will be lost."
Blake, her tears still flowing, nodded slowly. "I understand. I... I need to do better. We all do."
Yang placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We will, Blake. We'll fight together to make things right."
The Marines and the students stood united in their resolve. The brutal reality of the situation had forged a stronger bond between them, a shared determination to end the terror and bring justice to those responsible.
Anthony glanced around at the assembled group. "We need to regroup and plan our next move. We have to track Adam down and stop him before he can cause more harm."
David, his expression hard, nodded in agreement. "We've got a lot of work ahead of us. But together, we can do this."
As they prepared to leave, Ruby, her voice small but determined, spoke up. "We won't let this happen again. We'll fight for a better future, for everyone."
With renewed purpose, the Marines and the Huntsmen and Huntresses left the docks, ready to face the challenges ahead and determined to bring an end to the White Fang's reign of terror. The night had been a harsh lesson, but it had also solidified their commitment to justice and peace.
The next day in Beacon Academy, David was in empty classroom with a projector and laptop pacing around the room waiting.
After the marines and students returned last night. Let's just say Ozpin never wanted to see or hear the pissed off tone of Lieutenant Colonel Johann Bauer again. One long rant was enough that even Glynda stayed quiet.
Teams RWBY, JNPR, and CFVY then entered.
"You twelve are damn late." David spoke in a annoyed tone.
Jaune open his mouth to make an excuse, but said nothing remembering last night.
"Take your seats and shut up." They did so, "What I'm about to show you all and/or listen is a piece of America's dark day in history that change... everyone."
David is going show them 9/11 uncut videos and telling that his great grandfather was in the scene where the twin towers fell and where attacked. He wants them to know that terrorist don't get second chances.
The room fell silent as David turned off the lights and started the projector. The images that flickered onto the screen were haunting and raw, a stark reminder of one of the darkest days in recent history. The students watched in stunned silence, their expressions a mix of horror and sorrow.
The footage began with the serene skyline of New York City, the Twin Towers standing tall and proud. Then, in a flash, everything changed. The first plane hit, and the world gasped. The subsequent chaos, the panic in the streets, the second plane striking the South Tower, the collapse, the dust, the screams—all of it unfolded before their eyes.
David's voice, steady but heavy with emotion, broke the silence. "This is what real terror looks like. This is what happens when extremism goes unchecked. My great-grandfather was there, in the middle of it all. He survived, but the memories haunted him for the rest of his life. He was a firefighter, one of the first responders. He saved lives that day, but he saw many more perish."
He paused, letting the gravity of his words sink in. "Terrorists don't get second chances because they don't give their victims any. They act with the intent to cause as much harm and fear as possible. They destroy lives, families, and futures. What you saw last night was a glimpse of that same evil. The White Fang under Adam Taurus is no different from the terrorists who attacked New York on 9/11. They have abandoned their cause for bloodlust and power."
The students sat in silence, their eyes glued to the screen. Yang had a determined look on her face, her jaw clenched tightly. Ruby's eyes were wide with horror, her innocence slowly being eroded by the harsh reality she was witnessing. Blake looked down, tears streaming silently down her cheeks. Weiss's usual composed demeanor was shattered, her expression one of profound sadness and anger. The rest of the teams were similarly affected, each processing the brutal reality in their own way.
David continued, his tone softening slightly. "We showed you this because you need to understand the stakes. This isn't a game, and there's no reset button. Innocent lives are on the line, and it's up to us to protect them. You're Huntsmen and Huntresses in training, but you need to realize the weight of that responsibility. The world needs people who will stand up against this kind of evil, who will fight for those who can't fight for themselves."
He turned off the projector, plunging the room into darkness for a moment before turning the lights back on. The students blinked, adjusting to the sudden brightness, but the images they had seen were seared into their minds.
David looked at each of them in turn, his gaze intense. "I know this is a lot to take in. But you need to carry this with you. Let it fuel your determination to make a difference. We're not just soldiers; we're defenders. And we can't afford to let terror and hatred win."
Blake, still teary-eyed but now resolute, nodded. "We won't let them win. We'll fight for a better world, for everyone."
Ruby, her voice small but firm, added, "We'll do whatever it takes to stop them. We won't let this happen again."
David gave a small, approving nod. "Good. Now, let's get to work. We've got a lot to do."
With a renewed sense of purpose, the students and marines stood up, ready to face the challenges ahead. The events of the night before and the powerful lesson of 9/11 had steeled their resolve, forging a stronger, more united front against the threat of terrorism.
As the group was about leave, Anthony came in with a flash drive(War Crimes uncensored) and handed it to David and whispered to him to show it to them.
David looked at the flash drive in his hand, recognizing the weight of what it contained. He glanced at Anthony, who nodded solemnly, understanding the necessity of the next step. David turned back to the students, who were already on their feet, ready to leave.
"Hold on," David said, his voice carrying a tone of gravity that made everyone stop in their tracks. "There's one more thing you need to see before you go."
He walked back to the projector and inserted the flash drive, taking a deep breath as he navigated to the folder labeled "War Crimes Uncensored." The room was filled with a tense silence, everyone sensing the gravity of what was about to be shown.
"This next set of footage is not for the faint of heart. What you're about to see are real, unfiltered accounts of war crimes committed during various conflicts around the world. These are atrocities committed by those who have abandoned all sense of humanity and decency."
The screen flickered to life again, and the first video began to play. It showed scenes of brutality: civilians being rounded up and executed, villages being burned, and children suffering the horrors of war. The footage was raw, unedited, and mercilessly real.
As the images played out, David narrated softly, "These are the realities of war and terror. These are the consequences when power is abused and hatred is allowed to flourish. Every one of these acts is a reminder of why we fight, why we stand against those who seek to harm the innocent."
The students' faces reflected a range of emotions—shock, horror, anger, and sadness. Weiss clenched her fists, her knuckles white, while Ruby's eyes filled with tears. Yang's expression was a mixture of fury and sorrow, and Blake looked almost numb, overwhelmed by the intensity of what she was seeing.
Jaune's normally cheerful face was pale, Ren's stoic demeanor was strained, and Nora looked like she was barely holding back tears. Pyrrha stood strong, but her eyes were glistening, showing the depth of her empathy and pain.
David paused the video, turning to face the group. "This is what we're up against. The White Fang, as it stands under Adam Taurus, is no different. They commit atrocities, manipulate the innocent, and spread terror. They have to be stopped, and it falls to us to do it."
He looked each of them in the eyes, letting the severity of the situation sink in. "You are not just Huntsmen and Huntresses. You are protectors of peace, defenders of the innocent. Never forget the responsibility that comes with your power and skills. The world needs you to be strong, to be brave, and to fight for what is right."
Ruby stepped forward, her voice shaking but determined. "We understand, David. We'll do whatever it takes to stop them and protect the innocent."
Weiss nodded, her eyes steely with resolve. "We won't let them get away with this. We'll fight with everything we have."
Blake wiped her tears, her face set with determination. "For the innocent lives lost, and for those still at risk, we'll stop them."
Yang added, her voice filled with fire, "We're with you. All the way."
The rest of the students echoed their agreement, each one showing their commitment to the cause.
David nodded, a sense of pride and hope filling him. "Alright then. Let's get to work. We've got a world to save."
With renewed purpose, the group left the room, ready to take on the challenges ahead. The harsh realities they had witnessed only strengthened their resolve to fight against tyranny and protect those who could not protect themselves.
As they left the room, they saw many students, staff, and marines rushing outside.
It was then Anthony and David remembered. Demolitions experts and engineers went to the Mountain were the Grimm Wyvern is sleeping. And with enough explosives and MOABs.
The UNE wasn't planning on killing the Grimm and sealing it. They were going to delete it from planet.
The realization hit Anthony and David like a ton of bricks. Deleting the Grimm Wyvern from existence was a drastic measure, one that carried immense consequences. While it would eliminate an immediate threat, it also meant erasing a significant part of Remnant's natural balance. The Grimm played a crucial role in the ecosystem, and removing such a powerful creature could have far-reaching implications.
"Are they really going through with this?" Anthony asked, his voice filled with concern.
David's jaw tightened, his expression grim. "It looks that way. They must see it as the only option to ensure the safety of everyone."
As they made their way outside, they joined the crowd gathered near the mountain, watching as the demotion experts and engineers prepared the explosives. The tension in the air was palpable, a mixture of anticipation and apprehension.
"We have to trust that they know what they're doing," David said, though his tone betrayed his uncertainty.
Anthony nodded, his gaze fixed on the mountain. "Let's hope this doesn't come back to haunt us."
Together, they stood among their fellow students, staff, and marines, silently waiting for the detonation, knowing that whatever happened next would shape the future of their world.
The deafening roar of the explosion reverberated through the air, shaking the ground beneath their feet. As the sound reached its peak intensity, many Faunus, including Blake and Velvet, found themselves momentarily deafened by the sheer force of the blast.
Blake instinctively reached for her ears, but her hands met only air, her senses overwhelmed by the cacophony of sound. Beside her, Velvet's eyes widened in shock as she realized she could no longer hear anything but a dull ringing in her ears.
Panicked murmurs rippled through the crowd as people struggled to comprehend what had just happened. Some Faunus clutched their ears in pain, while others stumbled in disorientation, their equilibrium thrown off by the sudden loss of hearing.
Amidst the chaos, Anthony and David moved quickly to assist those in need, offering support and guidance to their fellow students and marines. Despite the temporary setback, they remained resolute, determined to help restore order and aid those affected by the explosion.
As the ringing in their ears gradually subsided and the world around them began to regain its clarity, Blake and Velvet exchanged worried glances, silently communicating their shared sense of vulnerability in the face of such unforeseen events. With the support of their friends and allies, they knew they would overcome this challenge together, emerging stronger and more united than before.
A week later, the aftermath of the explosion at the mountain still lingered in the air, both literally and metaphorically. The deafening blast had left its mark on the landscape, scattering debris far and wide and sending shockwaves through the surrounding area.
In the days following the explosion, cleanup crews worked tirelessly to clear away the rubble and debris, their efforts focused on restoring a sense of normalcy to the affected region. Meanwhile, medical teams tended to those injured in the blast, providing care and support to those in need.
For Blake and Velvet, the experience had been especially harrowing. Though their hearing had gradually begun to return, the memory of the deafening roar still echoed in their minds, serving as a stark reminder of the dangers they faced in their line of duty.
Despite the challenges they had faced, however, there was a sense of resilience among the students and marines of Beacon Academy. United in their mission to protect the world from Grimm and other threats, they stood together, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
As classes resumed and life at Beacon returned to its usual rhythm, there was a renewed sense of determination among the students. They understood now more than ever the importance of their training and the responsibility that came with being Huntsmen and Huntresses-in-training.
With each passing day, they grew stronger, both individually and as a team, drawing strength from their shared experiences and the bonds of friendship that held them together. And as they looked towards the future, they knew that no matter what trials awaited them, they would face them head-on, with courage and determination.
