Ruining Everything
Gasping, I awoke to a blurry scene. As I looked around, I began to rapidly blink-the room's details slowly filling themselves in.
After my vision cleared up, I pushed myself up, glancing at the table next to me. Flowers. Upon further inspection, I noticed that I was in the nurse's office.
I began to sit up further before a sharp pain shot through my head, causing me to wince. Rubbing my temples, I warded off the headache, when the door creaked open.
A man with golden locks wandered in, similar to that of All Might's. However, he much smaller, and looked like a skeleton. "Midoriya, are you alright?"
I blinked slowly at him, squinting as if it would help me recognize him.
"Midoriya...?"
Gazing down at my hands, I opened my mouth to speak. My throat felt dry and raw as I rasped, "Is... Is that me?"
I glanced up, only to see mixture of shock and concern on the man's face.
"Ah, then it is... And uh... Who are you? I mean," I rambled, "You look kinda like All Might, but you're much too small to be him."
The man's eyes widened as blood spewed from his mouth, causing him to wipe his lips.
"Are... Are you okay?!" I asked frantically, pulling off my sheets.
"I... Young man-you don't remember who I am?" he asked, hurt.
I bit my lip, shaking my head. "I'm... Sorry? Should I?" My voice became a whisper as I continued, my thoughts becoming wild. "Should I remember? Why can't I remember? Is there something wrong with me? Why can't I-"
Before I knew it, the man's hand was resting on my shoulder, my eyes connecting with his piercing blue eyes. I gulped as he towered over me, giving me a sense of unrest. "Could you...," I awkwardly whispered, as I peeled his arm off of me, "Could you please not touch me?"
He stumbled backwards, sadness growing on his features. "I'm..." He sighed, closing his eyes. Suddenly, he began to grow in size, eventually taking on the shape of the number one hero.
"W-what?!" I sputtered, "How... All Might?!"
His eyes widened, a slight smile creeping on his face. "Ah, I see. You remember this form, at least."
I looked down, muttering to myself. "What's going on with All Might? Is he an imposter? I-"
"Midoriya, my boy, I can assure you that I am All Might. Just... In a weakened state. We've already gone through this, but it seems you can't remember," he trailed off, furrowing his brows. "But look, don't go mentioning this to any of your classmates, alright?"
I tapped my finger on my chin. "My... Classmates? You mean at Aldera? It's not like they'd listen any-"
"Wait, where?" he asked, his voice higher pitched.
"Aldera? My school...?" I said in a questioning manner.
He shook his head. "No, my boy, you go to U.A. High."
My eyes widened. "All Might, that's just ridiculous. I don't have a quirk!" I gestured to my arm, a large blast coming from it. I winced, clenching my teeth from the pain. Afterwards, I began to panic.
"Wait... What? I don't have a quirk... What's going on?" I croaked, my throat dry.
"Midoriya, it'll be alright...," All Might smiled at me, yet it didn't quite reach his eyes. "I can... I can explain everything to you."
I nodded, not knowing what else to say. "O-Okay, All Might."
---
I wandered around the school's halls, attempting to find 1A. Act natural. Act like nothing's wrong, I told myself, struggling to find my room.
"Where is it?!" I shouted, catching the attention of students. Blushing, I continued to walk around until I stumbled on a large door. What is this for? Giants?
Glancing to the side, I saw that the classroom was labelled as '1A.' Guess this is it.
Gulping, I pushed open the door, only to be met by many stares.
"Midoriya... You're back...," a tired looking man's eyes followed me curiously.
I nodded, my knees wobbling as I stood in the doorway.
"Well... Aren't you going to take your seat...?"
Still shaking, I made my way towards the only empty seat in the room-seated behind the only person I recognized.
As I lowered myself into my seat, I felt eyes piercing through my soul, threatening to break me. Soon enough, however, they each turned their attention towards the front.
I squeezed my eyes shut, opening them only to be met by the only person I recognized. "K-Kaachan!" I whisper-yelled, squirming in my chair.
"Deku... What's going on with you?" he growled, a hint of concern in his voice.
I smiled, my lips trembling. "N-nothing!"
He narrowed his eyes at me before turning around, allowing me to sigh in relief.
Blanking out, I stared at the back of Bakugo's head, only snapping it out of it when I noticed other students getting up. Shooting out of my seat, I awkwardly fumbled around with my items, quickly speeding out the door to my next class.
---
Sighing, I wandered out the school doors, glad to finally leave.
"Hey, Deku, wait up!" a girl called out, my head turning in order to see her.
I narrowed my eyes towards the girl, sighing. "Really? I even get bullied at U.A.?"
"What?" she sputtered, "What do you mean, Deku?"
Clenching my fist, I shouted back at the girl. "Please, just stop taunting me! I'm sick of it!"
"Deku..."
"THAT NAME! STOP CALLING ME THAT NAME!" I spat, heavily breathing.
The tension in the air became palpable as the girl stared at me in bewilderment, tears springing to her eyes. As soon as I saw it, I felt an extreme sense of regret.
"Wait, no, I didn't... What's wrong? Please... Don't cry," I whispered.
She wiped her tears away, "I don't know what's going on with you Deku, but... I...Are you messing with me? Do you think it's funny to see me upset? Remembering and forgetting us constantly?" she cried.
I shook my head, confused. "No, I don't have any idea what you're talking about, I-"
"I thought you were... My friend," she said coldly before walking away.
Reaching my hand out, I opened my mouth to speak. Realizing that I could just mess everything up further, I sighed, allowing my arm to drop. I'm just ruining everything, aren't I?
