1. Book 2 is like its very own story, practically.  Why didn't you just continue the narrative from where UNSEEN left off?  There is so much more to this tale than what the characters in UNSEEN can possibly imagine.  In order to complete this story, I had to go back a bit, and in going back a bit, I found that there were new characters that needed their time in the limelight.

2. What exactly is a realm?  "Realm" is a term used by Avie's people to describe a parallel universe.  Other terms you may be familiar with that mean the same thing: Alternate reality, parallel dimension (not technically correct, but commonly used in speculative fiction) and other world.

3. What is the Fold?  The Fold is a conduit, a connective tissue surrounding and connecting all parallel universes. It is the means by which Marcella and Avie are able to journey from one world to another, as well as to travel though time.

4. Speaking of time travel, what gives?  Why did you include this?  Are you nuts?  I included it because I thought it would enhance the story and it worked well as a plot device.  Time travel is a tricky, tricky monster. I limit its usage in this book, but it will play a bigger role in the third book of The Fold, so be prepared!

5. What era is Oliver living in when he firsts meets Avie?  Oliver is living in Washington State during the Great Depression.  I estimate that he meets her for the first time in approximately 1934, give or take.

6. Why do your characters travel forward by not backward in time?  In the worlds of the Fold, backward, or inverse time travel is incredibly difficult to do on a technical level, and on all other levels it is just plain dangerous. Attempting to alter the past in order to fix the future can have unanticipated consequences. Things can go very wrong and conundrums will abound.  I decided to stay away from this in Unheeded.  Hopefully, I will be that wise for UNSPOKEN (book 3), but I'll make no promises!

7. But don't Avie and Marcella go back in time when they show up in Oliver's apple Orchard?  It would appear so, but the answer is no.  Every realm has its own timeline.  So, if I wanted to travel to a parallel world I'd never been to before, I could, theoretically, choose anytime in that world's history.  This is what Marcella did.  After that, however, their return trips to that world had to be undertaken in a chronological or linear fashion.

8. Who is Josef Reyes?  Josef Reyes is a brilliant realm worker from Avie's realm who decides he's going to prove realm journeying exists by opening the Fold in front of a crowd of people.  He takes up residency in Oliver's realm (that's our realm, folks!) and eventually marries and has two sons, Nolan and Marcus.

9. What is realm matter, or realm energy?  Each realm exists at its own frequency (think of different radio stations).  Matter (including people matter) from any given realm can be distinguished from the matter of other realms because it carries its realm's frequency in its energetic makeup.

10. What exactly is other realm sickness?  Other realm sickness affects a person whose energetic makeup is contrary to that of the realm they are living in.  Prolonged stays in a realm that is not one's home realm can hasten this illness, which may present itself in a host of symptoms that very from person to person.  Certain symptoms are apparent almost immediately (the giddiness Avie feels whenever she's in Oliver's realm, Marcella's paranoia, Oliver's dizziness and sense of disorientation).  Oliver's mental health decline is a direct result of other realm sickness.  This is what happened to Josef Reyes as well.

11. Is there a way to get around this other realm sickness so a person can exist in a reality they're not from without getting sick?  Maybe.  Only time (or possibly book 3) will tell!

12. Is someone with parentage from different realms composed of energy from those different realms?  Yes.

13. (Slight spoiler alert in the answer to this question if you haven't read UNSEEN yet) Does this then give someone with more than one energy frequency any advantages? Yes.  This is why in UNSEEN, Nolan can see Clara, and also why he is able to do what he does at the very end of that story.  But there's also a downside for him.  He doesn't feel like he's fully part of this world, and this may very well be because he's not.

14. Clara is a what now?  She is a being of energy.  To her, she feels just as corporeal as you or I, but she isn't, not quite.  She is the resident of an incomplete universe and is therefore incomplete herself.  It is believed and hoped that this can be remedied by removing her from that realm and bringing her to a "normal" realm, though that is bound to be a tricky endeavor.

15. What's the scoop on Book 3?  Book 3, titled UNSPOKEN will be the final installment of The Fold series.  Its tentative release date is January 30th.  I will be posting a teaser for UNSPOKEN soon!  Here's what to expect: multiple POVs, time travel, realm journeying, crazy anti-realm-journey zealots, rescues, collapsing worlds, and so much more.  I hope to wrap the story up and answer any questions lingering from the first two books.  Stay tuned!
