Chapter 3 - Stealthy Stalking.
Patton looked to his left side and grabbed his glasses. He put them on. Upon regaining his decent at best vision, he noticed the time. 5pm. He had slept for 7 hours. He was incredibly grateful that all of his classes were early in the morning, his latest being 9am. He decided to get out of bed and go to subway to retrieve some dinner, he didn't have a car but it was only two blocks away so it wasn't a long walk.
Patton walked out of his dorm and locked the door, not that anyone would actually break into his room anyway, he didn't have anything of value. But he was purely being cautious. Patton was taught from a very young age not to trust people. As he turned around and was about to begin his journey out of the building, he saw Logan making his way down the hall.
Logan had a book in his hands being held in front of him which had his full attention. Lucky book-stard. He was walking rather slowly, not wanting to bump into someone and cause a conflict. He had a neutral expression but his eyebrows were still knitted into a line. Patton could practically feel his heart swoon. Logan seemed even more attractive then he was in the library.
Patton's gaze followed Logan as he turned the corner. Patton didn't feel his longing for food anymore, only his longing for Logan. Ignoring his rumbling stomach and snapping out of his lovestuck trace, he followed Logan down the hall, trying to be as quiet as possible. He wanted to, no, he needed to learn more about Logan. If only to possibly satisfy his longing till another day.
As Patton turned the corner as well, he saw Logan standing in front of one of the doors. His book had been placed between his arm and his torso and he was fumbling his hands in his pocket, looking for his keys. He finally found them in his Narina of a pocket and slid them into the lock. He didn't turn the key straight away however, on the contrary, he looked around cautiously. Right, left, behind.
Patton wondered why he was so worried about being followed. These fears weren't misplaced, considered the soon to be become the stalker around the corner but it still felt strange. It didn't right for Logan's character, or what Patton had seen of it so far, to worried about being followed home.
It really didn't even seem to be for himself as he didn't really seemed relieved when he scaned the 'Empty' hallway, missing Patton by some form a miracle. He seemed to be watching for someone dangerous in particular to protect whoever else was behind the door. Weird. (That foreshadowing tho XD)
Logan sighed, almost in what could be mistaken as annoyance, when he spotted nothing, mumbling something under his breath before opening the front door. Patton quickly rushed down the hall and sat by the door, looking inside. It didn't seem to click at the time that to the strangers passing, this action could possibly be considered creepy but it wasn't.
His affection for Logan was entirely healthy, at least for a couple more minutes anyway, he just didn't know how to handle it. It was especially difficult when it was not only the first time Patton had loved someone, romantically or otherwise, but also his first time feeling emotions. It was all sort of new to him. Even the most basic things like boundaries and consent made no sense to him.
Logan placed his book down, open and upside down, on the small, tidy dining room table. It was soon replaced by another one. It obviously wasn't his, probably his roommates, because he was looking at it with a face of foreign unrecognition before he read the cover and groaned in annoyance. He turned to one of the bedrooms, his voice stern. "Virgil, for the hundredth time, keep your diary in your room!"
Patton grimaced hearing the emo boy's name. He wasn't used to being jealous of not having someone's full, or even any, attention. Virgil burst out of his room with headphones hung around his shoulders, he didn't really look mad, just annoyed. "Whatever Logan." He barked harshly. Despite the look of regret flooding his face from his actions, Patton still felt disgusted.
He would never treat Logan like that. Virgil should be glad that Logan is so gracious to tolerate his existence. Logan shook his head, barely fazed by Virgil's comment as if it were normal behavior which didn't help Patton's rage. "Don't you have a class in 5 minutes." It didn't seen like question, more like a very aggressive statement. Virgil's eyes widened in the apparent realization. Forgetfulness. Add that to his already long list of flaws.
"SHIT!" Both Patton and Logan winced at his audio volume. Virgil ran across the room, grabbing a book from the book shelf and going toward the door which Patton quickly fully hid behind. Virgil had passed him by about a meter when Logan ran out of their shared dorm and grabbed the emo boy's wrists, stopping him. "I'll come with you."
Virgil visibly flinched at the gesture. He turned around, the blush clearly evident on his fleckled cheeks. Patton could feel his blood boil. "W-what?" He stuttered out, Patton wanted to reveal himself and punch him in the gut. This ungrateful piece of sh- "I worry about you when you go out alone. You know what happened that one time." Logan's voice calmed both Patton and Virgil down. He seemed to know exactly what to say to calm a stressed individual.
Patton had no idea what he was talking about but it seemed to mean something to Virgil who looked to the ground out of... shame? "Alright..." Virgil said after a few seconds of uncomfortable silence. Logan turned around, miraculously not spotting Patton again. He attempted to close the door and turned around, thinking it had done what he wanted but he didn't count on Patton grabbing the side of the door before it closed.
Logan reached Virgil again and they began to make their way down the hall, the latter being insanely flustered. When they finally rounded the corner, Patton stood up from his hiding spot. Patton was both touched by Logan's currently unexplained concern but mad it was directed at anyone but him. Patton walked inside their dorm.
He began to explore their dorm. His stomach rumbled yet again and Patton finally answered it's call by grabbing an apple from a fruit bowl. He was sure Logan wouldn't mind since he was his future husband. Wait what? Patton bit into the apple, looking like a complete asshole. He picked up Virgil's diary off the kitchen counter where Logan had preciously placed it and began to skim. Nothing really taking his interest until...
My Thoughts on Logan ♡
Patton nearly choked on his apple. He immediately began reading the entry.
Tuesday 17th, September 2017
Dear diary,
After all the angsty bullshit from my last entry you probably wanna know how I'm recovering. I'm honestly fucking awful and whenever I get up to get some food my back hurts like shit. The only thing that makes this entire thing even remotely doable is Logan. He always checks up on me when he gets back from classes, he brings me my homework and is honestly just a really stand up guy.
In fact, I think I've fallen for him.
Everytime he's around my heart beats twice as fast and I'm constantly blushing and stammering. I'll never tell him though. Why would he like someone like me? Well, a dude can dream. Logan's home, until next time.
- Virgil.
Patton felt his unbridled rage return. How dare he? Like the only person who can make Patton feel human? Patton wanted nothing more than to hurt Virgil and everything he held dear, other than Logan obviously. Patton turned on the microwave and put the diary in. He set the time to thirty seconds. Patton flopped onto the floor in rage.
He gritted his teeth violently and his hands were clenched into fists so hard his knuckles were white. He wanted Virgil to suffer, he wanted to drown Virgil, he wanted to stab him, he wanted to beat him to death, he wanted to choke him, he wanted-. His thoughts were interrupted by the beeping of the microwave.
He pulled the now burnt book out, not even registering the pain from it's heat. He dropped it to the ground, stomping his foot on it repeatedly. Patton had lost his control in his jealous rampage. When he was finally satisfied, he picked up the unrecognizable pile of ash and put it into the trash.
That's what he wanted to do Virgil.
He wanted to see Virgil die.
He wanted to be the one who caused it.
He wanted to kill Virgil.
