Sorry that this is late, but it's still Saturday where I live so I'm counting it as on time. I just usually post at 1am so... I wasn't up that early today! First time all year, so I'm counting that as a victory! Anyway, enjoy this chapter!

What just happened? I looked around the room, searching the others' gazes for answers. They all averted their eyes from mine. Even Logan looked uncomfortable. What is going on?

"Who's Janus?" I tried. More silence. I was beginning to lose my patience. "Are you guys seriously not going to let me in on this?" Thomas looked at the wall and Logan stared at the ceiling. 

"Singin' to myself, cause I'm not uncomfortable at all." Patton sang with his eyes closed. I was losing it.

"Secrets, secrets are no fun, tell me now or else we're done." Logan sighed at this.

"Janus is Virgil's boyfriend" he quickly stated. The others stared intently at me, trying to see how I would react.

"What is a… boyfriend?" I questioned. How the heck do they think I know all these fancy future terms?

"It's a person with whom you are in a relationship with before marriage." Logan explained.

"Wait! So, is it like a betrothal?!" This cannot be happening! If Virgil is already engaged, what will I do? He is the only one. He woke me. He is my soulmate, my perfect other half. Is it possible for me to find love that isn't a soulmate? I felt tears starting to well up in my eyes. If he is betrothed… then did I do all this for nothing? Did I lose my friends and family for nothing? I wanted so desperately to find true love and to love, but when your loved one is already taken?

"Not exactly," Logan's voice snapped me out of my train of thought, "this is a stage you go through before you are engaged or 'betrothed', as you put it. This is a period where you find out if you like this person or are compatible with each other's personalities." Hope swelled up within me. I still have a chance!

"You aren't planning anything are you?" I turned towards Patton. "Because if you ruin their relationship because of some stupid legend I will physically fight you!" He was glaring at me. I was honestly a bit freaked out by this and backed away slowly, shaking my head.

"I would never!" I lied. I know, I shouldn't lie. But this is the one time that I can have happiness. Who wouldn't fight for it?
