10 years old

"Kim Taehyung! You better stop picking on my little cousin!!"

"Jimin I would never!"

My best friend exaggerated a gasp as both myself and Taehyung were splashing each other in the shallow end of the little lake we've been coming too for years. Our fathers are very close and even grew up together so for as long as any of us can remember we've been coming here.

I laughed in the water and splashed Taehyung one more time before swimming for my life back to my older cousin who acts more like an older brother to me.

Jimin and Taehyung are both a year older than I am but that didn't stop myself and Taehyung becoming very close as we grew up together. It was always the three of us against the world, but to be honest I would be lying if I said I didn't have a crush on my best friend. BUT I would never admit that, it's hard to admit it to myself some times but I do.

"Come here baby cousin! I'll protect you!" Jimin

He stood with a towel wide open for me and I ran it o it and he wrapped me up safely inside it like it could protect me from the mischievous Taehyung who was grinning ear to ear as he walked through the water coming my way wearing his swimming trunks.

"Don't you dare Taehyung!" Jimin

He warned Tae, pointing a finger at him. Tae just looked at finger standing now out the water in front of Jimin.

"Or what?" Tae

"I'll beat your butt!" Jimin

Taehyung raised a brow but only to then throw his head back with laughter and so quickly picked up Jimin around the waist and drag him into the cold water kicking and screaming only fuelling Taehyungs laughter.

"No!! Tae don't do it!" Jimin

Then a second later Taehyung threw both of them into the water, a massive splash exploded around them as they disappeared underneath the water.

A moment later they both surfaced and Jimin pushed Taehyung away from him and ruffled his wet dark hair, shaking it off and walked back to the land and picking up a towel.

"Taehyung you jerk! I told you no!" Jimin

"What are you going to do about it shorty?!" Taehyung

Jimin threw down his towel and stomped back off to the water and swam after a laughing Tae who quickly dove under the water and swam away from Jimin who was swimming after him.

I continued to watch them chase each other in the water as I took a sip of my canned lemonade that we brought with us. We took snacks and drinks with us since it's the summer holidays and it's quite warm outside today so we need food and drinks at a time like this.

Luckily we can do something like this by ourselves since it's not too far away from my house. Just about a half mile walk I would say it's not long at all so if my mom wants me or any of us it wouldn't take long to find us.

In another three years or so Taehyung and Jimin will both go to high school before me which is an upsetting thought but I could deal with it I guess. I'll still see them afterwards and I'll start the year after them so it's not so bad. But we still have years for that to happen, I don't have to worry about it just yet.

Now both boys were dunking each other's heads in the water so I stood up and dropped my towel.

"Hey don't do that it's dangerous!"

They both stopped and looked at one another with a grins on both faces. My eyes bulged out my head at what I knew they were thinking and ran for it.

They ran out the water and chased after me while run for my life towards a tree in hopes to climb it but no such luck.

A pair of arms wrapped around my waist and I was dragged kicking and laughing towards the water by Jimin but Taehyung picked up my feet and they both swung me and threw me into the water.

How dare they?!

They both stood there watching and laughing as I came back up to the surface.

"How could you do this to me?!"

I pretend to fake cry and wipe my eyes and pretend I had tears coming out my eyes. They both stopped laughing and dropped their smiles and came running towards me in the water.

Taehyung go there first and pulled me into a hug and Jimin joins in from behind with a hug.

"We're sorry we thought it would be funny." Jimin

"Did we hurt you little petal?" Taehyung

He always calls me that because as weird as it sounds when I was about three years old apparently I use to like flowers soo much I use to try and eat them. I don't remember this but it's weird to think and know I use to do this. I use to be one weird child.

"I'm fine thank you."

They both pulled away from the hug and I did a quick jump and spin in the water splashing them both with hard water splashing at them. They both yelled in surprise and covered their faces and that's how our second splashing war began.

It went on for ages until Jimin gave up first and crawled out the water towards his towel.

"Now leave me here to die!!" Jimin

He dropped his arm over his forehead laying down on the stones on the land next to the water. Taehyung and I both laughed at him and decided that was enough of the splashing and we both walked out the water towards our own towel and sat behind Jimin as he still laid there defeated.

Taehyung and I sat so close together the sides of our wet bodies were touching and I have to say I blushed a little when his upper bare body touched my arm. What can I say he's my first crush.

"So little petal, do you want to have a sleepover at my house tonight? I'm sure my mom will be okay with it." Taehyung

"I'm in." Jimin

He lazily waved his other arm in the air still covering his face with his other arm.

" I didn't ask you and you never say no." Taehyung

He said to Jimin who just ignored his comment.

"So do you want to come?" Taehyung

He picked up his can of juice and took a sip.

"Sure. I'll have to ask my mom but I'm sure she'll be okay with it."

I shrugged at the fact. I know my mom won't say no she never has when it comes to sleepovers with Jimin and Taehyung but it's always better to ask.

"Okay." Taehyung

I continued to sip on my lemonade and stare up at the blue skies that had the pretty green trees underneath it and the beautiful scenery of the lake beside it. It's nice hear to come and relax, our little hang out spot and will always be our little hang out spot.

"I can never get over how beautiful this place is."

Still taking in the view and listen to my cousin now snoring away. How on earth can he sleep on the stones like that? He makes it look so easy but after swimming he does tend to fall asleep very easily.

"Sure is beautiful." Taehyung

I heard him whisper and I turned to look at him. He was looking right at me but widen his eyes and quickly looked away with his cheeks turning a pink colour.

"Did you say something?"

I heard him I just wanted to double check I was right. Taehyung with his rosy cheeks looks back at me with a little smile.

"It doesn't matter. Hey how about we make a promise?" Taehyung

"What kind of promise?"

This peaked my interest and I put down my can of lemonade.

"Just a promise between the two of us. Jimin doesn't need to be included. So just us." Taehyung

He pointed at me and himself and I nod enthusiastically.

"I promise that I will always be there for you. To be your friend and protector if you need one. Friends forever." Taehyung

"Aw that's sweet taetae! But what would I need protecting from?"

He shrugs and hold out his hand.

"I don't know just anything and I'll do it. I would do anything for you. Now deal? I promise to love you always and be there for you when ever you need me and you do the same for me right? Promise?" Taehyung

He looked at me straight in the eye with his large puppy eyes and I giggled and grabbed his hand so we could shake on it.

"Okay I promise."

" TF!! Together forever!" Taehyung

He cheered, smiling widely at me and pulled me in for a hug. We sat there for a while hugging one another. I kept thinking about our promise. I hope he means it with the promise since it was his idea in the first place but I know I would keep mine no matter what happens in the future, he'll always be my best friend.
