8 (INTO THE WOODS)

For the rest of the night, it was nothing but reading over what was in the folder. Jenna looked over the same files, articles, and pictures of herself, but her mind still had a hard time processing all of this at one time. Overall, it was mind-boggling.

When Jenna made an attempt to go to sleep, she felt her body go into a relaxed state. Her brain, however, was still going, where the lies she was told all her life dissolved into the truth of what she was told tonight. For some reason, Jenna tried to visualize what could've happened in the fire at Hawkins Lab, along with Dr. Brenner and her parents, to which she began to miss them, despite not remembering them at all.

Jenna couldn't remember how long it took for her to finally fall asleep, but by the time she woke up the next morning, she felt drowsy. She looked over at the alarm clock and widened her eyes when she saw what time it was: nine o'clock. Panicking, Jenna was about to scramble out of bed when she heard a soft knock at the door.

"Jenna? Are you awake?"

"Yeah, I'm awake," she replied, raising her voice so that her mom could hear her. "You can come in."

The door opened, revealing Dorothy in her work uniform. She gave Jenna a small smile as she sat down at the edge of the bed. "How are you?"

Jenna sighed. "Tired."

"Yeah, I figured that," she responded. "Especially after last night, I'm sure you had a hard time getting any sleep."

Jenna let out a scoff. "Got that right." She paused and attempted to get out of bed once again. "Listen, I'm late for school, so I better get going."

"Actually, I called the school and told them you weren't feeling well," she explained. "I thought a day off for you was needed, so I came in last night and turned off your alarm clock." She paused, sighing. "I know what I told you last night was overwhelming, and I'm sorry that it was thrown on you like that, as well as hiding it from you for so long. I wanted to keep you safe. Hell, I still want to keep you safe. You're still my daughter, blood or not, and I'll always love you. You know that, right?"

Jenna nodded her head. "Yeah, I know, Mom." There was a tug at her heart, knowing that her mom's love for her remained the same, just as it was for Jenna, despite her trust for her mom not being in good shape.

"We can talk about it more after I get home from work, if you'd like?" Dorothy inquired, raising her eyebrows in a hopeful way.

"Sure," Jenna said, with so many questions from last night already coming back to her.

She leaned over and gave Jenna a kiss on the head, then stood up. "I'll see you tonight, then." With that, she turned around and left the bedroom, leaving Jenna alone once again.

When she heard the front door close, Jenna got out of bed and managed to drag herself downstairs, where she found a plate on the table filled with eggs, along with a piece of toast waiting for me. Before she sat down, Jenna went towards the stove to grab the kettle. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. This time, it was louder and faster. When Jenna went to open the door, she was surprised to see who was there.

"Morning, Howard," Carter stated, his hands in his pockets.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Jenna asked.

"I noticed your absence at school, so I thought I'd come over and grace you with my presence," he replied, smirking.

"Very funny. Why are you really here?"

He sighed. "Well, believe it or not, I was a bit concerned after your episode yesterday. I came by to see if you were okay."

"Wow, Carter Page was actually worried about my well-being?"

"Hey, you're lucky that I wasn't feeling school, anyway."

She motioned him to enter the house. "Well, then, why don't you come inside as a way of showing my appreciation?"

"I might as well take that offer, because it's doubtful that it'll happen again," he said, stepping inside.

Jenna closed the door and headed back into the kitchen, where Carter followed her. "Do you want any breakfast or tea?"

"No, I'm fine," he answered, sitting down at the table. "So, why are you not at school?"

"My mom thought it was best for me to stay at home today," she responded, grabbing the kettle. "We had an argument on the way home yesterday."

"About what?"

"Being reckless, like getting drunk at Steve's the other night." Jenna huffed a sigh. "You know, the basic shit that parents worry about."

While his face and body were getting tense, Carter still managed to let out a stiff laugh. "Right, typical behavior coming from them."

Jenna filled the kettle with water and went to place it on the stove. Before she turned on the stove, she looked at her hands, tapping her fingers against the counter. "After the argument, she gave me some time to cool off, then she came into my room with a folder."

Carter shot me a puzzled look. "What was in it?"

Jenna took a brief moment before dashing upstairs and grabbing the folder from her room and bringing it back downstairs for Carter to look at. It was strange that Carter Page would be the first person to know this new information about her. She wondered how he would react to it.

"My mom gave this to me last night and told me a lot of things about me that I don't remember," she stated. "Apparently, I was a special child." She threw the folder on the table in front of him. "You can read for yourself."

Carter glanced at Jenna one more time before his eyes slid down towards the folder, followed by his hands opening it up and letting the papers fall on the table. As Jenna sat down and ate her breakfast, she watched him read over everything, his eyes closely scanning the words.

With a confused and stunned expression on his face, he finally lifted his head up to face me again. "Holy shit," he stated.

"I know. Crazy, isn't it?"

"You think?" he retorted, running his fingers through his hair. "I mean, this is next level crazy shit," he said. "Your whole life is just one big lie, basically, and you just found out about all of this last night?"

Jenna nodded her head. "Yeah. Apparently, my mom wanted to tell me at the right time and also keep me safe."

"You mean, the mom who isn't even your biological mom..."

"Listen, biological or not, she's still my mom," she replied. "Even if I'm still not sure about our trust at the moment..."

"If my mom didn't tell me that I was a test subject at a lab because of powers I had that resulted in a huge fire, killing my parents and a bunch of other people, I'd diminish my trust with her as well." Carter paused, exhaling loudly before continuing. "Speaking of powers, that explains Jonathan's camera exploding like it did. That was your doing."

"Yeah, that was me," Jenna admitted. "Although, I didn't know that was going to happen. I don't have any control over these powers."

"Well, why don't you try to have control over them?" he suggested.

"That's easier said than done," she retorted.

Jenna looked over at the kettle still on the stove, then slowly got up towards it, with Carter following behind her. She glanced at my hands before placing them on opposite sides of the kettle. With concentration, she took a deep breath and made an attempt to boil the water. She wanted to feel the heat emerge from her hands and onto the kettle, but so far, all she got was nothing. After a few more seconds of no progress, she dropped her hands and huffed a sigh in frustration.

"I'll be honest, that was pathetic," Carter commented.

Jenna rolled her eyes. "Thanks for the support," she said sarcastically.

"You've been able to use these powers before, so you'd think that it would just come naturally," he pointed out. "I guess it'll just take some time before you actually learn how to get the hang of them."

"Well, who knows how long that'll take," she mumbled.

"So, have you thought about going by the lab?"

Jenna shook her head. "Not really. It sounds dangerous."

Carter scoffed. "Since when is Jenna Howard afraid of danger?"

"Maybe it's because I have no idea what we'll run into if we go snoop around."

He raised his eyebrows. "Well, maybe if you want some more answers about who you really are, then we should go."

Jenna furrowed her eyebrows. "And when exactly do you want to go?"

"Good question," he replied, looking at the clock above the stove. "I say we go right now."

Before Jenna knew it, she was dressed and ready to go with two water bottles for her and Carter, treading through the woods. They couldn't stay out too long due to Carter having plans to attend Will's funeral later this afternoon. He told her about seeing Jonathan and Nancy yesterday after school and their conversation about Barbara.

"You didn't mention me, did you?" Jenna questioned.

"Why, you don't want anyone to know that me and you can actually be civil towards each other?"

"I was referring to our conversations," she clarified. "You know, the ones that make it sound like we're deranged."

"To be fair, every conversation we've had surrounding Will and Barbara's disappearance really is deranged," he said. "But no, I didn't mention any of that. They're so focused on finding Barb as it is that it seems like they've got their own theories and plans in mind, I'm sure."

"And are you gonna join them?"

He shrugged. "Maybe. I mean, Jonathan and I have talked some ever since his brother went missing, so it wouldn't hurt to help out some more, especially with the information I have from you."

"Right." Jenna took a sip of her water before starting another conversation. "It'll be good for you to socialize and get out more."

He huffed a sigh. "It also gives me another reason to stay away from my house."

Confused at his comment, Jenna wasn't sure if she should press on or not about it. So she just let it settle in the back of her mind as they kept walking.

They went on for quite some time, with Carter leading the way, as Jenna had no clue where Hawkins Lab was located.

"So, how do you know where Hawkins Lab is located?" Jenna asked curiously.

"I take a lot of walks," he answered.

"Why is that?"

"Because I like them."

"Well, that's obvious, isn--"

"Yes, so just leave it at that, okay, Howard?" he snapped, shooting her a warning look.

Jenna widened her eyes at his snappy remark, deciding to not push on any more about it. Before another conversation could start, she realized that they were close to reaching the lab. They spotted the fence surrounding the property, becoming more cautious with every step they took. For Jenna, she was feeling uneasy, her stomach already starting to turn. All she could think about was the idea of getting caught. What they were doing was nothing close to breaking a law like underage drinking. This was trespassing on government property.

"I think everything's all clear," Carter whispered. "Come on."

They treaded carefully around the fence until they made it as close as they could get to the entrance, where beyond it was a somewhat filled parking lot. Hawkins Lab itself was separated into four sections, which from a bird's eye view, the building would resemble a cross. The two remained farther back, worried about someone spotting them.

Standing there, Jenna sensed this anger within me. Knowing that here, at Hawkins Lab, she was nothing but a test subject to these people. Her parents did all this work for them, and where did they end up? Six feet under, that was where. When the tears began to form in her eyes, she sharply turned away so that Carter wouldn't see.

A part of Jenna never wanted to see that lab again, wishing it would just burn to the ground, along with the horrifying memories that were there. But at the same time, she wanted more answers to questions that maybe her mom couldn't give to her.

Still, as of now, she couldn't bear to look at it much longer.

"Are you okay?" he asked, sounding concerned.

"What do you think?" she retorted, furiously wiping the tears before turning back to face him. "A lot happened here that I didn't know about until last night, so sue me for feeling hurt and angry about it."

"I didn't say you couldn't be angry," he pointed out.

Jenna sniffled. "We should go before someone sees us." She spun around, heading back into the woods, hearing Carter reluctantly follow suit.

For the remainder of the journey, Jenna couldn't help but get the suspicion that someone was watching them. When they parted ways, she hurried back to the house and looked out of the windows before closing them. But even after she shut all of the blinds, the odd feeling never left her body, and she began to wonder if anyone from her past was looming not too far from her.

It became clear to Jenna that she needed to watch her back at all times, as well as keep her circle as small as possible with only those she could trust. Because she sensed that more danger was making its way out of the shadows, and things were bound to get ugly.

*******

Everything around the house remained still, with no one coming to the door all afternoon. Jenna tried not to let her nerves get on edge, keeping herself busy with whatever she could get her hands on. It started with reading her files over and over, then she moved on to some schoolwork, seeing that she would most likely miss a lot for being out today. Finally, she took some more time to mess with her powers, resulting in going back and forth with trying to boil the water from the kettle, taking more time with it that was causing her to get impatient. Still, she was slowly getting the hang of it as the temperature of the water would take a while for it to rise and fall.

For the most part, it was quiet and peaceful, which was what she needed.

Jenna was startled when she heard the phone ring, which led to the water's temperature dropping to freezing level. That was new.

"Shit," she mumbled, glancing at the ice over the kettle before rushing to get to the phone on the wall. She picked it up, holding it to her ear. "Hello?"

"Jenna?"

She widened her eyes. "Craig? How did you get my number?"

"It's not too hard to pick up a phonebook. They have those at school, you know."

She let out a small giggle. "Right. Anyway, why are you calling?"

"I was worried when you didn't show up at school. Everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just felt a bit sick this morning, so my mom let me stay home."

"Well, I hope you're feeling better now, because there's a party tonight."

She perked up, grinning. "Oh, really? Where?"

"How about I come pick you up and it'll be a surprise?"

"That sounds like something a murderer would say."

"Yet you'd still take the chance and go with me."

Jenna giggled. "Fair point. There will be alcohol, right?"

"Would it be a party without it?"

"Definitely not."

"So I'll pick you up at eight, then?"

"Sounds like a plan to me."

"More like a date. See you tonight, Jenna." With that, he hung up the phone.

Jenna grinned at the thought of this party being our first official date. She was a little bit nervous as well, which led her to go up to her room and see what she had to wear. Assuming it would be a bit chilly tonight, she went through her closet, picking out long-sleeved sweaters that stood out. Once she narrowed it down to a multicolored-striped sweater (with colors consisting of green, white, blue, and navy), she laid it out on the bed, along with the pair of jeans she picked out.

Jenna looked over at my alarm clock and saw that she had a few hours until Craig would arrive to pick her up. For a while, she went back to experimenting with her powers. She managed to let the water from the kettle drop drastically, but had trouble trying to get it back to a normal temperature. It took a while for it to rise back up to room temperature, and once she did that, she called it quits for the day once she saw it was getting dark outside.

After Jenna got ready for the party, she decided to call her mom at work so that she knew where Jenna would be tonight. Most likely, she wouldn't approve of it, especially after she got on Jenna about being at Steve's the other night. But maybe she needed to go out tonight so that she could unwind, and her mom wouldn't understand that. In the end, even with everything that Jenna discovered about myself last night, she was still a teenager that wanted to have fun. She deserved to have that after what she had been through at Hawkins Lab all those years ago, even if she didn't remember any of it. This was the life Jenna was leading now, the only life she had ever known, and she had to keep it close to me.

Jenna picked up the phone and dialed the number to her mom's work. It rang for a moment before someone picked up and answered. "Melvald's General Store, this is Donald."

"Hi, is Dorothy Howard available?"

"Who is this?"

"It's Jenna, her daughter."

"Oh. Well, Jenna, your mom actually left with Chief Hopper this afternoon."

Jenna widened her eyes. "Is she okay?"

"Yes, she's not in any trouble. That's all I know. Sorry I can't be any more help."

"No, it's fine," she assured him. "Thanks for letting me know."

"Would you like me to tell her you called?"

"I'm sure I'll see her later tonight. Thanks again." With that, the two bid each other goodbye and she hung up the phone, placing it back on the hook.

Jenna was confused as to why her mom was with Chief Hopper. Even though the man on the phone said she wasn't in any trouble, it still worried her. Was she really okay? What exactly did he want with her?

Before Jenna could think about it any more, there was a knock at the door. She went to open it, finding Craig leaning against the frame.

"Hey there," he greeted her, a smirk on his face.

"Hey," she repeated, grinning.

"Ready to go?" he asked.

"Just let me leave a note for my mom," she answered, rushing to the kitchen and grabbing a pen and notecard. Jenna scribbled down a short explanation as to where she would be and what time she would be home. She placed the note on the table, then headed out the door, locking it behind her. "Okay, let's go."

"Great," he said, leading her to his car. "I heard Andrew Caroway managed to get a couple of kegs."

"He always gets kegs," she pointed out. "Anyway, can you tell me where this party is?"

"I told you that it'll be a surprise," he reminded her. Once they were in his car, he started up the engine. "I gotta keep you on your toes, you know."

"Oh, really?" Jenna raised her eyebrows. "Maybe I have to start doing the same with you."

He chuckled. "We'll see about that."

The two listened to the radio while they exchanged more words. Once they arrived, Jenna was surprised to see Craig park in the street, where she thought it seemed familiar as she looked around. "Isn't this where--"

"--we had our makeout session?" Craig finished. "Yes, the party is just through these trees."

"How romantic for us," she said in a sarcastic tone, a smile creeping upon her face. "But why is the party here?"

He smirked, opening his car door. "It's a bonfire. Thought the open space would be better for everyone coming."

Jenna got out of the car and closed the door behind her, staring at the trees. "Must be a lot of people this time around."

"Yeah, since it'll be easier to run away from the cops if we get caught." He paused, raising eyebrows. "You're not too scared to go in the woods this time, are you?"

She giggled. "Only if you're gonna protect me."

He smiled, grabbing her hands and leading her inside the woods.

Jenna could already hear the sounds of cheering and the smell of smoke as they got deeper in between the trees. The bonfire was finally in the distance, along with familiar faces from the basketball team and other students that she knew. When they were spotted, everyone's excitement got louder as they approached them.

"About time you two showed up!" Nathan Hunt, one of the members of the basketball team, exclaimed. "Got in a quickie before coming here, didn't you?"

"Bite me, Nathan," Jenna retorted, shoving him. "Where are the drinks?"

"In those coolers," he replied, pointing at the coolers not too far from the fire. "There's no tequila this time. We were on a budget for tonight."

"I'm sure you were," she retorted, walking past him with Craig.

As they approached the coolers, Jenna looked around to see if any of her friends were here, only to see that none of them were to be found. While that was weird to her, she didn't focus on it too much when Craig handed her a beer, already opened.

"Thanks," she said, taking a sip from the can. "I wonder where my friends are."

"Steve is probably working on his hair after three hours," Craig commented.

Jenna snorted. "I wouldn't put it past him to do that." Taking Craig's hand again, she pulled him towards the bonfire. "Anyway, I'm sure they'll show up soon. In the meantime, let's just enjoy ourselves."

Craig smirked. "I like that idea."

So they began to socialize around the bonfire, laughing with everyone else. Jenna was slowly letting go of the worries that built up inside her head, and she became carefree of everything around her. It didn't take long for the alcohol to take a hold of her, already feeling a bit tipsy after only a couple of beers. The idea of her being who she was before knowing about her past and realizing that she had powers was one she wanted to be rid of for the night as each sip of beer and every touch that came from Craig seemed to be working.

Suddenly, Jenna felt herself getting nauseous from the drinks. She was heading for somewhere to sit down when Craig grabbed my arms before she could fall to the ground.

"You okay?" he asked.

"I don't feel so good," she replied, almost bending over.

"Do you want me to take you home?"

Jenna shook her head. "No, I just need to sit down for a minute. I'll be right back."

He let out a scoff. "I'm sure as hell not leaving you by yourself, Jenna. Come on."

As the couple headed away from the bonfire, the sound of everyone behind them started to fade as their surroundings became cold and dark, with crickets and the leaves crunching beneath their feet being all that they could hear. By the time the two were far enough from the bonfire to not have anyone see them, a noise was heard from a distance, one that neither of them recognized. Jenna slowly sat down, checking around her every so often.

"Did you hear that?" she asked Craig as he sat down in front of her.

"Hear what?" he questioned, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion as he looked around. "No one else is out here but us."

"Are you sure?" The energy to stand back up left her body as her stomach began to turn.

"Yes, I'm sure," he said. "Do you want water? I can go get you some real quick."

Jenna nodded. "That'd be great, thanks."

"Okay, I'll be right back." Craig stood up and headed back for the bonfire.

Once Jenna was alone, the noise she heard kept ringing in her ear, which caused her to frantically glance around again. Despite the sickness still settling in her stomach, she slowly got on her feet, determined to figure out what she was hearing. She decided to walk farther into the woods, not worried about getting some water anymore. For some reason, she had a feeling that something was wrong, and it was all the more reason to go find out what it was.

It was when Jenna got deeper into the woods that the mysterious noise abruptly stopped. Annoyed, she was about to turn around and go back when she suddenly took a look at my surroundings and saw that she was no longer in her world. Again.

"Shit," she mumbled, seeing the familiar sight of the other dimension, along with feeling the blood trickle down from her nose. Letting out a groan, she began to walk around, looking for an exit.

"Jonathan!"

Jenna stopped all of a sudden, frozen at the sound of Nancy Wheeler's voice. "What the--"

"Jonathan!"

"Nancy!" she cried out, letting her feet move faster. "Nancy, where are you?"

The sound of footsteps and panting was within her earshot, then she saw a ponytail almost behind some trees. "Jenna?"

Jenna quickly ran her way, grabbing her arms. "Are you okay? What the hell are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same question!"

"Nancy!" another voice echoed, though it sounded like it was coming from another place.

"Jonathan!" Nancy's attention went back to him as she and Jenna took off running. "I'm right here!"

"Just follow my voice!"

The two of them continued on, trying to let the sound of Jonathan Byers' voice lead the way. However, their running was cut short by the growling of some creature right in front of them, to which they dashed in the opposite direction and hid behind a tree.

"This is definitely not how I wanted to spend my Friday night," Jenna said.

"Tell me about it," Nancy stated, panting.

"Nancy? Nancy! Follow my voice!" Jonathan yelled again, where it sounded like it was coming from a distance.

Nancy spotted the tree stump across from where they were standing and furrowed her eyebrows, wondering if Jonathan's voice was coming from there. Another snarl came from the monster not too far from them, and the girls knew they had to make a choice.

"I think that tree stump is our way out," Nancy said. "That's how I got in here."

Squinting her eyes towards the stump, Jenna saw what looked like a red and gooey hole through the wood. "Okay, I'm a little bit drunk, so maybe you should take my hand and lead the way."

To her annoyance, Nancy took Jenna's hand and carefully stepped out of their hiding spot and to the stump, where she pushed her in first. Jenna could feel the sticky substance stick on her body as she crawled her way out. She eventually felt a hand take her own, pulling her out of the hole. After struggling for a bit, she was finally able to fall out of the stump and back onto the ground she was on before.

Nancy was next, and after Jonathan managed to get her out, he let her stay on top of him for a moment before holding her in a tight hug.

As Jenna was trying to catch her breath, she turned her head and saw a pair of feet heading her way. Sitting up, she focused on trying to see who it was.

"Howard?" the voice of Carter Page rang in her ear. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

"I got lost," she replied. "Like, really lost."

"Did you find them?" another voice chimed in, following up beside Carter.

"Yeah, they're here," he told the girl.

Jenna focused on the brunette beside him, recognizing her as Dana Sellers. "Why is she here with you guys?" she asked.

"It's kind of a long story," Dana answered, chuckling nervously.

Before anyone could speak up, another voice boomed from a distance. "Jenna? Jenna, where are you?"

She groaned, feeling nauseous at the sound of Craig's voice. "Oh, shit."

After a moment, Craig appeared. "Jenna!" He ran over to her side, a disgusted look going on his face as he attempted to pick her up with minimal effort. "What is all over you?"

Jenna stumbled to get up, thinking of something to tell him. "It's, um...it's tree sap."

His disgusted expression went puzzling. "Tree sap?"

"Yes, Bennett, tree sap," Carter snapped. "You do know what tree sap is, right?"

"Watch your mouth, freak," Craig warned him, then focusing his attention back on Jenna. "Seriously, why are you all the way out here with them? We came to the bonfire, not for you to drunkenly run off into the woods."

"Look, it was an accident, okay?" she said, raising her voice. "Can you take me home, please?"

Craig let out a scoff. "How about you get one of your friends to take you home?"

Jenna rolled my eyes. "Craig--"

"I came out here to have a good time, especially with you. I was really looking forward to spending more time with you, and then you just ditch me--"

"I didn't mean to, Craig!" she protested. "Listen, I'm sorry that I ditched you and I'm sorry that I'm ruining your night, but can you please take me home? I'm cold and sticky and feel like shit right now."

Craig scoffed, shaking his head. "You're unbelievable."

"Just come on, Jenna. I'll take you home," Jonathan spoke up, getting on his two feet. "Let's go."

Shooting a glare her way, Craig didn't say anymore as he turned away and headed back to the bonfire, disappearing into the night.

No one spoke a word as the others walked to Jonathan's car, the tension becoming thick around them. But somehow, it faded away once they were inside the car and the doors were shut. That was when the silence was broken by the car engine starting up and Jonathan driving off.

"So, Howard, would you like to tell us why the hell you were so far away from your party?" Carter spoke up.

"I heard something and left to go check it out," Jenna simply replied.

"How did you end up with Nancy?" Jonathan questioned.

She hesitated, glancing at Carter, then back at Jonathan. "It's complicated."

"Right, like how complicated can it be?"

"More complicated than you think, Jonathan," she muttered.

"Can we just not talk, please?" a shaken up Nancy suggested, keeping her head down.

As much as everyone wanted to keep going about what happened tonight, no one else uttered another word, with the exception of Jenna giving Jonathan directions to her house. Jenna, Carter, and Dana only exchanged a few looks at each other, where they were all most likely trying to figure out as to why they were all in this mess to begin with. First, it started out with Jenna mentioning it to Janet, with Carter getting involved in it next, followed by Jonathan and Nancy, and now they had Dana. They were one interesting group of teenagers, that was for sure.

Before Jenna knew it, Jonathan was pulling into the driveway. She noticed that her mom's car was still gone, curious if she was still with Chief Hopper. She wondered if Dana knew that her mom was with her dad for some strange reason, but bringing it up now was pointless.

"Thanks for the ride," she told Jonathan before getting out of his car. She didn't look back as She walked to the front porch and unlocked the door, quickly heading inside and turning on some lights.

Jenna felt her legs get wobbly as she went for the sink in the kitchen, already feeling the sickness ready to come out. Finally, she looked down at the sink and let the vomit get out of her system. For a few minutes, she stood there as she coughed and heaved until there was nothing left in her stomach to throw up.

Once Jenna felt a bit better and cleaned the sink, she made her way up the stairs and into the bathroom, managing to take off her dirty clothes and step into the shower, scrubbing her body until there was no trace of the other dimension on her. She headed for her room and put on a clean set of pajamas and settled herself in bed, attempting to relax and hope that she would drift off to sleep in no time.

As Jenna closed her eyes, she was hoping that when she woke up the next morning that all of this would just be a bad dream. Still, she knew that wasn't the case, because she was certain due to the traumatic events that occurred tonight, none of them were going to be able to get it off their minds so easily, especially not until they figured out what was going on in Hawkins once and for all.
