Kidnapping confirmed

Written 2012 by VeGirl

Stefan and Elena headed up to his room to see if they could find any information on his computer, while Damon and I went to the study to flip through some books. I didn't know where to start looking for this mysterious Annora, even if Damon seemed on top of the game. I sighed and went to the kitchen for a bottle of water.

My phone chimed and I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at the screen.

It was Anna.

I tapped the answer-button. "Where the hell are you?" I shouted worried and almost missed her first words.

She whispered franticly; "Emma, help me! Klau..." and then the phone-line went dead. An icy chill went down my spine and my heart almost stopped altogether.

My God! What should I do? I froze at the spot, but then my mind was starting to work at a hundred miles an hour.
"Klaus got Anna!" I yelled throughout the house.
I rushed into the study but Damon wasn't there. I didn't go look for him; I just grabbed Elena's keys and made a run for her car. I slammed the door shut and speeded out of the driveway with a skid and grovel gushing around the back of the car.

How could I find my friend? Where would I start looking? I just raced around without direction and without a real plan. I tried to calm down and breathed long deep breathes to get some oxygen to my overheated brain.

A plan, I needed a plan! Think, think, think!

I couldn't really Google and find Klaus' address... I shook my head and things started to come together. I had been in this house, but I had no idea where it was.

What would they have done in 'The Vampire Diaries'? And at that thought everything was obvious. The nicest foreclosure in town... Of course!

I did my best to use my gut feeling instead of my brain.

I started to remember little bits and pieces from the day I had spent at Klaus' house. It was a huge house, perhaps a mansion? And it was located next to the woods. Now where could that be?

I was certain a huge mansion like that would not be build next to houses like Elena's or Caroline's. It would more likely be located in an area like the one Lockwood Mansion was built in.

And there I had my plan!

I searched through a couple of areas like that and finally caught eye of a greyish stone mansion with an impressive stone paved driveway. It had huge arched windows and I knew as soon as I saw it that this was it. Somehow I knew where the back driveway and the garage was and I saw several trucks there. It hit me and I remembered that he had this big renovation-project going on in the house.

This was Klaus home.

I drove past the drive way, thinking I should park the car a bit past the house. After have turned the engine off; I grabbed the door handle. That's when the door swung open by somebody else. Stefan stood by the car holding the doorframe.

"Stefan!" I yelped with a hand on my chest. "You scared the crap out of me!"

"You took your time to get here. Emma, why didn't you ask me for directions?" His voice was cold and the smile I could see in his face didn't reach his eyes. I got a cold chill down my spine.

I got on my feet so I could look him in the eyes. "Would you have helped me?" I knew that my tone was too cocky for my best, but my worry was off the roof, and offence is the best defence, right?

He observed me for a while, and then he shrugged his eyebrows and looked away. "My credibility has shrunken, hasn't it?"

I was actually taken aback by his sad tone. "Yes," I simply stated. "You were like a brick wall that everyone could lean upon. Now you're more like a..." I didn't know what to say. "...like a Japanese wall of paper..."

He actually smiled at me. "Come on! Let's trade up to a cardboard-box wall at least." He put an arm around my back and we walked up to the grand entrance of the mansion.

I knocked on the big door and Elijah opened with a slightly surprised look on his face. "Good day to you."

"Hi Elijah, is Klaus home?" I was perhaps a little to blunt.

"Since you ask so polite... no, he's not." His eyes had a small trace of smile.

"I'm sorry, but my friend is gone and I'm afraid Klaus know something about it," I revealed and my eyes start to well up again.

"Come in!" he said with a welcoming gesture and we entered the house. "Why would Klaus be involved in your friend's disappearance?"

His question was valid, but all I could answer was; "He has quite a record in being involved..." By then my emotions overtook me and tears started to flow down my cheeks. "I'm scared something has happened to her," I whined.

Stefan interrupted me. "He was a bit startled when he met Anna, he seemed to recognise her. Rebekah did the same." He was more constructive in his telling of the situation and Elijah listened carefully.

"Please come in and sit down!" he said with an inviting armgesture.
Stefan put his arm around me and I tried to walk with tears blocking my eyesight.

Elijah's sister Amariya came into the room with a tissue-box and I gave her an appreciative look. I noticed that she was now dressed in a pair of jeans, quite a difference since I had last seen her. I thanked her with a weak smile and took a few tissues for my leaking eyes.

"Well, you're here, let's talk. Please tell me what has happened, and why you came to me with this," Elijah added with a serious look at me.

"I came to confront your brother," I spat out and sniffled. "I think he took my Anna."

"Your Anna?" he said with a smile and a look at his sister who sat on the couch beside me. "And who is this Anna?"

I took the iphone from my pocket and flipped out the picture of me and Anna. Amariya leaned over to look and gasped. I looked confused at her, even if I wasn't that surprised. Her eyes kept travel back and forth between Elijah and me. He was startled by her reaction and I went over to the coach he sat in and handed over the phone to him.

He looked at the picture and his reaction mirrored the others. He was just as shocked.

I had calmed down and asked now: "Does Klaus have her?"

It was almost as he didn't understand the question. He couldn't get a word out and even Stefan seemed startled by their reaction.

Amariya said something in what I had guessed was Bulgarian and Elijah answered her. Their conversation grew in intensity and Yonah showed up as well and seemed to wonder what was the argument was about.

He got all pale by the uttering of one word, it was a word they had said several times and I had heard it from Rebekah; Annora.

"Please tell me who Annora is and why she looks like my friend, Anna?"

The three of them just froze and stared at me. "You know about Annora?" Elijah asked pale.

"I've heard the name from you and from Rebekah. But this is my friend Anna, from Sweden, I assure you." I watched them silent for a while. "Elijah, who is Annora?"

He looked at me for a good while, then sighed and started to tell the story. "She was my friend; well her family was friends with our family, when we lived in Scandinavia. In the iron-age!" he added with an eye roll. I smiled at him since we had talked a little about his part in history before, and it enchanted me.

I watched him silently and waited patient for the rest of the story.

"When our families found out about the new world were people lived a strong and long life." He smiled at me and shrugged his eyebrows to emphasize the long life he had talked about.
I had the feeling that a thousand years was a little more than they had bargained for. "Her family travelled with my family as we got to the new world. We lived side by side until father killed and turned us into vampires. Her family could never accept us after that."

"...but she did," I breathed and his look told me I was right.

We kept observing each other intensely for some time, until Elijah revealed. "Your Anna is her doppelganger." He was quiet and let that sunk in for a while. "That probably means she is a descendant from her."

The mystery of her past intrigued me and made me forget both the anger and worry for a short while. I knew she had made some genealogical research, but hadn't got so far, I kept thinking how fascinating it would have been to discuss your ancestors with someone who actually met them way back when.

Suddenly I was jealous at Anna and all the people who knew about their ancestors. How do you find ancestors if you know nothing about your parents?

We sat silent, still observing each other.
"What is it with you two? Why do you listen to her?" Stefan said to Elijah who at first was surprised and then looked a little annoyed. "Emma, why does he respect you?"

I looked at him with a little puzzled face. "Well I'm one of the few that haven't daggered him yet..."

"Yet?" Elijah asked surprised and chortled.

I shrugged my eyebrows and smiled weakly at him. "Yes, and you haven't ripped my heart out yet..."

There was a knock on the door and Yonah went to get that. The next second Damon came in the room. "Emma!"

In the safety of his arms, my anxiety over my friend overtook me again. Tears started flowing and I would haven sunken to the floor if it wasn't for Damin, as my worry of what had happened to Anna returned.

"I'll help get her back." Elijah said to my relief.

"Thank you."
