Chapter 8. Tigress Steel

{Location: New Ninjago city monorail line}(Seliel's POV)

I tap my fingers on the mask. There is no one but myself and Morro inside the train. I don't want to fight him or 'crush his soul.' He's changed. He doesn't deserve it. I blow my hair out of my face, "So...what's it like? Protecting the princess?"

"Not bad." He won't look at me, "Her first parents were killed when the great devourer was unleashed. After that, she spent a lot of time in the palace."

"Cool. Cool." Everything is different. I meant it's not like we were close but we understood one another. And he rescued me from Artemis. How can I crush his soul? I huff as the train stops suddenly, "How do you think Pixal and Skylor are doing?"

"Good." He raises an eyebrow, "Are we going to talk about the elephant in the room?"

"Mabey there's a way around it. You have control over you werewolfness. You don't turn during a moonlit night."

"Yeah but I have to change at least once per month. It's easiest to do it when the moon is full." He doesn't look happy about this as he tosses the scroll back and forth in his hands, "And I have to be the jaded wolf. Jaded is another word for jealous. I was jealous of Lloyd being the Green Ninja."

"But you're over that." I look around, we're not at a station but stuck in mid-air.

"I don't think it ultimately matters," He gets up, pulling at the door, "I'm the only werewolf in Ninjago. Unless you have another wolfy friend that I don't know about, I think our fight is inevitable."

I chuckle as there's an odd stillness in the air, "The one time you're part of a prophecy and you have to be the villain."

He snickers, backing up from the door, "Never can catch a break." THUD! Feet stomp above us. Morro holds out his hand, "Did you hear that?"

CRASH!

The pale purple leather chick swings through the window, kicking me down. She cackles insanely as she licks her sia, "I bet she felt that."

I kick up, hiding the mask behind me, "YOU! You were at the place," I look down to see Mr. E waiting below, "You're not getting the mask."

She lunges, almost giving Morro a haircut, "I'm not here just for the mask." She chooses me to try and stab. I step back, blocking as I'm nearly pushed into a seat. She cackles as she holds the tip over my neck, "Give me the mask."

Morro bear hugs her, picks her off of me then throws her into the wall, "You ok?"

"Yeah," I take his hand up before balling my fists, "I just want to smack her around."

She growls, eyeing the mask, "Her has a name. It's Ultraviolet."

"More like Ultraviolent."

She cracks up laughing, "The quite one will be pleased with only one goals achieved." She opens the door and jumps out the equivalent of a 10 story building. She straddles her bike, "Ta-ta!"

"One of goals?" I feel around, the mask missing. I turn around, Mr. E holds up the mask, holding his index finger over his mouth before hopping out.

Morro snarls, as the train lunges forward into the station, "They got it."

"Skylor, Pixal, keep an eye out for that mask. It may have just been taken from us." I exit the train as I tug on Morro, "Come on. We've left the princess alone for too long."

He grumbles, following me back to the Bounty. He flies me up before ducking down below deck.

Harumi approaches me, her hands folded and her face make up free, "Is everything ok?"

I shrug, I have to show this to Sensei, mabey Kit. She might have some insight into what her mother was saying, "I just found out I might have to kill my friend."

"Oh my," she covers her mouth, "Do you have to?"

"I don't know. I mean, I don't want to. But according to the fate writers I have to."

She smiles kindly while patting my back, "I hope that this was mistranslated then. You are too kind and strong to kill without reason. I trust that when the time comes, you'll make the right call."

I force a smile as I head up to the bridge, "You're a good friend your highness."

"Please, Harumi is fine."

"You're a good friend, Harumi. I hope you're right."

{Location: Laughy's bar}(Pixal's POV)

I cover my ear as I receive an update from Nya. I tap Skylor, using the power of form to hide as the criminal UltraViolet. I nod to a room so we can talk. After giving the robber honesTEA, he confessed that the sons of garmadon hang out here but also have a leader called the Quiet one. I close the door as my human disguise flickers away, "Seliel and Morro just checked in. They lost the mask."

Skylor tightens her fist, "Darn. But there's no way they can find the 3rd mask. We'll stay here and take down the sons of g-"

A biker woman comes in, leaning on the door. Her face is covered in black and white war paint, she has thick leather clothes and messy brown hair, "Who are you?"

"Um," I panic as my disguise comes back on, "That's Sara Connor. I'm Flecha Steel."

"Really? A terminator reference?" She rolls her eyes, "What were you going to say before I came in here?"

Skylor switches to the power of medal readying a punch, "You saw nothing."

The girl throws up her hands, holding something shiny in her right, "I didn't mean anything. Look in my hand."

I take it, it's a police badge. For AJ Myers. I relax as I switch off my disguise, "That is why you were not at the precinct. You are AJ."

"Yeah." AJ sighs as Skylor lowers her hand, "I was assigned to this before all the chaos with Jezzie and werewolves and shade when down. What are you doing here?"

"We're looking into the person they call the quiet one. They took two of the Oni masks." Skylor whispers as cheers ring from outside, "We need to get closer."

"If they feel threatened or want to go back to their base, they'll flee like rats. But they won't take in you two. I'm a part of it but I can't initiate you." AJ takes her badge back, hiding it away.

I hum. Running scenarios in my head. I have over a billion but only 5 where they let us in only to stab us in the back. And 1 where there is no suspicion, "I have a solution. We could get caught."

"What?"

"Listen to me, we do not all have to get caught. Just one of us. The others will turn them in, earning the trust of the leaders and initiating us." I tap my foot, not liking what my programming is suggesting, "AJ cannot do either as she is an officer and we can not interfere with government-sanctioned missions."

"I'll give myself up." Skylor's appearance flickers back to Ultraviolet's, she grins, "I'm might be a little rusty at acting and besides you have the best connection to the team."

"Agreed. I do not like it but we have to do what we must."

"Come on," AJ peeks through the door, "We're spending too much time in here."

We head out. I spot the real Ultraviolet standing with Mr. E. I grab Skylor's arm, "Play along. And I am sorry about this."

She catches my drift nodding before punching me. She cackles like Ultraviolet, "Just who do you think you are? Pasty wimp."

I stumble back before tackling her down, "You're not Ultraviolet. Impostor." I look up as they look interested, "I'll deal with this." I roll her over and she slips out.

Skylor drops her look. Smiling with fire in her hands.

One of the bar guys shrinks, "She's a ninja!"

"You got that right." Skylor holds up her flames. Looking up at Ultraviolet and Mr. E. "And I'm taking back those masks."

She jumps but not before I catch her foot. I throw a kick, leaning in with a punch before putting her in an arm lock, "Oh no you don't." I knee her in the gut, half being hard, half being gentle before locking her in a chock, "You don't come in here and pretend to be the best looking girl in here."

"Enough." Ultraviolet jumps down, the tip of her sia under Skylor's chin, "I like you. Who are you? I've never seen you here before."

"Steel." Throw Skylor into a pole, her pretending getting knocked out. I smile as I fold my arms, "Flecha Steel."

"You don't seem like a Flecha. How about," Ultraviolet holds my shoulder while staring into my mechanical eyes, "Tigress. You definitely fight like one." She chuckles while looking at Skylor, taping her with a kick, "The big man's gonna want to see this. LET'S RIDE BOYS. TIME TO GO HOME!" She leads the charge out to their bikes as Mr. E picks up Skylor.

I follow, crap, I do not have a bike. I look around, wondering if I could get away with a bicycle.

Ultraviolet whistles at me, "Tigress. Ride with me." I hop on as she shouts, leading the way through the city. I begin recording the trail. Sending encoded messages to the Bounty. Ultraviolet then take a sharp turn, driving down the concrete stairs into the subway. She drives right into a trail light before skidding into an abandoned maintenance tunnel, "Did you have fun?"

"Duh." I cackle as I hop off, the rest of the gang coming in, "If every day with you guys is like this, I want in."

"You want in with the sons of garmadon?" A large, bodybuilder sized man looms over me. His face only shows brown eyes, pale skin, and a goatee. He certainly is a big man, "Let me see about that."

I stand tall, not letting him intimidate me, "Are you the quiet one?"

Everyone erupts in laughter as someone carries Skylor off.

The big man wipes a tear from his eye, "No. My name is Killow. The big man. I decide who's in and who's out."

"How do you decide that?"

"Bike race miss...."

"Tigress." I fold my arms as Ultraviolet smiles in approval, "Tigress Steel."

"Well, Miss Steel. You have a bike, hm?"

"She can have mine." Ultraviolet tosses the mask of deception to him, "Just make it a good race."

"Ok then. WE RIDE!" Killow shouts.

Getting cheers from everyone, even me.

Killow sits down with a thud, "But that'll be in a while. Go explore. Just don't leave UV's sight. In fact, UV, can you do the honors?"

Ultraviolet smirks while grabbing my arm, "My pleasure." She whips me around, "So, we've got a ping-pong table, darts but we have to throw knives instead, a few stolen arcade games. We mostly hang in here after knocking a few back at Lucky's."

I carefully watch as someone pushes open a large wooden door to force Skylor in. AJ follows keys in hand and joking with another son of garmadon. "What's in there?"

"Nu-uh," Ultraviolet steers me away, kicking an arcade game awake, "You're just a newbie. You've got to at least ride with us before the quiet one lets you in."

I lean on the game as I offer her a quarter to play, "I'm guessing that's not Lord Garmadon."

"No duh." She takes it, jamming it in and grabbing the play stick.

"Do you have code names for lack of a better term?"

"Nah. Just cooler names." She taps buttons as I scan the area, "Take me, when I got here, someone stole my ultraviolet sunglasses."

"What happened to him?"

"Let's just say I beat up a guy with glasses." She snickers.

Humorous. I crack a smile as Mr. E pulls Killow aside for a chat, "Mr. E is pretty quiet. Is he-"

"Sweetheart," she slings her arms around me while letting her character die, "Cool your jets. The quiet one is a manipulative master, he's got a plan for the last Oni mask. But he's smart, he's had a LONG time to piece together a plan. He likes the shadows, a face you'd never suspect. Mabey you've already seen him, mabey you haven't. You don't know. And he'll make himself known when he wants."

"So it's a he?"

She shrugs as Mr. E and Killow breaks up their talk, "I won't say yes or no to that. I just didn't want to say it or they."

She's no good. She might be insane but she's loyal. Even if she likes me, she wouldn't give up anything easily. I point back to her game, "Ya gonna finish this?"

"Eh," she kicks it, the quarter comes flying out and she catches it. She offers it back to me as the sons of garmadon start getting on bikes. Before I can take it back, she licks it. Pushing it into my palm while giggling, "It's just a game." She takes it, cleaning it on me then puts it in her pocket, "I'm more of a girl fit for thrills."

"TIGRESS!" Killow points to an empty bike while cradling the mask of deception, "Are you done with your talk yet? Yeesh, you girls go on forever."

I straddle on, ditching a helmet to try and fit in more. I'm at the starting line.

"Hey," Killow snaps his fingers, "There's only one rule in the sons of garmadon."

I smirk as I rev the engine, I can't shake the feeling that Mr. E is watching me, "There are no rules."

"Hmm," Killow pouts as Ultraviolet stands in front, ready to start the race, "That wasn't much fun."
