Sixteen | Pretty Eyed Hurricane

Evan

For the first time in the ten years I've been here, I didn't give a shit about how I appeared to everyone.

I sprinted to Amberley, falling to my knees before her. She was shaking, gasping for air as she bleed out. Her hands were on the knife hilt, sticking out of her chest.

"Evan," she gasped.

I cupped her face and shook my head. Her black hair surrounded her like a halo of darkness.

"Get Eli!" I screamed to no one in particular.

"I'm here baby. Just relax, it's not that bad," I tried to relive her tension. Of course it was bad! She had a knife in her chest!

She only raised an eyebrow and glanced at the knife and blood. "There's a knife...in my chest."

"You do have a nasty habit of getting stabbed,"
I said. She let out a breathless laugh.

"I'm sorry, Evan. For everything," she said before coughing. Blood came away on her lips.

"No I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not telling you earlier."

She furrowed her brows and her lashes fluttered. "Telling me what?"

"That I'm madly in love with you."

Her eyes widened and she tried to sit up but she grimaced in pain and collapsed. Something like confusion passed in front of her gaze.

"You love...me?"

I smiled and leaned down to press and kiss to her bloodied lips. The blood had soaked into the knees of my pants.

"Without a doubt."

A year streaks down her face. "I hope you never regret me."

"Never."

Footsteps sounded behind me and I turned to see ten people in grey jumpsuits with a Red Cross against their chest. Medical. Where was Eli?

"Don't forget me, Evan Conway,"she said as the people placed a gurney besides her. They took her arms and legs and hoisted her onto the platform.

"Not a chance, Amberley," I said as they picked her up. I grabbed her hand and smiled as she looked at me.

"Just stay alive."

The world seemed to spin underneath me for a few indescribably minutes. Silence greeted me with a vengeance.

I was angry, terrified and tired of what my life had turned out to be. Anger surged through me and the world seemed to speed up.

My mind cleared as I watched Amberley be toted away by medical. Medical is a group of five people who have weak healing abilities and have to work together to heal a single person. I fell to my knees and drug my hands through my hair.

I couldn't lose her. Not like this.

I rushed away from the chaos, ignoring the death surging around me. I heard my name but I knew I had to end this.

The secluded hallway was luckily empty and I immediately pushed open the secret compartment that held the communication device.

I pushed the button.

"Father?" I whispered.

Static greeted me and I gritted my teeth in annoyance. "Ah Sterling, I see you've meet my Unfeeling friends."

"You killed her, you killed Princess Amberley Da Ville... The King will hang you for this."

My father snorted. "The King? I am the King, you stupid boy! And that broken doll was the only thing that could take that away from me. You could of killed her, given her a painless death but you were too weak! So I sent someone who could!" So this is how he truly felt? That I'm just a stupid boy?

"You are no king down here, father. They won't forgive you for this, I won't forgive you for this!"

"What is she to you? You'd give up the world for a broken, little girl. Do you love her?" My father's laugh caused the static to nearly burst my eardrum, "and that just shows why it's been ten years and you succeeded exactly nothing. Because you're weak... only weak men let someone love them and let themselves love her back. I should of known. You're no son of mine and you'll never be a Valentino."

"She's not broken. She's a hurricane with pretty eyes and raven hair. And she's going to kill you all."

~

I hadn't caught sight of any of my friends and I had no idea where they had taken Amberley. I was stumbling through the madness of the halls. The trainers and leaders of Clandestine were tying to control the Altrus but the stench of death manipulated there senses.

I was searching and scanning for anyone who looked familiar to me. And I eventually did. I watched as Derrick Rose leaned against a wall, grimacing in pain.

I noticed that he was cupping his youknowhat and everything clicked into place. Amberley's absence at the beginning of the game, her torn blouse, and now Derricks flustered state.

I surged forward. He looked startled as I stalked toward him. He tried to run away but my hand grasped his neck roughly and I slammed him against the wall.

He struggled for breath. "You know, I could easily slit your throat and no one would even know it was me. Look around, you'd just be added to the fatality list."

He gulped and I slammed him again. He groaned. "I didn't do anything! She wanted it, she came onto me!"

I chuckled and slammed him again. "I've seen the way you look at her and let me warn you, if you even look at her again I'll make sure that suffer painfully for a long time. Tell me what you did!"

He struggled against my grip. "I didn't do anything, okay! I tried to but she kicked me in the balls before I could even take off her shirt !" This made me smile and I slammed him again.

"You better hope that's all you did, because what you did could be the last thing she remembers before she dies!"

I released Derrick and he collapsed against the wall, gasping for breath.

"She was hit?" He rasped.

I nodded and sneered. "Yes, protecting you and all these bastards. Look around, everyone's running around like they haven't seen death, like they haven't faced it like a foe with a face."

I was disgusted with him and he would know it as long as he was alive. I turned and saw the emotional unfeeling being dragged away. They were all still crying and blubbering all over the place. Derrick grabbed my arm and sent me a disgusted look. "If she dies, then I'm glad I told her the truth."

"And what truth is that?"

Derrick smiles a bloody toothed smile. "That you spent her last few weeks in Rene's bed."

My eyes widen and I push him away with a scoff. She won't remember... and I'll explain t too her later but now I needed to do crowd control.

I stood in front of the chaos and sent a wave of silence over the crowd. Wondering why there lips were magically sealed shut, the crowd turned to me.

"Look at them!" I called, pointing to the soldiers.

"Amberley destroyed them, gave her life to stand up for us. All the dead risked there lives and deserve so much more than laying lifeless on a cold floor," my voice was determined and passionate.

"They are our friends, our family! We will line them up and record they're names and what we will do after that... is go up above and bury them all."

"But as for the Unfeeling... they will burn."
