Chapter twelve: I'm not gonna leave you

❀~~~~❀~~~~❀~~~~❀

Ⓨoongi didn't have a problem with Jimin sticking by his side anymore. Not when he knew why now. Jimin was supposed to protect him. He came to Earth just to be by his side.

Then why did he feel like he wasn't by his side? Sure, he protected his body, but he didn't protect his heart; not how Yoongi wanted. He wanted to feel the love from the ancient creature, not just a body-guard. And from whom would it be exactly? His brother?

"Wait," Yoongi suddenly said as they were heading for his house after school that same Friday. "Whom are you protecting me from?"

"Anything - or anyone - who's a danger to you," Jimin replied.

"Do you know about anyone specific?"

Jimin sighed slightly. "Are you talking about your brother?"

"So you do know?" Yoongi's shoulder dropped in a deep sigh. "Can - can you protect me against him?"

"Of course I can," Jimin reassured him, "it's my job."

Somehow, Yoongi didn't feel comforted. Rather, it seemed forced. Did Jimin even like his human? He always told him it's his duty or job, but was that what he wanted? Yoongi didn't dare to ask, as he was afraid of getting the answer he feared, or if he had to say so, so that 'something bad' wouldn't happen, which Yoongi had no idea what was.

"Can we stop by somewhere?" he asked the angel.

"Where?" he asked curiously.

"Library."

Jimin snorted amusedly. "You wanna read a book?"

Yoongi blushed slightly. "I want to rent a book."

"Sure. Let's go."

As the males stood in front of the library, Yoongi went straight to the section which was named History Religion in the Ancient World. He spotted Jimin beside him, smiling from ear to ear as he glanced at his human and what his motive was.

"Which one is the most accurate?" he asked the angel, as he glanced at him over his shoulder.

"About what?" he asked, though Yoongi stared him right in the eyes.

"You know what."

Jimin scuffed subtly. "Greek," he whispered very lowly, but Yoongi caught on and immediately went up to the Greek section and traced his fingers across the books in front of him, trying to find a book that would match his interest.

But when Yoongi glanced over his shoulder again, the angel was suddenly nowhere to be seen. Fear and panic took over his mind, and he quickly stood up on his feet and ran from row to row of books. "Jimin?" he yelled, though the librarian and people reading there gave him death stares. "Jimin! Jiminie, where are you? Please tell me you're here!" he continued to yell scared.

As he passed the last row, he felt a hand being placed on his shoulder from him, causing him to turn around violently, but the very same warm eyes met his gaze, smiling at him. "Yoongi, we're in a library, you have to keep your volume down - "

Yoongi attacked him with a hug; he nearly broke down in a cry. Not because he was sad, but because he was relieved. He was so damn relieved Jimin was right in front of him, and not had disappeared.

"Yoongi, what's wrong?" he asked worriedly, trying to look at his face, but the human kept his arms wrapped around his neck desperately, burying his face in his neck as he continued to cry.

"I was so scared," he whimpered in between his cries, "I thought you were gone now. I thought I wouldn't see you again."

Jimin let his arms wrap around the slightly taller one. "I'm here, Min Yoongi. I'm not gonna leave you," he whispered in his ear to calm him down, though he wasn't confident in his words; if Yoongi kept on making his heart skip a beat every time their skin would make contact, or him just telling how much the angel meant to him, he'd surely turn weak to his own desires as well as the human's, and if that were to happen, they'd never see each other again.

"Don't leave, ever, okay? Don't ever leave me," Yoongi wept, though as he sniffed, he pulled away from the angel, drying his wet eyes. "Can you promise me that?"

Jimin twitched a bit. "Yes," he said, "I promise."

Yoongi felt relieved he said so, and they went back to the book section Yoongi searched for a book to rent.

"You sure about this? I mean, what do humans know, right?" Jimin suddenly said, seeming a bit uncomfortable.

"You said Greek was accurate," Yoongi muttered, not glancing his way.

"Out of everything, yes, but let's drop it, yeah?"

Yoongi finally turned around slightly, though it surprised him to see how wide the angel's eyes were, and he hadn't noticed until now his cheek seemed redder than usual. It made him jump on his feet and walked up to the other immediately. "What happened when you disappeared?" he asked. "Did someone do this?"

Jimin whimpered slightly as Yoongi tried to touch it lightly, and quickly stared down at the floor between them. "Can we please go?" he begged.

Yoongi didn't even hesitate. "Yes, let's go."

He grabbed his hand reassuringly and they went back to Yoongi's house.

Luckily, no one was home yet, and they got the privacy they both wanted for the time being. Yoongi had to prepare himself to make excuses for Jimin to always be with him, and Jimin was glad Min Seunggi wasn't there as well, so he wouldn't rampage on the human.

As Yoongi sat down on his desk in his room where he'd usually do homework - when he'd actually do them - he found a book from his backpack from the library.

"What is that?" Jimin asked with his serious low tone as he spotted the big book on the desk between Yoongi's hands. "When - when did you take it?"

"Right before I lead us out of the library," he said casually.

"You stole it?"

Yoongi nodded. "Well, if you put it that way," he said, "yeah."

Jimin glared at the human. "How could you?"

"How could I?" Yoongi mocked, "because I want to find out more, obviously! You're not gonna tell me anything, so I have to do everything myself then!"

Jimin felt rage inside of him. "Min Yoongi!" he yelled straight in his face. "Don't you ever think I'm doing this for you? For us? I need to protect you, and myself, from everything and everyone else around us, including Earth and Heaven! Don't be selfish just because you want to understand, because you're just a simple human, not a God." Jimin knew he went over the line, but maybe Yoongi would understand like this.

"Get out of my room," Yoongi muttered.

"Don't be childish now," Jimin protested, but he immediately backed down when their eyes met.

"Get out," he said, "right now."

As soon as the angel was out of his sight, he sat back down by his desk, staring down at the cover of the big book in front of him. He understood what Jimin said. He knew if he opened this book, he might even put both of them in danger. If he learned stuff he shouldn't know, they might be at risk.

But what if it helped instead? What if he could actually help Jimin? He was willing to take that risk. If something horrible would happen if he read it, then why did humans have this book to begin with? Surely it wasn't as accurate as it was in heaven, or they would've probably destroyed it, wouldn't they? So why didn't Jimin want him to read it?

Yoongi's fingers gently stroked the end of the book by the corner, and finally flipped to the first page; as his eyes scanned from sentence to sentence, he learned some boring stuff, as 'angels are generally found being supernatural creatures found in various religions and mythologies, having roles such as being the human's guardians, guiding either various or individuals, carrying out God's tasks, and so on. Angels are usually described as having the shape of human beings of extraordinary beauty; they often are identified using the symbols of big white bird wings (though if they'd happen to be black, they're fallen angels), in white clothing, and light by their side.'

Yoongi thought it was pretty obvious by how much Jimin could tell him, as he already figured his job was to protect him, though it didn't say why, but he desperately wanted to find out.

A/N - as I wrote about the religious stuff about the mythology and history, don't take me too seriously. I only came up with my own stuff as well as doing some light research. Don't take any of this as facts please, it's just for the story.

And thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and are waiting for further updates .xx
