Chapter 1

(A/N: Hi! So the first chapter, 'UNFAIR' (or the chapter before this) was something like a backstory prologue. From here, I'm continuing the book. The last thing was an entry to the 2022 Triwizard tournament. This is getting continued now. This chapter was an entry to the second task in the tournament (I didn't participate) but a bit modified. So...enjoy!)

She walked through the hallways. The only sound which echoed the walls was the soft patter of silent sock feet. This mysterious person was holding a wand which glowed from one end, illuminating the passage.

This person had long, beautiful messy blonde hair, emerald green eyes and pale skin. Yes folks, this is our protagonist Lyraa.

Now why was she walking in the dead of night with a glowing wand, seeming as if she were searching for something?

We'll have to go a little bit in the past...

The snores coming from the bunk above Lyraa agitated her. Studious as she was, she needed her sleep to be able to study. But her friend didn't understand that; the person tossed and turned and snored loudly, testing Lyraa's delicate patience.

Finally, she couldn't take it anymore.

She got up from her bed and wore her robe again. Something heavy was in one of its pockets, something she'd probably put in it earlier. Whatever, she couldn't remember it now.

She pulled out her books from her trunk, laid them on her lap and took out a torch. It was a sort of muggle item; a metal tube with glass at one end and a switch on the other, small in her hand, and with a press of the swiitch, its glass end lit up. Very useful.

She tapped on the switch and the light shone from the torch onto the cover of her Potions book. She took out her unfinished scroll of homework and started writing.

Suddenly, she heard a thump which made Lyraa flinch. She tapped on the switch and the light witdrew from the torch. She quickly closed her books and listened in silence.

A few seconds later, she heard another thump.

And another.

Thump...thump...

It sounded like a person walking. Very heavily. Lyraa got up, put on her socks, and took her wand. She carefully put her books back into her trunk. She got up, and slowly but with a fast pace, got out of the Ravenclaw dorms. She whispered, 'Lumos,' and her trusted wand lit up.

Lyraa walked down the stairs. Her wand was still glowing.

What she was worried about was not the cause of the thumps or that she was in the hallways at this late hour. She was worried that she may run into a teacher, and she wouldn't have a good excuse for her behaviour.

She tried to be careful, and looked out for any other sounds she might hear.

After a while, the thumps were getting louder. Lyraa was getting closer.

Thump...Thump...

She rushed to the location she felt the sounds from. The owl feather woven into her braid flew with her hair as she jogged to the place. 'I'm getting closer!' Lyraa whispered to herself.

Indeed, she was closer to the curious sounds. And it seemed like they were coming from...

'The library!' Lyraa thought. But who must be in the library at this hour?

Lyraa finally arrived at her destination. She opened the doors.

And three simultaneous events happened all at once.

One; the doors opened to reveal the person inside.

Two; Something rolled out of Lyraa's pocket and fell to the floor.

Three; the thumping stopped.

And in front of Lyraa was a person she'd never had guessed was in the library.

It was Tom Riddle, AKA: Voldemort, sitting in a chair, reading a book.

Lyraa stood at the entrance of the library, transfixed and frozen in place. How the hell is this guy, the guy who was seemingly defeated by Dumbledore, here? In Hogwarts?!

Tom Riddle shifted his gaze from the book he was reading to the blonde girl. The girl stopped thinking. She didn't dare to breathe, dare to blink or dare to do anything really, frightened by the man. If he were given a chance, he'd kill the green-eyed girl in a flash.

The Dark lord and the young witch stared at each other in silence.

Suddenly, the brunette leaped and took out his wand. Lyraa tried to react; but the man yelled out, 'Adavara Kedavara!' And tendrils of her green light singed a quarter off Lyraa's coat. Thankfully, she was able to dodge on time. She was in the process of whispering a shield charm, but black branches shot out of the ground and pulled Lyraa back.

Something fell out of her coat pocket as her back painfully hit the bookshelves behind her, toppling all the books on top of her head. Her wand slipped from her hand. Volde-no, Tom Riddle, shifted his form, shedding a layer of...skin?...before showing of his true form. He was now bald, with snake-like features, and pale skin. Lyraa looked by the corner of her eye at the thing that fell out on the floor. In that moment, Voldemort's face came five inches from her face, his acidic breath fanning Lyraa.

Lyraa was once again, surprised by what fell from her pocket.

It was a round, glass orb. A remembrall. Wait, why was that there?

Oh...

Her friend had given her the sphere when she'd almost lost it. Lyraa's friend, Daffy, was a terrible misplacer. She was capable enough to somehow place her underwear in her books' trunk and her normal books at the great hall. Daffy's parents were given numerous complaints about this before the next mail came, and Daffy was given her very own remembrall.

But she feared that she'd misplace the glass orb too, so she'd given it to her trusted friend fir safe-keeping.

Lyraa's eyes were now glued to the glass sphere.

It glowed red.

Wait.

That means...

She's forgotten something?

Was it the fact that Voldemort was inches close to her face? Was it the fact that Voldemort's yells must have been heard from someone?

'Oh! Gosh, I'm so stupid!'

Lyraa welcomed the Dark Lord's acidic breath letting the older man strike her with the jet green death spell. She couldn't even block it if she wanted to; the attack was faster than before and she was unarmed.

'I'd forgotten something so simple?!'

Yes, actually it was the simple fact-

Lyraa woke up in her bed at the dorms, slightly disoriented by the nightmare she'd escaped last night. She reached out her hand into her coat pocket to see if it was still there. It was.

'I'll thank Daffy for the orb later on,' thought Lyraa. 'It did help me in that dream.'

Lyraa continued her usual morning routine of Hogwarts, unbothered by what she'd experienced last night.

Why?

'Because the simple fact she'd forgotten was that she....

...was in a dream." A black haired girl softly whispered to herself as her fingers flew onto the keyboard. The soft clicking of the rather large keys of her computer went well as a background sound. The girl narrowed her onyx brown eyes, and strightened her red-rimmed glasses.

"Well, that was yet another story!' She said to herself as she stretched her sore back and elbows. "I'll publish this thing tommorow, when I get internet access." Her brown eyes shifted their gaze from the Word document to the time on the taskbar.

"Freaking 00:23?!" The girl shrieked in surprise. She swiftly saved the document on her computer and switched it off. "I'm gonna be late for school tomorrow!" She got off her seat and went to her room to sleep.

She switched off all the lights, and closed her eyes when she was safely tucked into her bed.

Little did she know, danger lurked in the nearest future as the girl drifted off into a slumber...
