Christina
Insistent beeping woke Christina. She looked at the nurse taking her blood pressure. She looked familiar but couldn't place where she'd seen her.
"Do I know you?" Christina croaked.
The nurse startled and looked down at her with a bright smile. "Glad to see you are awake. We have had many insistent people waiting for you. Do you want me to send them in? One at a time of course."
"Is Finley here?"
"Finley Wilson? Oh yes, he is here. He's been the most insistent in seeing you."
"Wyvern fan?"
The pretty nurse blushed. "Yes. I have season tickets." Maybe that's where Christina's seen her.
"If he is still here can you send him in?" The nurse nodded and left.
A few seconds later the man in question was at her bedside. "Hello, dove."
"Hello, handsome." Christina started crying.
Finley crawled into the bed next to her. His strong arms wrapped around her. The security she felt in his arms made her relax.
"I didn't think I'd ever see you again." She cried.
"Love, I would never have given up finding you."
"You were there."
"Yes. We don't have to talk about this right now. I want to just hold you."
Christina sat up a bit. "I want to talk about it now."
He nodded.
"Why were you there?" She paled. "Did you see the videos?"
"Det. Valient asked for my help. I offered to do anything I had to make sure you were safe and back to me." Finley kissed her hair. "As for the videos, I haven't seen any of them. I don't want to. I think it will only make me do something that I shouldn't."
"You saw what he did to me on the stage." It was a statement not a question.
"Yes. It took every ounce of me not to charge up there and beat him to death. I know this is for the best. He will get what is coming to him."
"I'm going to have to testify aren't I?" Christina sighed.
"I think if you want him put away you will have to do just that."
"What happened to Melanie?"
"I don't know."
"Maybe I can answer that." Det. Valient said from the doorway. "Melanie actually helped us find you. Apparently, she couldn't live with herself anymore."
"That's what she meant." Christina mumbled.
"Huh?" Finley said.
Christina shook her head and looked at Det. Valient. "Please continue, detective."
"Well, she never asked for immunity or anything like that, so they are currently debating on what should happen to her. She did help in your kidnapping."
"I don't think she should be held responsible. She was as much a victim as me."
"That is out of my hands, Ms. Scott. Now, Garrett Reeve is another story. He will be charged with kidnapping, assault and human trafficking. He won't be seeing the outside of a jail anytime soon."
"Will you need me to testify against him?"
Det. Valient sighed. "For the best case to come out of this, I'm sorry to say, but yes. You would be the proverbial nail in the coffin."
"I will do it."
Finley squeezed her hand. "You don't need to decide anything right now."
"Nothing is going to change, Finley. He still did what he did to me. If Melanie hadn't had the courage to go to the police and risk the life of her daughter than I may have actually been sold to someone to be their sex slave. Garrett would have gotten away with a lot of money and disappeared. I need to do all I can to make sure that monster doesn't see the light of day again."
"You are so strong, love."
"I'm glad to hear all of that, Ms. Scott. When you are back on your feet, we will need you to come down and make a statement and identify him as your captor."
"I have one question though." Christina said.
Det. Valient turned away from the door. "Yes?"
"Why was he selling me? He said he needed money and I took it away from him. It doesn't make sense. He was a millionaire with his contract and endorsements."
"Well, it appears Mr. Reeve had quite the gambling problem. He owns some dangerous people a lot of money. So, when the Bombers let him go he couldn't pay them. They were going to kill him for the amount he owed them."
Christina closed her eyes then leaned into Finley. She listened to Det. Valient retreat from the room. Voices of her family floated into the room from the hall. Finley's warmth lulled her back to the darkness that beckoned her.
Christina was in a field. She felt the sun on her face. She was lying against something warm and hard. Turning she realized she was laying on a man. Her man. Her very sexy man.
"How did we get here?" She asked.
He just smiled and held her closer.
"Can life always be like this?"
He smiled again and looked over her shoulder.
Turning around Christina saw two children playing in the field of flowers. Playing tag, wrestling around with pure joy radiating from them. A large dog bounded around the two herding them toward Christina and Finley.
The two children, boys, notice she is watching them. They wave and smile at her warmly.
"Mummy!" They yell and run toward her.
A warm thrill runs through her knowing she loves these two boys more than anything.
Beep. Beep. Beep. The machines from the hospital woke her from the warm dream. She hadn't had anything other than nightmares since her first encounter with Garrett. Warm arms were still holding her in the hospital bed.
Shifting carefully Christina looked around the room. More people had joined them. Ruby sat next to Dex. His arm curled around her. Her parents, Aunt and Uncle huddled in the corner talking quietly. Imogen, Bella and, surprisingly, Rory were on the other side sitting next to one another. The only ones missing were Jude, Liam and Tamsin.
"This room is bigger than I thought." Christina said quietly.
"They couldn't wait to see you, dove." Finley said in her ear.
"I can see that." Christina looked over at Ruby and Dex. "Is that all sorted now?"
"Dex and Ruby? Oh no. If she had her taser she'd still taze him. I think she's decided to try to work on things with him though."
"Guess I just have to get kidnapped and it fixes all types of relationships." She laughed.
All eyes flew to her. Her parents ran over to her bed.
"Oh Poppin." Her dad teared up. "I was so very scared I'd never see you again."
"I'm sorry to worry you dad." Christina sniffled.
"Don't think on it, duck." Her Uncle said next.
"I'm glad my baby is back. I wouldn't have survived losing you." Her mom squeezed her hand.
Aunt Valentina shed silent tears and whispered, "My corazon." She placed her hand on her heart.
"Can you please stop getting caught up with these horrible situations?" Ruby asked.
Christina smiled. "Well, it looks like for you and Dex to stop acting like children its exactly what the doctor ordered."
"Don't be an asshole. We are not done acting like children." She huffed and crossed her arms.
Dex wrapped his arm around her and smiled. "I have hope."
Ruby glared at him and shrugged him off. Dex just laughed.
"Aunt Christina?" A small voice drew her attention.
Bella was looking at her.
"Yes sweetheart?"
"Are you feeling better?"
"I am."
"Good, because you missed most of my birthday party. Do you think you can come and play with me to make up for that?" She asked.
"Bella!" Imogen said embarrassed.
"I think I can do that." Christina smiled.
"Ok." Bella took a paper Rory had been holding. "I drew this for you to get better." The picture had a sun, a grassy field with flowers and four people.
"It's a beautiful picture."
"I knows." She said. "It's a picture of you, Uncle Finley and the babies you are going to have. This is a field and the sun." She explained.
Christina choked on air. She described the dream she'd had. "I'm not going to have babies right now sweetie."
Her brow crinkled in confusion. "But, you and Uncle Finley were making babies at my birthday party."
Christina flushed. There were a few gasps and a huge laugh from Dex. Bella looked around mad. "Why is that funny?"
"Bella? Why don't we go down to the gift shop? You can pick something out." Rory said saving the day.
Bella nodded her head and took his hand walking out of the door.
"What is this about you making babies at a children's birthday party?" Christina's mom asked.
Christina felt the bed shaking from Finley's laughter.
