Chapter 20: Bargaining

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN JUJUTSU KAISEN, ALL CREDIT GOES TO THE AUTHOR GEGE AKUTAMI-SENSEI, I ONLY OWN THE PLOT OF THIS STORY.

I think this will be the last chapter I'll update for now.  I'm already planning out the next few chapters in my other work "Guardians undercover" I'm kind of debating on when the ending will be, which I think will be coming up soon.  Not really soon, but in a couple chapters.  Which I'm kind of excited for since it's been ongoing for so many years, and I just want an amazing and impacting ending for that one.

It makes me sad just thinking of ending it.

Anyways, sorry for any spelling or grammar errors.

Enjoy.

The fanged mouth smirked, "You're useless." He mocked, "For the past few nights you come to me instead of those jujutsu sorcerers.  Do you know why?"

He didn't wait for her response, "Because they're weak, and you can't even trust them.  How can you trust the people who want to execute your 'precious' brother." He laughed.

It was true.  She couldn't refute his statement.

She was weak.  She was a coward, and she really couldn't trust the people who took both Yuuji and her in.  She felt pathetic, that she knew very well seemed to be the truth.  She hated herself for not being able to do anything on her own.

He may mock her, and degrade her, but Sukuna was the only option she had.  Of course, there was Gojo, but she decided that he would be her last resort.  And she was sure that if she had asked for his help, the elders would notice any suspicious movement and be curious about it and send someone to investigate it.

Though she couldn't trust Sukuna to begin with, but he was the only one who would know more about this than anyone else.

She was basically on her knees bargaining, pleading with him.

'This will be the last night.' She was wasting too much time being here.  She had already spent three days trying to get Sukuna's help, though in the meantime she kept thinking of anything she could do on her own.

"Are you really not going to help me?" She asked one last time.

One look at Sukuna was her answer, "I see." Already expecting that answer, she stood up with heavy and numb feet, feet that felt like they were being sucked into the ground, she walked out of the room.

Sukuna watched her leave, expecting her to come the next night.  But she didn't.

There was no use to keep trying to get help from someone who didn't want to help, from someone who would only laugh at her pain and desperate pleas.

Her heart ached; it was hard to breath.

With each step down the hall to her room, it felt as if her pain grew.

She wanted to change the plot.  Yuuji wasn't going to die anytime soon, but if there was a way to prevent that from happening later one, she would take that chance.  That one moment, if she could only change would make a difference, both good and bad.  Sukuna would get another finger, but if she prevented it, Yuuji wouldn't be able to get the training that he got from Gojo.

'If I can change it, maybe I can ask Gojo to still train him as he did in the series?'

June 15th.

"Gojo-san." She softly called out as she walked over to where Gojo was watching his students practice some of the things he had taught them just hours ago earlier that morning.

He turned his head down to her, his blindfolded eyes looking at her, "Hm?"

"Is there a way to get Sukuna out of Yuu-ni?" She asked hopefully, he was now the only person she could ask.

Pursed lips and dilated eyes looked up at him as if he was her last string of hope in this dark and cruel world.

Gojo had noticed and seen how Yuuji never showed any sign of worrying over Sukuna, but Shina was another matter.  On occasion Yuuji's smile would drop, showing a grieved expression for merely a fleeting moment.

He deduced that the thought of losing her own living family member was eating at her mind.  Thinking of every possible way to save him.

"I promised I'd do my best to keep him safe." Gojo repeated what he had told her days prior.

She frowned; she didn't want to hear that.  She wanted answers.  Impossible answers, ones that she knew were hard to come by.

Gojo turned his gaze towards his three students, "I'll look into it." This was not a lie, but a promise, "Now you should go look for principal Yaga, he should be the one in charge of training you a bit.  He's been busy lately, but he should be back now."

Slowly she nodded, "Thanks." She walked away.

This world was unfair, people were unfair.  But not everyone got to live in equal environments, in equal situations.

And to some the situation of the Itadori siblings may seem unfair, but that was just how the jujutsu world was.

Life and death, there was no such concept as a planned death, as a timely death, as a peaceful death.

In this world of curses, one was born to fight and die.  Fear wasn't an unknown concept, neither was death, or disgust, but some rejected that and gave up.  Trying to live a life as 'normal' as they could.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

It would be a lie, if he would say that he has never thought about how he would die.

Of the countless times he thought of everything and everyone he would be leaving behind.  Of knowing that maybe after his death, they would report him as missing, or as having had an accident and die.  Or maybe even erase any record of him ever having existed.

He didn't know.  But truth be told .... he was afraid and worried.

There had been a time when he had asked Sukuna if there was any way to get him out of his body.  A way to keep him alive.  Sukuna merely laughed and told him that he would have to kill everyone in the world in order to live.

It was useless to ask him, but one night for only a brief second that he thought it was a dream or he was imagining it.  He heard Shina's voice next to him.

He could have sworn he heard her and Sukuna talk.

"Is there a way for you to get out his body?"

"If there's another vessel.  But why would I help you?  This means nothing to me if he dies or not.  There are still other pieces of me left.  Losing two fingers wouldn't make a difference to me."

He had felt his eyes flutter at what he thought he had "heard" next.

"I'm a selfish person.  Yuu-ni is my only family, everyone else can't compare to him."

When he had woken up a few hours later, there was nothing to indicate that Shina had been there.  But for all he knows she could have made sure there was no trace at all.  But at the same time, it could all have been a dream.

If it were real, Sukuna would have mocked him, at having a sister bargain with a curse.  But there had been no such thing.

Maybe it was a dream?  A dream that reflected his hopes and thoughts.  And maybe what he believed what Shina would say.

Yuuji's greatest fear is to leave Shina.  To have her see his death.  That alone was what made him want to live.  But there was no way.

And for all he knew, since he was able to have control over Sukuna, they may think that Shina was capable of the same and try to make her as a vessel for any other cursed spirit they want to get rid of.

What did you think of this chapter?  I felt like it may have needed something else, but I kind of like it.  Though I do feel that I should start to change the way Shina is, since I'm making her seem so weak and useless when she can have so much potential knowing everything from the anime/manga.

Maybe in the coming chapter/s, she'll change for the better.  I hope.

So, that's it for now.  Hope you enjoyed it.
