Chapter 1: Death

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN JUJUTSU KAISEN, ALL CREDIT GOES TO THE AUTHOR GEGE AKUTAMI-SENSEI.  I ONLY OWN THE PLOT OF THIS STORY.

My first Jujutsu Kaisen fanfiction!  Yay!  I hope you all like it, I think I'm going to enjoy typing this .... I hope.

She knew that she was going to die someday, but never had she imagined that she would die in this way.

All alone, and in pain until the last moments until her final breath was taken.

Death is a terrifying thing.  Terrifying, lonely, and sad.  That is what death is.

Tired.  Beyond tired.  That's what was currently going through her mind and body.

She wasn't one for sports, but she would get immersed in them, when someone would challenge her.  For calling her weak or that she was scared of losing.  She was competitive, and now she whole heartedly regrets it.

After all it wasn't every day that she had a soccer ball kicked to her face and having people run at her and nearly crushing her when she fell while trying to run on grass still wet with morning dew.

"I'm so tired." She sighed out as she sprawled herself on her bed not giving a second thought that she was still slightly covered in sweat and dirt from the game.

After resting for a few minutes, she slowly slid off her bed and searched for a change of clothes to take a shower.  She may be tired, but she certainly didn't like feeling nor smelling the sweat that clung to her skin and clothes.  And the fact that she had some grass and dirt in her nails that she desperately wanted to get rid of.

She sighed as she washed the dirt under her nails, using the bristled brush she uses to wash under her nails in the sink.

Her muscles ached as she washed herself, they felt sore right now, and she knew for a fact that later that night or in the morning her entire body would be hurting even more than it did now.  Every move of her arms as she moved the sponge across her body to wash all sweat and smell from her body with the flower-scented body wash.

Letting the warm water wash her body, she began to move her hair around to get her hair wet enough to begin washing it.

She squeezed shampoo into the palm of her hand and began to wash her hair.  Kneading her fingers in her scalp and ends of her hair, she carefully and thoroughly rubbed her hair until a thick foam formed on her hair.

Closing her eyes with a sigh, she began to rinse her hair, running her finger in-between her dark brown hair to get all knots and shampoo out of her hair.

"This is such a hassle." She muttered as she walked into her room while drying her hair with a towel.  She had forgotten of the blanket on her bed that she had laid on before taking a shower.

With a sigh, she dropped her damp towel on the floor and went to pull off the comforter, and pillows of the bed.  She rolled them and carried it in her arms as she turned around to head once again out of the room after also picking up her discarded towel to put in the washing machine.

After she had put laundry in the washing machine, she looked up the clocked hanging on the wall.  Her mother had put clocks all over the house, except in the bathroom.  Clock in the living room, kitchen, hallway, and laundry room.

7:30 in the evening was the time displayed on the clock.

"Maybe I should make myself something to eat." She said to herself as she closed the lid of the machine, "Mom isn't going to be back until tomorrow morning.  Maybe I should leave her some in the refrigerator for her to eat as breakfast?" Her mother working night shift at hospital was a normal in her life, she had gotten used to leaving something for her mother eat in the morning.  Though this night shift was temporary until the next week.

She shrugged and made her way out of the laundry room and headed upstairs back to her own room to further dry her hair with the blow dryer and to tie her hair before making something to eat.

As she made her way to the kitchen, she passed by the living room and turned on the t.v, she didn't like how quiet it was.  And having some noise would make her feel better, and not as bored while cooking.

~Time Skip (Minutes Later) ~

"Sam, you're so stupid!" She exclaimed to herself with a sigh.

She had wanted to make some fried chicken, but she didn't add enough oil to the pan and the chicken had gotten stuck to the pan and began to burn.

"Maybe I should order a pizza." She sighed as she reached for her phone in her pocket.

Dialing the familiar number, she turned off the stove and moved the pan to another side of the stove.

"Ah yes, hello, I'd like to order two medium pizza, one pepperoni and the other ham." She said into her phone, "Hand tossed." She responded to the question she had been asked.

"It'll be delivery."  She aimlessly scratched her cheek as she proceeded to give her address, "Thank you."

After she ended the call, she decided to wait in the living room after having gone to find her wallet and get the exact amount for the pizzas, plus an additional amount as a tip.

As she sat on the sofa, she scrolled through her phone looking for anything to read.  Once she had settled on a webnovel, the doorbell rang.

Quickly setting her phone onto the sofa, she headed to the door and opened it after looking through the peep hole on the door.

"Two medium pizza, pepperoni and ham?" The young man said as he pulled out the pizza from his bag and handed them to her.

As she reached for them with one hand, she handed the money to him with the other, "Thank you." She thanked him as she then closed the door.

Taking a deep breath, the scent of the pizza made her stomach growl, "I'm so hungry." She said as she made her way back to the kitchen.

Setting the pizza boxes on the kitchen table, she went to get a plate from the drawers, and a glass of water.

Getting a slice of each pizza she sat at the table and happily ate.  It was when she was on her second slice of pizza when the doorbell rang again.

Her eyebrows knit in confusion.  She looked up at the clock in the kitchen, it was already eight at night.  She wasn't expecting anyone this late, she didn't order anything else, her parents each had a key to the house.  And if it was someone else, they would have called her to say they were coming over.

Cleaning her fingers with a paper towel, she got up from her chair and made her way to the door after getting her phone from the sofa.  Once at the door the bell rung again.

Standing on the tips of her toes, she looked through the peephole to get a better look at who it was.  A figure.

The person on the other side of the door was covered completely.  Dark hoodie, low down covering half their face.

Quickly she back away from the door after making sure it was locked.  She would have pretended not to be home, but the sound of the t.v could be heard.  If she turned it off, that person would know that she was nearby.

Some may call her paranoid or maybe even stupid for thinking such things, but she had seen too many crime shows and documentaries.  She had seen how many people stupidly opened the door without checking.  And she wasn't planning to be one of those people, she would rather be safe than sorry.

Trying not to make a sound, she moved further away from the door, and went to the back door.  She couldn't remember if it was locked or not.

As she sped walked to the back door, she pulled out her phone ready to dial 911.

The door wasn't locked.  Her heart began to beat faster at this, and even more so when she saw a figure walk by the window.

By this time, she was sure that this was no ordinary person.  Any other person would have left by now or would have called out saying who they were.  They definitely wouldn't be walking to the backdoor.

She dialed 911.

"911 what's your emergency." The voice vibrated into her ear.

Sam quickly ran to the door and locked it, "There's someone at my house.  I thought it was just someone who I didn't know.  But they're or someone else is at my backdoor!" She whispered out as she made her way back further into the house and headed to her room.

She closed and looked her room door and quickly hid in her closet after shutting off the lights in her room.

"What's your name?"

Sam took in a shaky breath, "Sam.... Samantha Beltner."

"Okay Samantha, what is your address?"

Sam quickly told her address in a hushed voice as she hid behind her hanging clothes, "I'm in my closet in my room.  Please hurry."

"Were you able to see the person at your door?"

"No, I could only...." The sound of shattering glass could be heard and stopped her words from coming out of her mouth.  She held her breath as she listened.

The voice of the operator sounded further away than it was, as she listened for any other noise in the house.

Footsteps.

Her blood ran cold, "PLEASE HURRY.  THEY'RE IN MY HOUSE!" She whispered out as tears streamed down her cheeks, "I just heard glass break and can hear footsteps.  Please hurry."

"Please calm down, help is on the way.  I want you to stay as quiet as possible and just listen to my voice.  Can you do that for me." 

Sam nodded as she responded back in a quieter voice, "Yes."

"Take a deep breath and move to the farthest corner of your closet.  And I want you to count along with me as quiet as you can or in your mind."

"1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20."  The voice calmly said, "Help is near your location."

Sam felt relief bloom in her heart as she heard those words, but that was short lived, as the footsteps stopped in front of her door.

Her lips trembled as her mouth went dry, "They're at my bedroom door." She barely whispered out.

"Ma'am, please stay quiet and try to calm down.  Help is on the way."

 Sam balled her hand into a fist and placed it near her lips to stop any sounds from coming out as she silently cried.

She tightly shut her eyes as the doorhandle to her door began to move and make a sound.

'Please help me.  God, if you're listening, please help me!' She cried in her heart as she began to pray in her mind.

That's all she could do, to pray as she cried.

The sound at her door handle stopped, she wasn't sure of that.  Her heartbeat in her ears was all that she could hear at the moment, everything else seemed to have been muted out from the wooshing sound in her ears.

Her body shook as she opened her eyes looking into the darkness of her closet.  She took in shaky breaths trying to calm herself.

She was scared.  Scared would be an understatement, she was terrified.

Her chest and lungs hurt from the fear and from how much she was breathing.  Her muscles hurt even more now from how much she was shaking.

Her grip on her phone tightened as if it were her only rope of survival, her only form of comfort.

But that small comfort was shattered just as the glass had.

A banging at her door could be heard, and then the crunching of her door breaking was heard.

At each bang and crunch that she heard, it felt as if her heart was the one being torn apart.

Even though she had been told that help was on the way, it seemed like time had stopped and everything was moving in slow motion.  Everything except the person at her bedroom door.

~Elsewhere~

She could hear the sound of the young woman's breathing hitch, and the sound of banging.

Looking at her monitor for updates of the officers and EMT to the location of her house, she could see they were very close, but she wasn't sure if they would be there on time.

A gasp was heard as a loud bang and the thud of something hard could be heard hitting the ground.

"Ma'am...." Her voice was cut short as she soon heard screaming.  A bone chilling scream that soon followed with the sound of the phone being dropped.

It hurt to breathe.  With each breath, it felt as if her chest was on fire, she knew that was either going to be killed at once or tortured until she bled out from her wound on her chest.  Aside from the pain, her skin felt dirty.

Faintly listening to the tearing of her clothes, she wished for her own death.

With one final burst of strength, she clenched her hands into a fist, and as hard and fast as she could she punched the person trying to violate her.

A grunt was heard as the person pulled their hands away for a few seconds.  But that was all she needed.  Those few seconds were her only chance to get away.

As fast as she could she pushed the person away and got up with strength and speed she didn't even know she was capable of.

She could hardly see in the dark room, but the faint light of the moon was enough for her to see the fallen door and the only way out to her freedom and salvation.

Just as she reached the entrance to the bedroom, a loud sound resounded in the room.

After the sound, Sam felt a searing pain spread in her back.  Another sound came as well with more pain that went from her back all the way to her chest.

Sam fell to her knees and collapsed face forward to the ground, inches away from the entrance of the room.

"Shit." The person cursed out as the faint sound of the sirens could be heard.  She could hear heavy footsteps run across the room and over her still form on the ground and run down the hallway.

At the sound of the person leaving, or rather trying to leave since she could hear the voices of the officers yelling at him.  She cried.

She cried in relief and pain.  But she knew that she was dying.  But she hoped with all her being that she could live.  Live to see another day.  Live to see her family.

From the pain she knew that the second shot had pierced her lung.  The wound she had previously gotten first had been at her chest when the person stabbed her.

She was bleeding out.  A warm wetness was spreading all the way to her neck and cheek as she laid on the ground in labored breaths.

'Mom.... Dad....' She thought as she cried.  She was sad, her heart ached at the thought of her parents.  Parents who were about to lose their only child.

Footsteps could be heard running up the stairs, and soon after hands were on her, pressing on her wounds.

Muffled voices were all she heard as she slowly started to become numb to the pain.

She was dying, that she was sure of now.  It was a terrifying feeling, painful, sad and she felt so lonely.

She wasn't able to see her family and friends.

All she could see were the knees and feet of unknown people right before her death.

She gasped out as she took her final breath.

This first chapter got too intense.  I think this is the first time I ever started a chapter like this.

The reason I put someone breaking into her house was because while I was trying to think of how to give her end, I thought of what had happened to my mom, sister and I a few years ago.

I think it was about or almost ten years ago.  My dad had recently cut down a tree that was beside the house, since one of the large branches on top had fallen onto the house, and on the fence.  This tree was part of a large tree that half was on our side and the other part of it was on the neighbors.  My dad had told the neighbor that he would cut it down for him if he paid my dad for the expense for his side.

He didn't want to.  So, he only cut our side.  Anyways, we had a lot of tree branches and logs in the yard since it was a very big tree.  One night my dad wasn't home, so it was just my mom, sister and me.  My mom was sleeping in the same room as my sister and me since the room was by the room facing the street, so she could keep watch for when my dad came.

I didn't know what had happened, until I woke up to light shining on my face.  I opened my eyes and saw the lights from the police cars.  All remaining sleep I had was gone in seconds.  I got up and ran to the living room and found my sister and mom there.

I asked what had happened and they told me that someone had knocked at the door, it was early morning, like one in the morning or so.  My mom got up thinking it was my dad, but she wasn't sure since she didn't see the car.  So, when she got to the door, she called out asking who it was.

The other person who answered was clearly not my dad.  It was some man asking to come in.  After my mom said no, that man said that he was a friend of my dad and that he needed to use the phone.  With this arguing back and forth, my sister got up and she called the police.

The man, after being told that they had called the police, he left.  When the police came, they knocked at the door and said who they were.  After talking for a bit, they asked if my mom or sister had opened the door.  When they said no, the officer said that was a good decision.  They told my mom to close and lock the door again as they searched the garage, yard and even the alley and block around the house to make sure he wasn't near.

They never found him, but we did find out that around that time or so, some guy had beat someone.  Don't know if that's true, but yeah.

My mom was so mad at my dad, telling him what would have happened if they opened the door with him not being there.

ANYWAYS, what did you guys' think about this first chapter?
