32| Shape Shifted
I watched as the sun began to set and the fact the we were being kept in detention for so long, that Stiles still continued to tap his pencil angrily on his desk, Issac was still locked up, and that the full moon was rising really wasn't helpful in keeping my anger under control.
Setting my head on the desk in defeat I felt as Stiles patted my shoulder in an attempt to comfort me, but it really wasn't helping.
"Hand off Stilinski." I muttered in annoyance.
"Wow you used my last name. Am I in trouble?" He whispered, and although I still had may head down I knew he was smiling.
"Do I have to remind you that it's your fault that were stuck in this mess?" I questioned in disbelief.
"Quiet you two." Harris declared from the front of the class. I looked up just as he was checking his watch, and I could feel that he was just as annoyed as we were. "Okay you two leave."
Stiles didn't have to be told twice as he immediately gathered his things and stood up. I did the same but apparently I was taking to long as Stiles grabbed my hand and began pulling me out the class. We stopped to grab our phones and once we were out of the classroom I pulled my hand back to check all the messages and missed calls I had on my phone. I had some messages from Derek, but over ten missed calls from Allison.
"Did Allison blow up your phone with calls too?" Stiles asked as we finally got out of the school and into the cold night air.
"Yeah, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out why." I replied as we began to cross the parking lot towards the only car parked there.
"I'm going to call her back." He told be as he put the phone on speaker, holding it between the two of us.
And it only took a couple of rings before she finally answered. "Guys I've been calling you like crazy!"
"Sorry, Harris literally just let us out of detention. Literally." Stiles told her bitterly. "And he had our phones the whole frickin' time."
"Well, we need to do something right now. They were asking me all these questions about Lydia and how she was bitten by Peter, and then they sent this guy out." Allison informed us quickly, her voice taking on a frantic tone.
"Wait, what guy?" Stiles asked as we stopped in front of the Jeep to listen closely to the call.
"He was dressed as a Sherriff's deputy. They're sending him to the station for Isaac. He was also carrying this box with something on it, like, um, like a carving or something."
I grabbed Stiles' wrist pulling the phone closer to me hoping that she wasn't referring to what I thought they could be planning. "What was it?"
"Hold on, hold on. It's in one of these books. I'm taking a picture." Allison told us, as suddenly a message appeared on Stiles' phone. He opened it to reveal a picture of wolfsbane, and we immediately looked at each other in worry. "Did you get it?"
"Yeah, wolfsbane." Stiles told her letting out a defeated sigh.
"What does that mean?"
"It means they're gonna kill him." I stated as I realized that we were running out of time. I couldn't let Issac pay for my brother's mistakes, even if it was Issac's stupidity that agreed to getting turned into a werewolf in the first place. As many reason that I was annoyed with him, that bond wouldn't allow me to let him get hurt. I knew that Derek had to have a plan of his own to get Issac out, and I was in no mood in beginning a conversation that I knew would end up with us arguing.
But we had no other choice we needed Derek.
"Hey, did you slow him down?" Stiles asked once Alison picked up the phone. We were now speeding down the road trying to get to Derek as quickly as possible before it was too late for Issac. My heart was beginning to beat rapidly in my chest, and I couldn't shake the feeling that this was going to end terribly.
"You could say that." She replied, and I could only assume that she did something that put her archery skills to the test.
"All right, well, uh, I'm headed to the station right now. Where's Scott?"
"Isaac's."
"Does he have a plan?" I asked her referring to how Scott was planning to control himself once the full moon came into effect. I knew that a part of Scott still refused to accept this new reality of his but he had to do it sooner rather than later. The longer it takes for him to accept who he is the longer it will take for him to learn how to take full control over his abilities. And he was still struggling during the full moon, at this point her should have already learned complete control.
"Yeah, but not a very good one. And unfortunately we don't really have time to come up with anything better." Allison told us, and at this point I truly wasn't surprised. Scott didn't have a track record of coming up with the best plans.
The Jeep came to a stop in front of the loft as we waited for Derek to come out. I hadn't seen my brother since last night and although I was still angry at him I knew I couldn't stay mad at him for long.
"This is where you and Derek live?" Stiles asked me as he looked out the window and up the large building.
"Yeah, and?" I replied as I looked over at him.
Stiles shrugged as he fell back into the seat. "Well you've never told us where you live. You know that we've been through a lot together as so much of you is still a big question mark."
"Do you always have to know everything?" I questioned, and he opened his mouth to say something but he seemed to rethink it as he closed his mouth and leaned back against his seat. Whatever he wanted to say he knew would make me upset, and I had to appreciate the fact that at least in moments like this he knew when to keep his mouth shut.
We waited in silence until I saw Derek walking over to us. I moved to the back seat as Derek opened the door. "Let's go. We're running out of time." Derek ordered as Stiles started up the car.
"We wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for you." I reminded him letting my anger towards my brother get the best of me.
"Are we really going to get into this same discussion again?" Derek asked as he turned around to face me, but I knew that this definitely wasn't the time for this so I decided to ignore him.
The rest of the drive was complete silence, and Stiles knew better than to say anything when he had two angry werwolves riding with him in his car. Parking in front of the police station, Stiles turned off the Jeep as he turned around to face my brother and I.
"Okay, now the keys to every cell are in a password protected lockbox in my father's office." Stiles explained. "The problem is getting past the front desk."
"I'll distract her." Derek declared as he attempted to open the car door.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa...you? You're not going in there." Stiles told him as he pulled my brother by his jacket forcing him to sit back down. Derek looked at where Stiles' currently had his hand before looking up to glare at him with anger. "I'm taking my hand off." Stiles immediately assured him as he retracted his hand.
Satisfied Derek looked back at stiles with irritation. "I was exonerated."
"You're still a person of interest."
"An innocent person." Derek reminded him.
Seeing that Derek and Stiles would have continued arguing I decided to step up. "What's your plan?"
"To distract her." My brother replied sarcastically forcing me to roll my eyes.
"Uh...huh. How? By punching her in the face?" Stiles asked with his usual amount of sarcasm.
"By talking to her." Derek stated as a mocking smile came across his face.
"Okay, all right. Give me a sample. What are you gonna open with?" Stiles challenged as Derek just looked between Stiles and I in annoyance. It was clear that my brother really wasn't in the mood to be challenged this way. "Dead silence. That should work beautifully. Any other ideas?"
Derek smirked as he looked over at Stiles. "I'm thinking about punching you in the face."
Without another word Derek stepped out of the car, Stiles and I shared a panicked look as we rushed out of the car to catch up to him. Derek walked inside the station as Stiles and I stayed behind watching from the back of the door.
"Good evening, how can I help...you?" The woman who was at the front desk asked as she looked my brother up and down, a small smile tugging at her lips. I felt my eyes widen in shock, and I truly couldn't believe what I was seeing, it almost made me want to vomit as I realized what direction their conversation was going.
"Hi. Um, I had a question. Um, sorry I'm a little...a little thrown." Derek replied as a smile also came across his face. "I wasn't really expecting someone..."
"Like me?" The woman replied clearly flirting with my brother.
"Oh, I was gonna say so incredibly beautiful but, yeah, I guess that'd be the same thing."
"Gross." I muttered in disgust at the sight of my brother flirting, something that I would have never thought I would witness. Stiles tugged at my sleeve before grabbing my hand and leading me around the front desk. We stopped in front of the sheriff's office as Stiles opened the door, but the sound of growling caught my attention.
"I'm going to go check on Issac." I told Stiles and he nodded as I walked down the hall following the sound of the growling. Opening the door that led into all the jail cells I saw Issac pacing back and forth. He looked up at me walking over to the bars that were separating us as his eyes glowed yellow. I could see the relief in his eyes when he saw me, but I could see how much he was suffering to stay in control. "We're going to get you out of here."
I looked at the lock, and sighed knowing that Stiles still had to get the keys from his father's office. For a moment I considered crushing the lock but a groan from Stiles caused me to run out into the hallway without a second though to where Stiles was struggling against a man dressed in a deputies uniform.
It wasn't until the smell of blood hit me that I looked down at the man's leg that was bleeding from a wound caused by an arrow.
"Step back or he's dead." The hunter warned as he held a gun to Stiles' head as the other one held onto him tightly. Seeing that I had no other choice I nodded as I slowly stepped back as we reached the door the led into the jail cells. As I moved backwards I noticed the fire alarm at the side of the wall and immediately pulled it.
The hunter immediately let go of Stiles and pushed me against the wall as he ran inside the room where Issac was being kept. Stiles and I immediately got to our feet just in time to witness Issac throwing the hunter into a desk, the impact knocking the man unconscious. A needle full of wolfsbane fell at our feet and I used the heal of my boot to crush it, the powerful scent from the plant filling the room. It caused my lungs to feel like they were burning but I couldn't risk something so generous getting in the wrong hands again.
Issac turned to us in his full werewolf form causing Stiles to immediately stumble down onto the floor. He attempted to pull me down with him, but I stood my ground as I gave Issac a warning growl.
He ignored me as he attempted to get to Stiles, and I shifted ready to get into a fight as I pushed Issac away. I really didn't want to fight him knowing that he wasn't himself and that the only reason that he was in this position was because of my brother.
A loud growl was heard throughout the room immediately causing me to shift back as I fell to the floor. A whimper escaped my lips as Issac backed into the corner of the to room, shaking uncontrollably. Through the need to obey I felt anger rush through me at the realization of what Derek had done. Forcing the both of us to submit. This was more than just getting Issac under control, he was trying to prove a point to me.
Remind me that he was the one in power.
"How did you do that?" Stiles asked as he looked at Derek in disbelief.
"I'm the Alpha."
Stiles walked over to me helping me to my feet but I couldn't even look at my brother as I walked past him and headed out of the police station. Stiles remained silent until we were finally outside, but I could see the question on his face.
"Are you okay?" He finally questioned, and I could see the concern in his eyes.
"I'm fine." I lied. A lie that he could see through, but Stiles knew better than to try to push the subject any further.
