I looked around the empty boy's locker room unsure of what Stiles could possible need from here. "What are we doing here?"

"I just need to get something." He muttered as he headed into Coach's office. "Keep watch."

I sighed as I crossed my arms over my chest as I waited outside of the office, feeling absolutely ridiculous. From behind me Stiles waved a heart monitor in my face as I snatched it away. "You realize you just stole this, right?"

"Temporarily misappropriated." He attempted to correct as he took the device back. "Come on."

Without another word I followed him to the lacrosse field where Scott was already waiting nervously near the bleachers. Stiles handed Scott the monitor as he dropped his duffle bag on the ground. "Okay. Now Put this on."

"Isn't this one of the heart rate monitors for the track team?" Scott asked as he took a closer look at the device before Stiles ripped it out of his grasp. Although he was talking to Scott I could still feel the slight resentment that Stiles still felt for him. I was sure Scott could feel it too as he was clearly trying to remain on Stiles' good side.

"Yeah, I borrowed it."

"Stole it." Scott corrected.

"Told you." I quickly said to Stiles as he rolled his eyes in irritation.

"Temporarily misappropriated." He repeated. "Coach uses it to monitor his heart rate with his phone while he jogs, and you're gonna wear it for the rest of the day."

Stiles continued to take equipment out of his duffle bag, he then pulled out a phone and set it on the bench. Scott picked up the phone this time looking truly shocked."Isn't that Coach's phone?"

"That, I stole." Stiles admitted.

"Why?"

"AII right, well, your heart rate goes up when you go wolf, right? When you're playing Iacrosse, when you're with AIIison, whenever you get angry." Stiles began to explain as he picked up his lacrosse stick. "Maybe Iearning to control it is tied to Iearning to control your heart rate."

"Like The Incredible Hulk." Scott commented with a smile.

"Kind of Iike The Incredible Hulk, yeah."

"No, I'm Iike The Incredible Hulk." Scott repeated, I took the monitor from Stiles and shoved it at Scott's chest annoyed with their banter.

"Shut up and put the thing on." I told him as I began to walk into the field. "Now how about we get this over with?"

"Will you ever not be so mean?" Scott asked as he strapped the heart monitor on himself.

I turned back to him as Stiles began to tap Scott's hand behind his back. "Maybe when you start taking this seriously."

"She's got a point." Stiles agreed as he took a couple of steps back picking up his across stick. "AII right. You ready?"

"No." Scott replied before a lacrosse ball hit him in the chest causing him to bend over in pain.

"Remember, don't get angry." Stiles told him picking up another ball with the stick before trowing it at Scott's direction.

"I'm starting to think this was a really bad idea." Scott mumbled as Stiles continued to trow the balls at him. From where I was standing I could already hear his heart beat rising rapidly along with his continuous grans of pain. I still wasn't sure what Stiles' plan was other than possibly finding a way to get some revenge on Scott. "Oh! Okay, that one kind of hurt."

"Quiet." Stiles scolded but he was clearly enjoying this. "Remember, you're supposed to be thinking about your heart rate, all right? About staying calm."

"Stay calm. Staying calm. Staying totally calm. There's no balls flying at my face." Scott continued to mumble to himself, and I had to admit watching this was beginning to become amusing. My eyes widened as a ball hit him in the stomach causing him to bend over in pain. "Son of a bitch!"

"You know what? I think my aim is actually improving." Stiles commented as he looked at his across stick with pride.

"Wonder why." Scott replied with gritted teeth.

"Ah, buh, buh. Don't get angry."

"I'm not getting angry." Scott told himself as before another ball made contact with his face causing him to fall over on his knees.

"Stiles stop." I quickly told him not knowing how much of their Scott could actually take anymore. "Just wait."

I walked over to stand next to Stiles as Scott was bent over on the floor groaning attempting to control his shift. He began to desperately grip onto the grass clearly in pain as he attempted to fight it off. "Scott?" Stiles asked taking a step closer but I reached out to stop him not knowing if Scott would actually be able to keep it under control.

"Wait." I said as I began to hear Scott's heart beat slow down. Scott took a couple of deep breaths before looking up at us and his eyes shifted back to their natural brown.

"Scott, you started to change." Stiles told him.

"From anger. But it was more than that. It was Iike, the angrier I got, the stronger I felt." Scott explained what he should have realized a long time ago.

"So it is anger, then. Derek's right." Stiles admitted as he let the lacrosse stick slip out of his hand.

"I can't be around AIIison." Scott stated still trying to keep his breathing under control as he slowly stood up from the ground.

"Just because she makes you happy?" Stiles asked in disbelief.

"No, because she makes me weak."

I sighed as I looked between Scott and Stiles who both seemed deeply troubled by the realization. "You two are so dramatic."

The fact that Coach Finnstock was not only the coach of the lacrosse team but also the history and economics teacher said a lot about how small Beacon Hills High School was. Scott was still in a sour mood knowing that he couldn't be around his girlfriend, and although I wasn't someone who tended to be in a good mood themselves his anger only dampened my mood more.

If there was one thing that i hated about being a werewolf was our ability to sense others emotions. There was nothing worse than feeling other people's pain and misery.

"Let's go. Sit, sit, sit, sit." Coach Finnstock urged as the everyone entered the classroom. Although I hight preferred Finnstock over Harris the man always seemed that he functioned on energy drinks alone. "We got a Iot to cover today. Let's go. Quicker!"

The three of us began to walk to out usual seats before Scott touched the desk behind his. "Hey, Stiles, sit behind me, dude."

Before Stiles even had a chance to take a step forward, Allison pointedly placed put her textbook on the desk's surface before taking a seat. Stiles looked shocked as he then took his usual seat at Scott's side. A Scott who seemed to desire for the ground to open up and swallow him whole than to be so close to Allison.

"Hey." Allison whispered to Scott leaning closer to him.

"Hey." Scott replied awkwardly as he looked over to Stiles and I with pleading eyes as if there was anything that we could do to help him now.

"God this is so painful to watch." Stiles muttered and I couldn't disagree with him. It really was painful watching the scene unfold.

I turned around to face Stiles so see him trying to listen to Scott and Allison's conversation. "You two are so pathetic."

"Hey." Stiles said defensively as he turned to face me. "Lately our status as the school losers has been bumped up a bit since Scott and I began to hang around you and Allison. And I'm only a nerd by association. I've been scarlet nerded by Scott."

I looked at him for a second to take in all his ramblings in disbelief that he was an actual human being. Because no human being could possibly be so annoying. Rolling my eyes I turned back towards the front of the class where Coach was till struggling to get everyone in their seats.

"Let's settle down." Coach exclaimed as the last of the class took their seats. "Let's start with a quick summary of Iast night's reading. Greenberg, put your hand down. Everybody knows you did the reading." He said with obvious annoyance as he continued his search around the class. "How about, uh McCall."

Scott's head shot up in surprise as he looked around with wide eyes clearly having not paid attention up until this moment. "What?"

"The reading." Coach Finnstock repeated.

Scott's heart immediately began to beast faster as he realized that all eyes were on him now. "Last night's reading?"

"How about the reading of The Gettysburg Address?" Coach countered sarcastically causing laughter from most of the class.

"What?"

"That's sarcasm. You familiar with the term sarcasm, McCall?"

"Very." Scott mumbled in annoyance as he he looked over his shoulder at Stiles who only smiled back.

Coach was visible getting irritated at Scott as he walked over to stand in front of his desk. Not only was Scott incredibly unreliable when it came to lacrosse practice but he was also failing this class, there was no way that Finnstock could be anything other than annoyed. "Did you do the reading or not?"

"Um...I think I forgot."

"Nice work, McCall. It's not Iike you're not averaging a 'D' in this class. Come on, buddy. You know I can't keep you on the team if you have a D." Couch continued to embarrass Scott, his heart beat  continuing to rise. Stiles tapped my shoulder and I turned around as he showed me the heart monitor that was showing that Scott's heart beat was rising. "How about you summarize the previous night's reading? No? How about the night before that? How about you summarize anything you've ever read in your entire Iife?" Coach continued to exclaim as Scott put his head down and from where I was sitting I should see his hands forming fists.

Scott looked down the book in front of his desk, everyone in the room was quiet now intently watching the scene unfold in front of them. "I....ugh."

Worry slowly began to creep in realizing that if coach continued Scott would undoubtedly lose control and shift in front of the entire class. In from of Allison, who's family had dedicated their lives to killing us.

"No? A blog? How about How about the back of a cereal box? No? How about the adults-only warning from your favorite website you visit every night? Anything? Thank you, McCall, thank you. Thank you, McCall! Thank you for extinguishing any Iast flicker of hope I have for your generation." He yelled in frustration he began to walk back to his desk. I could still hear the rapid beating of Scott's heart until it suddenly began to slow down. "You just blew it for everybody. Thanks. Next practice you can start with suicide runs. Unless that's too much reading. AII right. Everybody else, settle down."

I looked over at Scott confused about what could have caused his heart beat to get back to its steady pace. That was when I noticed that Allison was now holding his hand under the desk. Turning around I saw that Stiles noticed it too as he met my eyes in surprise. She brought him back. I didn't think that we could even find an anchor in a person, my whole life Derek had always said that our anger was our anchor.

But maybe he was wrong.

The bell rang and we all got out of our seats eager to get out of this class. "It's her." Stiles stated as we exited the classroom. a hint of excitement in his voice.

Scott looked between the two of us in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"It's AIIison." I clarified.

"Remember what you told me about the night of the full moon?" Stiles continued to explain as we walked we stopped. "You were thinking about her, right? About protecting her."

"Okay." Scott said still not understanding causing Stiles to roll his eyes.

"Remember the night of the first Iacrosse game? You said you could hear her voice out on the field."

"Yeah, I did."

"Well, so that's what brought you back so you could score. And then after the game in the Iocker room, you didn't kill her. At Ieast not Iike how you were trying to kill me. She brings you back, is what I'm saying."

"No, no, no, but it's not always true, because Iiterally every time I'm kissing her or touching her..."

"No, that's not the same." I quickly told him before he decided to give any more details. Knowing that the direction he was headed was just a result of hormones by a teenage boy and not the fact that he was a werewolf.

"When you're doing that, you're just another hormonal teenager thinking about sex, you know?" Stiles asked as Scott completely zoned off with a smile forming on his face. "You're thinking about sex right now, aren't you?"

"Yeah. Sorry " Scott mumbled looking down as we continued to walk down the hallway.

"Back in the classroom when she was holding your hand, that was different." I continued to explain since this conversation was going absolutely nowhere. "I don't think she makes you weak. She actually gives you control. She's your anchor."

"You mean because I Iove her." Scott replied casually. I raised an eyebrow at his words, love being a word that he had never used before when talking about Allison.

"Exactly." Stiles continued as he held onto the strap of his backpack.

"Did I just say that?" Scott asked as he suddenly came to a stopping the middle of the hallway.

"Yes, you just said that."

"I Iove her."

"That's great." I told him in annoyance. "Now back to what's really important here."

"No, no, no, really." Scott continued the smile on his face growing wider. "I think I'm totally in Iove with her."

"And that's beautiful. Now, before you go off and write a sonnet, can we figure this out, please?" Stiles replied with his usual level of sarcasm. Sarcasm that for once I appreciated as I had no desire to continue to listen to Scott talk about how in love he was. "Because you obviously can't be around her all the time."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry. So what do I do?"

"I don't know. Yet."

Stiles suddenly looked up at us his eyes widening in realization. "Oh, no. You're getting an idea, aren't you?" Scott asked clearly worried.

"Yeah."

"Is this idea gonna get me in trouble?"

"Maybe." Stiles admitted.

"Is this idea gonna cause me physical pain?"

"Yeah, definitely. Come on." He told us as they began to walk away.

"Although I like the idea of Scott being in pain, count me out." I told them as I began to walk away in the other direction, only to have Stiles quickly grab onto my arm. "What?"

"You're coming too. You are way to involved in this to back out now." Scott said as they both looked at me expectantly. Pursing my lips together in irritation I realized that he was right. I was too involved in all of this, with them. "Anyways you should probably be there in case this goes wrong."

My eyes widened hearing his words and knowing that he was undoubtedly planning on doing something stupid. "What is that supposed to mean?"

Stiles didn't say anything as he and Scott began to walk towards the school exit. I watched them go for a moment feeling truly conflicted about what I should do. As much as I wanted to turn the other way and not be involved in one of Stiles' ridiculous plans my curiosity got the best of me. With a groan I followed after Scott and Stiles.
