Our Best

"Izuku! Congratulations!" I jogged up towards Midoriya, who was looking at the crowd until he noticed me next to him.

"A-ah, thanks...! But... I saw you slow down. You could have won, but you let me...Why?" He mumbled, eyes holding guilt and confusion as I merely smiled on.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I'm clearly giving my all here." 

-x- Third Person View -x- 

"Again! Dammit!! That little..." The ash blonde cursed, his eyes glaring towards the ground below as heavy pants came from his mouth, sweat rolling down his forehead.

"..." However, the bi-coloured male next to him remained silent, simply staring forward at a certain smiling female classmate who stood by the green haired winner.

"That was awesome, Deku!" The brunette, Ochaco Uraraka exclaimed, eyes shining as she approached the two.

"Uraraka. Iida." The greenette, Izuku Midoriya called, seeing the blue haired male also following behind her with a crestfallen expression.

"To lose a race, of all things, with my quirk... It's clear I still have progress to make!" Tenya Iida realised, his face turning into one of determination as he looked forward.

"All of us will giving our best here, Iida-kun! Let's try hard yeah?" Shiro Kurayami, stood next to the bluenette with a smile, the latter nodding along with her statement.

"So it's finally over! Let's check out the results!" The R-Rated hero, Midnight called, a screen showing the placings of the race as everyone looked at it.

"The top forty-two of the qualifiers will move on! Those who placed lower don't worry, we've got another way for you to show your stuff!" The Chief Referee Pro Hero announced, the dismayed looks of the lower placing students returning to their stands as the remainder stayed back.

"And now the main selection really beings! The Press Corps' going to be jumping out of their seats, so give it all you've got!" She continued, the screen behind going black for while as all the students waited in anticipation.

"Now onto the second event! I already know what it is of course. Next up is a Human Calvary Battle!" Bold letters showed up on the monitor, Midnight the proceeding to explain the rules of the game as the students slowly got the gist of everything.

"Our first place participant is worth Ten Million Points!" With that being said, all the heads of the contestants then turned towards the green haired boy, his eyes sunken and sweat rolling down the sides of his head from all the preying eyes.

'Poor Izuku... Wait, so that means I've got... 205?' I thought, looking at Midoriya with pitiful eyes as I shook my head, look through the different students that made it through.

"Okay, so we have to form a team and gather enough points in order to make it to the next event... I better find a few exceptionally cooperative and reasonable students to work with then." I muttered, my eyes scanning the students who decided to work with their own classmates and avoided Midoriya as much as possible.

Seeing that most of my classmates had already formed their teams, I sighed in defeat. Well that is until I saw a group of students who were one person short, making me walk up to them.

As soon as I got closer to them, they had turned their head towards me, confused expressions on their faces as they stared at my approaching figure.

"H-Hi...! I'm Shiro Kurayami from 1-A. You guys are from 1-B, right?" I introduced, smiling nervouly at them as the one with the silver hair spoke first.

"Hah? What's a 1-A student here for?!" He exclaimed, eyes glaring at me as the other one with vine-like hair came with a warm smile.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Kurayami-san. My name is Ibara Shiozaki, might I ask are you here to join our team?" She asked, a light seemingly shining down on her as I laughed nervously, nodding at her question.

"A-ah yeah. I hope you guess'll accept my offer. My points might come helpful to you guys..." I said, seeing the guy still not satisfied about me being here.

"Ah, yes! Thank you for your help Kurayami-san! Let's get along from now on!" Shiozaki smiled, making me smile back as I nod along, looking back to the guy before.

"I'm sorry about Bakugo from before. Not all of us are like that, it's just him. I hope you can forgive his attitude." I apologised, bowing my head slightly as his eyes widened before looking away, pink slowly crawling up his cheeks.

"F-fine! I-I'll let it pass, just th-this once! Just so you know, the name's Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu and remember that!" He exclaimed, turning back with a grin, making me smile.

"Right! Let's do our best here! Tetsu, Shiozaki, and..." Looking at the last guy who had kept silent this whole time, he then blinks.

"Juzo Honenuki." He simply answered, giving my hand a firm shake as all of us started to plan our path to victory.

"What?! You don't have a quirk?!" Tetsutetsu exclaimed, his shock evident from his wide eyes and open mouth, myself chuckling nervously.

"Sorry I left that part out... I just thought that it wouldn't matter as long as we have teamwork..." I confessed, feeling guilt bubbling in me as I realise how useless I could be to them.

"Not having a Quirk but still being able to make it this far... Such determination..." Honenuki muttered, his voice low and soft as he stared at me, eyes holding amazement and admiration.

"A-ah... That's too much... It's just luck on my part..." I stammered, my hands suddenly grasped by Shiozaki who smiled at me warmly.

"Nonsense, Kurayami-san! I believe that with your own sheer hard work and ability alone, we can continue our path to victory!" She encouraged, making a blush crawl up my face as I heard her kind words.

"Thank you, Shiozaki-san... Tetsutetsu-san, I might have a plan formed for this event." I claimed, confidence finding its way in me as Tetsutetsu looking at me confused.

"Formed your teams?! Made your plans?! Well, too bad if you haven't! Here we go, the countdown to this brutal Battle Royale!" Present Mic exclaimed, the crowds cheering in excitement as all the teams got into their positions.

"You guys ready?! I hope your plan goes, Kurayami-san!" Tetsutetsu said, the headband wrapped around his forehead showing our total scores in bold outlined letters.

"Trust me on this, Tetsutetsu-san!" I said, holding his left side while Shiozaki held his right, Honenuki being the front.

(A/N: I apologise deeply for Awase's disappearance, let's just say he went and joined another team. I love him but I had to, sorry!)

"Forward!" With that, all of us ran, the other teams already starting to steal points and such as we dodge any Quirks heading our way.

"Shiozaki-san! It's time!" I called, her nodding as she activated her Quirk, the green vine like hair growing out and heading towards the other nearby teams.

"This.. This is a wrong I have done..." Shiozaki wallowed, stealing the headbands off of the other contestants as we continue to run around and avoid any prying hands.

Looking over my shoulder, I spot a few teams trying to catch up to us, their arms stretched out to grasp at the ends of our points.

"Honenuki-san! You're up! Two teams advancing from behind and fast!" I alerted, him nodding as he stomped his foot onto the ground beneath, yells of shock suddenly coming from behind us as I grinned.

Looking behind us once more, I see the two teams that were on our tails stuck into the ground, their feet trying to escape from the sunken earth but to no prevail.

"Sharp turn left!" Tetsutetsu commanded, the three of us hurriedly turning, barely avoiding a sudden explosion from the front, the attacker being Bakugo and his team.

"That was a close one..." I sighed in relief, looking up at Tetsutetsu who still held our points around his forehead, a few others around his neck.

"Midoriya's open!" Tetsutetsu yelled, commanding us to go forward as we complied, getting him near enough to be able to reach for the points.

"Almost got t-what?!" Suddenly, the bandanna around Tetsutetsu's forehead containing our original points being grazed slightly by a long tongue.

"Tsuyu...!" I gritted my teeth, looking forward to see her formed a team with Shoji and Mineta -which was very shocking to me- as they peer out from the gap made by Shoji's arms.

"Be careful, Tetsutetsu-san!" I was cautious of our placings, we were currently somewhat safe with our points right now, but we'd need to hold our ground or else everything would be to waste.

"Let's go after the lower points for now! Might be safer!" Honenuki suggested, seeing how most of them were grouping to go after higher points.

"Right!" Nodding, all of us set off to pass through the teams from behind, stealing their points without them noticing.

"Kaminari!" A sudden call alerted me, me snapping my head towards where the call was to see Todoroki's team, Kaminari with a grin as sparks flew around him.

"Oh, no." Eye widened, I patted Tetsutetsu to alert him, when he saw what I was pointing at, his eyes too grew in shock ad dread.

"Indiscriminate Shock 1.3 Millions Volts!" Before we had the chance to run further away from the attack, a wave of electricity overcame us, paralysing us to the ground as a coat of ice swept across our feet, fully immobilising us.

"What's this?! Todoroki's taken out a herd of cavalry teams with just one fierce attack!" Present Mic exclaimed, the crowds going wild as we were still frozen to the ground.

"I'll be taking those. Thanks." A sudden monotone voice came up, seeing the rush of someone passing by us.

"Huh-" Tetsutetsu and the rest suddenly grew silent, making me confused before knowing whose Quirk could do this, looking to the side to see Shinso with our points and a smirk on his face.

"Too bad you won't know about this." His eyes glanced down for a second, meeting mine as his widened in shock, myself giving a smirk and winking back at him.

-CRACK-

"Time's almost up everybody! Let's count them down! Ten!" It was as if everything was in slow motion, Shinso staring at me in shock as they ran past, myself maintaining the eye contact as the countdown began.

Suddenly, the breaking of the ice around us rang, waking the team up from their daze as they look around in confusion before a loud horn resounded around the arena.

"Let's see who the top four teams are right now!!" Letting go of Tetsutetsu and helping him down, his cries of shock from the loss of our points made me look towards Shinso.

"In first place, Team Todoroki! In second, Team Bakugo!" Present Mic announced, Bakugo hitting the ground in frustration as he yelled out profanities.

"In third, Team Tetsu-huh?! Whoa! It's Team Shinso!" Looking back towards my teammates, i see all of their crestfallen expressions, clearly shocked at how they lost all of their points.

"And in fourth place, Team Midoriya!" Smiling with guilt, I patted Tetsutetsu on the back in attempts of comfort.

"What the hell happened to us? How'd we end up with zero points...?" He muttered, Shiozaki holding her hands close to her chest.

"I daresay this is divine retribution for the unfair manner in which we stole the dwarf's points..." She said, recalling how she had used her Quirk to go take Mineta's points from behind.

"We'll proceed to the afternoon portion after the break!" Everyone dispersed, leaving towards the cafeteria for food as I smiled at all three of them, making them look up.

"Hey, come on! We tried our best, we'll know to try harder next year! Let's do our best!"
