Take Me With You

The few seconds left before he went completely out, he could hear the faint voice of Mr. Kurayami calling out.

"Todoroki?! Hang in there... Keii!"

Under his eyelids, everything of the world was shielded away from him, and what was left was just black nothingness. The dark enveloped him, it took him in and kept him there in the depths of his mind.

Shoto couldn't see anything, but his ears picked up on the distant mumbles that came to him. He wasn't able to tell what the words were, but he knew it was from the voice of a male. It was too deep to be one of his classmates' voices, and it definitely didn't sound like his father's voice as well, so who could it be?

Then he could feel his body being shaken, someone was trying to wake him maybe? But he didn't want to wake up from this peaceful darkness that engulfed him. It was pleasant, a place where he couldn't -no, didn't have to think of his problems in the real world. It gave him solace here, the silence, the emptiness, the nothingness.

"To... roki? Are you awake?" A piercing light suddenly invaded the darkness he was in, and it gave his eyes an irritating burning sensation, making him groan in annoyance at such a bright light.

By the time he mustered the will to really open his eyes, his blurry vision cleared to the view of a man right in front of him, which startled him slightly.

Blinking his eyes, the man become more clearer to reveal Mr. Kurayami who helped him into a sitting position on the couch he was laid on.

"Are you okay? Is there any pain you feel anywhere? A headache? Muscle pains or cramps?" The older man questioned, looking at Shoto for any other injuries while the latter only shook his head.

"I'm fine, sir. How long was I out for?" Shoto glanced around the living room of the Kurayami Household, spotting Keii on the coffee table in front of him, staring back at him intensely, Shoto found the stare somewhat in unnerving.

"Not long, maybe half an hour. But it seems that you're fine now. It's a miracle that you made it here at the right time. If you hadn't, it would've been too late." Mr. Kurayami sighed in relief, confusing Shoto. What did he mean by 'too late'?

"Before Shiro was taken, she told me to find Keii. I didn't understand why she said that when she was the one in danger." He said, his gaze on what reaction the older of the two held on his face, only to see a look of indifference and understanding on the words he had spoken.

"Yes, you see you're injury. It was from Shiro right?-" Shoto nodded reluctantly. "-Well, she told you to find Keii is because of that. To help you out."

"But what does the injury have to do with it?" He asked.

"Keii is the only one that can heal injuries made from Shiro's attacks." Shoto took a few moments to comprehend this new-found information, he took another look at the cat -who was already staring back- and wondered just how powerful of a Quirk it actually has.

"Has this happened before as well?" Silence came after what he asked, until Mr. Kurayami cleared his throat and nodded.

"Yes, the final exam your class took. All Might had the same injury on his arm, he came after so that it could get healed." At the mention of the final exam from before, his mind went back to the memory of the hand print that was on Shiro's neck, to which he shook it away.

"I see, thank you for helping me sir. But I must get going now." Shoto stood from the couch, bowing in thanks to the man as he turned to leave. Just as he was about to reach for the doorknob, yes heard Mr. Kurayami call out to him. "You're going to save Shiro and that Bakugo kid, aren't you?"

His whole figure went rigid at that, how could he have found out so easily? His pulse quickened in panic. He was a Pro Hero that works for the government, is he going to stop him from going vigilante against the law?

"You are. You and your friends stick out for each other, that's good. But you might need more help than just you lot. You're going against Villains." Shoto turned around to look back at the older man, who had Keii in his arms as he came closer.

"Even if you're doing a reconnaissance plan, the problem is finding the exact location where your targets are. Here-" Suddenly, Keii was in his arms. Shoto looked down at the feline in question. "-Keii can help you with that. He can track Shiro's exact location."

"Yaoyorozu said to let her think about it, but I wonder though..." Shoto remained silent next to Kirishima, both of which stood outside of the hospital that held their injured classmates.

He glanced down at the black feline nestled in his arms, snapping back up when he heard the sound of the hospital doors opening. Yaoyorozu and Midoriya came out of the building with stern expression, as if preparing themselves for what was to come.

"Whaddya say, Yaoyorozu?" Kirishima asked expectantly, waiting for her to answer his question before another voice cut them all off.

"Wait!" All four of them turned their heads to see Iida, who held an expression Shoto didn't know if it was anger and pain or just both.

"Of all people, you guys should know better!" He said, gritting his own teeth to prevent himself from yelling as he looked towards Shoto and Midoriya again. "Especially you two, who criticised me for my rash actions and, like me, had to receive a special pardon in the end!"

"Why are you about to commit the same blunder as I did?! This is foolish!"

"Iida, what are you talking about?-" Cutting off Kirishima from asking anymore question about it, he shook his head as the redhead looked at him questioningly.

"-...and U.A.'s facing a hard time as it is. Who do you think will take responsibility for your actions?!" Shoto could understand what Iida had wanted to say about what they were doing, but the latter had yet to listen to the whole plan as to how they were going to do it.

"That's not how it is, Iida. Nobody said we were gonna break any laws...-" Just as Midoriya was about to explain the true plan to him, his words were cut off by a punch to his cheek, whose fist was none other than Iida's.

"I have regret too! And of course I'm worried! I'm your Class President, naturally I worry about my classmates! And not just Bakugo!! Seeing you hurt earlier, reminded me of my injured brother!"

"What happens when your little vigilante act, takes you somewhere there's no coming back from, like my brother?! Are you saying you don't give a damn?!-" Iida's yells slowly quietened,  till his shaking hands were on Midoriya's shoulders, his head was down as if trying to control his own emotions. "-Are you saying you don't care about how I feel here...?"

"Iida." Shoto spoke up, having heard enough of what he was trying to say. "You don't seriously think we're planning to smash down the door, guns blazing do you?"

"We're getting them back without fighting." He watched as Iida looked at him with such a shocked and confused face.

"I trust you, Todoroki." Everyone turned to Yaoyorozu again, having remembered to hear out on her choice. "But worse comes to worse, I should be there as backup. Which is why I'm coming too."

Shoto nodded in respect to her, to which she returned it with the same nod and a reassuring smile. "We'll get both Shiro and Bakugo back, Todoroki."

"Yeah, we will." He smiled at the thought of being able to return to normal with them again. They were going to save them, and return to school together again.

"In that case,-" Iida suddenly spoke up. "-take me with you!"
