In the marbles were his classmates, Tokoyami, Bakugo and Shiro. And all of them were trapped by the hands of a villain.

"Give him back!!" Shoto could hear Midoriya yelling in anger at the villain for him to release Bakugo, but his own eyes were fixed on the small orb that contained Shiro, who was unconscious.

How could he have been so careless as to not look back during their hike through the forest. He knew that there was an undetermined amount of villains that attack the lodge, yet he did not think of the possibility of them going stealth to obtain their target.

And along with that, their target just so happened to be carrying her.

"What an odd thing to say. Bakugo doesn't belong to anyone. He's his own man, you egotist!" The masked villain retorted, wanting to taunt and stall them further, to which Shoto was growing annoyed with.

"Move." Stepping up, Shoto landed his right foot on the ground hard, conjuring spikes of ice that shot towards the tree the villain had stood, but he had only dodged it by jumping away.

"All we wish is to show him that there are other ways. Because you kids today, you have your values chosen for you." The villain continued to say.

"It's not just Bakugo, Tokoyami and Kurayami are gone too!" Both Shoji and Midoriya only noticed the other missing numbers of their group, to which Shoto had realised that they were all silently taken from behind them.

"There was no need to even confront us, he's mocking us." Shoto watched as the man rolled the three marbles around his fingers, a chuckle escaping from his masked face as he leaned against the cane he held.

"Sorry for my bad habit, I'm an entertainer at heart." He half-heatedly said, still fiddling with the orbs that held their friends. "Taking Tokoyami and Kurayami was just a bit of ad-libbing."

"Moonfish, old "Blade Tooth". Even a natural born homicidal maniac like him, whose death row appeal was shot down, was handily trampled by your rampaging friend. So I decided to take him!" He closed his fist around the marbles, cutting Shoto's and the rest's view of their friends anymore.

"And that Kurayami girl, what display she's shown with that dark side of her's! I was almost frightened to death when she started attacking me and my colleagues...-" Shoto glared up at the man at the sound of Shiro's name, as well as the mention of her Quirk going out of control. "-But, after some convincing she went to you instead, which I followed to our target here!"

"YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM, YOU JERK!" Shoto was slightly startled at how aggressive Midoriya was towards the villain right now, but he could understand to an extent. He could feel his own anger boil in his veins as well for said villain and his tone of amazement at Shiro's dark side of her Quirk and her kidnapping.

Seeing Uraraka who stood behind him, he went and placed the 1-B student -that had been on his back still- on the ground next to her. "Uraraka, take care of him!" After feeling the weight on his back gone, he hurried and went forward to create enough distance between him and the group.

He had to make some distance, or else his Quirk might hit his friends as well, and that'd just cause more problems. So after getting to the front, Shoto went and activated his Quirk to full extent, watching as the large glacier of ice formulate from the soles of his feet, jutting upward and breaking the forest canopy, knocking over and breaking several lines of trees as well towards where the villain stood.

Shoto didn't know where this sudden burst energy and power came from that urged him to attack with such force, but all he mattered right now was saving Shiro along with the rest of his classmates from potential capture. And because of his determined goal, he ignored the patches of ice and frost that froze his right side.

 But to his annoyance, the villain's agility powered over his attack. "Sorry, but deception and running away are actually my only specialties! I can't go toe-to-toe with heroes in training." The villain, after dodging the attack that Shoto sent him, pressed two fingers to the side of his head. "Vanguard Action Squad! The targets have been successfully captured!"

"Short though it was, our mission has come to an end! As planned, be at the evacuation point within five minutes of this transmission!" The villain looked down at them for a mere second with a chuckle, then pushed himself off from a tip of ice and ran.

Shoto could feel the dread that invaded his insides with the knowledge that the villain was getting away with Shiro and the rest. No, he couldn't let them get away with this so easily. "Not gonna happen! You're not getting away!"

The lot of them ran after the villain, but from above the trees, Shoto knew that he was faster, and with all the injuries they've all gotten, it only slowed them down even more. "Sheesh, that masked guy is quick!"

"If only we had Iida!" Uraraka followed on, pants and stumbles came from their group as they still continued to run through the forest in chase of the villain. Midoriya only gritted his teeth in order to withstand the pain he had. "We can't give up, gotta catch up and get them back!"

"But we're eating his dust at this rate." Shoji glanced back worryingly at Midoriya who looked to be on the verge of a breakdown, but Shoto could careless about his classmates' mental state when his own was a storm in his head.

"Uraraka, make us float! Quickly!-" The sudden plan from Midoriya caught all of their attention. "-Then Asui, throw us with your tongue as hard as you can! With a much strength as one of my punches, make us really fly!" 

"Shoji, you can correct our course with your arms in midair. Tow us along behind you!-" Shoto actually thought this plan might give them a shot at catching up. "-Keep an eye on us, Uraraka. When it looks like we've closed the gap, release us!"

Upon hearing this idea from Midoriya, the lot of them soon realised his thoughts and turned to look at him. "I see, kinda like human cannonballs." 

Uraraka pointed out that Midoriya was too injured to partake in such a task, to which Shoto agreed on, seeing as the greenette looked about ready to fall to the ground dead in any moment. But Midoriya only brushed their worries off, saying how he can still move and saving their classmates was more important.

So now, the three of them -Shoto, Shoji and Midoriya- were wrapped together by Asui's tongue, along with being levitated by Uraraka's quirk as they prepared themselves for being thrown into the air soon. Asui pulled her head back to throw them, hoping that they would save them ad turn out safe together. "You'd better save them." 

And with that, they were in the air flying towards the speck in front of them that was the masked villain, Shoto had one hand being held by Shoji who lead them forward, the rest of his body just in a whirlwind as he tried to resume balance for himself.

The villain heard loud screaming coming fast fro behind him, so he could only turn his head back to look. And what he saw only shocked him -three of the heroes in training from before were hot on his tail, flying fast without stopping as they shot forward at him. He wasn't sure he was gonna dodge this now. 

Before he could even twist his body to move away, he was slammed harshly from behind by the three of them, sending all of them free falling back down to the ground with him being at the bottom of the pile, he was pretty sure there was a crack from his back, too.

Shoto along with Shoji and Midoriya all pinned him to the ground, unaware of the rest of the villains that were around them until one of them yelled something in shock, which made all three of them look up. 

"I know them! Who're they?!" One of them weirdly yelled, he was covered head to toe in a suit that split in half by two colours. Then the other one that stood next to him only blinked and raised a palm. "Mister, dodge." 

"Roger." The villain under Shoto answered, who instantly disappeared as a burst of blue flames came at them, Shoto and the rest jumped away from the flames, nearly getting singed in the process as well.

"Some faces from Shigaraki's hit-list!"Just as he was about safe from the attack, he heard a voice behind him. "That plain-looking beat-up kid and you... were not on it!" 

"Tch!" Clicking his tongue, Shoto used the momentum he had from dodging and turned around to glare at the villain, swinging his right in a kick as ice followed his movements and hit said villain. 

He made a mental note to thank Shiro afterwards for teaching him these in-midair tricks.

"Time to run, you two!" Having dealt with the villain with ease, he turned to look at Shoji who called for the retreat, spotting the three orbs in his hands, which made him feel at ease more. "Great. We're done." 

The three of them were ready to dash out of the scene and away from the villains, but a sudden cloud of swirling mist blocked their way, making them halt from their run. "The warp guy..."

"It's been five minutes since the signal, let's be off Dabi." More of the same portal appeared around the villains behind them, who only jumped in and disappeared from sight, while only the masked villain and the other -Dabi was his name- remained.

"Hang on, the target's still-" Dabi was prepared to launch another attack, but was cut off by the masked villain next to him who chuckled. "Yes, as you appear to be so pleased with yourselves as to want to cut and run, let me give you a little reward."

"It's a bad habit of mine, one of the tenets of magic states that flaunting a particular object is inevitably part of the trick." The marbles in Shoji's hand had suddenly burst to reveal chunks of Shoto's ice within them, which made the three of them whirl around to see the real marbles that held their friends were on the villain's tongue, right behind his mask. 

"That ice attack was the perfect chance for e to set up a few decoys, I put them in my right pocket for later.-" The man fixed his mask back onto his face, having enjoyed the look of shock on teir faces. "-Upon noticing the objects in my right hand enter my right pocket, you would naturally be excited to give chase."

He take steps backwards and neared the swirling portal that was ready behind them. "And this is where I leave you-?!"

A beam of sparkly light shot from the bushes, just skidding by his face and breaking his mask, causing his mouth to open in shock and the marbles to fall out, Shoto and the others took notices and hurriedly dashed forward to retrieve them. 

He saw the two marbles that had fallen closest to him, as he went to hasten his pace, he shot an arm out to grab the marbles that contained his friends. Just as he was around to close his fingers around the marbles, they were gone from his grasp, and he only held air in his palm. 

"How sad for you, Shoto Todoroki." He looked up to see the other villain holding the two marbles in his fingers, a smirk on his face as he stared back at Shoto. 

Falling to the ground, Shoto only looked in horror at the loss that he made, watching as the villain take the marbles with a glance. "It's them, go ahead and release now." 

The masked villain who was about to disappear into the portal mumbled to himself about the sudden laser that shot at him, lifting a hand and snapping his fingers.

The marbles popped, to which the one in Shoji's hand revealed Tokoyami, Shoto saw this and looked at the remaining two in fear. 

Both Bakugo and Shiro were held by their necks by the villain, both of them were conscious now and in shock -more so with Shiro- as they looked at the three of them with fear.

"SHIRO!!" Shoto felt the surge of tears that welled in his eyes, watching as she slowly sank into the portal. He saw the fear that was in her eyes during that moment, and that only tore at him even more. The pain from the injury by his side throbbed with sudden pain, which made him double over, but his eyes were still locked on Shiro. 

"Shoto-" Hearing her call his name, Shoto strained his ears to listen to what she had to say. Her eyes were wide in fear and with tears that fell from her cheeks, but a wavering smile was on her lips as if to reassure him.

"-find Keii."
