Royal Hunt

The year is 1559, and a human has moved into the Hillhaven Pack area. We are a wolf pack where I am their King who rules with an iron fist. My parents died three years ago when a rogue pack attacked them. I ascended the throne at the age of fifteen to rule our packs with fear and very strict rules. Everyone bows to me for whatever I say or want; if they don't, they pay with a heavy punishment or their death.
My name is Sebastian Stewart; I am just about to turn eighteen years old and known as the Alpha King of the Hillhaven pack. I have a younger brother named Henry, sixteen, along with the next in line for my throne if I can not secure my claim as our laws are written. With me about to become of age, I am required to take a mate by the end of the summer but have not found my mate yet while my time is running short when it comes to the law. There are rumors that a human family has moved onto our lands, but I have yet to address them on the matter. It is unusual for humans to move into our territory but not unheard of. We will be going on a royal hunt here shortly, so I am thinking of visiting these people to make sure they are not a threat. Even though we are wolves, we try to stay in human form most of the time plus even act like them as much as possible. I have heard tales that our kind may find our true mate in a human form, but I have never heard of anyone who has. If a human girl is a true mate, then it does pose a challenge, we can turn a human into our kind, but it can be a painful process. Humans have a hard time adjusting to our way of life sometimes; there have been words that they do not want when they are found. There have been times that humans were turned since they asked to be or wanted a better life than what they had. I am not a patient person when it comes to what I want, and if I don't get it, I become a cruel person that does not take no for an answer. Being a king, I don't have to worry about that too much, but there will be a challenge that I will face like nothing before. What I am in store for is about to change my life completely; the struggle will be one that I could have never imagined.
Henry bangs the door to my chambers open as it ricochets off the walls in my room. "Come on, brother, you know what will happen if you go out like that," pointing while he snickers at my outfit that I have on. We are going out on a Royal Hunt for sport, so I have on my royal attire to do this.
Leith looks over at him off the settee. "Leave him alone. He can wear whatever he wants to. If he wants to go on the hunt with that outfit, then that is what he will be able to wear."
"Thank you, Leith; it is nice to see that someone knows how to talk to me and leave me alone properly," nodding to him.
Henry mutters under his breath, "Suck up."
We mount our horses then head out of the palace to start the hunt; we all have our crossbows tucked away as we start the gates. The path leads out into the woods that go down a long curvy path. The king's highway is the easiest and fastest way around the Blood Moon forest. It is a deadly forest that has attacked people out of my village then killed them. They say there's a creature that lives there that feeds off human blood or any type of blood that they can find to feed it with. I have sent troops into the woods trying to find out if this creature is real or not, but they have not been able to find anything yet. I try to put my people's minds at ease by trying to flush this creature out of the shadows, but it has not worked yet.
Master whines as he looks down the dark trail that disappears into the dark forest. "Don't worry; we will find whatever that thing is soon and make sure your people are safe." Master is my wolf; he talks to me, trying to help keep my mind at ease about things that bother me.
Leith looks over at me with questionable eyes. "Bash, are you doing fine over there?"
He snaps me out of my thoughts as I turn to him with a look on my face that he can not read. "Yeah, I am good. I was thinking about that so-called creature that has been terrorizing the people. Master was comforting me about it."
"They will be looking for him, but when we find out whatever it is, we will either kill it, bring it in for questioning, or torture it until we find out what it wants or why it is doing this to your people," Leith snarls as he looks down the path.
Henry pulls up beside us. "I want to see why it is doing this. Why does it hide in the shadows then have to feed like that? Vampires don't exist, so what can it be? A wolf gone crazy with blood lust?"
Leith shakes his head slowly. "I don't believe in that. Our kind goes crazy but not over blood like that. I have never heard of something like that happening."
"We will have to wait to see what the guards find. Then we will go from there with what needs to be done about this creature," pushing my horse forward.
We ride on through the forest when a stag jumps out in front of us, taking off through the woods. We take off after it drawing our bows to take a shot when it is clear. As we chase after it, a white horse comes out of nowhere, blocking our path, making us pull up hard to keep from running straight into it.
Glaring down at its rider, the words come tumbling out of my mouth, "What the hell?"
A beautiful lady sits on this huge horse, glaring at the three of us with dark brown eyes. "Why are you chasing that poor animal? What did it do to you?"
I sniff the air, and she is human. I growl lowly at her for getting in the way of our hunt. "We are on a hunt; that is why we were chasing that animal. We were enjoying the hunt until you interrupted us."
She huffs while crossing her arms over her chest. "Were you going to eat it when you were done with it or just use it as a trophy for your wall?"
Pointing my finger in her direction, my voice drops to a harsh tone. "That has nothing to do with you. What we do on my lands is our business."
Looking around at the path we are on, she then locks eyes back with me again. "What do you mean your lands?"
Sitting up straight in the saddle, I wave my hands at the woods that surround us. "This is my kingdom, my lands, and everything on it belongs to me here. My border is just beyond the creek that way. Then the lands go over to the next kingdom, which belongs to Prince Stephen. He is the ruler of the next lands."
Her eyes narrow with disbelief at me. "So, you are the King that we heard about from the old tenants that lived in our house."
"Who's house did you buy?" wondering which family moved away from my kingdom.
"My parents bought the house from a man named Christopher. He said they were moving off your lands going back to their homelands. They said they needed to sell quickly because they had a family emergency that called them back."
Scratching my head a little, it then hits about the rumors that were circulating the castle "I heard about that. I didn't realize that they sold their house and lands."
"My father is a very good friend of his; he wrote us a letter over a week ago knowing we wanted to move out of our house and onto these lands."
"Usually, my tenants let me know when things like this happen, but since they were so far out, I guess I can overlook it," scanning her body slowly now that I am slowly starting to calm down.
"You have to; we bought the land fair with our own hard-earned money," she snaps off with a quick sharpness of her tongue.
I feel a ripple of anger go through me as she is disrespecting me. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath to settle myself back down.
Leith lays a hand on my arm and squeezes gently. "Easy, sire. Don't get to riled up about this."
"I am fine. She will need to learn who she is dealing with in the future" slowly looking back at this woman who dares open that smart mouth of hers at me.
"I only answer to my father, no one else thank you" as she goes to turn her horse when Henry blocks her.
"Hold on a minute; you need to show respect to my brother, the King of this land," he says in a low growl.
"Oh? Was I in the presence of royalty? I am so sorry, your Majesty," as she rolls her eyes while having a sarcastic tone, then does a mocking bow towards me.
"Are you wanting a death wish?" Henry's eyes go wide at her shaking his head slowly.
"Whatever," as she grabs her reins. She jerks her horse taking off down the road, leaving me sitting there blinking and wondering what just happened.
