Mikuo's POV

I walked into my father's room.

"So, father, about the, uh, engagement with Kaiko"

"Yes?"

I had a bad feeling like this wouldn't go well. But I didn't love her and never had. I inhaled and spit out what I wanted to say.

"I'm not in love with her and would like to cancel the engagement"

My father turned around and I could tell he wasn't pleased. I mentally braced myself.

"You what? Do you know how wealthy her family is? How powerful it would make our kingdom? How important it is to have them as a alli? I don't care if you want the engagement canceled, you will marry her!" He snapped, walking over to me and practically yelling in my face.

I backed away from him and had my back to the door. My hand went to the door handle so if I needed I could easily open the door and escape.

"I know she is wealthy, and I know you would like me to marry her, but I don't wish it, and I think I may be in love with another princess. Her family is wealthy too, not as wealthy, but-"

"But? No, no but, I would like ties to the blue kingdom and you are my son and I choose your bride. I choose Kaiko, and you will marry her"

I grinned as he looked angrily at me, as though thinking he could scare me into marrying someone I didn't love.

"Sorry, no" I said, opening the door and slipping out, slamming it shut and walking away as my father called after me, but I didn't go back.

King Hatsune's POV

I yelled after my son as he slipped out of the door escaping.

I groaned in frustration. My servant was standing in the corner, I could tell he was scared when I turned to him.

"Go tell my guards to bring me Madam IA Rose" I ordered and he gave a quick bow and ran out the door.

I went over to the window and looked at the evening sky. My wife, the late queen, had loved looking at the sky.

My wife had died bringing my daughter and son into the world. I had never thought Miku would be of any use, but maybe she would be more useful than Mikuo.

I had sent her to Madam IA and stable master Gakupo, certain they would take good care of her, not that I really cared.

Madam IA Rose entered the room and I turned to her.

"How's Miku? Would she like to come back as a princess?" I asked and IA answered "Well, she is rather bitter after being a servant so long"

I nodded, that was to be expected.

"Well, she's coming back. I need ties to the blue kingdom and Mikuo has refused"

Madam IA nodded, but I could see she wasn't pleased. I wondered why and was about to ask, but she must've gotten attached to... Her name slipped my mind. Oh well, she wasn't important.

I dismissed her and she went back down to the kitchen, I assume.

I turned back to the window.

As long as I was alive, I would make sure at least one of my children married of the blue kingdom.
