7: dessert for dinner

"Ah! Sorry I'm late!" I called out as I ran out of the hospital, waving to Geto.

He laughed as he watched me, "It's fine, Y/n. Really."

"I just really needed to shower," I explained as I rested my hands on my knees, already out of breath from running out here.

"Mm," he touched my wet hair. "You'll get sick if you don't dry your hair."

I smirked as I stood, finally noticing what was in his hands, "And what's that for Geto?"

His face immediately became flustered, darting his eyes away from me, "I got them for you."

I smiled as he handed me the bouquet of flowers, immediately putting the petals to my nose. It was so beautiful and simple, a bundle of lavender and baby's breath, and it smelled so amazing.

"It's beautiful, Geto. Thank you."

"I didn't know what you like, but your apartment is pretty minimalist, so I went with something simple."

I used my free hand to gently pull him down to me, leaving a soft kiss. I had thought about kissing him all day, and the way his lips felt against mine, it was even better than I remembered.

I tried to pull away, but he quickly grabbed me back in. He wrapped his arms around my waist, continuing to kiss me as if we weren't outside of a hospital ER at 1 in the morning. I didn't care though, I absolutely loved every second of it.

"I missed you," he breathed out as we broke apart, both of our eyes consumed with a fiery desire.

"I missed you too."

He smiled as he left a kiss on my forehead, quickly holding my hand as we began to walk together. I couldn't get the stupid grin off my face as we walked, smelling my flowers every few seconds.

"You know," I looked up at him. "Lavender is actually my favorite. Good choice."

He smiled proudly, "Most of your candles are lavender scented, so I figured you must love it."

"Mm so someone went snooping around my apartment," I teased as I nudged him playfully.

I watched as his jaw tensed up a little bit with my joke. I didn't actually care that he looked around. I told him to make himself at home, so why did he get all weird?

"Your apartment is kinda small," he smirked as he glanced down at me, finally breaking the tense silence that was beginning to form.

I let out a loud laugh, "Hey! It's not that bad! And it's cheap!"

He shrugged, "It suits you."

"Small and cheap is what suits me?"

His eyes went wide as he looked at me, "N-no! No! That's no what I meant!"

"I'm kidding Geto," I laughed at him. "My jokes are not landing with you tonight."

He chuckled nervously, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand, "Yea, sorry, I'm just nervous."

"Nervous?" I tilted my head. "Nervous about what?"

He stopped suddenly, facing me as his eyes narrowed into mine. His sudden intensity flustered me, and I quickly averted his gaze, taking a small step back.

I know it's unintentional, but he can be so scary... like I'm a child about to get scolded or something.

He gently held my face, making me look at him once again, "Can I take you on a date?"

I furrowed my brows at him before I let out a laugh, "A date? That's what you're nervous about?"

"Well... yea," he mumbled, a tint of pink hitting his cheeks.

"You scare me when you do that," I pushed lightly on his chest. "You look like you're about to confess a murder to me or something!"

He laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck, "Yea, sorry about that."

"I'd love to go on a date with you, Geto."

His eyes instantly brightened, grabbing my hand as he dragged me along, "Great! Let's go!"

"Right now!?"

"Yea! Unless you have plans?" he teased as he glanced back at me.

I obviously didn't have plans right now. It just seemed strange. I kind of wanted to go home and go to bed.

But there was no way I was turning him down now. He looked, well, giddy. And I'd never seen him so adorable.

He led me to a small cafe that was open all night, getting us a booth for two, never letting my hand go as he continued to drag me around.

I set the flowers on the table and watched as Geto barely even fit in the small booth. I honestly had whiplash from how quickly this happened, but he looked so pleased as he sat across from me. His head resting in his hands as he stared at me with a small smile.

"What?" I glanced nervously over at him as I looked over the menu.

"This is fun," he smiled at me.

I nodded my head slowly, "Very."

"What are you going to order?"

I sighed, "I'm not sure. I really just wanted coffee, but I hate hot coffee."

He furrowed his eyebrows at me, "You need to order actual food. You don't eat enough."

"Mm?" I glanced up at him. "I just never feel up to eating."

"But you work too much not to. You need to take care of yourself."

"I know," I sighed as I looked at him. "When I'm stressed and anxious, I have absolutely no appetite. And since that's my usual disposition, it's hard."

He smirked at me, "I'm ordering for you."

"What?"

Just then, the server showed up to take our orders and Geto made the young waiter hand over the notepad so he could write it down without me knowing.

I didn't think he'd be such a softie, but his eyes were absolutely glowing. It was making my heart race faster with every moment. I don't know if anyone had ever looked at me this way.

As I spoke, he hung onto every word, nodding along thoughtfully. He asked so many questions, eager to know everything. He made me feel like I was the most important person in the world to him.

And I really wanted to be.

I covered my hands and laughed as the server brought out our food, placing the dish in front of me.

"Geto," I said between laughs. "What did you order me!?"

He smirked proudly, "I noticed you have quite the sweet tooth."

I looked at the waffle that towered before me, covered with whip cream and strawberries and chocolate chips.

"Did I order well?" he asked, still grinning.

"I will definitely be eating every bite of this." I couldn't help but wiggle excitedly in my seat as I grabbed my fork.

"Are you dancing?"

"I'm just so excited!" I squealed. "I will never say no to dessert. It's against my religion."

He laughed as I took my first bite.

"Mm," I mumbled as I closed my eyes, enjoying the deliciousness but also exaggerating the sound a bit.

As I looked at him again, his eyes were glossed over and watery as he watched me, the most sincere smile I had ever seen stretching across his face.

"You want some?" I offered, feeling my heart flutter as his eyes gazed into mine.

"Y/n... I think I'm falling in love with you."

"W-what?" my eyes went wide with the confession. How long had I known him? Just over a month?

I went to speak. I tried to say something, anything, but nothing came out. This might have been the first time in my life that I was rendered speechless.

This morning when I woke up next to him, I briefly had the same thought but quickly pushed it away... because that's crazy right? Can you love someone you barely even know?

I had food in my fridge older than my relationship with this man... And all the guys in the past that I dated, the one's who even after almost a year, I still couldn't ever say that to them.

But then why did every fiber in my body want to say it back? Why was I having to consciously fight myself from spewing out those words?

"I-it's ok if you don't feel the same way," he added, breaking my train of confusion. "I just needed to tell you."

"So are we like dating now?" the words awkwardly tumbled out.

Not what I wanted to say, and I don't even know why I asked that. As if it mattered. As if saying you're falling in love with someone isn't clarification itself.

"I mean..." he trailed off, avoiding my eyes. "If you want to."

"Yea, I do want to," I muttered out. I was still just staring at him, my mind racing with so many incoherent thoughts.

He nodded slowly, "Ok then. That's a good start at least." He smiled nervously at me, finally letting his eyes wander back to mine.

"I'm falling in love with you too."

I watched as his entire body relaxed, his mouth slightly dropping open as I was finally honest with him and with myself.

Before I knew what was happening, Geto reached across the table to pull me in for a kiss. He bumped the table, causing our drinks to spill a bit, and definitely getting some whipped cream on his shirt.

But he didn't seem to care at all. All he cared about was showing me exactly how he felt. Once again, kissing me as if we were completely alone.

"So, did you want you to stay the night again?" I asked as we pulled apart.

"Mm, I was definitely planning on it."
