30: Closure
*Geto POV*
"How much time do we have left?" Utahime asked.
Everyone from the Kyoto campus had finally arrived, ready to bring about a war with the protectors. Or just with Y/n.
Not really sure who was all coming. Not even really sure what we're fighting about anymore. Without Y/n, everything seemed meaningless.
I couldn't give a fuck about the world ending, it seemed like mine already had.
Satoru crossed his arms, "Should be anytime now."
He was more ready than anyone. I think Y/n got to his very core with her threats. Honestly, I don't know if he had ever been confronted like that.
"I still can't believe she killed that asshole," Maki huffed out, the smallest smirk creeping up on her face. These students would never be able to hurt her. They all admire her so much.
Gakuganji scoffed, "Not as innocent as she looks."
"Kinda hot though," Todo smirked.
"Don't even go there," I grumbled as I shot him a glare.
Him and Itadori both laughed. They could be so annoying, but it mostly pissed me off because they were right. Anyone that saw her would know she's absolutely beautiful.
This had probably been the longest 24 hours of my life. She killed Naoya without a second thought, and I was terrified she would come back with that same mindset.
If she wasn't careful, she'd end up dead tonight.
"Should've guessed," Satoru mumbled, a proud little smirk on his face.
Anger replaced my concern. What the fuck is this? Some kind of joke?
"Where is she?" I growled as Satoru and I approached her two comrades from yesterday.
We had everyone here. Tokyo and Kyoto students and staff. The Zenin clan members eager for revenge. Professional sorcerers.
And they showed up with two people. Y/n not even one of them. So we left our group behind us, deciding to confront these two on our own first and find out what the fuck is going on.
"She's gone," the girl spoke up first, I think I remember her name being Aiko. The one from Y/n's village. The one Y/n saved.
My heart dropped as she spoke, "Gone? Gone where?"
The guy with her shook his head, "Doesn't matter. You'll never find her."
"So she sent you two to die in her place?" Satoru smirked.
I ignored Satoru, still stuck on what this random dude just said. The ground beneath me began to shake, my body fighting with everything it has just to remain standing.
"What do you mean I'll never find her?" my voice cracked as I spoke, revealing just how close I was to breaking apart.
"Suguru..." Satoru's entire persona changed as he put a hand on my shoulder. I looked over at him, tears already welling up.
"Y/n's not here, so you can cut the shit," the guy huffed out again. "It's not like you deserved her anyway."
I had nothing to say to that because he was right... She left without me, and I had no one to blame but myself.
"And who the fuck are you?" Satoru snarled as he stepped forward, whipping off his blindfold. He had his own issues, but he'd do anything for me. He really was my best friend. and I could always count on him.
"It doesn't matter who we are," Aiko quickly interjected. "We're not here to talk about Y/n. This is about what comes next."
"I was her fiancé!" he yelled, ignoring her completely.
Aiko let out a loud sigh, obviously frustrated this had come up, "Oh my god Kai. Are you fucking serious right now?"
Was he the guy Baba had referred to? Did Y/n really say yes to him? Were they engaged the whole time I was with her?
"Of course she was a cheating whore," Satoru mumbled, dropping his urge to fight. I should've smacked the shit out of him for saying that, but my mind was a mess.
I stared right at Aiko, my voice lowered, "I-is it true?"
I was so glad it was only us four because I needed to know the truth about her. And I didn't want anyone to keep seeing me like this, especially my students.
She sighed, "She broke up with him forever ago. Kai's just bitter as fuck because she said she didn't want a relationship and then fell in love with you."
"Not true!" the guy we now knew as Kai yelled back. "She said we might try things out after med school finished, but then this asshole used her..."
I ignored him because Aiko's words filled me with so much hope. It shouldn't have made me as happy as it did, but the fact she never doubted me made my heart soar.
She fell in love with me so quickly. She chose me over everyone. It was something she never experienced before, and it was all for me.
"Aiko, will I ever get her back?"
She chewed on her lip nervously as she looked up at me, "We honestly have no idea where she is. She offered to help us one last time in exchange for getting out."
No idea?... Would she really just leave permanently like that?
"Getting out of what?" Satoru asked.
"The protectors. Sorcery. Japan. All of it. She's done, at least for now."
"And you expect us to believe she'd leave Baba?" Satoru followed up. It was a good point, and with all of his questions, it was clear he cared about Y/n too.
Aiko's gaze dropped to the ground, "Baba didn't make it. She passed shortly after she healed Y/n's wound."
Satoru's jaw tightened as he ran his hands back through his hair. We didn't know Baba was a healer, but it makes sense now how Y/n survived.
"Don't you get it, you made her run away," Kai glared at me. "You destroyed her."
"You captured her. You took away her life and all of her accomplishments. You almost killed her. You killed Baba. And you broke her heart."
My eyes shut, letting his words sink in and leave their mark, etching themselves into my existence. My thoughts flashed back to the night we met.
I'd give anything to save her from myself. If only I had just died. Or been stuck in a different ally. On a different night. Anything else but this.
"Look," Aiko's voice was gentle, balancing out her teammates cruelty. "Y/n's not weak. No one destroyed her."
I looked up to see her already staring at me almost as if she felt sorry for me. How could she not hate me too after everything?
She continued, "Everything she does is to save and protect those around her. She believes in the goodness in people, and we're here to tell you what's next. So if you care about her, hear us out."
I couldn't bring myself to speak, so Satoru took the lead, "Fine, come with us."
We walked back towards the group, allowing for
them to explain it to us all. It'd be easier this way. I stayed silent, my hands shoved into my pockets. This was worse than anything I could've anticipated.
"Where are the objects?" Gakuganji demanded as we approached.
"Gone, just like Y/n," Aiko explained, really only focusing on me and Satoru.
"Gone where!?" he yelled again.
"Let me guess, you don't know that either?" Satoru mumbled. This conversation was giving us both deja vu.
"All of the special grade objects were bound to her—" Aiko started but was quickly cut off.
"All of them!?" Itadori yelled out.
She chuckled, "Yes, all of them."
"Damn, she probably could beat you huh Gojo-sensei?" he and Kugisaki snickered.
"Eh!? No way!!" he got defensive, but was back into his normal, carefree persona. The one he always maintained around the students.
"So she has them?" Naobito asked.
Kai shook his head, "No. She released them all, allowing them to be freed and hidden wherever she sees fit."
"Then no one knows where they are except her?"
Satoru questioned.
"Well have no idea, but knowing Y/n, I'm sure she came up with some sort of contingency plan in case something happened to her."
"Where is she going once they're all rehidden?" I tried to hide the desperation in my voice, but failed miserably.
Satoru quickly shot me a glance, reminding me not to lose my cool now that we were with everyone again. Even so, I really didn't care anymore. I would never be able to give up on finding her.
"I don't know," Aiko answered. "Y/n came here to scare you all into believing you had 24 hours to prepare for a war. She knew that if you took her seriously, it would give her the opportunity to escape along with everything else."
"Because we'd be too focused on our own preparations..." Satoru crouched down as he does when he's deep in thought. "Always so fucking crafty."
"And now there's no need for a war," Maki spoke up in awe of the woman she looked up to so dearly.
"Exactly," Aiko nodded.
I smiled softly to myself because, as always, Y/n had thought of everything.
"And in exchange for helping us, Y/n gets to start a new life where none of us know where to find her," Kai explained.
"If you think we're going to give up, you're mistaken!!" Gakuganji yelled. "That power belongs with us!"
"And someone is bound to slip up eventually," Naobito agreed.
"You're not wrong," Aiko chuckled. "But Y/n's planned for that too."
"She'll be back—" Kai spoke.
"She's coming back?" I couldn't help but to interject.
He glared at me, "We don't know when. Could be 5 years. Could be 20."
Now I was really confused. We all were.
"Yes, whenever the next generation of sorcerers comes into power," Aiko clarified.
Satoru sighed as he stood back up, "Well she's definitely smarter than all of us, I'll give her that."
He must have put it all together, and I was trying to, but my mind was still clouded by the fact that maybe I'd see her someday.
"And much more optimistic," Kai grumbled.
"Y/n met you all," Aiko smiled at the students. "And she believes when you all rise as the new leaders, protectors and sorcerers will be able to find harmony. That's when she'll be back."
"So when all the old guys die off!?" Todo laughed.
The energy in the air shifted. It wasn't cold and dark, but filled with hope and compassion. The expressions on our students faces were no longer confused and broken, but proud and eager.
Eager to prove Y/n right, that they were the generation who would change everything. Even from a distance, she was still inspiring them.
"She's weak," Naobito hissed.
"You might not all understand her motives, but Y/n's a true embodiment of who protectors are supposed to be. She doesn't care about power, she just wants a better world."
"And she thinks we can create that?" Itadori asked, his eyes wide and filled with sparkles.
"Yep!" Aiko offered a smile.
Y/n gave up everything she had. Her home. Her career and future. Her family. Her friends. All to keep us from destroying each other.
She really is too good for this world.
I hadn't even noticed the group beginning to disperse. The students back off towards campus while the leaders walked off to probably discuss what we could do next.
They must know that the students will never fight by their side now. They'll be lucky if the students ever listen to any of us again.
"Uh, Suguru," Aiko called out as she grabbed my arm, making my head snap up. Why would she use my first name? Her voice was so soft and gentle, as if we were friends.
"Y/n doesn't know about this, but uh," she pulled out a small, folded up piece of paper. "Baba asked me to give this to you."
"To be honest, I debated over it for a long time. But seeing as she asked me on her deathbed, I figured I had to."
She smiled as she looked up at me, "Good luck with everything."
I watched for a moment as she walked away with Kai, my heart absolutely crashing against my chest.
Baba left something for me before dying? I had never felt more undeserving of anything in my life.
I opened the paper to find a small note written.
Remember, she'll take care of you too
