In class Rayne, Scott and Stiles were discussing what Scott told them about the Alpha while getting their test results.

"If Derek isn't the Alpha, if he's not the one who but you, then who did?" Stiles asks
"I don't know." Scott answers

"Did the Alpha kill the bus driver?"
"I don't know."
"Does Allison's dad know about the..."
"I don't know!" Scott exclaims and people turn to him and the teacher put the tests on their desks.

Both twins got an A while Scott got a D- and Stiles speaks up
"Dude, you need to study more." And Scott turns his paper away from them.

"That was a joke. Scott, it's one test, you're gonna make it up. Do you want help studying?" Stiles asks and the teen wolf sighs.

"No. I'm studying with Allison after school today." Scott says and the twins look at each other
"That's my boy."
"We're just studying."

"No, you're not." Stiles says to his oblivious friend
"No I'm not?" He asks looking to Rayne for help and she just lowers her head.

"Not if I'm forced to live vicariously through you. If you go to her house today and squander that colossal opportunity I swear to God I'll have you de-balled." He says and Rayne grimaces and looks at her brother in disgust.

"I did not want to hear anything about Scott's balls today. Or ever." She mutters
"Okay. Just stop with the questions, man." Scott says.

"Done. No more questions. No more talk about the Alpha or Derek. Especially Derek, who still scares me."

The bell rings signalling that's it the end of school and the Stilinski twins walk out together and get into Stiles' jeep and he reverses out of the parking space and goes to drive further but sees Derek in front of the car and Stiles immediately stops the car.

"Oh, my God." Stiles says and cars behind them start to honk their horns and Derek falls to the ground and Scott runs to him and Rayne gets out the car followed by her brother.

"What are you doing here?'' Scott asks Derek
"I was shot." Derek answers, his breath getting heavy
"He's not looking to good, dude." Stiles says
"Why aren't you healing?" Scott asks.

"I can't. It was a different kind of bullet."
"A silver bullet?" Stiles asks
"No, you idiot." Derek says annoyed

"Wait. That's what she meant when she said you had 48 hours." Scott realises
"What? Who said 48 hours?"
"The one who shot you."

Derek's eyes flash to blue as he groans
"Nice eyes." Rayne admires and then cars start to honk their horns
"What are you doing? Stop that."
"That's what I'm trying to tell you, I can't."

"Help me get him into the car." Scott says to the twins and Rayne opens the door and climbs into the back, then Scott closes the door.

"I need you to find what kind of bullet they used." Derek orders
"How the hell am I supposed to do that?"
"She's an Argent, she's with them."

"Why should I help you?"
"Because it's a good deed." Rayne answers smiling
"Because you need me." Derek answers
"It's also a good deed." Rayne repeats
"Fine, I'll try."

Stiles enters the car and Scott turns to him
"Hey, get him out of here."
"I hate you for this so much." Stiles says and drives off.

"Did Scott get back to you?" Stiles asks his sister who has his phone
"He needs more time." She says looking at the message and he sighs and looks at Derek who is getting worse.

"Try not to bleed out on my seats, okay? We are almost there."
"Almost where?" Derek asks and Stiles sighs
"Your house." He answers and Derek turns to him
"What? No, you can't take me there."

"I can't take you to your own house?" Stiles says in disbelief
"Not when I can't protect myself." Derek says and then Stiles parks at the side of the road and Rayne rolls her eyes know exactly where this is going to go.

"What happens if Scott doesn't find your little magic bullet? Hmm? Are you dying?" Stiles asks
"Not yet. I have a last resort."
"What do you mean? What last resort?" He asks and then Derek rolls up his sleeve.

"Oh, my God! What is that?" The twins grimace
"Ugh, is that contagious? You know what, you should probably just get out." Stiles says
"Start the car. Now." Derek orders

"I don't think you should be barking orders with the way you look. Okay, in fact, I think if I wanted to, I could probably drag your little werewolf ass out into the middle of the road and leave you for dead."
"Start the car, or I'm gonna rip your throat out. With my teeth." Derek threatens and after a moment of silence he started the car.

"What am I supposed to do with him?" Stiles asks Scott over the phone
"Take him somewhere. Anywhere!" Scott says
"And by the way he's starting to smell." Stiles complains
"Like what?"
"Like Death!" Stiles says and Rayne lowers her head controlling her laughter

"Okay. Take him to the animal clinic."
"What about your boss?"
"He's gone by now. There's a spare key in the box behind the dumpster."
"You're not going to believe where's he's telling me to take you." Stiles hands the phone to Derek.

"Did you find it?" Derek asks
"How am I supposed to find one bullet? They have a million. This house is like the freaking Walmart of guns."
"If you don't find it, then I'm dead, alright?"
"I'm starting to thing that wouldn't be such a bad thing." Then Rayne grabs the phone.

"Stop being such a pussy and find the damn thing because if you don't I'll kill you. I was supposed to plan a date for tomorrow but no I'm here in a jeep with a dying person who yes, smells like death. So hurry the fuck up." She hangs up and runs her fingers through her hair as Derek and Stiles look back at her.

"What?" She asks and hands the phone to her brother
"No, nothing. I won't cross you ever. She is scary." Stiles whispers to Derek
"Okay to the animal clinic." She says and Stiles drives to the clinic.

They get to the animal clinic and Stiles gets a text from Scott and he turns to Derek
"Does Nordic blue monkshood mean anything to you?"
"It's a rare form of wolfsbane, he has to bring me the bullet."
"Why?" Rayne asks
"Because I'm gonna die without it."

Stiles opens the door and they walk in and Rayne helps Derek take his shirt off
"Thanks." He says and Rayne nods and Stiles turns on the lights and sees the wound
"You now, that really doesn't look like anything some echinacea and a good night's sleep couldn't take care of." Stiles says and Derek's breath gets more heavy.

"When the infection reaches my heart, it'll kill me." He says and goes looking for something,
"Positivity just isn't in your vocabulary, is it?" Stiles asks
"If he doesn't get here with the bullet in time, last resort..." Derek trails off
"Which is?" The twins ask and Derek looks at Stiles while holding a saw
"You're going to cut off my arm." And they both look at each other and Rayne pats his shoulder,

"Good luck."

Derek gives Stiles the saw and Stiles turns the saw on
"Oh, my God! What is you bleed to death?" He asks
"It'll heal if it works." Derek says while Rayne ties the elastic around his arm
"Look, I don't know if I can do this."

"Why not?"
"Well, because of the cutting through the flesh, the sawing of the bone and especially the blood!"
"You faint at the sight of blood?"
"No, but I might at the sight of a chopped off arm!"

"Alright, fine. How about this? Either you cut off my arm or I'm gonna cut off your head."
"Okay, you know, I'm buying your threats anymore." Derek then grabs Stiles' shirt
"Oh, my God! Okay. Alright, bought, sold, totally, I'll do it. I'll do it. What are you doing?"

Derek throws up black whatever and they both grimace
"Holy God! What the hell is that?"
"It's my body trying to heal itself
"Well, it's not doing a very good job of it."

"Now, you gotta do it now."
"Look, honestly, I don't think I can."
"Just do it!" Derek shouts
"Oh, my God. Okay. Okay. Oh, God. Alright, here we go!" He goes to turn the saw on when.

"Stiles? Rayne?"
"Scott?" They both say and Scott walks in
"What the hell are you doing?" And Stiles nervously chuckles
"Oh, you just prevented a lifetime of nightmares."

"Did you get it?" Derek asks and Scott hands the bullet to him
"What are you gonna do with it?" Rayne asks
"I'm gonna..." Derek passes out and drops the bullet and Scott runs to the bullet while the twins run to Derek.

"Derek? Derek, come on. Wake up! Scott, what the hell are we gonna do?" Stiles asks
"I don't know! I can't reach it." Scott says trying to get the bullet
"He's not waking up! I think he's dying. I think he's dead."
"Just hold on! I got it! I got it!"

"Please don't kill me for this." Stiles says and he punches Derek and cries out in pain
"That's gotta hurt." Rayne says and he nods, luckily it does wake up Derek.
"Give me that." Derek says to Scott and they help him up.

Derek then takes of the cap and pours out the powder and lights it on fire and then sticks it in his wound.

What the fuck.

He screams in pain and falls to the ground, then the wound heals
"That was awesome! Yes!" Stiles breaks the silence
"Are you okay?" Scott asks and Derek sits up
"Except of the agonising pain?" Derek says as he stands up.

"I'm guessing the ability to use sarcasm is a sign of good heath." Stiles says
"And a grouchy face." Rayne says after she sees the look that Derek gave her brother
"Okay, we saved your life, which means you're gonna leave us alone. You got that? And if you don't I'm gonna go back to Allison's dad and I'm gonna tell him everything." Scott says

"You're gonna trust them? You think they can help you?"
"Why not? They're a lot fucking nicer than you are!"
"Yeah, I can show you exactly how nice they are."
"What do you mean?"

"Come with me and I will show you." He says
"I'll go to make sure Scott doesn't do or say anything offensive." Rayne says and Derek nods
"Don't get hurt!" Stiles yells to his sister and she nods.

Derek pulls up to Beacon Hills Crossing Home and gets out the car
"What are we doing here?" Scott asks getting out the car and Derek doesn't answer.

They walk into the building and Derek opens one of the doors to reveal a man
"Who is he?" Scott asks
"My uncle, Peter Hale." Derek answers
"Is he like you? A werewolf?" Scott asks
"He was. Now he's barely even human. Six years ago, my sister and I were at school. Our house caught fire, eleven people were trapped inside. He was the only survivor."

"So, what makes you so sure that they started the fire?"
"Cause they're the only ones that knew about us."
"Then they had a reason." Scott says and Rayne smacks him at the back of the head
"Yes, because murder is always the answer, you fucking dumbass." She says sarcastically.

"Like what? You tell me what justifies this." Derek says and turns his uncles chair to reveal the other half of his face that had giant burn marks from the fire.

"They say they'll only kill an adult and only with absolute proof but there were people in my family that were perfectly ordinary in that fire. This is what they do and it's what Allison will do."

"What are you doing? How did you get in here?" A voice comes from the door, a nurse
"We were just leaving." Derek says and they walk out.

"Thanks for driving us home. I'm sorry about you're uncle." Rayne says as Derek drops her at here house after he dropped off Scott
"You're welcome." He says
"Goodnight." She says as she leaves the car and waves once she gets to her door and he waves back at her.

Rayne walks to her room and gets ready for bed and then looks at her ceiling and shuts her eyes and falls into a deep sleep.
