Chapter Fourteen: Pentatonix

Hello all! This is your friendly author speaking! I would like to thank everyone who has read this story! I cannot believe this thing has over four hundred reads! Wow! I'm so grateful! On another note, the updates will be slowing down. I just wanted to give y'all a taste of Pentatonix. No, I won't be going away again, but I'm sticking to my regular update schedule.

Also, I'm playing with the timeline in this story, so don't hold me to any dates. The progression of the story will become clear later on.

Love you all, my darlings!

I stared in slight awe and shock. "As in Kirstin Taylor Maldonado?" I winced after I asked. I should not have included her middle name. It made me sound like a creeper.

She didn't seem too phased, though. "Yes. You're a fan of Pentatonix?" she asked.

I nodded. "Yes, I think you guys are great. Your voices are amazing."

She smiled. "Well, thank you." She paused. "If you don't mind, we should be heading toward the others. I think the food court is on the other side of the mall, and that's where I'm supposed to meet them."

I agreed. "Yeah, it is. Actually, I know a shortcut I can show you. I've been here too many times to count, and I've often had to run from my friends."

I started walking in the direction of the shortcut that lead to the food court, and Kirstie took up a position beside me. "So, have you lived here your whole life?" she asked.

"No, I've only been here for a little under seven years now. Some of my friends have been here much longer, though, so they've drug me around town a lot. I know this place like the back of my hand now."

"That must be nice. You don't have to bother locating a directory. I used to know where every store was located at a mall back in Texas, but it's been so long now since I've been there that things have probably changed."

"You travel quite a bit with Pentatonix, right?" I wondered.

She nodded. "Yep, we travel all the time it seems. It's really fun though, don't get me wrong. I love seeing new places and people. But, whoever you are and wherever you go, you can't completely quit missing home."

"I know what you mean," I said quietly.

Kirstie looked at me kind of funny, and I raised an eyebrow in response. "You're the first fan who hasn't asked for either an autograph, a picture, or both."

I giggled. I was acting like a fucking girl. What was going on? "I am a fan, and I would love to take a picture with you, but I know that you want to get to the group. Plus, I'd much rather just talk with you, like a normal person or even a friend, than to ruin the minutes with fawning and praise."

Kirstie laughed. "Wow, you're something." She sobered quickly. "In a good way, of course. I mean, you're actually really nice and calm, and I just feel like I can talk to you like I talk to the guys."

I smiled at the compliment. "Thank you; that's very flattering. I usually don't meet new people very well. I work at a school as a mentor of sorts, and I hardly ever socialize outside of the children who attend there. It sounds sort of pathetic when I say it out loud; I'm just the type of person that wants to meet new people and gain new friends but is too shy to do so."

She bumped my shoulder playfully. "Well, you're my friend now. So, you don't have to worry about shyness or anything like that anymore."

Just then, we reached the food court, and I could spot the rest of the group hanging around the Dairy Queen. "Hey, Kirstie, they're over there," I pointed to the boys.

She looked and perked up. "Thank goodness! I wanted to go check out a few more stores, but my arms were so full that I couldn't possibly have managed to do that. Now, I can drop off all of my bags with the boys and continue with my spree!" she said excitedly.

I laughed and followed behind her to meet the remaining members of the great Pentatonix. Inside, I was just as nervous and excited as a kitten, but on the outside, I managed to maintain my cool, calm, and collected façade. It also didn't help that I could feel whatever connection or bond I had with Kirstie continuing to solidify by the second.

We grew closer, and Mitch instantly spotted us. "Girl, where have you been?" he asked in his wonderful voice. I had to convince myself not to squeal in excitement.

The others turned to see what Mitch was talking about, and Kirstie replied. "Take a chill pill; I wasn't gone that long. Anyway, I ran into someone." She turned to me. "Guys, meet..." here, she let off.

I had completely forgotten to give her my name. "Uh, you might laugh at me, but my name is Kristin."

Kevin busted our laughing. "No way!" he managed to get out between laughs. "We don't only have a Kirstin, now we have a Kristin. This is great!"

Scott rolled his eyes at his fellow bandmate and began to grab some of Kirstie's bags from me. As if it was a contagious cold, the same thing happened when Scott and I touched. The little zing of electricity and alarm bells went off in my head. Deciding that this was not just some random occurrence, I reached out to the Professor mentally.

Professor, something has happened not only once but twice now. Do you know what this is? I asked, sending him an imitation of the sensations I was feeling.

"Hi, I'm Scott," he said, introducing himself.

I smiled at him. "Kristin, but I believe that you learned that not a minute ago."

He chuckled, and Mitch came up next. "Hello there beautiful; I am Mitch. Can I just say that you are looking fabulous today?"

I giggled and returned Mitch's enthusiastic handshake. Once again, the connection was made. "It's nice to meet you, Mitch. And how can I possibly be the fabulous one when you're wearing Vetements?"

Mitch gasped in mock shock and turned to Kirstie. "I don't know where you found this girl, but I am certainly glad you did!"

Kevin shook his head at Mitch's antics and took the rest of the bags from me, passing one to Mitch who sniffed in disdain but offered no complaint. Another connection was made. I was quickly growing more anxious but managed to hide it. "My name is Kevin. It's a pleasure to meet you, Kristin."

I smiled. "You can call me KT, KO."

He smiled, and I then understood why fans always obsessed over his smile. It lit up his whole face, and it made whoever saw it feel as if the world was completely happy for those few seconds. "Nice! You must be a PTX fan."

I nodded. "Yeah, my friend Laura and I found you guys on the Sing-Off and have been fangirling ever since."

Scott laughed. "You don't seem like the type to fangirl."

Kirstie giggled. "I said the same thing! She's so calm about everything, and most of the fans have at least squealed by now."

I rolled my eyes but continued to smile. "Gosh, Kirstie, I am in control of myself, thank you very much. I had to mature very quickly during my childhood, so I'm actually older than my age. My friends always call me an old soul."

"Well, girl, nothing about you looks old," Mitch stated. "Now, Mama has been waiting all day for a Blizzard, and she is going to get one."

I instantly grew curious. "Favorite kind?" I questioned Mitch.

"Butterfinger, girl." He thought for a minute. "You know what, since you were such a great help to our dear Kirstin, I will buy you a Blizzard, whichever one you want."

I was shocked. "Um, thank you, but you really don't have to. I mean, I can buy my own Blizzard."

Kevin laughed. "Mitch doesn't take no for an answer, KT. You may as well let him buy you one without complaining."

I smirked. "Oh, I definitely wasn't complaining. I was just saying that I do have a job that gives me enough money to purchase a Brownie Batter Blizzard."

Mitch smiled and went to the counter, ordering the Blizzards. The others followed behind him, all except for the last member of the group, who I had yet to make eye contact with. I heard a throaty, rumbling chuckle and turned to my left to find none other than Avriel Kaplan smiling at me. "They seem to have welcomed you with open arms, so I guess I should do the same. I am Avi Kaplan, the bass."

His voice! Oh, his voice! It was deeper in person than in the videos, and I was swooning from it. That voice combined with his very handsome face and deep eyes made for a very sexy man. When our eyes met, green with green, I couldn't breathe. All thought processes stopped, and I was literally frozen to my spot. My whole world shifted; what I once thought was important and what I had planned to do in the future morphed and transformed to not only include but center around this man, this one man.

Dear one, are you in a position where we could talk? I have a theory.

I began to feel dizzy and faint. What was going on? What was happening? Professor, I can't...Help! I managed to send before darkness enveloped me.
